Connect a Bluetooth LE device to a Macbook Air

Hello,
For the needs of a university project I have to connect my Macbook Air (mid 2013) to a Bluetooth LE device (an air pollution sensor). When looking for new devices my Mac cannot find this specific device and probably the reason is that it uses Bluetooth LE.
Do you know if a need some specific drivers or a special framework to connect to Bluetooth LE?

I have installed software similar to what I've been using for years to communicate with the same device hooked up on PCs. Even through that software I get the message that I can only connect with bluetooth, PDA, modem ect.
Is there some generic software or specific to the device you refer to? I've also installed this device on Mac's in the past, through the same software.

Make sure you set the speakers as discoverable, which usually involves holding down a button for a few seconds. Go to System Preferences / Bluetooth and you should be able to add it.

  • How do i connect to an OHP (Overhead Projector) with MacBook Air?

How do i connect to an OHP (Overhead Projector) with MacBook Air? Is it possible? What leads would I need?
    Thanks.

Good question! The simple answer is, I haven't the foggiest idea. I will be going abroad, so don't know what kind of OHP i will have to use. I have a lead that connects with a tv (HDMI - I think). But am not sure about OHPs.

  • I recently updated my iPod touch to sync through iCloud - now can't connect to the internet through wifi, my macbook air is working as we speak

I recently updated my iPod touch to sync through iCloud - now can't connect to the internet through wifi, my macbook air is working as we speak. ive tried 'forgetting this network" in settings; tried turning off and on again; and pulling my hair out! The last was equally useless and a little painful!

    Try:
    - Resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Pwer off and then back on yur router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reet Network Settings

  • Connessione via bluetooth tra iPhone 4s e MacBook Air

Se provo a connettere il mio iphone con il mio mac, sul display dell'iphone mi esce la scritta "MacBook non è supportato"
    Come posso risolvere il problema?

    Update:
I did a complete reset to the iPhone and MacBook Air.  I have removed the iPhone as a device in the Bluetooth app and then re-added it.  I get through the pairing code, etc., and the funny thing is the MacBook Air says they are paired and recognizes the device, but the phone says "Connection Unsuccessful, *name* MacBook Air is not supported."
So, there is an obvious iOS issue with the phone not being able to recognize Mountain Lion.
    Any help?

  • No pairing a philips bluetooth headphones to a new macbook air

I have a new macbook air with OS lion and philips bluetooth headphones model SHB6 100/5. The headphones are recongnised and connect to the laptop but would not pair. Any idea about how to solve that problem?

    Welcome to Apple Communities
You need Mac App Store to download OS X, and it's only in Macs, so you have to download 10.8 in the MacBook

  • When I try to use my JBL speaker, it won't connect to Bluetooth at all with my iPad Air

My iPad Air won't connect to Bluetooth so I can use my iPad Air and JBL speaker. I keeps saying it is searching for devices.....any idea what to do. I'm using wi-fi

I suspect it won't pair with your iPad, because it's paired with your phone, even though the phone is off. Do you have the instructions for pairing the speaker?  If you don't, google them and see if the device can be paired with multiple devices.

  • Stereo Bluetooth w/ Snow Leopard and MacBook Air

I just bought a Plantronics Voyager 855 stereo bluetooth headset to use with my iPhone and I would like to use it with my MacBook Air as well. Is it compatible with the MBA 1.1 and Snow Leopard?

my jbl bluetooth stereo headphones no longer have stereo sound but now have only mono since upgrade/ download of snow leopard. they sounded really great for months prior to the upgrade to snow leopard. i have a new imac and paired and repaired the device and still only mono sound.
what gives? sort of a huge disappointment since i listen to a lot of music on youtube and internet radio. seems like a downgrade to me. if i knew this i would have never upgraded to snow leopard.

  • I cannot pair any devices with my macbook air

Out of the blue my macbook air (OS X lion) will not pair with anything.  It recognises mouse and keyboard and even indicates that the devices are connected but the pairing process will not finnish and the peripherals do not work.  Restart and zapping of pram does not help.

Did you also try a smc reset?

  • How do I connect  Apple 20" Cinema Display to orignal MacBook Air which does not have a Fire-Wire port. Is this possible? Any advice would be appreciated. I have the Micro-DVI to DVI adapter. Norm

I Wish to connect my 6 year old Apple 20" Cinema Display to an orignal MacBook Air which does not have a Fire-Wire port. Is this possible? Any advice would be appreciated. I have the Micro-DVI to DVI adapter. Norm

The FireWire cable is just for the FireWire ports on the display.  The display will run without it.

  • Can i connect a Samsung VGA/DVI monitor to macbook air?

I am looking to buy a Macbook air (13.3 inch).  Is there a cable available to connect the Macbook air to my old monitor (Samsung that only supports VGA and DVI)?  Eventually, I will buy a Thunderbolt display, but can't afford that yet.
    Thanks,

Certainly you can. Just about any Apple retailer will have a Thunderbolt/MDP-VGA or Thunderbolt/MDP-DVI adapter. Apple has them also available through the online Apple Store.

  • 'connection timed out' on both iphone and macbook air

The box for the internet is in my housemates room so I can't get in to restart it (if that would fix it). They're all gone for a week so I can't check with them to see if they have the same problem. I'm asuming they would since it's happening on both my iphone and macbook. But what can I do to fix it? I've looked on line but can't get anythign to solve my problem. I've deleted the network from the computer. That doesn't help. I'm at a McDonald's fixing to solve the problem. Please help me, I really need internet for some work I have to do this weekend.  Please make it simple because I'm not good with computers.
I bought my macbook air in march 2012, I think it came with Lion.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi there,
There may be a conflict between the network settings and your devices. I would recommend taking a look at the article below and comparing that to your routers current settings.

  • Friends receive different contact information (name/number) when coming from different apple devices (iPhone 4 & Macbook Air)

Whenever I use iMessage on my iPhone 4 and send messages to my friends they receive the messages just fine and I can also view them in the iMessages app on my Macbook Air, however, whenever i reply to their response via my Macbook Air it doesn't seem to use the same contact information as my iPhone 4. My friends receive a new contact with the message i sent from my Macbook Air. How do i get them to use the same contact information so i can continue a conversation without my friends realizing that im using different devices?

    HI,
    On the iPhone
Settings > Messages  and adjust the Send From and Received At options
    On the Mac
Messages > Preferences > Accounts iMessages account
You may need to go to the Send From drop down at the bottom.
The Mac version has  Received At check boxes and a separate Send From drop down.
The issue comes around which type of iMessage the Mac versions see the messages as.
The chances are that it arrives after the iPhone gets the "original" and therefore is seen as A "Sync copy".
As this is not an on-going conversation the app regards what you see as a reply and a New Message and Sends From comes in to play.
You may also have different Received At and Send Froms set up on each device.
