Confuse N80 OR N80IE

Any one can HELP me!!!
product code 0535064 its N80 or N80IE....
Just update NEW firmware version
v4.0632.0.38
13-10-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80(548.01)
why i cant update v4.0707.0.7
can change product code???

There are about 20 other threads that explain this....
If your SW is 4.06.32.0.38 then it is IE
If your operator hasn't approved SW 4.0707.0.7 for your product code then Nokia doesn't put it on the software updater.
You can answer the last line of your post using google.

Could N80 be upgraded to N80IE?

  • How to make original N80 voip enabled?

Since the voip is available for the N80ie(internet edition),I wonder if nokia will make the voip available for the original N80,since both the the N80 have same features.Wouldnt it be great to include voip in the next firmware update for nokia N80?

Though note that the N80 to N80ie upgrade is not yet available for all networks - at least, it wasn't available for Voda UK when I checked on Monday or Tuesday.
Re the original question, a very quick search would have come up with the following:

  • Firmware Update N80ie

I have an N80 i.e. NO BRAND product code 0551547 (ITALY)
    Fw: v. 4.0707.0.7
im looking for a new version on Nokia software update but he say:sorry no update are available!
BUT other person with n80i.e. with ONLY different product code can update to 5.xxxxx
    WHY ????

Nokia just released firmware 5.0719.0.2 for N80 or N80ie but the initial feedback does not seems to talk about anything new as per this post subject.
    Couple of bug fixes..
Why no A2DP? take away snake and give me A2DP and browser.. sniff..

N80s, even with the latest firmware are bug ridden and reboot themselves from time to time. Nokia know about the bugs because they have fixed some of them in the N80IE firmware. I have no idea why they can't get their act together and release the fixed firmware for the N80 owners.. It's IDENTICAL hardware. Many people are "voiding their warranty" and converting N80 to N80IE versions. This is because Nokia will not sort it out "officially".

  • N80 and ridiculous wi-fi reception

Hello. I have a Nokia N80 of which I was quite happy until lately. Despite passing troubles with Nokia not updating online software (I strongly suspect phone firmware's apps are newer) I now get this new one.
The WLan performance is totally unreliable. The WLan scanner on the s60 desktop often finds no WLan at all despite my Netgear DG834G Router is airing a strong signal and the phone be within 1-2 meter in line of sight from the appliance.
The same result is yield from the WLan scanner app. With total signal strenght showing up when it gets it, and no WLan at all when it doesn't get it.
Despite all of that when I connect my router in the same room with Web app. the connection is stable and doesn't fall. In the same time if I were trying WLan scanner it would keep showing at tracts the WLan network.
If I move from the router's room in the adjacent rooms I see at worst 2 of 3 bars signal strenght from the indicator, the Phone though is not able to establish a connection in these conditions, nor is able to see a signal strenght lower than 2/3 even if I get further. Curiously, I accassed someone else's DG834G router config page with 1/3 signal strenght down the street, and realized that only coming back home and checking my router's IP address and internal language.
And last but not least I was not able to connect to regular Wi-Fi hot-spots in public places, with phone showing only occasionally some spot and not managing to get more than 1/3 of signal. Connection was impossible in any case.
Could please someone clarify on Nokia N80 wi-fi capabilities ? Is it any good ? What is the typical yield of this unit ? Is it possible to see wi-fi networks and not being able to connect them for the lower performance of the internal antenna or would the N80 just prevent to show wi-fi networks when the spot wouldn't be in the radiation's design power coverage ?
Is there a way to adopt for troubleshooting wi-fi complications ?
Sorry for being so tedious, and thank you in advance for any help provided.

    Hi m80116
I presume that your phone is an N80 not N80IE, if the latter this post may have been of interest:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=9062#M9062
I notice that this setting is not present in "advanced settings" in my N80.

  • TO NOKIA SUPPORT: Application Manager Memory issue...

There is a STRANGE memory issue with Application Manager and Nokia N80 device. It's present in both N80 and N80IE and tried with Firmware versions from v3.x to lastest v4.x one.
When you have installed many programs, tested with more than 150 counting SIS plus JAVA, Application Manager gets unusuable reporting continuosly "Memory Full - Please close apps..." and you can't do anything with it...
This issue happens even after starting device without any resident app loaded and 14 Mbytes of free RAM so I think this is a limited memory issue available for Application Manager
A curious thing is that you can Run and Enter Application Manager and installed App list is showed but not complete, it list all the SIS files installed (I think it start to list that type) and then the JAVA ones is cutted and dont appear the full list of installed apps of this type.
Another curious thing is that if you uninstall a SIS app and Run again Application Manager the list is filled with one more app of JAVA type so this sound like a MEMORY ISSUE or deliberating restricting number of app listed?
Perhaps app listing could be stored in a temp file and partially loaded in pages so memory don't get overheaded... :-?
Today with 1 or 2 GB memory cards, this is a SERIOUS ISSUE.
Please, could you confirm this and point me where to report this issue so it can be solved in future firmware updates?
    Many thanks in advance.

So hope i.I'm preparing a bug report to post here.Maybe with our reports the new firmwares will be even better...if some Nokia guy is looking at what we're speaking

  • Shozu/flickr authentication problems

I have all my firmware up to date, but somehow with flicker I keep getting an authentication problem except if I do it myself, signing in manually, but the automatic uploading of a pic never worked yet. I used to have it working on an N80.

I went and reinstalled Shozu, re-authorized flickr, and it continues with authentication failed when I try to send something there.
I'll experiment some more and report back, in the meantime bright suggestions are welcome.
Well, I don't see why this happens to be so difficult. I had a Nokia N80 and N80ie. Now, I posess the N95. Yet, I still can't get online service with flickr/vox. I am frustrated. I reflash my phone because of problems brewing with certain applications. Yet, the same problems always seems to fall perhaps not between the phones or Nokia, but perhaps among the collaboration of Nokia phones and the addition of flickr/vox/shozu. I believe this is so because my phone quickly states that no authenticity as oppose to proper validation. Please keep me in tune.

  • N80 - n80i

    Hi,
Im sure this has been asked 100+ times... But I cant seem to get it to work...
    My Mobile details:
    V.4.0623.0.42
    20-09-2006
    RM-92
    Nokia N80 (33.01)
When I do a Nokia Software Update it says i have the latest version.. But there is 4.0632.0.36 update somewhere. How do I get this firmware to install on my mobile ?
    Any help would be great
    Cheers,
    Nick

the firmware you have is for N80 & the firmware you wana get is for N80 Internet Edition.
You cant get this update coz N80 & N80 Internet Edition have got different Product Codes. You have to change your N80 product code to a N80IE product code & then Nokia Software Updater will update your firmware to the 1 which you want. But in the process you'l get your waurantee void coz u'l change the product code & changing the product code will void your waurantee.
I have N80 myself & i updated it to N80 Internet Edition. I can tell you, there's literaly no difference between the two excepting for the name tag that 'yeh, i'v got a N80 Internet Edition'.
    cheers

  • Need a RELIABLE new phone.. N80 /N80i / N81 /N81 8...

    Hi all,
    I'm looking for a new SLIDE phone. Reliability/Bug wise, which is the better choice? N80 /N80i / N81 /N81 8gb?
Any other thoughts/opions that may sway me one way or another ?
eg the LCD display... N81 has a smaller yet more colours available in its LCD display (according to online specs.) Having not seen any of these phones 'in the flesh'... A big issue?
OS/Firmware... Are certain OS'es (symbian etc) better than others? are firmware updates easily obtainable and end user installable?

  • The new Nokia N80i

I was reading a thred which was saying about the N80i but it was locked. This is just a silly thread really but I thought the Nokia N80 is actually called a Nokia N80-1 so any new N80s that come out would surely take on the corresponding number eg N80-2. Where on earth did the i come from? Anyway please don't argue on this one but anybody else heard some rumours? One I heard was that the new N80-whatever would be getting a touch sensitive screen.
Anything here is just rumours and is not to be confused with hard facts. If you read this don't get confused with what is really available.
Finally, please keep this sensible. Don't say you heard a rumour that the new N80 will come with a pair of open minded twin sisters.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.
    Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95

  • N80 vista x64 portable device driver

    Hi,
When connecting the N80 to USB and selecting "Media Player" mode, vista doesnt find an appropriate driver. I installed nokia suite 6.83. I remember that this worked at somepoint, but I somehow managed to delete the nokia n80 entry via uninstall from the Device Manager->Portable Devices. It now shows up under Device Manager->Other Devices with an "exclamation mark". If I right-click and do an "Update Driver Software...", vista doesnt find anything. Forcing it to use the "Portable Devices->Nokia Windows Portable Device Driver" doesnt really help either: windows media player 11 doesnt show the device to sync with.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I would try re-installing the PC-suite.
My favorite N80 applications: Nokia Mobile Search, Smart2go Beta,
    S60 Internet Radio, Mobile Weather.

  • No A2DP support for Nokia N80!

I just wonder why Nokia can't add support for A2DP in the new firmware for Nokia N80ie cellphone. =(
I just uppdatet my phone in hope of getting somewhere, but it was pointless.
It would be pretty nice if i could use my N80 as a real media centre with my Jabra BT 620s bluetooth headset but no way.
I am just intrested why not, i have read som discussions in this forum and other N phones did get their uppdates with A2DP support . Or am i wrong. Am i doing somethig wrong and cant get this to work?

A2DP and AVRCP does not require additional hardware for bluetooth 1.2 and above. It is based purely on software simulation.
Nokia can support A2DP in nokia n80. but battery could be an issue. Initial prototype of N80 had bluetooth 2 but then it was downgraded to 1.2 !!!

  • N80 v4.0707.0.7 Product Code 0533239 (Brazil) has ...

People here in Brazil that have unbranded (generic) firmware of N80 could update it to v4.0707.0.7.
But the problem is brazilian firmware's lost ALL topics related to builtin applications, like Camera, Real Player, Contacts, Log, Gallery, etc...
If you open any application and press Options-help, you will only get the message "No help topics available".More suprisingly, if you open "Help" application, you'll realize there are no help topics at all for builtin applications. The only help topics available are for applications that have been installed either manually, or automatically by NSU, like Adobe Reader, Zip Manager or Resco Photo Viewer.
That's a great drawback, as "help" application could even replace user's manual in previous firmware, cause there were lots of topics...
It definitely happens with Brazilian firmware and needs to be fixed.
Maybe it occurs with some other countries' firmware too...

  • N80 Restarting A.K.A. "WSOD" when playing large mp...

I love Anime's so I'm converting my "RMVB" or "AVI" video files from my pc to "MP4" so that i can watch in my N80.
here is the setting when i convert the files to MP4:
    Video
    -resolution is "352x288 (CIF)"
-frame rate(FPS) is set to "auto"
-Bit rate is set to "512"
    Audio
-im just setting it to "mono" and "128kbps"
    file size: is almost 110mb
there are two situation that i observed before the WSOD is happening:
    1st situation:
when i try to play the mp4 file using "imaging folder---> realplayer".
    2nd situation:
when i try to play the mp4 file using "gallery--> images and videos".
both situation makes my n80 restart A.K.A "WSOD" but the difference is it is restarting more often when im using the 1st situation that i couldnt enjoy what im watching.
In the 2nd situation i can play up to two 30 mins MP4 videos and then on the 3rd video usually WSOD will appear.
can someone tell me why this is happening? And this is only happening when im watching Video. Is this a firmware bug? pls help thanks.

yeah white screen of death... im thinking of that too. im suspecting 3 things why this is happening
    -the firmware
    -version of realplayer
    -or the converted file itself
if it's the converted file, can you please recommend a video converter that will convert a file that is compatible with nokia n80/n80ie... im using "xilisoft video converter" right now, maybe not recommended for nokia files. theres a lot of automatic setting their for lots of device but there's none for nokia.
and also, is their somebody also experiencing this? i already read many threads here but did not find anything the same like this. thanks :-)
