I need to know if I can connect an IMac running
OS 10.2.8 to a Mac running 9.2.2. There are some
files I need to transfer over and it would be easier
if I could connect them, then to copy all the files
onto discs. Thanks for any info!

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.

I know this sounds like a weird question, but I need to connect my Mac laptop running 10.5.2 to my Polycom phone. I know there are many options like Skype, etc... but I need to use my own softphone which goes to a company dialer. For example I use ohphonex. This allows me to dial any number and point it to an IP gateway to receive my call. I can use this with the internal mic and speaker, or attach my mic to it, but quality is still not great. The polycom phone I have is an excellent phone and when I am talking to other business executives with strong accents - I need have really **** good quality.
So what I want to do is to be able to dial out of my laptop, and have the voice and the mic be used with the phone. I would like to connect the phone to the laptop so if I want to dial a phone number from the phone it will dial the program I choose (or another softphone that can let me me choose the IP gateway), and I want to be able to use the Polycom Clarity Soundpoint phone.
Can anyone help?Use a DVI to micro-DVI adapter if you're on an original MacBook Air, and a Mini DisplayPort adapter for a newer one.

Mavric doesn't support my 5 years old Big Screen Display, OR? Tried to connect my Mac Book Pro after installing Mavric, The Screen didn't work as before. I could only see the Desktop but not the movies for example.
<E-mail Edited by Host>It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files. -

Clean off your on the G5 drive and off you go.
I suggest buying a second drive and setting it up for a back up, Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper (both "bootable" back up) All searchable on the web.
