    Welcome to the Forums!
    +1. What screen should I go with? Regular or the Hi-res. LED screen.+
    Whatever you like! High-res is nice, but the text will be ~small~ !!
    +2. Why should I buy 4gig of ram with my computer from Apple for $400 when I get get it for almost 1/4 the price from a retailer and install it myself? Any reason the apple memory would be better?+
    You shouldn't. Buy it from a 3rd party like Crucial or Newegg. Apple memory is just bought from other OEMs anyway, not made by Apple.
    +3. Any advantage or disadvantage to get the black case?+
    MacBook Pros are aluminum, not black. You're thinking of MacBooks.
    +4. Does the 7200rpm 200gig HDD really add that much speed from the 250gig 5200rpm HDD?+
    Adds a little, but honestly unless you're running I/O-intensive tasks you'll get more out of the extra 50 GB.
    +5. Here is the big question. I don't need the computer until mid July. Should I wait to purchase to see if Apple comes out with a better processor and graphics card or is it unlikely this will happen?+
    Although speculation about future Apple releases is +against the Terms of Use for these forums+, it's safe to say that there will ALWAYS be a better processor, better graphics card, faster this, more that, bigger the other released in a few months. That's the computer industry. If you need one, buy now. If you can wait, wait. No matter when you buy, there will always be something better soon. This link may help.
    +6. Any advantage or disadvantage to the 15" over the 17"?+
    Just a different size in a different configuration.
    Go to an Apple Store, try them out!

    Hi all,
    I am a Cost & Management Accountant, at 42 yrs of age. Now I want to switch to SAP Consultancy.
    Until today, I had a 12 years to teaching experience for accounts & finance, cost & management. before that I had some Programming experience in CoBOL.

    I just wanted to point out that skill as a programmer is more important than being able to use any particular language.
    But you may still run into difficulties trying to move from accountancy back into programming. Most employers do want to hire programmers who already know ABAP. So while age shouldn't be an issue, there will be others.

  • Confusion for switching my career from IT Infrastructure Management to SAP Basis or not?

    Hi Guru's,
    I am in IT Infrastructure Management and I have more than 10 years of working experience in multiple companies. I have completed MCA, BCA, CCNA and ITIL and in my last job I was Sr. Manager IT.
    I started my career as a Customer Support Engineer in 2004 and then promoted as a Network Engineer and then Team Leader and then Project Manager and then Asst. Manager IT and finally Sr. Manager IT. I switched 6 companies (ISP,IT,Pharmaceutical, Education etc.). Unfortunately my field demands lot of hard-work and payed very little(I got only 5 lac pa) on the other hand I saw several people who moved in SAP they get higher salaries and growing rapidly.
    I have good knowledge of system administration and network administration. In 2008 to 2011, I worked for a Pharma company(Production Plant) where I saw SAP implementation and was little involved in it. I was involved in client Installation, SAP Solution Manager roll-out etc. I saw SAP basis syllabus and I feel it is easy for me to learn the BASIS fast rather then other SAP modules.
    Now my questions are:-
    Is it worthwhile for me to switch my career in SAP Basis?
    Will the recruiters consider me as a fresher or they consider my experience?
    What is the future growth in SAP Basis with our without certification?
    Which is the best institute to get the training and job placement?
    Your suggestions are appreciable.
    Yours faithfully,

  • Import file to SAP system switch to SAP XI scenario

    Hi,
    we have scenario: download data from 3rd party system to the file and later on import this file to the SAP EPR system.
    What possiblity we have when we want to use SAP XI? Only create new RFC functions to be able upload files? Or it is possible to re-use currect program for upload file?
    And reverse scenario? We download data to file from SAP ERP and later on import to 3rd party system. It is possible to re-use program used for download data?
    Thanks a lot for ideas.
    Regards,
    Roman

    Hi,
    Downloading data from the third party system to File system will be out of XI Job.that ur other team has to take care.
    Coming to Xi
    From the file system to SAP R/3 we can do using XI
    File---XI-SAP R/3( Use IDOC/ RFC/ PRoxy)
    In the other way also
    SAP R/3( IDOC / RFC/ Proxy)--XI--File
    Check this to choose the right adapter when dealing with the SAP R/3 Application

    We are about to start the security role build in our development system. As per my knowledge, there are some authorization switches to be activated before we start the role build through t-code OOAC.
    I would like to know, if changing the value of these switches will have any kind of impact on the overall system configuration and also any points to be taken care of while activating the switches.
    Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

  • Airport Express Confusion - Hubs, Switches, Router

    I am totally frustrated with trying to get my Airport Express to work. I have an older dual-processor G4 WITHOUT an airport card. It is connected to a 4-port Fast Ethernet Hub (Netgear FE-104). Also connected to the Hub is a cable modem and Laserjet printer. When I ordered my new MacBook Pro I asked the Apple sales rep if I could access the internet on the MacBook Pro in another room. I explained exactly the specs above. I asked if I needed an airport card in the G4 and he said no. He recommended ordering an Airport Express (not Extreme) and said to connect the Airport Express to the Hub with an Ethernet cable. I did that and tried and tried to get both computers to access the internet. Nothing worked. I called Apple Tech Support and the very patient guy went through the whole process but told me to connect the Airport Express directly to the cable modem. Well, that defeats everything I am trying to do. He could not get both computers on the network. I called the Apple rep back and he thought there might be something wrong with the AE so I exchanged it. He said I do not need an Airport Extreme, but the Tech Support guy said I did. I hooked the new AE up again as he first suggested...into the HUB. I can only access the internet (one computer at a time) if I plug into the Link/RX Port (only one of these on the HUB). I'm not a network expert but everything on apple.com says this is supposed to be easy to connect 2 computers and use both on the internet simultaneously. I read in DesigningAirportNets.pdf on page 28 that an Ethernet hub is optional. That's what I have. Can anyone help me figure out why this isn't working? I have a HUB but do I need something else? Is Apple's documentation wrong? Isn't the Airport Express a little router? Or is it a Switch? I'm sorry to make this so long but I've spent a ton of hours trying to get this to work. If I bought an Extreme it's not a hub and I can't connect my G4 or printer to it. Thank you for any help.
    G4 dual processor + MacBook Pro (1 month old)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    He recommended ordering an Airport Express (not Extreme)...
    That was bad advice. Your original setup using a hub to connect multiple devices to your cable modem is troublesome and destined to failure.
    He said I do not need an Airport Extreme, but the Tech Support guy said I did.
    The "Tech Support guy" was correct.
    Isn't the Airport Express a little router?
    Yes but since it only has a single Ethernet port, it can not connect to your Ethernet Internet source AND support Ethernet clients at the same time.
    You have 3 choices:
    Return the AirPort Express and get an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). Then you will configure your network like this:
    cable modem-> [WAN] AEBS [LAN]-+-> G4 DP
    ...............................|-> Laserjet
    In that configuration the AEBS will properly share the connection between the Ethernet devices and your MacBook Pro.
    OR...
    Replace your hub with an inexpensive wired router. Then configure your AirPort Express so that the option to distribute IP addresses is disabled. You will configure your network like this:
    cable modem-> router-+-> G4 DP
    .....................|-> Laserjet
    .....................|-> AirPort Express
    In this configuration, the AirPort Express will act solely as a wireless access point. All of your machines will get IP addresses directly from the router.
    OR...
    Return the AirPort Express and get an inexpensive 802.11g compliant wireless base station. You will configure your network like this:
    cable modem-> wireless router-+-> G4 DP
    ..............................|-> Laserjet

  • Confused: Central Switching/Local Switching

    Was wondering if someone could explain local/central switching a little further, when it comes to HREAP/FlexConnect modes for CAPWAP AP's.
    So in our environment, we're running 7.5.102.0 code on all of our WLC's.  We have a central WLC in two of our regions(US and Europe).  Each region provides internet services for the remote sites connected to it.  So a site in Chicago comes back to our central office over an MPLS for their internet services; just as a site in italy comes back to our central office in the UK for their internet service over MPLS.  These remote sites have AP's that are in FlexConnect mode back to the central WLC's.
    My question......I understand that an AP in central switching mode tunnels the traffic back to the central controller, whereas local switching does not.  However, what does that mean?  If the WAN link goes down, how does local switching help?  The internet is still down, since that's how the internet is advertised back from the central location.  Does that just mean that local server can be accessed, over wireles, since we are in local switching mode?  Same question for authentciation;  Our AD servers are located at the central sites, with no AD servers at the remote sites.  In local authentication mode, how would an AP register a user, if the MPLS link is down?  Does it download some sort of cached directory for authentication?
    Thanks for your help!

    Yes, in local switching mode, wireless client traffic locally switched at the branch (you have to defined their SVI on branch switch) and they can access any branch resources whiel WAN link is down. If internet servie is provided by your central office, then they won't get internet services while your WAN link is down.
    If you configured local authentication, yes WLC will pass credential (if WLC has user credential like WAP2-PSK or WEP) to AP where it can use for local authentication. If you are using dot1x with RADIUS & AD, then you should have redundancy  of these services in order to Branch AP to use these in a situation controller is unavailable.

  • Switching from java to sap

    Hi all, i have close to 1.5+ yrs experience in java programming in internet side. Now if i switch to sap, which technology will be best for me? and how can i make the switch without any experience in sap? Thank you for replying........

    Hi,
    I think you have better knowledge in java web applications.
    Netweaver Tech is moving forward in SAP .
    All the Reports, Developements are made to Appear in Enterprise Potal of SAP .
    For Development SAP has ABAP , and Java also used at greater extent.
    In order to bring backend data in SAP with very good design and look , *Web Dynpro Java * is very good.
    So ,  Enterprise Portal Adminstration which deals with configuring , installations,,,,we can deal .
    Which has some important Portal components ....to change or to create new portal components Java plays impotant role.
    When come to WebDynpro Java ..........NWDS IDE is used based on Eclipse. With which u can use your entire java knowledge for better applications.
    So , It will be better for you come for WebDynpro Java --> Then aquire knowledge in Enterprise Portal .
    Any have directly coming with 0 knowledge in SAP is correct . First you have to go through atleast basics for couple of months . Then better you can come . Atleast you should know the field to play the game.
    If helpful ...reward points ...
    Thanks,

  • Geeting Confuse....Help me out...

    Hie Experts,
    I am getting confuse  to switch in functional modules or else stick with abap..
    having 6 months experience of abap. i have offer to switch in to functioal modules like MM.I have done CDAC from pune...
    So for the future aspects whats gud...
    Help me out....
    Regards
    Abhishek

    Hi
    Just being in SAP is good enough, make sure you stick to SAP. you have not mentioned your background here,but If you have relevant academics,then it is better to settle in Functional.
    But If your background is pure technical,and you want to settle in functional side,then you need good domain experience to actually understand how things work in SAP.  This takes lot of time.
    So, decide based on that. But,what ever it is, the most important thing is: You should be ready to put in that extra effort to update your skills from time to time If you want to make a career in SAP.
    But, I prefer doing anything in SAP,as long as it is SAP. :).
    The journey is exciting and challenging.

  • Should Core Industry Professional go for SAP?

    Hi friends,
    I am an Electrical Engineer with 3.8 Years of Experience in Renewable energy sector(Wind Power). I am working as QA Engineer since last 3.8 years.
    I want to shift to SAP field, but unable to identify the Pros and Cons of shifting from Core industries to SAP . Even i dont know for which module i should choose if i go for any SAP certification. Many of my friend suggested that MM is best to get a quick job then QM.
    As its very costly to afford SAP certification and also challenges are high for getting a good opportunity(as originally i am from core sector), I am totally confused which way I should move...??? Pls suggest!!!! Your comments will be valuable for me..
    Regards
    Manoj

    Hi Manoj,
    seeing your experience, you can opt for QM as sujjested by Chandra, when it comes to MM module,
    please understand that it requires domain knowledge of material management. One thing more having a certification in sap never gurantees a job ever.
    So based on your experience you can switch to sap field but you will be considered as a fresher after your job hunt ends, if you wants to get this you can opt for sap modules, also you can be a sap tester.

  • Changing from Periodic inventory system to SAP

    Hi All,
    I have an accounting questions regarding company that switching from Periodic Inventory system to SAP's perpetual inventory system.
    For company that practices Periodic Inventory System, the method to calculate cost of goods sold = opening stock balances + purchases - closing stock balances. All these is reflected in the P&L statement.
    When they switch to SAP, do they need to enter all these figures into SAP for the opening balances?
    As SAP will not have opening balance stock, closing stock and purchases accounts, do they have to create these accounts in P&L just to take in the balances?
    Does anyone have implemented for company that changing from periodic to perpetual inventory system? How do you take in the opening balances? if possible please give example, thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    MH

    Hi All,
    Thanks for the reply. But what is the variance that you guys are talking about? Take example:
    Old system:
    Opening Stock balance = $ 5,000
    +Purchases                  = $20,000
    -Closing Stock balance  = $ 9,000
    Balance                        = $16,000
    The amount that goes into Asset is Closing Balance $9,000 and the amount goes to P&L as COGS is $ 16,000? The rest for $20,000 and $ 5,000 can be ignore?
    Thanks in advance if anyone can answer my question here.
    Regards,
    MH

  • Where to find entry level sap jobs with a Terp10 Certification

    Hello I am a soon to be college graduate graduating this December.
    My question is with a Terp10 certification and no work experience what can I expect from the job market. Are there companies that hire college graduates with no SAP work experience? Are there any resources that help graduates find entry level SAP jobs.

    Hi ,
    Welcome to the World of SAP !
    As a fresher there are lot of options to start the career in SAP domain . As a fresher doing a certification *** training with out any prior experience , the opportunities for getting a job will be very less. SAP is a Enterprise business software which has the Technical ( ABAP,BASIS .......) Functional (SD,PP,MM,FI,...) Techno Functional modules . Choose a very option to get started . Getting a right career is not a tough job for you , search in web , read about sap , lot of online information ,forums available . choosing a career is a brainstorming work , my suggestion drop the idea of doing certification , as you are a fresher and very difficult to get a job without any experience . Please check the links to get start . good luck
