Confused about domains also: did I get screwed?

I upgraded to ilife08 because f the domain support...I am pretty sure I misinterpreted this feature though. I thought it meant Apple finally added support for domains that are not on the .mac server. I pay for my own hosting that has worked fine over the years and I have no need to pay for a .mac account. I finally thought I would be able to publish sites made with iweb directly without having to save to a folder then upload using dreamweaver (which I would still need occasionally due to the limitations of iweb). Can someone shed some light on this? Am I correct that I still would have to buy a .mac account to use iweb?

thought that "support for your own domain" would've meant click the publish button and it will upload to whatever site you point to - just like with Dreamweaver.
Not for anyone who knew the difference between "domain name" and "host" or who actually read the relevant part of the iWeb page: "Personal domain names.
Give your site a personal touch with an address like www.yourcoolname.com *using .Mac.*"
The one thing one might have thought, in error, was that Apple would start selling domain names itself for use on .Mac.
The domain forwarding that iWeb '08 claims as a feature could've been done with a simple redirector on my site.
I don't think so. People have been using simple redirectors (possibly with masking) for this purpose for years, but many don't like the results in the browser address window. A major point of of new .Mac system is to make the address window show your personal name plus the path needed to bookmark individual pages, with no mention of apple or the username.

Confused about AS3 buttons (did read David Stiller's blog)

I'm trying to convert an AS2 file over to AS3 and I can't get
the buttons to work. They do not want to gotoAndStop at certain
frames in specific scenes. In the following code, if you click on a
button it works fine, but when you attemp to change to a new Scene,
it breaks and both buttons won't work thereafter. I've tried
everything for almost a day now and cannot get this to work and
cannot find any reference to the problem. Is AS3 buttons not able
to go to a new scene as it suggests in the Help files?:

configure
your publish settings for AS2 or AS1, and bingo. It all
depends on what
you're trying to accomplish. If your aim is to output to TV,

The 3D and inverse kinematics (IK) tools, new to CS4, are
hardly
something I'd call embarrassing. On the contrary, they're
cool all hell!
True, the 3D tools require the FLA to be configured for AS3,
but no
scripting is required to use 3D or IK (though you *can*
script them if you
want to).
The blend modes and filter effects introduced in Flash 8
were a welcome
edition. They didn't hinder anyone's workflow, as far as I
know. If you
wanted to use them, great! If not, great! Improved text
rendering has been
a joy ... and again, use it or not -- the choice has always
been up to the
designer's whim.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic in this line, but
either which
way, the answer (at least, from my perspective) is a
pragmatic one. Use the
timeline when doing so takes the least amount of work; the
reverse holds
true for code. There are plenty of animations --
specifically, character
animations, including lipsynch -- that, for me, are easier to
do by hand, by
direct manipulation of the symbols with my mouse and/or
graphics tablet.
I find it easier to design complex gradients using the
drawing tools. I
often find it easier to design complex tween eases by hand.
When I'm
working on animation, I tend not to code as often; when I'm
building a
Flash-based website, it's likely to be a combination of
timeline techniques
and code; when I'm writing applications, it's obviously a
case of
mostly-code.

Writing custom classes is another layer of technique.
Depending on your
workflow, it may or may not be useful. For what it's worth, I

Under the hood (meaning, in the SWF) all those scenes are
ultimately
converted to one big timeline anyway. Granted, the use of
scenes is a
convenient organizational tool during authoring, and I don't

scenes-with-ActionScript would be equally convenient, but
again ... scenes
have been "broken" in ActionScript for a long time. It looked
like Flash
CS3's AS3 finally resurrected the workflow, and -- for the
time being -- it
looks like CS4 might somehow be missing the mark. If so, as
kglad proposes,
the AS3 gotoAndPlay() issue is a bug in CS4, and we can hope
for a fix from
Adobe.

Are you confused about accessing the Lion iTunes Get Info menu from mouse?

I was...for some reason Lion was shipped with the right click (secondary) turned off, which is how you access the Get info Menu in iTunes from the mouse. So just go into Apple menu choose system preferences. Choose mouse and check the secondary click box. Then you are good to go back into iTunes choose a song and right click to get the Get info menu...

This has nothing to do with iTunes.
It is the OS System prefs.

My daughter has an old itouch, she uses my apple I'd. I just got her a new I touch, and want to register it, but give her her own apple Id. I just backed up or synced her old itouch to the computer and now I am setting up her new one. If I give her a new apple Id will she then loose all her apps and songs from her old itouch? Please help!! I thought it was supposed to say something like restore from back up or something like that? Maybe that is a next step after I give her her own apple id?

I had updated my ipod 4th gen I got over the summer to IOS6 and i do not like it but before I installed it it said I would gain Siri and thats the only reson I tried it out... Did I get Screwed?

I had downloaded IOS6 due to a friend being curious and The message telling me what would be gained. The part where it said I would gain Siri intrigued me so I installed it and I dont see any compatability or can even find Siri... Any resons to why???

I am pretty sure you read it wrong. The update notes probably mentioned Siri on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, "The new" iPad, and the 5th Generation iPod Touch.

There are two aspects to iCloud. One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud. The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration). If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7). Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address. You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

Domain.xml gets screwed up

Multiple times now, the Server is unable to start up. The last time it sat there, apparently in a loop greating over a 1 GB log file. Previously, I reinstalled Creator to solve the problem. The last time, I traced it to domain.xml.
Fortunately there was a backup file that worked.
However, I do not modify this file myself, and thus have no clue as to how to fix it. Creator manages this file, so when it gets screwed up, this is surely a bug.
It is very frustrating, and usually occurs when my project has some error that does not allow it to deploy properly.

I can personally ensure you get it if after waiting the 60 days you still haven't recieved it yet.
You would also want to ensure:
- You have the annual (yearly) Creative Cloud plan
- You log into the Creative Cloud website from within 3 of the Adobe Touch Apps from the tablet using your Adobe ID associated with your membership
If all this looks correct and you don't recieve an email after the 60 days, send me a private message and I'll ensure you get it.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

What model computer do you have? some early trackpads will not support all gestures.
Front Row was dropped by Apple in Lion. I beleive it can be recovered from Snow Leopard, I haven't tried it myself.

Hi. I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. I'm still confused as to why I'd get an email saying I had to call the fraud department only to be told I shouldn't have called the fraud department.

PE9 get confused about displaying images

Been using PE9 for a few weeks and within the past couple of days it seems to get confused about which image should be displayed within the timeline. Have a medium size project with 30-40 jpg's in it and when shown in the timeline (or in the monitor window), PE9 replaces the image associated with a particular file with an image from another file. In the Project list you can get Properties and the path\file name shows up perfectly but PE9 uses the image from another file. Tried closing the project, and PE9 - no help. Tried re-booting Windows 7 (64 bit) - nop help. This seems to get worse as time goes on and I have not been able to find a solution.

There seems to be an occasional issue with downloads from the store. They prompt for authorization when they are in fact corrupt/incomplete in some fashion. Try deleting the problem tracks (do not hide from iTunes in the cloud), close iTunes and reopen, go to iTunes Store > Qucklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer. Select a few tracks to download then click the icon that appears at the top-right of the iTunes window.. Untick the box that reads Allow simultaneous downloads. Proceed with the rest of your eligible purchases.
If you still have a problem use the Report a problem links in your account history to contact the iTunes Store support team.

Not usually.
Apple has had similar offerings every year, to which they always establish a time interval for elligibility. I've not seen where they give credit to prior sales on the education perks.
