Connect 3000 to an old TV

I recently tried to hook up my laptop to an old Panasonic TV. I had everything going good. I had my S-Vid cable going to an RF modulator. Then had a coaxial going from the modulator to the tv. yeah, its that old. On the TV, all that showed was my desktop back ground. I could drag stuff onto it. I should of stopped there and been happy with it. But I decided to play with the setting and in my Presentation Manager, I hit the restore default settings. Now im in trouble. When I go to attach my S-Vid cable and hit the apply button, the number 2 monitor wont stay attached. I hope that made sense. Im a newbie at this. Please help.....

No, they are not compatible.
VGA has three component analog signals (R, G, and B) with NO sync at all on them, and separate 5 volt horizontal and vertical sync signals on two separate leads.
SVHS uses component analog Y, Pb, Pr signals.
Sometimes a display with a VGA input can accept a component analog Y, Pb, Pr signal because it's set up internally to decode those signals into RGB, but not vice-versa.

  • My itunes wont auto sync my iphone 4 after i connect it to itunes. But it can auto sync when i connect it to my old laptop. what's the problem that it can't auto sync and when i did a backup in my new laptop, it was corrupted the next day.

But it can auto sync when i connect it to my old laptop. what's the problem that it can't auto sync and when i did a backup in my new laptop, it was corrupted the next day and i was forced to use back a backup which i did in my old laptop 4 months ago. do i have to reinstall the itunes? will my backups be corrupted after i sync again? pls guide.
P.S/ its the latest version of the itunes whenever i did the backups.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

what cable do i need to use to connect my grandson's old style external isight webcam to his 2014 Mac mini in order for him to be able to FaceTime me

You need either a FireWire 800 to FW 400 cable or a FR 800 (male)/FW(female) adopter.
However. it the Mini (note that you still have the late 2012 Mini, Apple has not updated the Mini since then) has Mavericks it may not work satisfactorily. I tried it on my 2102 and I get abount 1 frame every 20 seconds. Another uses posted same problem.
However, it it work fine on my late 2009 Mini with Mavericks

  • I am unable to connect AE to Zeppelin(old style) to enable wireless streaming, hours spent on phone to Apple. Is it not possible?

I purchased an AE to connect to my Zeppelin(old type) to enable me to play my itunes library through it using Ipad/Iphone remote as i do with Apple TV/Mac etc but despite all efforts(spent 2 hours on phone with Apple support) still will not connect. I popped into Apple shop today in Liverpool and the guy there said what i want to do is not possible via the Zeppelin, having done some research i thought he was wrong.Any ideas?

There are various ways to add a laserjet to a network.
What brand and model is the wireless router?
What operating system does the computer use (preferably one that is on the same wireless network the printer is intended for)?
Does your network use a DHCP server (most home routers have this enabled by default)?  If so, is there any reason you want to use a static IP address over DHCP for your network?

  • Does the later 2009 MacBook support the Apple DVI to Video Adapter (s-video). I want to connect it to an old tv which does not support HDMI. Any suggestions?

I have a late 2009 MacBook which I want to connect to an old LG tv. The tv does not support HDMI it only has the (red, while, and yellow) ports. Sorry I dunno the exact name for it.
So I was thinking of using the Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter (s-video), link below...
    http://store.apple.com/Catalog/dk/Images/M9319_screen.jpg
But I'm afraid that the MacBook might not support the adapter.
Can anyone give me a solution for this? Is there an alternative way of doing this? I'm kinda new to apple display adapters.

The Late 2009 model 6,1 has a Mini DisplayPort not the Mini-DVI. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When the System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
Composite is the name for the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs. If you want to use the Composite input on your TV there’s no Mini DisplayPort to Composite. You’ll have to get a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_19?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field -keywords=mini+displayport+to+vga&sprefix=mini+Displayport+to and a VGA Adapter to TV S-Video RCA Out Cable for PC Video. http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Adapter-S-Video-Cable-Video/dp/B000Y7T5UU/ref=sr_1_7?s =electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316369974&sr=1-7
Only the Yellow plug or the S-Video plug for video will work. For sound you'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plugs on your TV  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=macboo k+audio+cable&sprefix=macbook+audio+cable&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amacbook+audio+cable

  • How to connect Macbook Air to OLD tv (w/o HDMI)?

    Hi,
    I have a macbook air 11"  LATE 2010.
I want to connect my Macbook Air to OLD TV, via VGA cable.
It's its old tv, but it has a big screen, anyways, it does NOT have HDMI.
I can't find the right cables I need. I tried amazon, but it gave me the wrong cable, that did not fit.
So  can you tell me excatly what cables I need to connect my macbook to my tv, please?
    Thank you so much!

Ok so i looked at my TV, turns out that you were right, and it does NOT have a VGA. But it has S-Video.
I can't seem to find the model number but, I found a picture of it on the internet. It's a 10 year old HDTV  47" Panosonic TV.

  • Connecting new MacBook to old Cinema Display

I have an old Cinema Display that I want to use with my new MacBook. I just bought the DVI to ADC adapter. I can connect the Cinema Display to the adapter but the manual illustrates that to connect to the MacBook I need to use both the USB port and another port for which there is no equivalent port on my new laptop. Any ideas?

It sounds like you are looking for an Apple Mini DVI to DVI Adapter available from the Apple Store (including the online Apple Store). You will also need a standard DVI-D cable to go between the adapter and the DVI to ADC adapter.

  • Appletv connected by dvi to old tv gets no audio

I realise my old TV - hd ready and all is not great for the AppleTV2 but its all i got. It connects via hdmi to dvi cable but no sound. what next.. i can get use the optical audio out from teh appletv2 to the tv but i have no optical audio in!!
a convertor? is there such a thing
    ior any other suggestions??

I too have just bought an Apple TV to work with an older TV and have no audio.
I've successfully linked up the ATV HDMI-out port with the TV's DVI-in port with a simple cable. The video is fine. I've also connected a Toslink optical cable between the ATV and the TV's optical-in port. But still no sound. Using the settings menu I've turned off Dolby and set the audio to 16 bit and no improvement. The cable is brand new and I can see red light coming out of the end when it's plugged into the ATV.
    Any suggestions?

  • How do you connect Retina to really old TV?

I have a Retina, Mid 2012, and would like to connect it to a really old TV that only has Composite and S-Video inputs. I don't need audio just picture. I have a mini display port to DVI adapter. Can I buy a DVI to RCA cable/adapter or does the retina not send the proper analog signal via the mini display port? If it does not, I would need some kind of break out box or i/o board. Can you recommend any inexpensive options? Thanks!

i am not sure what to do. do you need any special
    cables.
    my tv is relatively new
Connecting an iPod w/Video to a TV is a relatively simple task.
First you'll need a video patch cable with 3 RCA jacks (red, white and yellow) on one end and a four terminal mini-plug on the other-- the same cable common to many portable DVD devices (AKA: Apple iPod Video Cable.) Connect the cable from your iPod to your TV.
Next set your TV's input and make sure your iPod's TV Out is set to Ask or On (Select Video > Video Settings > TV Out)
Finally, select and play your video.
Note: in this mode video will not display as usual on your iPod's screen. Instead you'll see a menu display which will eventually fade to black after a few moments.

  • Connect Leopard iMac to old Performa running os9c

I was going to use my old 6116 (os9, crescendo g3 card) as a fileserver. Cannot get my imac (Leopard) to see the old box. Pinging the 6116 is no problem, but i keep getting an error -36 msg when i try to connect. At the performa end, sharing is all set; I've added my imac to my users list. If i try to connect to the imac from the performa, about 3/4 of the time it won't take my password.....when it does, i can see the shared folders of the imac, but if i try to connect, it crashes chooser. I am just a wee bit perplexed. Anyone got any ideas?

    Hello Paul,
I will, I really will try not to appear rude here.
Why on earth are you trying this?
Switch both machines on at the same time. The 6116 will go to the bathroom, examine teeth, check its waist line, wonder what should have been done last year, think about having some breakfast and then begin work - Maybe in an hour or so. The iMac will have learned to play the flute, solved a Rubics cube in 42 different ways, calculated Pi to 30 gazillion decimal places and all before you have had chance to open the mail.
" Anyone got any ideas? "
Give the old girl a decent burial and buy another computer to use as a server!

  • Connecting new iPod Classic, old PB G4 without USB2.0

This may be an old question at this point, but I just recieved a new iPod Classic and wish to connect it to my PB G4 through a connection faster than USB1. What is the most reliable high speed connection available? Powered PCMCIA USB2.0 card? Firewire to USB2.0 converter? Run it off the USB2.0 jack on my FW800 external drive? SOL? USB1 currently works, albeit, as many have noted, at Mac II speeds; old PB still going strong, meets all other needs, so would rather spend the $ on music. Your thoughts?

It should work but it will be slow.
USB 2.0 is 60 times faster than USB 1.1.
    PCMCIA USB2.0 card?
    Should workl okay.
    Firewire to USB2.0 converter?
    No such thing.
Run it off the USB2.0 jack on my FW800 external drive?
No, because it won't convert the FW from the computer to USB out of the drive.

  • New AppleTV connecting to 4 year old reciever

Just purchased the 2nd generation AppleTV and found that the receiver on my 4 year old Sony home theater system only has one optical audio port. That port is currently used for the Comcast set-top box. I am thinking of trying an optical audio splitter on the receiver's port. The AppleTV and set-top box would share the same input on the receiver. Is this the best solution or would there be a more effective solution? Thanks for your help!

    hi,
there is a 2nd way for getting audio out of the apple tv: hdmi. your tv/display may have an audio output which you may connect to your receiver. your tv would work as an audio pass-through device.
    hope that helps,
    paul
