Confused: G5 access to more than 500 gigs?
I've read that using drives of 500 gigs or larger is no problem on a G5- but I'm still confused as to whether the Mac will access all that storage?
I just replaced my boot drive by a 250 disk and installed a 300 gig drive as my media disk. I would lose out a 'mere' 50 gigs if the G5 only accesses 500, but I'd like to know for future reference. (BTW, does the G5 take into account the fact that a 300 drive has only 280 available and the 250 around 230? That would reduce my possible loss to only 10 gigs!)

My MacBook Pro's 500G internal drive is nearly full. I want to upgrade to something larger (640G would be fine) but I would like to not step down to 7200 RPM. Does anyone have any recommendations. I have been looking around for one but can't find one.

While it's more than the 500GB Momentus XT if you really want the speed of an SSD and the capacity of a SATA drive it's a much more worthwhile investment to go this strategy. The drawback, however, is you lose your optical drive. It's just another option. -

I have integrated a field with a search help, that has more than 500 results. But in the search result popup only 500 results are shown. How can I provide access to the 500+ results to the enduser?

Error when inserting more than 500 characters

I am not sure if I should be posting here or in the Flex
Forum, so I apologize ahead of time if I am in the wrong place.
I am Using a Flex frontend and a ColdFusion backend to edit
data in a simple Access Database (for testing). I have a ColdFusion
CFC on the backend that handles everything just fine until I enter
in more than 500 characters (Actually 510) into my text area and
then I get the error "Unable to invoke CFC - Error Executing
Database Query.". Now you might be saying that either the database
field is not set to handle that many characters or the CFC is
restricting more than 500 characters, but they are not. The
database field is set to "memo" and the maxlength in the CFC is set
to 5000. I am wondering if has something to do with Access
databases I do not know because I don't use them that often.
I have tested this over and over and it only throws the error
if I exceed 510 characters in the Flex TextArea.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
The CFC code is below I didn't add the MXML because I figured
there was nothing special about the TextArea block:Very strange as to why this worked but just in case someone
else has the same problem here is how I got it to work.
I just changed this line:

The filter box only whittles down the intial 500 displayed results (appears to from my testing). I can view all 8000 of my groups (yes I tweaked the 1000 cap for LDAP queries on the ad server) and up to 8000 users in Directory Utility, even do individual searches for undisplayed users (actually have 50000 or so) and still get them back. It seems Directory Utilitity DOES form LDAP queries correctly and efficiently, whereas Server app does not. It seems Server app, at least against an AD server, tries to LDAP query for everything, and only filters down the max results it gets back. Am I wrong? If I were, I should be able to use the search box and still get the same 8000 groups I do in Directory Utility, which I don't. Know how to fix?
To clarify: This only happens when I need to give access permissions to "Services" in the Users or Groups section under Accounts. Intestingly, looking up the users and groups to set permissions for the actual Sharepoint, works just fine.
@Antonio While you're right it doesn't seem Server App can come anywhere close to Active Directory in terms of managing the entire infrastructure, I think you're wrong when you sort of insinuate that it shouldn't be able to work in tandem with it. Forming the LDAP queries to AD better seems like such a simple thing to fix - nobody is asking it do the same workload as AD. I work at an educational institution that is AD infrastructure on the whole, but I just happen to manage an Arts college that it's part of and I prefer the Server App + Deploy Studio + Remote Desktop to manage our 90% rate of macs, as opposed to using the SCCM and AD tools I easily could use. And I doubt I'm the only mac admin in a similar situation. This is something Apple could and SHOULD easily fix. -
I have more than 500 videos but of course imovie only imports the first 500. What can I do so I dont duplicate any of the 500 when trying to add the rest?

Ho do i create a maintenance view for fld more than 500 characters? i need a maintenance view to maintain URL which is sometimes more than 500 chars.
The way SAP solves this for webservices is via a hash.
Once you have executed the service, the URL populates a mapping table and generates a unique hash value for it.
Via this hash, you can assign it to authorization fields and use it in your coding where the fields have limitations.
As a consequence this causes some confusion if you dont use F4, but it does work.

I need to upload a pdf with more than 500 fields, but not all need to be registered.
We are working on a pdf to send to our customers. The form has more than 500 fields but we only need to register some of them, the other fields will be filled in the pdf, saved and sent bak to us. Is there any way to do that?

How can i add more than 500 jPanels in a jScrollPane

I am facing a problem related to adding jPanels in jScrollPane. My application needs more than 500 jpanels in the jscrollpane.where in each jPanel 4 jtextboxes, 1 comboboxes, 1 check box is there.when the check box will be clicked then the total row( ie row means the panel containing the 4 jtextboxes, 1 comboboxes, 1 check box ).and when the user will click on move up or move down button then the selected jpanel will move up or down.
The tool(sun java studio enterprise 8.1) is not allowing more Jpanels to add manually. so i have to add the jpanels by writing the code in to a loop. and the problem is that when i am trying to add the code in the code generated by the tool the code written out side the code by me is not integratable into the tool generated code.
If u watch the code here am sending u ll get what am facing the problem. The idea of creating jpanels through loop is ok but when trying to impleent in tool facing difficulties.
A example code am sending here. please tell me how i can add more panels to the scrollpane(it is the tool generated code)

I am thinking to create the classes separately for the components (i.e the jpanel, combobox,textbox etc)and call their instaces from the for loop .But the problem is the jpanel will contain the other components and that jpanels (unlimited jpanels will be added later)will be later added to the jscrollpane.
By writing code, the problem is to place components( the comboboxes,textboxes etc placed on the jpanel ) in appropriate coordinates . So i am doing it through tool .
I am sending here the sample code related to my actual need . In this i have taken a jScrollPane, on that i have added jPanel1 and on jPanel1 i have added jPanel2.On jPanel2 jTextField1, jComboBox1,jCheckBox are added. If the u ll see the code u can understand what problem i am facing.

cant sync iPod touch. comes up with "cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (21.6MB required, 304.8MB available)." I am so confused. I have more than enough space even on PC.
That message is telling you that you do not have enough stgorage on the iPod to accomodate all the media you are trying to sync to the iPod.

How to display TEXT more than 500 char in a report as multiple lines.
Hi Friends,
i have a requirement like i should display Texts of length more than 500 Characters in a report( ALV LIST) as multiple lines
I am fetching the data Using FM READ_TEXT
the output im currently geeting with 150 Char in lenth as a single line
How we can split the text into multiple lines in a report
first i would like to know is it possible? if possible please give your valuable suggitions if not is there any alternative way to do this task.

This is possible but the Solution might not look Standard/Appropriate to you.
In ALV, you can have Multiple Line Output...There is a Field in the Field Catalogue..called as Row_position...this is by default 0...which means Single row/Line ALV output....You can have this Value in the Range of 0 to 3.......A ALV field with row_position 1, will be displayed in the second line for every record...i.e. you will have multiple line for a single record of ALV.
In your case......you can use this but you need to split your field in two fields.....but you may end up spliting a single word....but for that also you can design the logic of splitting the Fiel value at SPACE only......

Another alternative is to return a "long" column instead. The 4000 is probably down to the varchar datatype restriction. -

The 2 points are compulsory for multiline display.
Could you please let me know the following things.
1. Is that field is wrapped by any position content subform.If this is the case, try making flow content.
2. Is there any field below the text field and the 2 fields are wrapped in position content, In this case also make the subform as flow content.
Refer the example form FP_TEST_01 in SFP transaction.Check the subform and field properties.
Make a backup before making changes.

I have a report with more than 500 rows and i donot know the total number of records returned from sql query before hand. Is there any way to dynamically set the MAX ROW COUNT in the report - layout and pagination.

The main problem for the scenario is that....Say you first create a SQL query based report with setting the row per page 15 .Now after the region is displayed if u go through the report attributes of the page and change the no. of row per page and apply changes the same will not going to reflect in the report display page.
For ur case just select the no. of page u want to show while creating SQL Query based report region say 1000 and after creating the region go to the report attributes -> Layout and Pagination -> Max Row Count : 9000 (say).
I have solved the problem after creating 700 rows and the all rows displayed in the page fine........If u have further issue plz revert back to me.
