Confused about usage email

Hi, having a couple of problems lately, its a bit of a 2 part problem and im hoping somone can help.
1. I received an email tody telling me that ive reached 7GB usage of the 10GB, even though i was only set up on the 30th of March, thats just over a week. there is no way i could of reached this in just over a week, not with what i use the internet for.
In fact i was so suprised that i had to check the hub settings, mine reads; Data Transmitted/Received (GB):0.3 / 4.2 Does this seem right? im not quite sure
2. when i checked in mybt, the usage says this message "theres no recent usage because you do not have any products or services linked to this account."
what does this mean? its the same when i check the bill, theres no charge, no usage. Maybe its an error, i cant be sure.
Can anyone shed some light on this? im giving them a ring tommorow either way.

I wouldn't bother trying to ring BT.
It seems that one is put through to a curry takeaway somewhere in the world where the spoken English is barely understandable.
I have received 2 emails from BT about exceeding my broadband usage I have 40GB.
My normal usage is apparrently 17gb per month, I have exceeded in 2 days the remaining usage of 23 gb.I am not doing anthing different from normal.
I have notified the takeaway that they have tested & told me that there is a problem.
Bt have sent 2 engineers out, one replaced the modem, the second tested and replaced the hub as faulty.
They have also said there is a problem on the line. Thats it, no answer given as to what happens next other than my bill is exceedingly high.
Would not bother trying to get in touch with BT.
I am looking at Virgin who are really touting business.
As for BT, they want £300.00 cancellation of service, they can swing, If they take me to court all the better I will make sure that the press hear how they are hounding a pensioner which I am. I would rather go to jail and live better than continue with the useless and disgraceful service that I get from BT.

  • Confused about usage of usage types (NW2004s vs. NW 7.1 vs. NW mobile 7.1)

    Hello all
I'm confused about the different combination possibilities / restrictions when it comes to compare NW2004s, NW PI 7.1 PI and NW Mobile 7.1. I already consulted the Master Guides and technical installation guides but am still confused. So if someone could shed some more light on it it would be great!
We plan to implement our interfaces, whether internal (system to system) or external (customers, suppliers) using XI (now called PI, right?). But we also intend to develop and run mobile apps (occasionally conected ones). So my questions around it are:
    1) Do we need to install at least two separate servers for this? I mean:
    - 1 server for SAP Netweaver PI 7.1
    - 1 server for SAP Netweaver Mobile 7.1
    2) Or is possible to have all this on one single server using SAP Netweaver 2004s with usage types AS ABAP, PI and Mobile.
    3) Is usage type AS JAVA required when choosing usage type Mobile?
    4) What would you recommend for production environments (note: I'm aware of the sizing / scaling question but I'm only interested in some kind of best practices advices in terms of maintenance, patching, etc.).
Thanks anyone for some input on it
    BR

Thanks Russell and Larissa for your clarifications.
Re-checked the master guide for NW 2004s (7.0) and now found the relevant text in chapter 3.3.1 on pages 30 + 31. Must have overlooked it the 1st time.
    Other questions:
    a) What is the difference between a installation of NW 7.0 with usage type AS ABAP and PI compared to NW PI 7.1 ?!?
    b) What is the difference between an installation of NW 7.0 with usage type AS ABAP and Mobile compared to NW Mobile 7.1 ?!?
Do the 7.1 versions contain real newer releases or is it just another packaging of same components? What are the advanteges of the 7.1 versions?
Thanks again in advance for some more clarification!

  • Confused about my email address

On my Account Profile, under Personal Information, my Verizon Email Address is listed as {edited for privacy} But when I send emails, the name on them is [email protected] Also, when I send myself an email at {edited for privacy}, it gets bounced with this error "550 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias:{edited for privacy} (state 14)"
I really want to use the {edited for privacy} address. What is going wrong?

Assuming that you are using the "New" Verizon webmail interface:
    1) When you click on Compose and the new email  template shows up with the bogus email from address, if you click on the down arrow at the right end of the From line, do you see your real email address? I am not experiencing the problem you are, but when I click on the down arrow I do see an email address in addition to mine that starts with "reszp" that of course I did not define and don't use.
    2) If you do see your own address, can you select that and it all work? If so, at least you can get around the issue that way.
    3) Have you tried going into Settings ==> Email Settings and changing the Default From address to something else, saving it, then changing it back and saving that to see if that will fix the problem?
This is from memory, so please don't hold me to it, but I seem to remember, from somewhere in the past, that your email address that you define is really, under the covers, an alias for a Verizon real address. And I think that real email address is what you are now seeing, for some unknown reason. I have no idea why Verizon's email system would be set up that way, it may have something to do with internal routing, but I think all of us have some extra email address starting with "res" or something like that, that is normally not visible to us.
Please try what I suggested above and let us know if it helps.

You don't give enough information to do more than discuss the issue in general terms.
You should be able to read your email wherever you can get an internet connection.
To send email, it depends on the email provider you are using.  Gmail and other web based mail should not have any issues.  However, if you are attempting to use an account that uses your ISP's mail servers, you will probably not be able to send mail.  You may want to check with your ISP in that case, to see if they offer webmail.
Hope this may have answered your question.

  • I'm confused about the apple ID transition from my aol screen name. Does it continue to use my aol email as my apple ID, converting it somehow or do I need to provide a new email address or just create a new username for the apple ID?

I'm confused about the transition to an apple ID that doesn't use my aol email to sign in. The instructions are vague and ambiguous. Any help would be appreciated.

OK, so if your current Apple ID using your AOL Username (like johndoe), then you need to log onto Manage your Apple ID and EDIT that AOL Username to a valid email address: Apple - My Apple ID
If you have an AOL email address (like [email protected]), and you are not using that as another Apple ID, you can change the AOL Username Apple ID to that. Otherwise, you can change it to any valid email address (which you will have to verify when you change to it).
Hope that clears it up. Post back if it doesn't!

  • I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please!

I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please! Also, I still don't understand exactly what the benefits are. At the moment it seems a lot of hassle to change a system that's been working perfectly well and that I'm very happy with. I'm not at all sure whether the mac mini (1.66 GHz INtel Core Duo) can be brought up to the relevant spec to run ICloud.  Any thoughts?

There are two aspects to iCloud.  One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud.  The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration).  If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7).  Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html  You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address.  You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

  • I'm new and confused about "connection" things

I'm new to BlackBerry--I have an 8320 Curve, I'm a small business owner and I'm not connected to a BES. I use the BB Desktop Manager to synchronize with Outlook and to back up my BB and I've done pretty well on most things, but I still have a few things I'm confused about. In this forum, I'll ask my "confusion questions" concerning data options.
I have a "pay as you go" data plan with AT&T, my provider, because there is virtually no cell reception at my home where I also work. (I'm not using my BB for email since I'm in front of my computer most of the time). I have a home network set up and I've incorporated a router that supports wireless. I've connected a netbook to the wireless network and used it to surf the Internet, so, I know my wireless connection works. I've also managed to create a wireless connection on my BB to this network and on the Home screen, it will display my wireless network's name when I'm here at home, so, I know the device is connected to my network.
BUT, I don't think I'm actually using my home wireless network...I tried the other day by browsing the Internet and then AT&T told me I incurred data charges--which I thought I shouldn't have if I wasn't using their network. Either I'm wrong about assuming they won't charge me if I use my network or I have something set up incorrectly on my BB...can anyone provide some guidance?
Next, I don't truly understand what BIS is...I searched through the KB and couldn't find anything that actually defines BIS...could somebody please explain what BIS is?
Finally, can somebody please explain the difference between "mobile network" and "wi-fi"? It seems, if I turn off "mobile network" I have no connection at all, including wi-fi. Is that the way things should be? But, I can turn off wi-fi and still get a connection (if I go outside as far from my house as possible and face south <g>).
Thanks...and now I'm off to the BB Desktop Manager forum to ask a few questions there!
    Solved!

Hi and Welcome to the forums!
I can help you with one or two of your questions:

BIS is Blackberry Internet Service...a service, hosted by your carrier, that provides a conduit between internet facing email systems (e.g., Yahoo, GMail, etc.) and your BB. Inside of BIS, you create conduits for each of your email providers that you desire to receive OTA email for on your BB. BIS will check your provider on a periodic basis (documented to be every 15 minutes) and only when there is something that needs to come to your BB does it generate any traffic over the carrier network with your BB. BIS is an add-service, only available to those who, from their carrier, contract for The Blackberry Data Plan (as it is usually called) -- a generic data plan is not usually adequate to have access to BIS.

Mobile Network is your carriers network...data and/or voice services provided OTA for your BB. WiFi is wireless networking (802.11a/b/g/n) through your home WAP, hotspots, etc. I don't know if turning off Mobile Networ should or should not affect your ability to continue to use WiFi...I would think they are separate, but I don't have a BB model with WiFi.
I know nothing about the pay-as-you-go programs, but from all you describe, it seems that you may well be using your carrier network at times. You will need to find out (and there are others here who know) how to shut off your carrier network yet leave WiFi running so that you don't incurr the costs of surfing via the carrier network.
    Hope that helps a little!

  • Confused about different calendars

I have a Macbook Pro, an iPhone 5, and an original iPad.
I am confused about the purpose of the different Calendars: Home, Calendar, iCloud, and Calendar([email protected]).
Also listings on my iPad "Show Calendars" : From My Mac, cal.me.com, and [email protected]
I am retired and have no work commitments so I just need one calendar that I can access and put events in from all 3 devices and can see them on all 3 devices.
I find that if I put events in from my Macbook, they show up on both ioS devices, but if I put an event in on my iPad, it does not show up on my Macbook regardless on which Calendar I enter it on.
Is there somewhere I can find in simple terms which calendar I can use on all 3 devices and delete the others?
    Thank you.

  • Confused about conversation grouping Lion vs. Snow Leopard

    Hello All,
I just upgraded. Literally just finished. I was checking out mail, and I am confused about how Mail 5 groups messages for conversations. In SL I had Mail group related messages as well, and it's a feature I really enjoy. Conversations just makes it that much better. But, I notice that Lion groups message differently than both SL and iOS. Now, it is no longer grouping emails that are all from various people but are part of the same thread. It is grouping multiple messages from the same sender, even if they have nothing to do with each other, or are only loosely connected.
It used to be (and still is on my iPhone) for example, that all the emails eminating from a single thread topic on one of my class forums would all group together. They have the same subject line and formatting. It was heaven. Will there be no way of doing this?
Also, now all the emails from the teacher of that class, regardless of the relevancy or subject line, group together in one conversation. It's annoying in a way, but I think I can get used to that. Does anyone know if these will be able to be changed in the future?
    Thanks

As a Mac power user - LION IS A DISAPPOINTMENT
Apple needs to seriously consider briniging back
      • SPACES: the capability to move up as well as down to access applications
AND have applications stay in a desgnated space makes it much easier
to run multiple applicatioins - especially in a multi-monitor environment
      • SAVE AS: Saving various versions of a file is difficult with Lion.
If I want a 3 versions of a document - with different pictures, it takes too many "clicks" to accomplish
this task.  LET ME CHOOSE HOW I STORE FILES
      • COPY COMMAND: Snow Leaopard allowed me to copy files to a storage device AND if the file
was already written to the device - the option to NOT REPLACE the file existed.  This made it
easy to backup work on a portable drive.
LION ONLY has two options - copy all or make an addition copy of the file, causing storage bloat
APPLE NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER PUTTING THESE FEATURES BACK INTO THEIR OS FOR THE BUSINESS AND POWER USER

  • Confused approach to emails

Yesterday I received the below email.  Why has Apple introduced so much confusion into the email process.  The reason I signed up for a ***@mac.com about 8 years ago is because this is the email I wanted.  I do not now want **@me.com nor **@icloud.com.  It comes across as totally confused and offers no coherence to the end user.  In addition it confuses people you are sending emails to as someitmes they receive messages from **@me.com and other times it comes from **@mac.com.
The introduction of iCloud and mobile seems to make life quite complicated now!  So my quetstion is, can you delete the **@me.com and **.icloud.com email addresses?
All new iCloud Mail accounts now come with an @icloud.com email address. As an existing user, we'd like to offer you this new address as well. We have reserved [email protected] for you, and you can now use this address with your iOS devices and computers by following these simple instructions.
If you prefer, you can continue to use your current email address just as you always have.
No matter which address you use, you'll continue to receive all your mail, whether it's sent to your @me.com, @mac.com, or @icloud.com address.

You can't delete these addresses. Just use @mac.com and ignore the others. The tech note linked to in the email you received:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5441
tells you how to set up @icloud.com as a default 'from' address and of course the same instructions can be applied to @mac.com.

  • I'm horribly confused about student licensing and commercial use

As the title says I'm horribly confused about student licensing and using it for commercial use.
I currently have a Student Licensing version of Adobe Creative Suite 4 that I purchased through my school's journeyEd portal.
Seeing how CS5 is now out I was browsing looking at prices (why not upgrade while I'm still a student, right?) and while browsing I bumped into one source that says that Student Licensing can not be used for commercial purposes, and this is when the confusion started. I remember reading before that we are able to use student licensing for commercial purposes, okay time to google search. I found one Adobe FAQ that says I can. .
    http://www.adobe.com/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
" Can I use my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software for commercial use?
Yes. You may purchase a Student and Teacher Edition for personal as well as commercial use. "
    and I found this old thread;
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/314304
Where an poster listed as an employee of Adobe states
"There is no upgrade from the CS3 Educational Edition to the comparable CS3 editions sold in non-academic environments. If you have an educational version of for CS3 obtained legitimately (i.e., you qualified for the educational version when you obtained it), you may continue to use that software for the indefinite future, even for commercial use! You cannot sell or otherwise transfer that license, though! When the next version of the Creative Suite is released, you will have two choices: (1) If you still qualify for the educational version, you can buy a copy of that next version (there is no special upgrade pricing from one educational version to another; the price is already very low) or (2) you can upgrade from the educational version of CS3 to the full version of the next version of the Creative Suite as an upgrade from CS3 at the prices published at that time. "
Okay cool, hmm what this? Adobe is asking me if I want to IM with live costumer service agent, sure why not? Then the conversation started and I asked her my question about using my CS4 license for commercial use, she asks for my product code and email to verify my product, then informs me I can purchase the upgrade version of CS5 and use that for commercial, okay great, but not really answering my question. I reword it and give her a link to that FAQ page it goes like this. ..
"[CS Rep] : [My name], I would like to inform you that Adobe Student and Teacher Editions are not allowed for
    commercial use.
[CS Rep] : However, you can upgrade your current software to a normal upgrade version, and you can continue
    using it for commercial purpose.
[Me] : Then is the FAQ page mistaken? Because it is very misleading if it is. But thank you for the information.
[CS Rep] : You are welcome.
[CS Rep] : I apologize for the misleading information in the FAQ."
. .And after that, I went back to being confused.
SO my questions are. . . Can I or can't I use my Adobe Creative Suite 4 student licensing for commercial purposes? and If I purchase a Student Licensing of CS5 can I use that for commercial purposes as well?
Sorry for the long post, I just want to be perfectly clear on what I can and can not do with my purchase.

The rules differ in various parts of the world. In North America you can use it for commercial work.
There are no student/academic upgrades. The pricing is so low that in many cases you're better off buying another full student license but you are eligible for upgrade pricing for commercial versions once you're out of school.
You may not transfer the student license in any way.

  • Confused about capability of extensions

    Hi,
I'm a bit confused about what extensions are used for. I've
never used any, and can't seem to figure out what they're for
    besides copy-paste.
I looked at dreamweavers help file about creating extensions,
but all it does is allow you to make a code block that can be
inserted at a click of a button.
Is there a way that you can make extensions that actually ADD
options to dreamweaver menus? Like when a user right clicks
somewhere, or something like that? Like if the user clicks anywhere
a link to go to google.com is on the menu or something, thats
    simple.
What I want is to build a window that is an extension. You
can find what I am attempting to accomplish at:

What can you do with extensions? Can you actually add onto
    dreamweavers product?

Dreamweaver creates a local copy of menus.xml that overrides
    the copy in

Yes, look up Floating Panels in the Extending Dreamweaver

Check the DW API reference in the help menu. Almost every API
    call is in
there. Additional functionality is in Configuration/Shared.
    Check the

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro.  If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook.  Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad.  Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.
