Common misconception that Nokia 701 has two speakers when one is just decorative trim as here:http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-701-Right-speaker-not-working/...

    charmi,
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Help needed with proxy...

    Hi,
    I'm really confused about the proxy instance syntax, the syntax:
    newProxyInstance
    public static Object newProxyInstance(ClassLoader loader,
                                          Class<?>[] interfaces,
                                          InvocationHandler h)
                                   throws IllegalArgumentExceptionI'm not able to understand what should be passed to *"ClassLoader loader"*,
    Here is a portion of the code....
    class Test81{
         public static void consumer(Interface2 iface){
              iface.doSomething();
              iface.somethingElse();
         public static void main(String... args){
              RealObject2 real = new RealObject2();
              consumer(real);
              Interface2 proxy = (Interface2)Proxy.newProxyInstance(
              Test51.class.getClassLoader(), new Class[]{Interface2.class},
              new Test81ProxyHandler(real));
              consumer(proxy);
    }The prb lies in *"Test51.class.getClassLoader()"*, i placed that class randomly, it is nowhere related to this code and still my code is working fine, so i'm really confused wat is the purpose of this *"ClassLoader"*

    it is nowhere related to this code They both use the same system classloader.

  • OTL [Timecard] Modification

    Gurus,
    I have a doubt in OTL modification task...
    The task is,on the Timecared in the column 'Total', '0'[hrs]entry shouldn't get printed on reports
    [i.e '0' entry can submit to database but it shouldn't show on reports.
    OR
    while commiting to database '0' value should be saved as 'null' to database ]
    Exactly what can be done in this case?
    So,What i tried is...
    I took a small scenario like
    1>I created a form which displays records of some table...
    2>then i did 'Insert record' functionality ..
    both[1,2] are working fine.It is displying the inserted record on the form and record is getting saved to database also. :)
    NOW according to task, if i insert '0' for some column say column 'Salary' then while commiting to database that '0' value should be saved as 'null' to database .
    so, I'm lilttle confused wat can be done 'here' at this step ?
    Thanks in adv
    -sDJ

    If you have already extended the EO or VO then iyou can override the setSalary() method
    and in that
    if (value == 0)
      value = null;
    }Else when clicking on apply/save button extend the controller and set the VO attribute corresponding to salary when it is zero to null.
    Thanks

  • Find department from cost center and position

    Hello Experts,
    I have a reqmnt for client, I am producing a report in which i need to find out the department using cost center or position, now i am confused wat department is, does deparment mean org unit or its differnt, where wud be the relation stored between cost center and the department?
    Please advise,
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Yes. department means Org unit. You can create the relationship between the cost center and Org unit in the Activity Allocation infortype IT1008.
    I hope you got the solution same like this. If something different, would you mind to share.
    Good Luck

  • Confusing battery trouble after water spill.  Not quite sure what the problem is but would rather not have to pay for diagnosis.

    Hello there!
    So a few weeks ago now I made a schoolboy error and spilt a small amount of water over my 2009 macbook pro while it was closed.  It wouldn't wake up when I opened it so I decided to try and open it up, although it took me forever to find a screwdriver small enough to get the back off.  When I finally managed to take a look, there was a small amount of moisture on the battery.  I left it to dry for a day or so, although probably not as long as I should have done and then when I tried to boot it up again it worked!
    However!
    Since its been working again, the battery has permenantly said that it's 'not charging' although often it does seem to charge in spite of this.  I had thought / hoped that this might be fixable simply by replacing the battery, but I dont want to spend a load of money on a battery, should there be more to the problem than this.  Also I have noticed that the battery says 'replace soon', rather than 'replace now' which makes me wonder if the problem could in fact be something do with the logic board instead.
    Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do next?  Of course I would like to be able to fix it and have a normal working battery again, but failing that, some insight as to where the problem might lie would be extremely helpful.
    Here is all the battery info, which doesnt really mean much to me, but may be of some use.  Many thanks to anyone who helps!

    Do you know how easy it would be to just take the battery out......
    That depends on your MacBook Pro variant, which we don't yet know (don't know your OSX version either). Different variants and screen sizes have different battery specs. If you need to find out your model before replying, you can enter your serial number in this Apple web page:
    Check Service & Support Coverage
    And it will translate to a model. If that doesn't work (I'm having to give options here because I don;t know your OS version):
    1) For Mac OSX 10.7 "Lion" and later, do "About this Mac" and, in the resulting window, press the "More Info..." button to get this:
    The red arrow I added indicates your model and screen size.
    2) For Mac OS 10.4 through 10.6, do the same except the "More Info..." button will bring up this screen:
    Again my red arrow poiints to pertinent data. Please post that code BUT not any serial numbers. With these OS versions you need to provide the screen size separately, either 13, 15 or 17 inch.
    Once you've gone to this trouble it is a very good idea to add it to your equipment line in your forum profile so helpers don't ahve to go through this again for future questions. See my equip line below for an example of enough info to get fast help.

  • I bought a brand new mac after Apple said I had ruined my MBP with water damage- but now it works fine?

    I'm a little bit confused here. I bought the latest Macbook Pro before university late September 2011, and unfortunately had a little accident involving a leaky bottle of juice.
    I dried it out as much as I could, and took it to my nearest Apple store two days later, where, to my dismay the guys at the Genius bar said it was broken beyond a reasonably priced repair. I was faced with an estimated £800+ bill, or the option to buy a new one.
    As I was going back to Uni for my last term, I needed a computer of some kind and hastily bought the new one. Instead of having it repaired, I stretched an extra £100 on the repair bill and bought the Macbook Air.
    The guy who served me thought it was a good idea for me to buy a new one (obviously) and kept reminding me that even if I do get it repaired, the 'corrosion' could spread and it might need repairing again.
    The problem throughout all of this is after spending ANOTHER £1000 only a few months after buying the first macbook, I am typing on the so called 'water damaged' macbook right now.
    They told me it was completely busted, but apart from cosmetic water marks on the screen I am failing to see what's wrong with it.
    Have I been ripped off? Can I sell the water damaged MBP?
    I hope someone can help me!
    Alexandra

    As far as selling it, I don't know what you would get for it.  I know in my opinion if I was going to buy it and it worked, if it didn't look really bad, I MIGHT buy it, but that would really mean taking a look at it and seeing what is in store and what kind of condition it is in at the moment.  The thing with liquid, it does weird stuff when mixed with electronics.  I once had a portable gaming system that I spilled some pop on.  It didn't work right away because everything was still wet and liquid and electronics don't mix well.  However, after letting it dry off, it worked great.  Only problem I had with it at that point were the buttons started to stick.  And when they stuck, they would cause me to screw up my games sometimes becuase when I would go to push the buttons, they wouldn't go down right away and would be delayed and with games, that is the problem.  When you needed the button pressed now it wouldn't go right away.  This is not necessarily a problem with the computer say if you were typing or anything, but the point being, it may not show serious signs right now, but that doesn't mean that later it isn't going to.  However, as stated above, you might be able to get something for it as there are other parts worth value.  Maybe not the full computer, but pieces to part out if someone else were to find one that needed parts because there were parts of theirs that went bad and needed replaced.  I think if you were to fully disclose what happened and let them know that there could be something still going on with it that may cause a problem down the line, you might find someone who wants to try out a mac before making that purchase of $1000 to buy a new one.  I would try to sell it, worst thing that happens is you don't sell it because nobody wants it, but if that is the case you are no different then you are now.

  • Confused about projects after moving from iPhoto

    Hi
    I recently moved 13k+ photos and 347 projects from iPhoto to A3 primarily for the better editing capabilities of A3.  I shoot for fun , not professionally
    i am reading the A3 manual and their screenshots seem to show another structure in place then mine (see image).
    basically, under the Projects & Albums, I have a duplication of every project that is seen in the Aperture 3 Library, Projects view i.e. a long list of 347 projects  Is this normal?
    if so, I think what is confusing me is why the redundancy since in iPhoto, all i used were Events/Projects and keywords to organize and not sure why each project also appears seperately below in the Projects and Albums section
    I think I understand smart albums and will create using keywords since albums are just a collection of aliases (correct?) so I can create, delete as needed, just like in iTunes
    that being the case, why would I use folders?  often one of my projects could consist of multiple activities (ex. vacation which has hiking, camping, water shots, wildlife, etc) so I am not sure how or why I would use folders.
    I guess I could have a folder labeled Vacations and stick projects in that or could i just also assign a keyword "vacations" and then I could search for photos that are vacations and wildlife?
    If i use folders, then when i import a project, i guess I would need to assign it to a folder?
    Also a project could contain multiple folders and albums?
    maybe i am confused because there too many choices
    thanks for any advice

    Yes, now that we can see your your screenshot it is easier to understand what you are asking. Kirby's brief naming essay will have given you already a very good introduction to the library structure, and I am sure he will elaborate on that when he returns to this thread. Just a few additional pointers  to the different sections of the Inspector window; for coming from iPhoto you might be puzzled; everything seems to be there twice, which can be confusing.
    The upper part of the Inspector panel (With the Heading "Aperture 3 Library and with Projects, Faces, Places, Photos ...) offers different views of your Library: Each view projects (like the vies of a database) the metadata of your images and groups the images in a specific way: in the "Faces View" you can assign names to the faces and browse the images grouped according to persons, in the Places View you assign locations and group according to locations, etc. You use these views for specific tasks.
    The lower part, with the headline "Projects & Albums" organizes your storage structure, like Kirby described in his post.
    A flat structure with 300 projects at the same level will make the access difficult, even if you use smart albums - for you, and or Aperture as well.
    If you think about it, the folder structure is static and created once, when you import your images. That does not need  much processing on Aperture's side when you reopen a Aperture Library.
    The smart albums are dynamic - computed each time you change or assign a metadata tag. And if your smart albums are defined in the scope of the whole library, then each time you change a keyword all of your library has to be processed. So if you are not too fond of watching the beachball spinning, it is wise to be frugal with the use of smart albums and don't use them for tasks that can easily be solved by the static organisation. Also folders can be used to limit the scope of smart albums - why search for images of grizzlies in your Hawaii projects; if all your Alaska projects are contained in one folder, you can define a smart album of bears inside that folder, and thus avoid searching the anniversary images and other vacation shots.
    Bummer - none of the iPhoto keywords seen to have come across
    That really is a bummer - how did you import your iPhoto library?
    Regards
    Léonie

  • More confused than ever which HDV camcorder to buy

    I do whitewater rafting videos. Have MacPro 2.16Intelcore2 duo, 1 gig memory with 111.47gig harddrive using imovie6. Super fast footage processing needed for quick souvenir DVD turnaround. Considering new 3chipHD JVC camcorder with 60gig harddrive for faster than realtime downloading(in theory!). 1)Will this GZ-7 work and if so, how much faster than real time will it download? Also noticed that it is much faster to record a DVD in realtime to a Philips DVD recorder than it is to export to iDVD and burn. I burn the video back to DV tape, rewind and firewire record the movie to the Philips DVD recorder (Since the Macbook doesn't recognize the Philips as a recorder) 2)Which DVD recorder would the imovie recognize? 3) Is there any way to beat real time recording with my current set-up? Here's the concept: Chase a raft trip and get 8 to 10 mins footage. Upload it to an imovie that already has stock shots and music, make a few quick edits and burn as many DVDs as possible before people leave. I have roughly 30 to 45 minutes to produce say six finished DVDs. The longer I look the more confused I am which camera to buy ($1500 budget) and the fastest way to get mutiple DVD copies finished. I've looked at stacked multiple DVD recorders and wonder if they will work to record at real time - say 5 DVDs at once using firewire from imovie or is it just another box of empty promises?

    from a movie-makers point of view I'm more on tilmans side... (sorry, Kirk )
    sure, Kirk's recommendation, DVDcorders, produce fast instant-dvds.. but including all errors while recording... no extras, no 'good lookin' '
    I would:
    * use any standard miniDV camera (you get water-proof cases for...)
    * for superb quality, get a 3ccd with a large ccd ...
    * I would create a 'frame' project in iM... that includes:
    a nice intro, a standard message 'hi, I'm scc, and THIS is your ride of a lifetime..', add some 'stock' footage (=best scenes), perpare an iPhoto album of stock-pics (map of your canyon etc), an iTunes playlist (your Garageband projects )...
    after recording, double-click on that 'frame project', and first step, save it under a unique name ('tour 12may07') ... that keeps your 'frame' intact for future use...
    import your few minutes of fame, use the crop feature (oops, you're using v5? upgrade to v6... ), add the few scenes, save project. launch iDVD, add your ready-made backgrounds and DVD-intro animation, etc. and select iM project under media... burn disk.
    to multiply that disks, use a copier as tilman recommend it, use Toast's copy feature, or use a HDD/DVD standalone (I'm owning a Pioneer DVR520), which also allows a very fast copying of DVDs...

  • Confused. So a new mac came out? what exactly is the migration about?

    Ok so I havent been to the apple site in forever and I c that they came out with a new mac, so do the old ones need any updates or new parts?? Im confused. What is the whole migration about? I havent done anything to my macpro since I bought it last christmas.

    Hey Amanda, and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Great to see another Okie in here...
    What exactly are you refereeing to when you say "What is the migration about"?
    The prev responses are correct in the fact that you don't need any new parts for your Mac. Occasionally about every six months Apple as other manufactures will release a great new product that will make people water at the mouth forcing them to give in to the over powering urge to spend money, that's what they're all about... making money. Your Mac-Pro or (you probably meant Macbook Pro) will last you many years with the OS and hardware it has, but as tjk said you need to perform the Apple Software updates from time to time (the Mac is defaulted to update automatically) to ensure you have the latest and greatest software for the OS you are running.

  • How to make 'coal falling downwards' and 'steam, water &air going in horizontal tube' in flash???

    I have to make animation in flash
         as COAL is falling from Coal Hopper
         Steam, Water & Air going in horizontal tube,verticle tube and slanted tube in 2D
    Can anybody tell me how to do it effectively??
         I tried using Particle illusion software and magic particles software and i am unable to get it
    It will be very helpful to me if u can tell this
    Thanx in advance

    I won't be able to try the Apple Hardware test right away because I don't have time to disconnect everything to run the test. I might also get into my computer to check for dust on the graphics card if I can find good instructions on removing it. While prowling the other topics from people having similar problems I came across this link:
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/Graphics/radeon_X1900XT/X1900XT_dust_buildup.html#sto rytop
    Having a unit that looks that bad is a definite possibility for me as I have cats and dogs.
    I'm confused about your logic board comment. Why did you say that's a good lifespan for a portable when I'm discussing my Mac Pro? Is my logic board listed in "About this Mac"? If so, where? My hard drive accidently got fried by a tech just before my APP ran out and I know quite a few things got replaced but I can't remember exactly what. I'm wondering if that is newer that the stock logic board that came with the computer.

  • Nokia e5-00 Dropped in water

    hey i dropped my phone in water and then i dried it with a blow dryer put it in rice blah blah blah. then it turned on a seems to work fine except when i use the keypad only the number symbol comes up or a square. like no numbers or letters come up. i cant type messages. and when i scroll through my inbox it marks all the messages. im confused i think my number lock is on or something

    @dfektrisk
    There are no guarantees here as every situation different but number one priority is usually to get data off the device if it starts up again, as can take a while before true effects of any corrosion started become apparent.

  • NOKIA N8 "CLAIMED" WATER INGRESSION...WILL NOT FIX...

    Over the last few weeks i have been going through a intense trial of trying to get help from Nokia over my phone. I originally took my handset in because i believed it had software problems, ie: constantly re-booting and finally would not turn on at all. To my surprise, when i went to retrieve my phone, i were told, the phone was dead due to water ingression. Now, this is when i arced up! My phone was and still is in pristine condition, it has never ever been subjected to moisture in any way. it has always been protected in a cse, evident by the perfect carriage and screen, and never left anywhere it could get close to moisture. This fault i were then told, of course voided my warranty. SO, I HAVE A SIX MONTH OLD N8, EXTREMELY WELL LOOKED AFTER, AND NOKIA DO NOT WANT TO KNOW! On further investigation, there are literally thousands of complaints of this nature concerning this phone. So here we have an obviously inherant problem with this phone {and others i hasten to add} and NOKIA will not address it. Nokia care centres are a complete joke. they are trained it seems in the art of "fobbing" people off, the more they say no, eventually people give up...well guess what nokia, i will never give up. the telecommunications ombudsman has been informed as too the consumer affairs department. both who have advised me, NOKIA CANNOT USE THE WATER INGRESSION ARGUMENT FOR THEIR PHONES, THEY ARE STILL COVERED BY "STATUTORY WARRANTY CONDITIONS". Apparently Nokia and carriers such as VODAFONE have both been warned by these bodies concerning this. I WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS NOKIA, AND I WANT IT NOW. MY TIME IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN A HANDSET, BUT THERE IS A PRINCIPLE HERE!!! STAND BY YOUR WARRANTIES AND FIX THESE INFERIOR PHONES!!!!!!!!
    total state of confusion
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    @beang1
    I like you am here in Australia. Under current Australian law phone companies (manufacturers and telco's) cannot use water ingress as an excuse to get out of their warranty obligations. This has been stated by Graham Samuel - head of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission - who is responsible for overseeing the provisions of the Trade Practices Act. He has stated on talk back radio that he is sick of phone companies using water ingress as an excuse to get out of their obligations. He has also stated that the commission has recently, successfully, taken legal action against both Vodaphone and 3. The commission I believe from what he has said is in the process of taking legal action against Telstra and Optus. He has also intimated that he has others (Nokia) in his sights.
    Is your phone on a contact with a Telco or did you buy it outright? If it is on a contract with a telco then it is the responsibility of the Telco (under the provisions of the Statutory Warranty) to fix your phone.
    I suggest you take this matter up with the ACCC and your Local Office of Consumer and Business Affairs.
    Graham Samuel has also stated if anyone is having problems with a Telco or phone manufacturer to get in contact with the ACCC (not the Ombudsman) and let them know of your complaint. I did this just recently in regard to Apple Australia and was told the ACCC is in negotiations with Apple in respect of the fact that apple products (iphone and iPad) do not work out of the box which is contrary to Australian Law. Apparently this will be rectified with ios 5.

  • Oracle Hot Backup Confusion

    Hi everybody,
    This is regarding a confusions on Oracle Hot-Backup.
    Suppose i have 3 Online Redo Logs and i have put a tablespace in Backup Mode.
    So as a result whatever changes are made,Oracle will start generating redo for the entire block so as to avoid Fractured Blocks.
    Wat my Question is what if,while in the process of doing this all my Online Redo Logs files/members gets filled up how do then Oracle Manage to go ahead and keep recording the Transactions/Changes made to a Certain Block in the Tablespace.
    1.>Does Oracle Perform a Recovery from the Archived Redo Logs once the Tablespace taken out Backup Mode.
    2.>Or is there a reclamation/Re-sizing of On-line redo log file Space from other Segments.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prosenjit Mukherjee.

    >
    I am not even sure that what the #2 means! Anways!
    Suppose i have 3 Online Redo Logs and i have put a tablespace in Backup Mode.It doesn't matter how many redo log groups you have and AFAIK this has no relation with a tablespace being in the backup mode whatsoever.
    So as a result whatever changes are made,Oracle will start generating redo for the entire block so as to avoid Fractured Blocks.Partially correct! The whole block gets copied only for the first time . For subsequent changes, only the change vectors go into the log buffer and then from there, to the redo log files. This is exactly equivalent to what does happen without a tablespace being not in the backup mode.
    Wat my Question is what if,while in the process of doing this all my Online Redo Logs files/members gets filled up how do then Oracle Manage to go ahead and keep recording the Transactions/Changes made to a Certain Block in the Tablespace.What does this mean exactly? If you fill up the redo logs, log switch will follow making teh LGWR switching from the current redo log group to the next, triggering checkpoint which would make the DBWR write the buffers to the datafile. I am not sure what is the confusion?
    Edit: I apologize , I read this point a little too fast! If all the log files are going to be filled up, database would be hung. There won't be any more transactions allowed as there is no place to write their change vectors anywhere. Sorry , I understood in the first time that you were talking about the standard log switching.
    1.>Does Oracle Perform a Recovery from the Archived Redo Logs once the Datafile is taken out Backup Mode.What recovery? Before the files go into the backup, there is a "global checkpoint" that is performed for them , pushing all of their buffers from the cache to them and then after the checkpoint is freezed for them, yet letting them do all the read/write operations. Once they come out of the backup mode, when the next time a checkpoint is performed, then their number gets synched with the rest of the database. From where the recovery comes into the picture here?
    2.>Or is there a reclamation/Re-sizing of On-line redo log file Space from other Segments.As I said before, I didn't understand at all what this point even means?
