I have a Westell 327W wireless router/modem which is connected to the internet. I also have a Westell 7500 wireless router/modem. How do I connect them both without plugging in the dsl jack on the Westell 7500 router/modem? Please help!!! (I don't want to plug in the dsl jack on the Westell 7500!!!) Thanks.

Why would you want to?...Just use one or the other...they both do basically the same thing.... or do you need more ethernet ports?

1. Because it is either the same IP as the new one or hidden by being plugged in as a second router.
To access it, isolate one computer from the existing network and plug it directly by ethernet to a lan port of the TC. Use the erase function in the TC to remove all the content of the hard disk.
Then go to the internet tab, connection sharing and select off bridged. You can then reconnect the TC to the network.. and the computer as well. The TC will act as bridged device.. getting IP from the main router and should then appear correctly in Airport utility.
2. I covered in 1. But you just go in airport utility manual setup. disk, and you will see the erase function. You can also set it to bridge and leave the erase until you put it back in the network.. but be careful you erase the right one.
3. You can use the old TC via wired or wireless.. although I would always stick to wired connection if possible. Speed on wireless is 10x worse than wired.
Also note the reliability goes down dramatically after 2 years.. a series 1 3 years old or more is ebay fodder unless you want to repair it. Do not trust vital data to it.. when it dies you will have issues recovering it.
4. Yes, all apple routers will function as wireless extenders. when you do that the ethernet ports turn off so it becomes a purely wireless device.. strange apple decision on what you want to use your TC for.

Can u run Airport Express and a wireless modem together at the same time?
I'm using AE purely for music distribution and have just bought a wireless modem for the internet (not a AE). However I can now only select either the AE network, OR the wireless internet network (it's BT HomeHub). Hence I can either play music or use the internet, but not together!
Any ideas anyone..??

You should configure your AirPort Express (AX) to join the wireless network provided by the modem. The instructions are in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

Cannot connect to modem's web-based-configuration program

Hello,
I'm trying to connect to my modem's (D-Link DSL-321B) web-based-configuration program by giving its ip-address (192.168.1.1) in a Safari widow. I get the error message "Safari can't open page 192.168.1.1 because the server where the page is located isn't responding".
The modem is connected via ethernet cable to an airport time capsule. The mac is then connect via WiLan. I have tried other web browser programs, rebooted everything, reset the modem, connected the modem to my macbook via ethernet cable and read ALOT of information but I still can't find the solution and get into the menu. BTW, all Mac software is up to date.
I would be really grateful for some help. Thanks in advance.

No option to connect by modem

Hi,
I am trying to get my wife's eMac to connect by modem. It is a G4, 768MB RAM,1Ghz,running system 10.3.9. I have an external USB modem that works under System 9.2.2 with the same computer.
The problem is, in System 10, there is no option in the Network tab to connect by dialup modem. Just options for ethernet.

I see. Did it come with any driver that you need to install, as it works under OS 9 but not 10, that would be the next thing to look for. Check the modem's website for drivers and see if there is one available for OS X 10.3.9.

Advice about FXS Port configuration for connecting to modems

Hello all,
We have not confirm the problem, but we are having reports that analog devices like USR V.92 Modems and Power meters are not connecting or dropping the connection. We have an ISR 2911 with the 4-port FXS-DID WIC (VIC3-4FXS/DID), configure to an internet SIP truck provider. The Router is running IOS 15.3(3)M2. If we connect an analog phone to the FXS port and call, voice is clear. So the question is what configuration settings should we have for FXS ports and/or dialpeers for connections to modems? Attached is the current configuration of the router.
Do we have to be worried about Codec? If so which Codec should we configure?
Any Physical FXS settings should be set?
Are my DSP setup correctly?
Again, I'm at a loss, as voice sounds good and my searches for modem connections to FXS Ports on CUCME is coming up dry. Any help would be great.
As far as the "Power Meters", we are talking substation power meters.

You're losing me a bit. Because I don't know if your giving me dial-peer 1 as an example. 1 being just a random number. Or your telling me to change my current dial-peer 1 configuration. Which is currently a pots dial-peer:

No such program exists that I've seen, and given the proprietary nature of each service, particularly iCloud, I very much doubt such a program would be possible.

Can't connect with modem through e2500 router

I have an old Speedstream 5100 modem hooked to my e2500 router. Everything works well except if for some reason my modem disconnects from ISP I can not log into it through the route to reconnect it. I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.
Any ideas why connecting to modem through router is blocked?

You cannot access the modem anymore while you have an active PPPoE connection. For PPPoE the E2500 won't need an IP address from the modem thus it doesn't do DHCP on the WAN port and thus it never sees it. When you try to access 192.168.0.* addresses the E2500 will route it through the PPP tunnel to the ISP.
If you hook your computer directly to the SpeedStream it should automatically pick up a DHCP address (assuming the computer is still running on DHCP and not with a static IP and the SpeedStream does not automatically disable the DHCP server in bridge mode). If you have set up a static IP on the computer you have to change the IP address to a 192.168.0.* address.

Hi, Ralink RT3290 Wifi adapter driver is loaded on my HP 250 G3. I can connect modem and internet. I can download and upload data from internet properly. However, if I put my PC on sleep, after waking up, PC cannot connect to modem. At every turn, to solve this problem, I turn off and turn on wireles adapter. Then, PC can connect modem and work properly. How can I solve this problem. Is there any problem on my wifi driver or something else? Please help me.

I've had that on my Late 2007 MBP since Day One but the delay is usually only seconds--no more that three on a bad day.
I think its to do with waking from sleep. The standard sleep mode in the MBP is :Safe Sleep" where the computer writes the contents of RAM to the hard drove before sleeping as a safety net against the battery running dry while the computer sleeps. If the computer has to read this spot of info before completely awaking.

That could be the result of now having more to write before sleep than when the computer was new because it's been in use a while and had other software added. For a test, see if the delay is reduced if you quit all open apps before sleep.
Having DashBoard active could also be a contibutor becasue many widgets have to "phone phone" for updates and could be preempting the connection opening for regular use. I use this widget:

to shut down Dashboard without having to restart the computer. It's a carry-over from the old days of slower computers and expensive RAM but i find it still useful. This does not harm Dashboard or make if unavailable later. It 's basically the "off switch" that DashBoard should have been granted.
If, after quitting active programs and Dashboard, the delay is still more than a few seconds, then something else is at play. As the computer is new and under warranty, I would let an Apple Store look at it.

Connecting a modem on FXS;ISDN PRI

I have 2801 with a PRI connection to PSTN and 3 4port FXS/DID cards. I have connected several modems on FXS ports ( I believe you can connect a modem to a FXS port) but when users dial in through ISDN to these modems the connection is quite bad (to many errors and it is very slow). Does anybody know a way to solve this? Is there some special configuration that has to be done on the router when you are connecting a modem on a FXS?

Airport Time Capsule 3TB can't connect to modem via ethernet

Thanks in advance for any assistance on this issue ...
I am having extreme difficulty in connecting my Airport TC to my modem via ethernet. Ideally, I want to use it to extend the range of my wifi, as well as back up my machines.
I can't get the AP TC to add on to an existing network in initial set up as , even though the option is available, the Airport Utility (6.3.2) doesn't seem to keep it selected, and wants to create a new network.
When I create the new network, my internet connection drops out, even though the modem indicates that it is connected. I then edit the internet connection in AU by telling it to extend the existing network (add in the SSID etc) which picks up the internet connection again, but then the Airport TC drops out, and all I get is a blinking amber light and a message saying no configured Airport Base Stations detected, continuing to search.
I have no doubt that it is something I am or am not doing. I have soft, hard and Factory reset the TC, reset the modem, changed cables, pretty much everything my tiny brain can think of.
I have looked through the support pages and follwed thier advice, with no luck.
Help please.

"Add" would be used for a wireless connection....and you indicate that you are using Ethernet to connect the existing modem/router and Time Capsule together....so the correct setup would be to create a new network using the exact same wireless network name and password as your existing network.
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on the current modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.
Here, I am assuming that the TC will be located at least a room or two away from your main wireless router. If it is located any closer, there will likely be wireless interference issues between the two routers. The wired connection between the modem/router and Time Capsule must be maintained.
AirPort Utility will suggest a setup that looks somewhat like this.....except you will see a Time Capsule instead of an AirPort Express as illustrated below:
Network Name would be the name of your existing wireless networik
Base Station Name is a device name that you want to call your Time Capsule
Password is the wireless password of your existing wireless network
Verify confirms that password
Click Next and the setup utility will auto configure things for you in a minute or two
When you see the message indicating Setup Complete, click Done and you should have a green light on the TC.

Thanks so much; you just helped me fit together the last few pieces of this puzzle. I did a little more digging and found a [url http://support.webecs.com/KB/a375/how-do-i-configure-sql-server-express-to-allow-remote.aspx]knowledge base article that explains how to set a static TCP port. According to the article, SQL Server 2005 selects a random dynamic port on installation, and my experience bears out the fact that it does survive server reboots.

Connect WAG54G2 (Modem Router) to WRT160NL (Router)

I want to lose all the wires from my home network. I bought a WRT160NL (Router), placed it downstairs and my WAG54G2 (Modem Router) is upstairs. I could not connect them wirelessly. Can someone help me on what to configure so I won't be using any wires for my home network. BTW, I think this new router has a repeater function, can I just make the WRT160NL as the access point and the WAG54G2 as the modem? Thanks a lot to those who will assist.

Your new router and WAG54G2 they both cannot work together wirelessly as WRT160NL doesn't support repeater mode. However, if you want to configure both the devices together you need to connect the Ethernet cable from the WAG54G2 to your new router in port number one.
