Confusion on transfer

Ok Folks,
This is a doozy....
Built and edited a FCP 6.0.6 project on my G5 last month. Due to many distractions, fun and games (tongue in cheek) i was unable to get back to that machine until today.
Nothing opened when I went to Final Cut. Began to search in the finder for the correct sequence. Found what was close enough and opened it up. Happily saved it and rendered the file. SAVED ALL and shut it down moving the external hard drives back to the new MacPro 1,1.
Opened up FCP 7.07 and found nothing which I recognized. So ... I ahve just moved everything back to the G5 and cold not find the file at all....
In FCP 6.0.6 - 3 of the recent opens were but that last one was not showing up.
I then began to search any modified files... Found about 5 and tried to relocate the file by this method. Totally unsucessful so far; and I have spent a couple of hours trying to figure out what happened here...
Mac OS 10.4.11 --- for what that is worth.
Why did it not come back up in FCP when I opened that?

Do you have you ipod set to automatically update or manual update?
Do you have the latest version of iTunes 6.0.4 (3) ?
Do you have all your tunes stored in iTunes in your computer?
(If you have the ipod set to manual update you can just drag and drop and it won't erase other songs!)
I had an issue previously with songs not uploading because I didn't have the appropriate iTunes updated software.

You can change the email address you use as your apple ID. this doesn't mean you have to delete the old email address as email.
When you delete an email from your device, it is only removed from the device, it does not delete your emails or the email account.

Production Version naming convention

Hi all,
We are using PDS and it is being transferred from R/3.
The problem is in R/3, in many cases different materials are having the same production version numbers.
If we have the same production version number will it cause any problem / confusion while transfer to APO and in further planning process in APO ?
Current situation in R/3 :
Product A : Production Versions 0011,0012,0013....
Product B : Production Versions 0012,0013,Z014..... Is this ok ?
Or is it better to delete and create with unique production version number in R/3 before transferring ?

The PDS will get the combo structure of product-location-version no only.
So, there is no harm in having different products having same production version numbers.

Mail - syncing from my iBook to my iMac

I am looking to sync my Mail program from my iBook to my iMac. I have been doing it manually for the last few weeks, but I just realized that I have only been getting my incoming messages. I was looking to sync my sent messages too. I want to stop doing a manual sync and have it all automated. How can I do this? I want to sync my 2 accounts; Inbox, Sent Mail, Junk. Is there an easy way to do this?
p.s. I do not have a .Mac e-mail. My roommate tells me that having one would help. puh...

Yes, IMAP enables me to consult the mail messages I maintain on-line, wherever I may roam. But I often need to consult an unpredictable set of older messages that I don't want to clutter up my iDisk with. So, I'd like to maintain the same (sizable) database of "On My Mac" mail messages on my desktop (at home) and on my laptop (everywhere). Can anybody tell me whether the following violates some logical constraint I haven't yet understood?
On my desktop (Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5, running OS 10.5.1), the [user]>Library>Mail>Mailboxes folder contains a big (1.11 GB) folder named "Organize," which is the name I've given to the top-level folder(/mailbox?) within which all my off-line messages reside, appearing in the left-column menu in Mail's Message Viewer. Everything else in [user]>Library>Mail>Mailboxes shows in the finder as ".mbox," but the Organize folder seems to be just a folder, without one of those silly MS-DOS-style extensions we've had imposed on us, of late.
I propose to copy the "Organize" folder to the parallel location in my laptop (MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, also on OS 10.5.1) and then to keep the two folders in sync with my trusty Qdea Synchronize! X Plus Version 1.2.
Topher Kessler's reply suggests that this might work, but I've had a fair amount of grief when I've tried to mess around with the data structures in Mail under OS X. Am I asking for trouble? Is there anything in the content of a message file stored On My Mac that depends on the specific machine it was originally stored on? So that, for example it might become confused upon transfer to another machine...
The whole point, of course, is to be able to go back to old mail messages while on the road. I seem able to keep other kinds of archives with me, but Mail's been scary...

N96 - My list of problems found - up to now!

Wi-Fi is hit and miss.
I put the code in to connect but I get a message saying ‘connection cannot be made’. Other’s can log on easily, laptops, i-phones etc.
My ring tone is quiet.
In general settings I have the ring volume high but when my phone rings the ring is quiet.
Data transfer.
If, for example, I’m putting a tune on my phone I get a data transfer in progress massage on my phone. The problem is this message does not go away even if the transfer has taken place leaving me guessing if I have down-loaded successfully. I have to unplug the lead and hope for the best.
Data transfer 2. A lot of the time the Nokia PC Suite cannot ‘see’ my phone. Also I am confused which transfer system to use. There are 4 options, Suite, Mass, Media and another. Why not simply have 1 option?
Maps. I thought that this would be as quick as a tom-tom. It takes ages to get any GPS signal, if at all. I have installed UK maps but it isn’t very user friendly, i.e., no post code input option. I’m thinking that this feature may be useless.
TV. Why advertise the phone as having TV if this option is not installed on a UK phone!
Does anyone know if Nokia Tech guys read this forum?

Not much I can offer as advise. Check that the battery cover is correctly assembled. The battery cover contains the WiFi antenna.
My ring tone is quiet.
If you're using firmware 10.065 then upgrade to 11.018. If 11.018 is not yet available for you then DISABLE 3D ringtones. This may fix the problem.

Several comments. First use File Transfer and drag and drop the music files to the Mass memory. This is BY FAR the fastest way to transfer files. For music you can use also PC SUITE mode and use WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11 to SYNC the songs, but I think File transfer is even faster than this.
Once you're done STOP the device in the windows tray. The gray box icon with a green arrow that allows you to STOP the USB device that will ensure you don't delete any data.

PC SUITE: Use this to synch contacts, create backups. Also this enables MTP mode so you can use Windows Media Player to sync music and videos to the phone. I don't recommend using Nokia Video Manager or Nokia Music Manager for Videos and Music.
Mass Storage (FILE TRANSFER) this mode will mount the Mass memory and the Memory card as external Drives in Windows. Then you can use them like any drive in Windows, create folders, copy files, etc. This is the fastest mode to move data.
MEDIA- Is the same as PC SUITE but without the PC SUITE stuff so that only MTP mode is active.
Image TRANSFER: This is for PICTBRIDGE printers.

Ensure that you have turned on A-GPS. Go to Settings-> General -> Positioning -> Positioning Methods. Check that Assisted GPS is checked.
Don't understand what you mean for no post code input. If you select Options -> Search -> Addresses there's a field to input the postal code.

iPlayer is available in the UK to access BBC channels. Doing a bit of reseach/reading the restrictions would've shown that your operator had to support DVB-h to access real TV. So I don't know what else Nokia can do... In some markets (Germany, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, etc.) they do have DVB-h.

It's already available for the vanilla products, and specific operators or country codes will start showing gradually, you need to check the Software Update site often.
LASTLY. It's always a good idea to browse or read the user manual to understand how to use your device.

Time capsule backups and transfer confusion

I recently got my new MacBook Pro and I decided to try and transfer all my files from my old MacBook Pro's backup on my time capsule, however, instead of transfering all the info in the beginning, I waited to do it after creating a new account. All the files transfered but they did not transfer as expected. I thought that the backup would transfer my entire backup into my new account but it didn't do that. I now have two accounts, the new one and the old one, my old one works fine but now I have this new one with only some stuff. I want to merge the two so I can have one. I planned on going through to restore my MacBook as if it was first booting but now I have two backups and i cant access either of them to restore the MacBook with. I have no idea what to do.

Yes, that's why it's best, by far, to use Setup Assistant when the new Mac first starts up. (We've asked Apple to change the wording on that window many times, to no avail ).
In theory, you can delete the new account and just use the transferred one. But that account most likely won't have permission to the older backups.
Your best bet is probably to start over, using one of the workarounds (probably #4) in the green box of Problems after using Migration Assistant. The pink box there will explain the permissions issue.
Alternatively, you might be able to copy the new items to the transferred account, per Transferring files from one User Account to another, but that won't fix the permissions problem.

Data transfer limits -- Confusing info

When I click on the page on dot mac that tells me how much data transfer I have used, I see two numbers.
For instance, one line says:
You are currently using 260.1 MB of 5 GB bimonthly data transfer limit.
Then below, it lists the date I opened my dot mac account (two days ago), and says, "Amount used: 1.94 GB"
I can't figure out which number I should be keeping an eye on? I don't want to exceed my 5 GB bi-weekly limit.
Can anyone explain? Thanks, in advance.

The "data transfer" is how much bandwidth (from your limits) has been used for the bimonthly period.
The 260.1MB number is the one to watch. To increase your monthly bandwidth limit from the standard 10GB's you need to purchase additional storage space.
Doubling the default (1GB to 2GB) for about $50 a year moves your data transfer amount from 10 to 25GB's.

Hierarchical data transfer objects confusing Flex compiler...

I just posted this same query on FlexCoders... but then I
thought this might be a better target group to ask, so here goes:
We are working on a set of data transfer objects where we
have matching server-side java classes and client-side AS classes.
Some of these DTO contain lists of other DTOs. As an example:
A.java:
public class A {
List<B> blist
In A.as we have...
class A {
public var blist : ArrayCollection;
And we have B.java and B.as
Then we have a RemoteObject call to pull down a bunch of A
objects....
Here's the problem, Flex does not compile B.as at build-time.
So if B.as has a compiler problem, you never know about it,
except that the 'blist' in A never gets populated. If you break
down the data transfer and debug it. You find that during
RemoteObject call, the blist data comes "down the wire", but as an
ArrayCollection generic Objects, they never get turned into
instances of Bs...
I am guessing that this is happening because at compile time,
there is not direct reference to B in the clientside project. Our
covering .mxml wants one or more A objects, and inside A the blist
is an ArrayCollection. So the compiler doesn't see a reference to
B..
So anyone know how we can fairly seamlessly make sure B.as
gets compiled at build time so we'd know of compiler issues with it
rather than spending lots of time debugging mysterious null values?
(This appears to happen whether the project is set to compile
on the client-side or the server-side. We are using Flex and FDS
2.0.1 and Java 1.5)

Outbound Data Transfer pricing confusion

I have a customer who may want to move their website/SQL database to Azure, so I am doing some price analysis to make sure I am presenting the options correctly. As such, I need clarification on Outbound Data Transfer pricing. I have an MSDN Premium subscription
and I am using my monthly credits with that subscription to analyze how billing works.
I am comparing the pricing page (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/data-transfers/) to what I am actually seeing on my bill, and more specifically, in the billing
CSV that I downloaded to analyze. According to the pricing page, Inbound Data Transfers are FREE, which is what I am seeing in my bill. For Outbound Data Transfers, it shows that the first 5 GB of data transfers should also be free. However, when I download
my billing CSV, I see that I am getting charged for my outbound transfers even though the total so far this month is only 0.25GB (all Zone 1.) While I understand that the price for this is negligible, I want to make sure I am understanding the pricing pages
properly so that I can advise my client properly.
Why am I seeing charges for my Outbound Data Transfers when the first 5 GB/month are supposed to be free?

Ok so i am trying to transfer a 500mb file to my pen drive but it sticks on 99%
I have also tried the same file on my windows and it transfers correctly so im not sure what the problim is or how to even check.

Solved using sudo mount -o gid=users,fmask=113,dmask=002 /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usbstick

TS1363 How do I transfer my ITunes songs to my ipod? confused

I need help transfering my songs from ITUNES to IPOD. I don't see my device on my computer and everytime i tried to add a song to my device. I don't see it on my Ipod. What's going on am I doing something wrong?

Does the iPod show up in Windows, but not in iTunes, as in the linked support doc, or does it not show up at all? Have you tried a different cable, or one that you know works with another device? Have you tried connecting the device to a different computer?

Confusion on the whole iTunes to iPod transfer

Several issues: 1) after buying songs in iTunes, I can't figure out how to get them on to my iPod (video and shuffle) without deleting the songs already there. 2) I got the new songs on to my video iPod and then my library in iTunes don't show all my previous purchases?? 3) I find the website to not be user-friendly for steps to easily continue purchasing songs and adding them to my ipods?? Error message: "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs"

I recently purchased a Monster iCarPlay to play my ipod in my car. I have had no problems until recently. Upon disconnecting my ipod from the iCarPlay wire, I the following message popped up: "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided." It also prompts me to click the center button to dismiss the message. However, I'vd followed these instructions, and the message does not go away. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this problem? Or is it anything to worry about?

That is the message you see when you attach a 5th gen iPod to a computer using FIREWIRE. so... i suspect that for some reason, the 3rd party iCarPlay device must be confusing the iPod into thinking it is being docked or attached to a data line of some type and not simply charging.
As for the sudden occurrence of the message, it does seem strange however, keep in mind that you are using a 3rd party device that may not be supported or endorsed by Apple at all.
