Confronting Browser compatbility

Hi everyone,
The project which i am manitaining is based on SAP Netweaver 7.01 SPS 03.
We have ESS and MSS applications based on Webdynpro Java running on them.
For the last one year we have encountered several browser compatibilty problem and i had only one option of using 'Compatibility Mode'.
Now that my client is ready to do an SP upgrade, I am sure the browser compatibility problem will be resolved.
The plan is to do a SP upgrade from SAP Netweaver 7.01 SPS 03 to SAP Netweaver 7.01 SPS 15.
Being a developer i have following questions ,
1. If i do the above SP upgrade, will the SAP ESS and MSS Standard application based on Webdynpro Java be overwritten? I dont want this to be over written as i could see the developer who has implemented the project has made changes to code directly on Standard application rather than customizing them first.
2. If yes, do i have any option to bring the system to be compatible with latest versions of browsers without going for SP Upgrade ?

I confront the message "blocked plug-in" on most included windows of safari browser internet sites on my old Macbook running snow leopard 10.6.8. Adobe flash updates are disconnected by Safari before they can be downloaded. Any cure for this?

I don't know if this question has already posted but if not here is my problem: I repeatedly get a blank screen except for the error message "blocked plug in" when browsing in safari and trying to view web page included videos. Is this an Adobe flash player rejection? I keep getting Adobe flash player update messages but when I click download this is blocked by Safari or OS security. Any user-fix out there?

Which Safari? Which Flash? I'm running Safari 5.1.10 (6534.59.10) w/Flash Player 13.0.0.214 and am not getting any of those messages. To get the latest Flash Player, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer, download the latest version, and install it.

Java does not work on my Win 7 IBM-compatible PC using Firefox as my web browser

A typical example of a website I would like to access & view is "www'cut-the-knot.org", a relatively mathematics-related website with a lot a very nice math content, where (roughly estimating) 70-90% of all web pages on the web site use Java applets to communicate that math content.
I CANNOT view the Java applets (am restricted/prevented from doing so) --- on CTK or ANY other website!.
I could go into all the details but, essentially, I have tried just about everything I can think of (or have found to do/try in discussions on the Internet by googling the problem) & nothing seems to have had any positive affect ... I can still not view ANY Java applets on ANY website! :-(
I USED to be able to view Java content on the PC I was working on, although, a few months ago, I migrated from Win XP to Win 7 when MS stopped supported Win XP. I don't know when things changed but, "while I wasn't looking" (&/or paying attention) something DID change. :-(
I'm using an IBM-compatble PC (not a Mac) with Windows 7 & Firefox as my web-browser.
I'm just a private individual ... just a "little guy" in my home ... little personal technical knowledge, no big biz connections, no $ to hire expensive (or inexpensive) experts to come in & assess & fix the problem. I would even just like to know if there is some kind of future expected date when something MIGHT get improved, barring an action "solution" of the problem.
From what I read on the Internet, some problem(s) relating to this issue has/have been extant for at least two years, dating back to at least 2012, if not further? I assume the problem would have been fixed long ago if it were easy to fix so, I'm not trying to be overly critical ... just asking for some kind of status report --- help/communication/knowledge/expertise/solution/etc ... & any information would be appreciated. Knowing WHAT the problem is is a high priority to me, certainly as well as understanding HOW TO FIX the problem, & WHEN that fix will occur.
Java is a seemingly wonderful technology but, if there are such severe security risks that require it be enabled so that no one (I'll assume I'm not the only one unable to view Java applets) can use it, it doesn't have much value to visitors to websites that employ Java to deliver a majority of their content. Part of the problem, obviously, is that (like CTK) MANY websites ALREADY use/employ Java --- & therefore, end-users have almost no access to the content in/on those websites.

How do make the mouse wheel scroll in my Flex app/component instead of the browser?

Let's say I have a DataGrid or Tree or List component which
has hundreds of rows. When I place my mouse over the component and
scroll the mouse wheel, I notice that [most of the time] it scrolls
the component a little, then starts scrolling the browser window. I
want it to only scroll the component until it reaches the end of
the rows. Any thoughts?

Is there a way to look at history IF it is done on private browsing?

Here is my dilemma...In point blank terms, My partner has an IPAD 3...and has a serious problem looking at ****..and then clearing his history... I have gone into Safari,-advanced-web data and found all the websites that are visited. After confronting the jerk, I KNOW now that he is either deleting each **** website manually OR private browsing them. I have already disabled safari, but that doesn't work because by doing that one cannot even get on Yahoo!! So I am sick of the promises that he isn't not looking...I just need to know if he is lying..which my gut tells me, if you want something bad enough, you will find a way...
My gut also tells me, that there is got to be a way for me to check...I need step by step instructions from anyone who has figured out all aspects of an IPAD 3..

What is browsed on one device has nothing to do with what is browsed on any other device. If you see something in a browser history in the iPhone, then either he didn't click "private" or didn't clear the history on that device.

No. Again, browser history is not synced to other devices.
If he's surfing and either using Private Browsing or clearing the history, then there's no way you can see what sites he's visited. You'll just have to decide how to deal with that from there.

Mozilla Firefox browser stopped working altogether about 6-8 weeks ago!

We love Mozilla Firefox...and, as genuine early adopters and "pioneers," have been using it since day one! That is until our service was disrupted about a month or two ago and we were forced to use IE as default Browser.
Wha happened?
At first we thought something was wrong with the settings in our PC (DELL desktop, 32 bit, Vista), they they had somehow gone 'out of whack' and were making it impossible to open MF any longer. What a disaster! The first and second level Support team at AT&T tried everything, including removing and reloading our Mozilla Firefox browser app, but to no avail...even after running through this process as well as other basic protocols a number of times.
Interestingly, a friend called me yesterday complaining that a virus (Trojan) had invaded his computer and was wreaking havoc in a number of ways. When I asked what the symptoms were, he said, "well, the main one is I can no longer use my Mozilla Firefox browser!"
I couldn't believe my ears. What do you guys know about this symptom and what can I do to fix it? Is it some kind of MS IE conspiracy we are up against?

Got that mha007, and many thanks for jumping into the fray with us. However, once I am confronted by the Safe Mode window I do not know what to do next, e.g.,
"You can elect to make the following changes:
•Disable all add-ons
•Reset toolbars and controls
•Reset bookmarks to Firefox defaults
•Restore default search engines
•Disable all add-ons

Which, if any, do I check... and, importantly, why?

Different issues with file browse item

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to create a file upload page using the file browse item. To achieve this I followed the how-to document :

I've created my own table to store the documents as I store some extra information.
When I test this functionality I discovered many issues.
- If I upload a PDF file this gives me HTTP 404. When I go back, choose the same file with the browse button and upload again this will pass.
- If I upload a file with spaces in it's name this file will be uploaded twice. (I see the same file two times in the table with 2 different names.
- At random times I will just arrive at a blank page after clicking the upload button. It appears to me as this will happen more often when I use a double-click to select the file in the browser dialog compared to selecting the file and clicking open. However, I suppose this is just coincidence. It happens in both cases. I'm confronted with the problem with small files (1k, 4k) as well as with larger files (6m)
- Like I said before, I store some extra information as well. In some cases this information is stored with the document. In some other cases he takes the description from a previous document to store along with the new document. I suppose this is some kind of session problem probably caused by the other problems I currently have and the fact I press back quite often in my browser (each time I arrive at a blank page)

Hi Kris,
I think you're problem is coming from local session info... using the back button is not that good. Put a back button in your application ;-)
An other thing I wonder is; are you developing and testing on the same machine and at the same time? - I did that before and that gave me some problems. Now I'm developing in Firefox and test with IE or vice-versa.

Adobe CS6 32bit Extension error when trying to browse in bridge.

There are times I have to use the 32bit version of CS6, because the plugin being used can't be used in the 64bit version. But the last two days, this error started up out of the blue.
This is the error popup I get, verbatim "Could Not Complete the Browse In Bridge command because Photoshop was unable to find the Javascript plug-in"
This error doesn't happen with the 64Bit version, nor does it happen in CS5 64 or 32bit, and not in CC 32bit (downloaded the trial to test to see if it was a 32bit compatbility problem) and none of these cough up this error.
I haven't copied or deleted any parts of Adobe or any files in any of the program directories.

Extension Manager CS6 no longer supports Bridge and this problem occurs in Photoshop. Please seek help in http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop.

How Open And Print Proc C Genrated Text File Based Report ON Browser

I have my old 6i forms from which i runs some Pro*c programmers with the help of HOST() command ,and then that generates a normal text file as a resultant report like file name "kha10"
which i can easily open with any text client ,,,
now what i want is that, to open this file on browser like web Report on my forms 10g like report builder 10g
can anyone help me as it will be a gr8 help otherwise i would have to develop approx 100 reports.....

Firefox logo missing from new browser; would like to see it so I can know at a glance which browser I am using.

Bring back the logo or something else to allow quick identification of browser. Chrome doesn't have its logo in the browser either so now it going be harder to tell between the two. Is this a contest to see which can be more self effacing?

You can click the 3-bar Firefox menu button and open the Customize window.<br />
At the bottom of this window there is a button to enable showing the title bar.

Can't view data in browse mode.

I have a database of about 50 records I can view the data in list mode but when I switch to Browse the page turns grey. I trashed the preferences but no improvement.
Any help?

Image Browser downloads to wrong folder

I couldn't find a better category for this question than iPhoto. Sorry if there is one.
I just got a Canon powershot A630 camera. it's great. I was using iPhoto to download images and that was fine. But I thought the Image Browser software that came with the camera would offer more functionality. And i guess it does but I'm having a lot of difficulties with it.
I called Canon and spoke with tech support but they just tell me it works for them so it must be my problem. They are using mac 10.4 and I have 10.3.9 so that might be part of it. The Image Browser version is 5.7.
Here's what happens:
I have specified under "Preferences" in the "Camera Window" (that comes up when I connect the camera to the computer) for the images to be downloaded to a folder I created called "Powershot A630" which resides in the Pictures folder. The default location for download is that same Pictures folder. And that's where the images go, NOT to the folder I specified.
I've tried also setting that in the EOS window (which can only be started when the camera is NOT connected to the computer). Still doesn't help.
The Canon guy ran me through a scenario where I "select" pictures for downloading. In this scenario I get a chance to specify the destination, and in fact, it shows the destination I chose in preferences. And it does download to the correct place. But then, where the Image Browser main window lists "favorite" folders, my destination folder is now listed twice. Not desireable I think.
At this point, I think I'll just go back to iPhoto, but if anyone has a solution, or other reasons why I should use Image Browser I'd love to hear.
One more thing. The second Canon guy I talked with took me into "Image capture" utility and had me set the destination folder there. Don't see where that has any bearing on the activity at hand, though.

I love my Canon Powershot A620. The 630 looks
awesome. My Image Browser is version 5.5, and I don't
know what changed with the next versions.
B- Yeah, the a630 is really nice. I previously had an A40 and this is a major step up.
Anyway, the second Canon guy sounds a bit more
knowlegdeable about Macs. The preferences in Image
Capture are where you set which application (or none)
opens automatically when the Mac detects a camera or
card. So if setting it in Image Capture doesn't work,
then I'm not sure what will. I'm afraid I can't
answer your core question here about how to download
to your preferred folder.
B- Thanks for explaining that. It's very clear. I did not understand that from my conversation with the Canon rep.
As for your choice of which app to use, consider
this: Image Browser is just that - an application for
browsing your hard drive and displaying the image
files in various ways. iPhoto is NOT an image
browser. It is a photo organizer with lightweight
editing capabilities and limited version control.
B- That's good to know, too. I was assuming that Imagebrowser was a substitute for iPhoto and I was hoping for increased funcionality. And it does have lots of stuff in it, which was more confusing than anything else.
iPhoto is a database application, so when you use it
you should NOT manipulate items in its library folder
structure from within the Finder.
B- yeah, I had discovered that
With an image
browser you always manipulate the files yourself from
Finder. You alone are responsible for the
organization of your images. With a database you
manipulate your files from inside the application,
and let it take care of the file management
automatically. The two apps are incompatible. If you
import your photos to iPhoto you should not access
them using Image Browser, because you could damage
the library. I know you weren't suggesting combining
the two, I am just trying to highlight the
differences between them.
So ask yourself if you like iPhoto's capabilities. If
you were happy with it before, then there's really no
need to switch to Image Browser. It's like apples and
... cows (oranges are too similar) and the choice is
up to you.
B- the one thing I like so far about imagebrowser is the easy way to view the image full screen. Have not figured out how to do that in iPhoto.
BUT, there is a task inside my Image Browser that I
absolutely LOVE because it does something I can't do
with iMovie. Its called "MovieEdit Task" in
Applications>Image Browser>DVCUtility. It's a great
little thing that lets you take separate video clips
and combine them into one movie. It's much simpler
than iMovie, and optimized to work with your Canon's
video clips. (Whereas iMovie prefers miniDV tape.) It
will allow you to rotate a video clip 90 degrees, so
if you turned the camera on its side to record a
movie clip you can rotate it to portrait view. I have
done this and used the clip in iMovie, and it was
perfect. Without it I would have needed an iMovie
plug-in or had to buy QuickTime Pro.
B- I'll have to look into that. I also have a digital camcorder and have used iMovie. And I'll definitely look into the rotation. My novice friend used my camcorder and shot a bunch of shots of our band with the camcorder rotated 90 degrees.
So, I sometimes use Image Browser due to the way it
handles video clips. Here, it is superior to iPhoto.
But for every day use and for the storage,
organization, and manipulation of my photos, I use
iPhoto (in conjunction with PhotoShop Elements for
real editing).
Just my 4¢.

Loops not in browser

Trying to load loops into loop browser, garageband says " loops not in garageband format will not be displayed in browser' - this has not happened before.
aiff files were shown, how to get browser to show aiff loops?

this is all a bit much for me; GB on my laptop (G4 PB ) accepts these loops, and GB on my PB is currently running as should. The problem occured when I copied the song over to my mates G5, so I could ( supposedly ) enjoy the benefits of G5 power and speed. All that happened was a series of errors as the copied song ( which still opens ok on the PB ) such as not finding files etc; From here things got worse as I tried to reload loops and at first it all worked, then loops not recognised, and then finally, loops will not show in browser.
I have a copy of the song bsck on my PB and it loads runs and sees loops just fine; plus, all the loops load into GB and are seen.
End state is that I have a prope running GB with all loops on my PB, but my mate now has a non working GB on his G5

Browse and crash...

After recently downloading and installing the 1.0.3 update to Soundtrack Pro I also loaded the Sony Kit Watkins Ambient Realms library of loops. While browsing the loops in the STP browser, STP suddenly quit. I've had this problem with other loop libraries as far back as version 1.0 of STP, so to have it again now suggests an internal problem never corrected. There is no single loop that always causes a problem, but the problem doesn't seem to occur until after previewing a number of loops, as though some stack finally fills up and aborts the whole process. Although it's always wise to save often, this problem is like playing Russian Roulette with one's work. Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution?

That sounds strange to me. I audition files all the time just fine. I wonder what's different. I'm running Tiger. What audio interface are you using?
Whenever I run into strange behavior, I usually switch to built-in audio and try the same thing as a sanity to see if it is something funky with my audio interface setup (at least this might help isolate the issue). Having said that, I've found STP 1.0.2 and now STP 1.0.3 to be really solid (at the risk of jinxing myself).
Also, are you getting the send crash report to Apple thingy or does STP just quit? Sometimes there are clues about why an app crashed by looking at the crash log or by opening the console (/Applications/Utilties/Console.app)--have you checked there for more info?

Some loops don't loop in browser

In the Loop Browser when previewing, the loops play over and over until I stop them, including ones downloaded from MacLoops. Except one group from MacLoops (Chillout) only plays once through then stops. How can I get them to play continuously like all the others?

This one set of loops acts differently. Besides not "looping" when playing in the browser they also do not follow the tempo&pitch of the Project. (In fact the option is grayed out when the loop is in the Timeline). It's the macloops chillout set.

I don't think I did anything different than with the other loops of theirs I D/L'd. (I think I'll try deleting them and D/L'ing again).
