Congratulation to the Logic-Pro Team, job well done!

If BlayZay say's Logic has past, then for sure it has past with flying colours and i'll no longer say Logic !!
as i have done in the pass because of how tedious things was in the previous version, and again in being a bit disappointed with the release of things broken in L.P. 8 at the first state of its release,
8.0.1. update Logic-Pro has made massive change, compare to just L.P. 8.
Right now I'm flying with my workflow and thanks Guys and girls wishing you all a happy holiday!
Best of all my Controller now works.
Fr.BlayZay.

The Zoom on the Logic Mackie Controller doesn't work but as far as just getting to use this controller its okay for now.
Logic-Pro is a big apps so they need to take as much time in getting it right therefore i won't rush the developers, but to thank them in the changes that they have made, and will be making.
They need to be credited, not just told when all is bad i believe in them and think Logic-Pro 8 is by far the best Logic i have seen or the best Daw on Planet-Earth,
even though Digi-Design has show how dangerous they are with Audio, in Streching and quick Automation, and for the price its a Dream come though, not to mention the way Symphony-Card integrates with Mac and Apogee.
Oh! i wish i could just plug my Delta-Card in Symphony like the Rosetta 800.
Logic-Team Well-Done!
Fr.BlayZay.

    • Do you use multiple computer displays?

    • How often do you use Logic Pro Help? Under what
circumstances do you use it most?
I use it often. not everyday, but there is always some little command or procedure that you can't remember
    • Do you use the printed manual or the onscreen help
more? Which one do you prefer?
I use them both, but the onscreen help a little more often. Some times I like to walk away from the computer and sit on the couch and read the manual, just to have a change of scenery
    • How do you find what you're looking for in Logic
Help: table of contents, index, skimming, PDF links,
    PDF search?
    Table of contents and search
    • What do you like about the Logic help?
It's right there on the computer, and being able to search by key words
    • What would you like to see us improve? What is
    missing?
I think real time animation would be real cool but I doubt that is practical
    • What needs more in-depths coverage in the Logic
    help?
Things that Logic has and you won't find in other programs, like explaining the environment in more detail. how to make better use of transformers. The Transform window could be explained more clearly.
    • In learning Logic, did you use the Logic Getting
Started Guide? If so, do you feel the book provided a
good introduction to the application? Is there
anything you can think of that would make the Getting
Started Guide more helpful to you? Did you use the
tutorial song that accompanies the Getting Started
    guide?
I didn't use it, although it looks great, I went right into the reference manual. I did look at the tutorial song, which was nice cause it gave me some hands on experience with moving things around
    • What are the most important concepts/features a new
user has to understand to get started with Logic?
Logic is different that other DAW's. Logic's way of doing things may seem real strange to someone who came from using another program. as I said before, spend more time on things that are only found in Logic, like the environment. It really frightens some people.
Many of the questions here in this forum are midi related. people seem to be having a real hard time making midi work in Logic. The manual could be more detailed in explaining midi communication and how the environment is the heart of all of this
    • By what method do you usually learn a new
    application? For example: provided manuals,
third-pary tutorials or books, training classes?
Provided manuals and a lot of trial and error. Also forums such as this are a great asset
    • Are there any particular examples of manuals or
online help that you consider to be good models for
the Logic Pro manual and onscreen help?
No, logic's manual is as good as most others.
    • What do you think is the most difficult
feature/concept to grasp in Logic Pro?
For me it was the transform window, it took me a while to get the hang of it. none of the other programs I worked in had anything quite like it.
    • What's the most frustrating experience you've had
    with the Logic Pro documentation?
there are a few errors, so it is frustrating when you are following the manual but not achieving your goal. For example, page 112 says:
There are two possible locations for user icons:
The ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons folder can contain icons which are only valid for the particular user (~ is the user name). If you save your icons in the root directory—/Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons—the icons are valid for all users. If icons with identical numbers exist in both folders, the icons found in the user folder have priority.
But this is not the case, they actually go in /Library/Application Support/Logic/images/Icons
there was a couple other mistakes like this too, but i can't remember right now
    • Are there any other methods of delivery or media
    you think we should explore?
If you wanted to get into doing video tutorial, that would be cool. there is a web site called atomic learning http://www.atomiclearning.com/ they have quicktime video tutorials for a ton of different software applications, some apple, and for a flat fee of 79.99 for a year you can spend as much time as you like learning all of the software applications. I may sign up to learn Web design, and maybe final cut pro. Apple could do something like that for all of the apple software and do it much better I would think, and you guys would make a fortune. well I guess not compared to the fortune you are already making
    • What size of computer display do you typically use
to view the onscreen help? For example: 12, 15, 17,
    20, 23, or 30-inch?
    20 in cinema display
    • What resolution is the computer display set to when
    viewing Onscreen Help? For example: 1024 x 768, 1280
    x 854, or 1920 x 1200 pixels?
    1344 X 840
    • Do you use multiple computer displays?
    no, just the one

  • Where can I find a full list of the Logic Pro X Software Instruments?

Where can I find a full list of the Logic Pro X Software Instruments (the ones you can play with a MIDI keyboard)?  From what I've read so far, there are a number of new software instruments in the LPX additional content (as well as loops, etc, but I'm looking for the software instruments).  I cannot seem to find this information in the product pages or documentation, though.
With older versions, I was able to find a list of all of the software instruments that came with the software, and all of the software instruments that came with the Jam Packs.  Is that list available from Apple, or does anyone have one from somewhere else?

    Hi Guys,
I exported my folders from a clean LPX install, does this give you what you want?
First one is the Patch instruments:

This one is the sampler Instruments:

  • Where do you find the serial no. of the logic pro product when it is bought in the app store

where do you find the serial number of the logic pro 9 product when you download it from the app store.  It is needed to start up the product the first time.

Well there really isn't any serial number, or at least my copy from the app store doesn't have one. It is tied to your iTunes/app store account. In the app store, look at the help menu....
    Update applications
App Store keeps track of updates for the applications you purchased. The Updates button in the toolbar shows the total number of application updates available for downloading.
The number of updates is also displayed on the App Store icon in the Dock.
    Manage application updates
    Click Updates in the toolbar.
For updates in the list, you can:
Download and install all of the updates at once, or download and install a specific update. All of the updates listed on the Updates page are free.
Pause, resume, or cancel a download.

  • Just read the Logic Pro forum.  People there think it stinks!

    I for one do too.
you took a tool that worked and did the typical apple "buy now, works later" approach. seriously. could you please not waste my time with beta testing unless you pay me!

    Hi Folks,
I paid the money a while back to buy Logic Pro X from the App Store and never installed it because the App Store wouldn't let me. I currently have a working install of Logic Pro 9 on my Mac. When I try to download the new version, the button in the App Store is ghosted out, and it says that Logic Pro Xhas already been installed.
I'm assuming that this has to do with existing folder names. I had a similar problem with Final Cut Pro 7 (which I had to keep in top shape to continue work with editors on our legacy FCP7 video projects) when I moved to FCPX. It was a fairly simple process to group FCP 7, as well as the other FCP Studio 3 programs, and put them into a directory called Final Cut Studio 3. The big caveat was to NEVER update any of the Studio 3 programs again, because updated FCP 7 library items would end up the the FCPX libraries.
My question is this: has anyone had success by renaming the Logic Pro 9 application folder (which is currently named Logic Pro) as Logic Pro 9 and proceeding with the Logic Pro X install (which I assume will create a folder called Logic Pro?) Additionally, I am looking for advice about whether I need to do anything with the existing Logic Pro 9 libraries.
    Thank you,
    KimK

  • How to update the BOX version of the Logic Pro 9 in Mountain Lion??

    Hi!
How to update the BOX version of the Logic Pro 9 in Mountain Lion?
For example,  if tomorrow will be new updates for Logic Pro for exapmle 9.1.8. (now I have 9.1.7) Will I not able to get it?? Now should I buy the second Logic pro??
Recently I have got answer from App Store support:
"Max, since you have not purchased the app in the App Store, you can't get updates directly in App Store. In this case, you will need to purchase the updated version in the App Store so you can get further updates."
It's... I bought Logic Pro 9 + MainStage +  + +++ .... in the Apple Retail Store and what now?? Updates works perfect in Snow Leopard.
    I can't understand...
Can you help me please? =)

    Max,
Rest assurred, you will get updates via the App store. What will happen is when you install the box version, the Mac App Store will ping when there is an update to download(for free), much like any other Apple app(Garageband, iWork, etc) regardless of where you bought it from. If it's installed, it will check for updates.
If the Mac App store doesn't show an update that you know is out, simply down it directly from support.apple.com and apply it.
Hope this helps. If so, LIKE the post.

Is music created in logic pro compatible with the logic pro x ? for instance if you have created something in logic pro and want to add or tweak it, is that possible? I suppose you would need the original logic folder?

Yes it is more or less compatible, except the use of 32 bit plugins, which is prohibited from now on. So although you're able to open Logic projects as far as down to v5 I believe, it is advisable to remain for 'adding and tweaking' in your pre LPX environment.
    Have a nice day!

Only with a whole lot of effort and instability.  As the new Minis have
hardware (HD4000, USB 3.0, etc.) that is totally unsupported in old OSes.
The only option would be to see if it would work by installing in a virtual machine
running 10.6.8.  I'm sure there will be some performance hit but whether it would
be enough to be unusable is the question.

  • Want to upgrade Logic experss 8 to the Logic pro 9

    Hi all,
I want to upgrade Logic experss 8 to the Logic pro 9. Please guide me which products i have to get it looks like quite confusing now.
All i find over web is Logic pro 9 is available for 199 and no upgrade options on any other site like musicians friend and sweetwater.
    Thanks,
    ZB

As far as I can see that is your option . The upgrade when it existed was 199.99 so I guess there is that .
I'm more curious on going forward how or if they are going to do upgrade pricing for Logic Pro ?
There is as far as I know no precedence for upgrade pricing in the app store , but I could maybe see them realize an otherwise useless update before V10 that had buying the upgrade as an in app purchase ?
It would be very nice if Apple would get with the times and Let it's users know what is going on ...to my knowledge they have still have not made even an official announcement of Express being discontinued even …which is shady .

In the Score Editor's Inspector, where do I find the "insert pop-up menu" referred to in the Logic Pro X online Help manual? All I see are Time and Scale Quantize and Velocity. Is the online Help out-of-date?

  • Can anyone download the Logic Pro x manual?

Is anyone able to download the Logic Pro X manual from apple's site? I keep trying on my ipad but it crashes it every time, same with iPhone? Surely it can't be just on the mac, I want a stand alone manual I can refer to separately when recording, or even to read up on when I'm away from my studio. The other 2 smaller ones downloaded no problem. Any help is appreciated, thank you

    Hi
Yep.... just crashed Safari on my iPad Air (iOS 7.0.4).
    A second attempt worked OK
You could always add it from your Mac via iBooks or a PDF reader app and iTunes?
