Connect a Yamaha Keyboard

Hi
I have recently purchased LE7 and I have a Yamaha PSR-78 keyboard which I would like to connect up and use with logic for recording. This keyboard does'nt have a MIDI connection and I have in the past successfully connected it to garageband and soundtrack, like this: Keyboard--->Jack--->adaptor--->imic--->mac. Thats how I used to connect it with garageband and such. When I say adaptor I mean from a big jack to little jack connection. I hope I've said this all clearly and I hope you can help me.
Thanks....

you have to initiate core audio to accept the mini jack as an input and then tell Logic to use said core audio for inputs. On top of that you need to tell Logic which specific input to use when recording. You may have option for more than one by default.
Check out "core audio" in the manual and you'll see what I'm talkn' about.
Also, consider a midi interface too in order to utilize all the software instruments on your Mac. well...nevermind, i see you don't have midi...

  • Garageband is no longer recognizing sound from my Yamaha keyboard.  This happened suddenly and I can not figure out why.  Any tips?

I connected my Yamaha keyboard to garageband via the iPad camera connector kit.  I had it working great to record, but suddenly garageband stopped recognizing my keyboard and I can not record any sound from my keyboard in garageband.  Any ideas to fix?

As a first step, try doing a Reset PRAM.

The sound settings are stored in PRAM.  If there is some corruption of settings in PRAM, a reset may fix your problem.

  • Yamaha keyboard into macbook

i am able to connect my yamaha keyboard via usb into my macbook, by i can only get the "grand piano" effect. how can i get the other effects to register ,such as the organs, dum kits, etc.?

well, i mean all the effects on my keyboard. i have around 500 effects in it
You have 2 choices (for any 1 track): to use your Yamaha keyboard as a controller, controlling GB's software instruments, or to plug the audio outs of your keyboard into the computer and record sound generated and processed in the keyboard on a real audio track.
If you're using your keyboard as a controller - using it to play instruments and effects in GB - you will not be able to access any of your instruments or effects in your keyboard. It's either/or.
Of course, you could mix it up within a song, using the yamaha as a controller on some tracks (GB sounds/effects), and tapping into its audio outs on other tracks.

When you insert a CD/DVD in the optical drive, does an icon appear on the desktop?  If not open Finder Preferences and check the appropriate box(s).

  • Garageband doesn't recognize my yamaha keyboard

    hi
I have garageband 6.0.4. and a yamaha keyboard ypt-200 and a duo-capture but when I connect the keyboard to the interface and the interface to garageband, it only recognize my interface but not the keyboard. when I do the same with my electric guitar it works but with my keyboard not. Can anyone help me?
    thanks

    Judy,
when you installed GarageBand 10.0 the installer should have moved your GarageBand 6.0.5 to a subfolder in Applications. This version should still be working. If you are working on a tight schedule, use that GarageBand 6.0.5 version for the time being, to get your show done.
GargaeBand 10.0 seems to have a bug causing crashes, i.e. on 2007 models (iMac, MBP) and mid 2011 models. If you have one of these models, use GB '11, until there is a bug fix.
    See: GarageBand 10.0 crashes
If you are using older drivers for Audio interfaces or are using plug-ins for custom instruments and sound effects, check with manufacturer's for compatibility with GarageBand 10.0 and Mavericks.

  • Newbie can't get Yamaha Keyboard input

I have a Yamaha DGX-505 keyboard. I have a Midi-USB connection lead and have installed the latest software driver. Although GarageBand recognises that I have input in that MIDI status indcates "1 MIDI input detected", I cannot get any recognisable response, either as sound or visual from GarageBand. I'd appreciate any help please.

Hi Again. It's that new guy again.
I do have a connection now and have managed to record from my Yamaha keyboard. Thanks again for your help. Although I didn't wait for your latest reply, you gave me confidence to keep trying, knowing that I had some support and help at hand.

  • TS3048 Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working can't connect mouse or keyboard.

Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working, so am unable to use Imac past turning it on. There's no way to connect mouse or keyboard, it started right after a software update for Maverick (OS X bash Update 1.0 – OS X Mavericks), bluetooth symbol not showing in the task bar at all.

    Hi SBrwn,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The symptom you're describing can be frustrating to troubleshoot as our options are limited. I do suggest resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) if you have not already. This step can help you regain use of USB and Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset the SMC on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer. [by holding down the power button]
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
You can find these steps and more information at this link:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    All the best,

  • How can i connect a Wireless Keyboard and a Trust mouse with a brand new Mac mini?

How can i connect a Wireless Keyboard and a Trust mouse to a brand new Mac mini?

Go to the Bluetooth icon on the menu bar and select "Set Up Bluetooth Device". Follow the wizard.
Alternatively, if you haven't yet unboxed and setup the Mini, you can pair the keyboard to the Mini (and possibly the mouse). However, I would set up with a USB keyboard and mouse and pair the Bluetooth devices afterwards.

am trying to connect my wireless keyboard to my apple tv and it stays in a searching mode and does not pick it up. help

    Welcome to the Apple community.
There probably isn't a lot you can do, since the router settings will be beyond your control. Many such services in hotels and the like, use a system whereby you need to login through a webpage, since the Apple TV cannot display webpages, there is no way around this. You would probably be best asking at reception if this is the case.

  • No connection between wireless keyboard and IMac

I had to change batteries in my wireless keyboard for my Imac. After that I did not manage to reestablish the connection between the keyboard and the machine. I did not manage to get the blue tooth going again before I went to bed and the session timed out , my IMac is now locked and since my keyboard does not work I am not able to type the password. How can I solve this?

Are the batteries installed properly?  Have you tried other batteries?
Have you read for possible solutions over in the "More Like This" thread over here?----------------------->
Plan B:  It's a good idea to keep a wired keyboard as a standby.  Suggest that you get hold of one.
