Conforming problem in PRE 7.0

I have a somewhat shaky VOB on a DVD that was captured from a failing VHS-C camcorder onto a DVD. I can play the DVD just fine on the computer and on the DVD player, but when PRE 7.0 tries to conform the clip, it gets an error, "Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Is there some parameter I need to set to get around this problem, or do I just need to discard this clip and try again?
The VOB is attached. It's too large to attach -- 1 gb.

This ARTICLE will give you background on VOB's. If they are 100% DVD-compliant, then PrE (and PrPro, as of CS4.1) will Import them.
If your DVD is not 100% compliant, then there are a few things to try:
1.) Copy the .VOB to your HDD and rename it .MPEG. Sometimes, this works, but it depends on what is inside of the .VOB
2.) Hook your DVD player up to either your video camera, or your A-D bridge, and Capture the footage. Note: you will NOT have device control, and your video camera MUST have pass-through capabilities.
3.) Rip the DVD, as per this ARTICLE. There are other programs too.

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

Problem opening PrE 9 project created on Mac in Windows

Hi, I recently migrated from a Mac to Windows 7, and am having problems opening my project files on the Windows computer. I created several PrE9 projects on my Mac, but now I need to open some of these files on a PC with Windows 7. I get the error message "The project is not compatible with current version of Premiere Elements." I have successfully opened other CS5 project files (AI, PS) on both platforms. This is the first I've seen Adobe files open on Mac but not PC.
So, assuming this is going to be impossible, can I export from the Mac version of PrE to Windows? Is cross-platform collaboration impossible with PrE 9? That doesn't seem likely. What am I missing?
I have some title animations that I created on the Mac that I would really like to reuse in new Windows projects moving forward. I hope I don't have to recreate them from scratch!

Unfortunately, project files created on the Mac platform are not compatible with the Windows version of the product and vice versa.
You can't work on the same project file on both a Mac and a PC. Sorry.

I was trying to use the pre-mapping process operator in owb 9i. Problem is that the manual does not specify how the inputs need to be connected to this operator.
Following is what I went through -
I created a mapping table operator and a mapping dimension operator and connected these two. Then i created a pre-mapping process operator selecting the LTRIM function. Further I connected one of the table attributes to this pre-mapping operator as input and connected the output of this pre-mapping operator to the appropriate dimension operator attribute.
On performing Validate, following error message was flashed -
VLD-2451 : Illegal connection to pre-mapping process operator
I am trying to learn how to use OWB 9i from the manual. So my interpretation of the use of the pre-mapping process operator may be wrong.
In any case kindly help,

Pre-mapping process is use to perform some operations preceding to mapping operation itself.
For example, if your mapping is designed to incrementally append data to table for the definite time interval (witch is a parameter of the map operation) you might want to perform the table data cleanup for that period. That will allow for reload data number of time.
In this case you have to define the procedure witch perform cleanup and than include the call to that procedure as a pre-mapping process.
Other examples of pre- and post mapping process is disabling referential integrity before loading and re-enabling them after loading.
Anyway, OWB documentation has clear definition for pre- and post-mapping processes.

Hi,
Essentially the pre (and post) mapping processes are executed before and after the mapping logic. These are separate procedures in the generated package and are "stand alone" from the main package procedure holding the actual mapping diagram.
If you want to use LTRIM, there are 2 supported ways:
1) use an expression, this means you feed the column you want to do the expression on into the expression operator, open the code editor and select from the transformations (or type ltrim......) and then link the result to the target object
2) use a transformation operator, choose ltrim from the Oracle library and connect the operator as I stated in use case 1
We do not encourage you to use a filter to do transformations, it is better to use the operators that are intended for transformations.

Problem with pre-loader and video playback

Hi!
I've got a real problem - I managed to put together a
pre-loader OK but it doesn't load the entire movie.
Instead it loads a little bit and tries to stream, but it
stutters of course because the server can't cope.
So what I want to do is:
- make my preloader wait for my video file (.swf) to load
(about 6Mb)
- play my video file (.swf)
How do I do this?

up. But if I hit refresh, it turns the video from 320x260 into a
40x40 - sized box. Why!?!?!?

Conforming problem on file import

First things first: I'm working with an Asus P6XP58D-E motherboard, Intel I7 950, Nvidia Quadro FX 580, 8GB DDR3 memory and Windows 7 64bits, all with 1 month of use only.
The first problem: It takes aproximately 5 to 7 minutes to load Premiere Pro CS5 with the splash screen stuck on "exporterquicktimehost.prm". Now, I've been reading a lot about this matter and seems like everyone says its firewall or antivirus problems regarding the relation between Premiere and Quick Time. So I followed every piece of advice that I got on it in order to allow adobe and quick time to freely use internet. Firewall exclusions, antivirus exclusions and also turned them off to try but nothing change. Nevertheless this issue being realy anoing, I could go with if it wasn't for the second problem;
The second problem: I shoot with a Nikon D300s DSLR camera at 24fps, 720 x 1280, and the sound format is 11.025hz 16bit. Now, I now Premiere has support for these formats altough when starting a new project it doesn't have an option that uses these video and sound formats together. All options for my video format use a 44.000hz or 48.000hz sound format. That makes premiere have to conform the files as I import them wich should not be a problem. But this is exactly the reason why I'm writing this post!!! As premiere starts conforming the first file, well, it never finishes! The software crashes and freezes making me have to open the "Task Manager" to be able to close it because it completely stops responding. And thats the big issue. Maybe I could convert the audio with soundbooth, I know, but premiere should be working perfectly and not giving such trouble.
So here is my cry for for help! Especialy for the second problem.

OK! At the top part (where it does not scroll) It says " Version 5.0.3 (005 (MC:218798)) " and At the very begining of the scrolling part of the screen it says "Adobe Premiere Pro v5.0, Scully".
But I have good news! I solved both problems with only 1 solution: both issues were being caused by the Quicktime I had and the Ace Mega Codec pack. I tried to open my Quicktime and it didn't start. No errors, no messages, nothing AT ALL, just double-click and nothing going on. I started searching for help in the internet and found this wonderfull tip in a discussion forum in the Apple site (can I say Apple here? well for now I'm saying it but please let me know if I can't) about this codec pack problem and then I remembered I read about how PPR comunicates with QT (thanks to you) so it hit me!
The thing is, te Ace Mega Codec Pack was not alowing Quicktime to work with Adobe softwares and caused Premier to take forever to initiate and freeze and crash when I imported any video file for the program wasn't able to conform the video files without Quicktime acces.
The solution couldn't be easier, simply erase the Ace Mega Codec Pack! Can you believe it!? So simple to do but so complicated to find out. Looking back now it sounds like a foolish obvious joke and makes me wanna laugh. Almost can't believe this gave me 4 days of trouble and bad sleep. Hahahahahahaa. Erasing the code pack made Quicktime function corectly and with that Premiere could finaly come to its swiftness and perfection. Just for the record, I unistalled Quicktime and Premiere, restarted my PC, reinstalled them both and restarted again and I use version 7.55.90.70 of Quicktime.
So everything working fine now.

Problem to pre tag use in jeditorpane

hi all,
i am using JEditroPane with HTMLEditorKit. I am using <pre> tag to set the Tab space. But problem is that, when i write continuously, its can't line break also when i print the editor contents, it will not print the exact contents.
If i remove <pre> tag it prints the contents but formatting( Tab space) has remove.
Please help me, how can i get rid of this situation..

Premiere Pro CS4 conforming problem!

but there don't have the answer that I want!
I am not newbie in PPro,
I am using win7 64bit, 6GB Ram, Matrox RT.X2 with PPro CS4 version 4.2.1
This is the 1st time I use PPro CS4 in 64bit.
The QS is my PPro is keep conforming the clips!!
I set adlry the Scrath-Disk , media the folder where i put!

I import all vedio also got that problem!!!
I aslo have on the " Save Media Cache files next.......possible "
After I import a AVI, PPro comforming it !
and I saved it and close the PPro.
and I open it agian ( i don't touch any thing), PPro will conforming it agian!
I using another version PPro don't have that problem!!

Problem with Pre-Popup-Menu in Hierarchical Tree

Hi,
In Forms 10g I have made an application with an Hierarchical Tree. All works well, except the use of the Pre-Popup-Menu trigger.
In that trigger when I read the values of Node_Label and Node_Value I get the values of the previous selected node, not the values of the node on which I issue the right mouse click. So, it seems that by clicking the node I need is not selected.
Does anyone have any clues to solve this problem?

Right clicking does not change the current selection. The tree has no way to report what node was right clicked. Only work around is to left click the node you wish then right click it.

Problems downloading pre-release of Robbie Williams Rudebox

Has anyone else had problems downloading Rudebox by Robbie Williams after being notified that the pre-release was ready to download?
The movies and Digital booklet downloaded fine, but the music files stop with an error "An unknown error occurred (-50)."

Sorry for the belated reply, been really busy and haven't had a chance t report back.
I am unfortunate enough to own a PC too, and when I tried connecting to iTMS from the PC, it worked fine.
I received an email from iTunes Music Store Support:
1. Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes, then choose "Check for Purchases" from the Advanced menu.
2. Enter your account name and password when prompted, then click the Check button. Your purchase should begin downloading. If you receive an error message while downloading, try again after turning off any firewall or web-accelerator software that you may have installed.

Problems Downloading pre-purchased items

I am having some serious problems downloading items that I have previously purchased or pre-purchased. The problems started about 2 weeks ago, when I purchased a few tv-shows and had to stop downloading in the middle of the download. I came back later that night and tried to go to my account, clicked on where I had pending downloads, but it kept timing out. I got an error message that said:
UNABLE TO CHECK FOR PURCHASES - NETWORK TIMED OUT
make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.
I had no problems with my network settings, as I was able to purchase and download a cd with no problem.
I also today was prompted to download 2 cd's that I had pre-purchased, and clicked yes to begin the downloads. 30 seconds later, I got the same error message. I now have 38 pending downloads, and I am unable to get them to download. In the meantime, I am currently downloading another tv-show that I purchased today, and am having NO PROBLEMS DOWNLOADING THIS! So this obviously shows I am not having a network connection problem. Right?
I have been emailing apple support and i-tunes support for 2 weeks now, with out any resolution. Is there anyone out there experiencing the same problems? Anyone have any insight on how to fix this?
I actually tried to re-purchase a couple of items that are stuck in my pending and not able to download. This was unsuccessful as i-tunes realized they were already purchased and were pending downloads, so it wouldn't allow me to re-purchase them. It also wont allow me to download them, so what gives?

Re-conform problems. Up-rez DV to HDV...

Hello...
I've done a search on this topic and have found various related threads but would like some fresh information please.
I've just finished a short project, only 4 minutes long, that was shot on HDV (Yep, the sony Z1). The original media is on 5 tapes that we captured at DV quality for the offline edit, and now want to do a conform, and re-capture **only the media we need** at HDV quality.
I tried this -
1. ctrl+click on sequence in the browser and chose 'make sequence clips independant'
2. ctrl+click on sequence in the browser and chose 'make offline'
3. re-set all capture, device control setting to be HDV etc (no problem here)
4. I selected ALL the clips on the timeline and dragged them into the browser, creating a long list of Offline Clips
5. selected each batch of Offline Clips relating to each reel number and did 'batch capture'
This is where the problems began... when the batch capture window came up, it obviously was referencing the WHOLE tape, not just the little bits (plus handles) we needed for our sequence.
When I double-clicked each offline clip to open it in the viewer, the in/out points were still a tiny spec in the 45min-long viewer 'timeline'.
I couldn't get in/out capture points set properly.
So... i tried this...
I went down all the Offline Clips in the browser one by one and did Modify>Make Subclip (or just command+U).
When i opened these subclips in the viewer, it was clear that the in/out points were at referencing ONLY the media we required to capture.
So... I did a batch capture of these new Offline-Subclips, and the quantity/length of the media to be catpured was correct, in relation to the clips on the timeline... so all good...
I captured this media, and each clips came in ok... but after the first batch, i did a check, and the timecodes were totally out... it was not capturing the right bit of each clip...
The HDV bit was fine, we got the new HDV media onto a new timeline with no rendering required, so I'm happy about that...
BUT... SURELY there must be a way of doing a conform (re-capturing ONLY the footage we need for our sequence) without having to go through all this hastle... can somebody help me out here?

It was a good shot, getafix is reading between the lines from the dozens of silly and speculative threads on HDV we've been suffering around here for months.
The use of the subclip is the basic problem with your setup, I'm guessing, difficult to say without watching you work. We try to suggest folks experiment with the higher functions of FCP long before they try to make them work on an important project. Media Manager and subclipping are such features. Visit kenstone.net and look for an article callede "Meet the family" (or something like that) to further understand the differences between FCP's weird clip types.
The process of up-rezing is fairly simple but it takes practice because of the ridiculously unintuitive interface for Media Manager. You should practice on a noncritical project, something where you can easily follow what FCP is doing. There is no easy way to figure this out that I know of and the manual's extensive discussion of MM cannot be condensed here.
Sorry not to be able to add anything that is actually helpful; MM is all about reading the manuals and practicing.

Problem when pre-composing masked layer

Ok, i am having a problem when masking a Twixtored layer.
this is what happens:
i have the original footage in a comp, i used twixtor to slow it down to 3% speed

I Then pre composed that slowed down layer into a comp of it's own and masked around that parts i wanted and named this comp "masked comp 1"

i then precomposed the masked layer into another comp called "sky replacement" and this is when i hit the problem, it dosn't show up, it just gives me a black screen.

I tried rendering out "Masked comp 1" and "sky replacement" and with both it just renders a black screen, but if i render the Twixtored comp that renders fine. So i think it has somthing to do with the mask but i can't figure it out.
Please help.

The black screen notwithstanding, I see two VERY big problems in the workflow as described... or at least as how I understand your workflow.
You used Twixtor to slow down video to 3% of its normal speed: that represents tons and tons of speed redeuction, and you're lucky that Twixtor was able to give you a useful image AT ALL. Then you precomped it, too boot.
Then you hoped against all hope that you could effectively mask the precomp... which was presumably at the target frame rate.
Give yourself a fighting chance to come up with something: once you use Twxtor, prerender it. And I have to tell you: if you are actually using Twixtor to slow down footage to 3% of normal speed, it probably won't look good. Twixtor is great for minor speed variations, but for 3% of normal? It can't work miracles......
