Congratulations!

I'd like to take the chance to congratulate the JDeveloper team for the release of 10.1.3 gold! Nicely done, and I look forward to working with the latest release. I'm sure Sarbens-Oxley will be relieved as well ;)

  • Congratulations Apple Customer Service!

So, like a good little Steve Jobs acolyte, I sat around patiently waiting for the latest iPod Updater, vainly hoping that Apple would take the opportunity to fix a HIGHLY annoying bug that is exclusive to the iPod 5G software.
Alas, I should have known better. While renowned for its ability to make beautiful, easy to use, dare i say life changing computers and computer peripherals, Apple is also infamous for its SUCKY customer service.
I'm not talking about a wish list for touch screens, iPod phones, etc. I mean a bona fide problem with the software.
In a nutshell, this weird glitch is as follows: if you have an artist with two songs, only one of which has album info in the tags, then when trying to browse your music by "Artist", ONLY THE SONG WITH ALBUM INFO SHOWS UP. The other song is there - you can get to it by browsing by "Songs". Not a big deal if you have only a 100 songs, but when you have thousands, with many that are single tracks with no album info, this presents a problem. A HUGELY annoying problem. I know from testing that the nano, mini and prior versions of the iPod do not have this problem. Only the 5G. Oh, careful internet searching reveals that others have this problem too, so it's not just my unit.
Emails (note plural) to Apple customer service have gone unanswered. And whoever coined the term "Genius Bar" has a truly demented sense of humor.
Again, congratulations to Apple for living up to their standards of mediocrity for customer care. You should be proud!!

While I appreciate the spirit of this post, especially as my original post was admittedly snarky, I must point out...
High customer satisfaction DOES NOT EQUAL good/great customer service.
Customers should be satisfied with the iPod right out of the box - it's a great product. And Apple surely deserves the brand recognition - it has created something with deep cultural resonance. These are the items pointed out in your news release.
But who are we kidding? How many customers had iPods that were expensive paperweights once their batteries died. Apple initially refused to replace these batteries, much to the chagrin of those users (I applaud Apple's decision to reverse course on this). There are other instances of poor customer SERVICE that I won't bother to point out.

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, AdwareMedic, or Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked!

I decided to update my AT&T iPhone 4S 32GB last night to iOS 6.1.1.  I was going to do a normal update and restore process, backed up my phone, ran the update and half way through it glitched and I had to do a factory restore.  I figured I could do a manual restore from the backup I had just done so I wasn't too worried about it.
When the update / restore finished I got a screen that I haven't seen before, it Said, Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked!  To set up and sync this iPhone, click continue.  The lock screen on my phone was in fact the factory fresh unlock screen so I set it up and then did a restore from the backup I had just done.  Everything was restored except for my music, what a pain that is.
My question is, did my phone actually get unlocked?  And is there a way to tell other than putting in another carrier's sim card?  I bought the phone on contract and I still have about 6 months to go before the contract expires.

    Hello,
First of all, nice to meet you here. Im sorry im just new, so must be iTunes or updating software glitches so this is all impossible. All carriers would not let phone to be unlocked when they are approaching end contract date. So try to contact AT&T and just ask them and describe what problem you have like you mention above and not hurt to ask them. Try that!

  • After downloading and installing the 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows I get a "Congratulations, you've successfully installed iTunes" message. However, when I plug in my iPhone to synch it I get a message that says that I don't the 64-bit version??

After downloading the 64-bit version of iTunes on my Windows 7 machine I get the "Congratulations, you've successfully installed iTunes" message.  However, when I plug in my iPhone I get an error message that says, in part, "...the required software is not installed.  Run the installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes".  I've been at this for hours, carefully deleting all Apple software (Apple Mobile Support, Quicktime, etc. and before each attempt to install the 64-bit version from Apple ( no third parties).  Same result each time!!!  Any ideas????

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • ITunes fail to install even though it says "Congratulations, iTunes has downloaded".

Basically, I fired up my iTunes and it says I needed to update it to 11.1.4, and I did that when suddenly it couldn't be updated stating that there is a problem with the Apple Mobile Device Support thingy. I tried to Google several solutions for that but decided to uninstall iTunes.
When I've downloaded the new .exe file and follow through all the steps to re-install it, it says "Congratulations, iTunes has downloaded" at the end of the process but when I search on my desktop or on the menu, iTunes does not appear, which means it is not installed.
I've tried this probably about 5 times.
I've Googled solutions to this and these came up:
    1. https://discussions.apple.com/message/19918962#19918962
    2. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5720701?tstart=0
In those discussions, the solutions were to either download it with a different browser or download it from a different website. I tried both and it result in the same. I have also tried restarting my computer.
    I'm running on a 32-bit Vista.
PLEASE HELP ASAP! Because now I do not have any iTunes and I can't sync in my iPhone!

    Valiant1:
I had same problem. I have Just sorted it by the following :- 1) uninstalling Itunes
    2) uninstalling all Apple software (Safari, mobile, Quicktime) EXECPT ICloud and Apple Software Updater
    3) Then run Software updater and reinstalled Quicktime and Itunes (Apple Software Updater should be separate from Itunes & Quicktime 11.1.4 now sucessfully installed.
My best guess is that there's an issue with the new Itunes update and Quicktime !! Hope this helps  (I'm running on 64bit Vista)
    Valiant1, you're my hero!
    Thank you! That worked perfectly!
    *Internet hug*
PS: I accidentally rated you as "This helped me" instead of "This solved my question". Apologies!

  • No congratulation page

I've just installed j2sdkee1.2.1 and jdk1.3.1_01 on my Win2k ws
I've added the environment variables in the System Properties panel
    J2EE_HOME = C:\Progra~1\j2sdkee1.2.1
    JAVA_HOME = C:\Progra~1\jdk1.3.1_01
and put C:\Progra~1\jdk1.3.1_01\bin into the path
I start the j2ee.bat -verbose with no errors, but when I try to access the welcome page
    http://localhost:8000/index.html
I get HTTP 404 - File not found
There are no errors in the error.log, and nothing suspicious in the access.log
What am I doing wrong here?

I am running on win2000 professinal and I am using JSDKSE1.4.1_01 and JSDKEE1.3.1. I could also startup the cloudscape & J2ee -verbose successfully. However I still could not access the congratulation Index.html page.

  • Congratulations Adobe on GPU identification in 8.1.0.81

Guess what is new in Premiere CC 2014 8.1 release?
No more "cuda_supported_cards.txt" or "opencl_supported_cards.txt" files!
Both this laptop and my main editing computer with so called "unsupported" GPU's (GTX 765M and GTX970) are working fine and even opening an older CS6 project I did not get the "unsupported" message.  I believe it did come up initially and I just breezed by it but now opening a third older CS6 project that had a much older GPU when it was last opened did not give me the message.  Evidently, once Premiere 8.1.0.81 learns that it is a hardware accelerated usable GPU never asks you again.  I further tried installing a second GPU a GTX 770 Sc along with the GTX 970 Sc and Premiere saw it immediately.
Congratulations again to Adobe on this great improvement for Premiere.

    Welcome to the forums.
I did not imply that there was any problem with the GTX 770 and the GTX 970.  I actually run these both in CS6 (one at a time) very successfully.  In earlier CC you got problems with notices that these cards were "uncertified" and one way of getting them to work was to edit the appropriate files.  Now in Premiere Pro 8.1.0.81 those two files do not exist and recognition of a card that supports hardware accelerated MPE effects and features is automatic.
Maybe someone can comment on After Effects in the new version if this is also automatic.

  • Hi! I have had my macbookpro for less than two weeks today. About an hour ago I opened up Safari only to have a pop up that says "Congratulations you are at winner.." etc.  I have tried force quitting and restarting my computer but to no avail. Help!

    Hello!
I have had my Macbook Pro for less than 2 weeks.  About an hour ago I turned it on and clicked on Safari.  A pop up appeared...the usual "Congratulations! You are the Winner of.." etc etc.  I have not downloaded anything from an unreliable source.  I have quite honestly turned on the computer less than 10 times since getting it.  The pop up prevents me from browsing the internet.
Please help! I did not think I would run into problems with the laptop so soon.
    Thank you.
    J.

The Lion OS has a new feature that returns you to a "previous state" the next time an application is opened.
You can stop this behavior by holding down the option key when quiting an app or hold down the shift key when you launch an app.

  • Oracle ACE - Congratulation to Scott Spadafore

    Scott,
Congratulation on your new title – Oracle ACE.
I understand that this title is rewarded by some kind of a nomination committee, which means it's not enough just to have all this professional knowledge, but you need to gain your colleagues appreciation and respect.
As a novice user in the Oracle world, I received a lot of priceless help from you (and the others on the HTML DB team) through this forum, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. So this is a good opportunity to say thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Arie.

Scott is definitely in good company, and deservedly so.
