Connect 2 Router wireless

I have 2  WRT54G router, router#1 in the kitchen with modem and internet work perfectly. router#2 is in my home office without moden and no internet.
how can i connect this 2 router wireless?

Not at all. The WRT is a wireless router not an access point. The WRT does not support wireless bridging with Linksys firmware.
Option 1: Get a 3rd party firmware which allows wireless bridging on a WRT.
Option 2: Get an access point like the Linksys WAPs which are capable of wireless bridging.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless: HP printer unable to connect to wireless router.

Installing new printer,  getting error msg saying HP printer unable to connect to wireless router.   MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router which can prevent HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup.
SOLUTION says:  If MAC address filtering is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the MAC addressof your printer to the list of permitted devices for your wireless router before continuing.
My router is WD My Net N900 Router. MAC filtering is diabled. My security mode is WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I have run out of ideas to try and fix the issues, would appreciate some help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jamshidk
I am surprised you are getting that message and you checked the router settings and it is showing that the Mac Filtering is disabled.
I would suggest connecting the printer to the router with a ethernet cable to get a valid IP address and then setup the wireless.
    Print a configuration report.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01554589&lc=en&product=3760410&tmp...
Type the IP address from the configuration page  in the address bar into internet explorer browser. This will open the embedded web server for the printer. Click on the Networking tab, on the left hand side select wireless. After this is setup and applied, disconnect the ethernet cable.
Should be on the wireless network. Takes about 1 minute.
    Run the add printer wizard.
Go to start, devices and printers and select add a printer. (Win 7)
    Test the printer.

  • Cannot connect IBM Thinkpad to Linksys Router Wirelessly

I recently moved in with a friend, and my IBM Thinkpad T42, with Windows XP, cannot connect to her Linksys WRT120N router wirelessly. I am able to connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable, and I am able to connect to other public wireless networks.
I have been told by Cisco helpdesk people that it is because Windows XP does not support WPA2 security, and/or that because they don't know much about IBM computers, I should get rid of the third party internet connection software, IBM Access Connections, that came with my computer.
I have been having this problem for a week, and I did not even know I had IBM Access Connections until today, so I don't think that's the problem. Also, my friend has been using that application successfully on her computer, Thinkpad T61, Windows XP, to connect to this router, which she has been using for 2 years. So with two almost identical computers, does anybody know why my wireless connection isn't working?

Answer these questions, I may be able to give you the right solution to your issue:
    1. Go to your Network Connections folder on your wired computer and check which one is connected:
    a. Local Area Connection
    b. Broadband Connection
    c. 1394 Connection
    2. What is the IP address of your computer?
    3. Who is your internet service provider?
    4. What is the error message when you connect the wireless computer to the network?

  • IPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet.

iPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet at work. The admin says the router lets my iPhone connect to LAN, but the iPhone does not have server IP to access the internet. I entered the server IP and port number in the HTTP PROXY fields but I still can not access the web. Any ideas?
    TIA
    Rich

You IT person should be able to sort this out.  But, they seems to be too busy or disinterested to do this.  Suggest you provide the it person with an iPhone to get interested.
Any could be lots of things.
The best you can do is to get access to the admin setup for networking on a pc?  The internet settings are all the same.  Only what names the manufactures change from OS to OS. Check and compare parameters.
Phone works to internet at home, I assume?

  • Can connect to wireless router but not to the internet

Please Help, I have a WRT150N and I can connect to my wireless router by it will not connect to the internet from there, even though the internet, wireless, and security lights are lit up. If I plug a cord into the back of the router and then into my computer, I can connect to the internet, but once I disconnect the cable, I can still find and connect to my wireless router, but it will not connect to the internet from here. Under access it says "Local Only", I have the security type set to "Shared" under the security properties, and set to "WEP" with WEP key #1 entered. I have spent about 4 hours working on this problem now and could really use some help. Thanks.

Type ipconfig /all in command prompt(cmd.exe) to see whether it displays valid and correct IP, netmask, gateway and DNS info. If not, take a look on these cannot connect to wireless network problem and using ping to troubleshoot network problem articles to get more ideas. Hope it helps..

Can someone walk me through the steps of assigning the static IP to the "wireless network connection" referred to in the last post? I would assume you would right click on My Network Places, then right click on the "wireless network connection", but give me the steps after that. I don't want to screw anything up. Also, is it necessary to turn the router off, or can I just temporarily disable the connection on my laptop?

    That is not correct sabretooth04,
The Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625 only support USB or Wi-Fi, it does not provide any Ethernet connectivity and therefore a Wireless router is essential for the web services to work.
The specifications can be found in here:

ichleiben57 - As your printer only support wireless connection you will either need a wireless router, bridging your wired ADSL router with a wireless access point or replacing the printer to a different model which support wired ethernet connection.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Connect to WRT400N Router Wirelessly from Another Switch/Router?

My cable line, modem, and WRT400N router is in the basement and wired via cat5 to several other rooms in the house. The signal strength is great everywhere. Unfortunately, wiring was not run to the room where I need to connect (2) desktop PC's to the Internet. Can I use another router or switch to connect to the WRT400N router wirelessly so that those PC's will have Internet access via that device connection, or will I need to put wireless adapters in each machine that talk to the router in the basement directly?

Two linksys router will not communicate wirelessly...You can connect the switch/router hardwired to the router.

  • I can connect hardwired but my wireless laptop will not recognize my router wirelessly

I have the WRT54G and for a while my laptop was working with my router wirelessly.  We then hooked 4 other computers into it.  At that point my laptop could connect to my router wirelessly but i could not get on the internet.  So i went to the website 192.168.1.1 and tryed to change the security settings.  I reset the security settings and now I cannot get on that website anymore.  My laptop doesn't see the wireless signal from the router but it does work hardwired.  anyone have any ideas what i messed up??? oh and by the way i have vista

did you change the router settings from your wireless laptop ?? its always recommended to change the router settings from the wired computer ...
    also , on the router web interface , try changing the wireless channel - either 1 or 11 , beacon interval - 50 , Fragmentation threshold - 2306 , RTS threshold - 2307

  • Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme but error says Ethernet unplugged.

Trying to connect Verizon wireless router to Airport Extreme and error says Ethernet Unplugged.

So, AirPort Utility running on the Windows Vista desktop can "see" the AirPort Extreme and displays its icon, but gives that error message at some point in the setup process? How far does it get?
Other questions that may help me (or somebody else) understand your problem better:
Which of the pieces were verified as working before the introduction of the AirPort Extreme?
Did you have the desktop computer attached to the Verizon GT704WGB with one of the Ethernet cables you are now trying to use? Which one? Have you tried the other one to be sure it also works?
Are you using the same port on the GT704WGB? Have you tried another one?
If the desktop has multiple ethernet ports, are you using the same one?
Had you done any special configuration of the ethernet port on the Verizon GT704WGB to get it to work with your desktop?
What category ethernet cable are you using? 3? 5? 5e? 6?

  • Issues with connecting iMac wirelessly to a Netgear router

The iMac in question being a 2.66GHz model bought in August 2009 running OSX 10.6.6, and the Netgear Router being a DG834GT. The iMac is being exceptionally temperamental when it comes to connecting to the wireless network. Strangely enough there are times when it will connect fine, but most of the time it will either connect for a minute or so and then drop, or just not connect. When the latter happens it seems like it is giving a different error message every time, sometimes saying that a preferred network isn't available, sometimes saying that the password is wrong (when it isn't), sometimes that the ISP has failed (ISP is Orange) and so on. Even when it says it is connected Safari then seems to think it isn't.
We also have a MacBook Pro, an Xbox 360 and two Windows based laptops that have all never had a problem connecting to this router wirelessly. Yet the iMac, the most recent piece of technology by far, just can't seem to stomach it.
Is there something that can be fundamentally changed with the wireless settings that will fix this? Or, in fact, anything that will fix this?

Unfortunately we are already using WPA (which my MacBook Pro has no problems with), so nothing to change there.
Interestingly we have just called up Apple to see if they have any ideas for a quick fix, and they suggested wiring it up, which should somehow fix the wireless aspect of it as well. So after carefully moving the iMac and stringing some wires into fairly dangerous positions, it is now wired up. However, upon disconnecting the wire it worked for all of thirty seconds wirelessly before cutting out again. However, I do recall in my mind something about connecting a Mac via a wire first and then fiddling with something to help it work wirelessly? I don't know what that is though, so suggestions are appreciated.
In the very short term connecting it via a wire works, but really a solution needs to be found asap. If the wireless issue can't be sorted I expect I will have to invest in a very long ethernet cable and run it from the router to the iMac, which whilst obviously not ideal is certainly possible.

  • Trying to connect my wireless g router

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my wireless g router (WRT54G) to my cisco router from my company. My cisco router was configured by my company so that I can use the office phone. I need wireless access in my house (I work from home), and so I am trying to connect the WRT54G to the cisco router.
I followed the instructions on the setup CD, and it got to the point where it checks the configuration, and then it crashes, and wants to send an error report to microsoft (which I don't understand, but is another question for another time!)
I am completely at a loss here, and don't know what to do. I barely understand this whole internet/router/W.A.P./network thing as it is, and am frusterated.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Shelley

Don't use the CD. You are running behind a router already and you don't want to set up two chained routers. Instead set up the WRT as access points like this. Be sure to pick a valid and free LAN IP address in your current LAN for the WRT.
To secure the wireless you also have to do the following:
    * Change the wireless network name (SSID) from "linksys" to something unique (Wireless tab).
    * Enable wireless security. Use WPA2 Personal or WPA Personal. Use AES+TKIP for WPA2 or TKIP for WPA. Enter a strong passphrase.
    * Change the default password of the router ("admin") on the Administration tab.
