  • How to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.

Trying to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.  Can I use a simple cable or do I need a converter box/plug? Is the HDMI signal coming from ATV encrypted or HDCP enabled?
The TV is HD, but only has a component input and not HDMI.  Apple TV 2g only has HDMI output.

    google component hdmi converter
but they are pretty expensive and may not work at all
and will not work with any DRM material as in movies you reant and maybe netflix and the sports thingy

  • Hey, ¿apple tv needs a tv with wifi for see movies from netflix?

¿Does apple tv need a tv with wifi to watch films from netflix?

No. You just need a TV with an HDMI port.

How do i connect to an OHP (Overhead Projector) with MacBook Air? Is it possible? What leads would I need?
    Thanks.

Good question! The simple answer is, I haven't the foggiest idea. I will be going abroad, so don't know what kind of OHP i will have to use. I have a lead that connects with a tv (HDMI - I think). But am not sure about OHPs.

  • How to connect apple tv to normal speakers with 3.5mm jack?

I have recently brought apple tv, it works great with my tv. But I have optoma HD200x projector which, I think, don't have audio out. I understand that I need optical audio cable to connect it to speakers but I have JBL radial speakers with 3.5mm jack. Which cable is required as no optical audio port on jbl dock.
    Thanks

You need to connect optical to a DAC that can output analogue stereo (serach for monoprice here) or have an amp/speaker that acepts optical.
Assuming you'll hook up HDMI to the Optoma it's worth considering whether or not thsi convertes HDMI audio and has an analogue 3.5mm or RCA jack out (or headphones socket) - that might work but would entail an extra lead from the projector.

  • Connecting macbook pro to hdmi projector

Trying to hook up a mac book pro to an epson projector with hdmi cord to a mini display to hdmi converter but it is not recognizing anything? I want to watch movies purchased on Itunes on the projector screen with the projector or on the 1080p tv I have. This is frustrating!

The first thing is to rule out the adapter before pulling your hair out.  Try connecting to another display or projector to see if that works.  If it doesn't, the adapter is suspect.

  • Connecting an iPad to a projector with a wireless adapter

A business where I am going to conduct training has a ceiling mounted projector. The projector has an Imation wireless adapter installed. The product has been discontinued by Imation so they are not developing any drivers to work with iPads. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there wireless adapters that will work with iPads that I could suggest to the company? They are in the process of distributing iPads to selected users in the business so this issue has not come up for them yet.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi CraftyLady53,
I use a program called Reflector to wirelessly display my iPad onto my computer. I then connect my computer to a projector so that my iPad screen can be displayed via projector to a screen on the wall.
If you want to cut the computer out of the equation, you'll want to go with an Apple TV which you can directly AirPlay your iPad display to the projector.
    Hope this answers your question!

  • How to connect Apple TV's HDMI to HDTV's DVI connector?

My TV is equipped with DVI and VGA connector, the issue is how to link Apple TV's HDMI with my TV? DVI connector is for video only!! or I have to link apple TV's HDMI to VGA connector?

Apple TV only supports HDMI so there is no guarantee with converters. You may also run into issues with HDCP

  • How to connect Apple TV without HDMI input, what are my options?

I don't have HDMI input on my TV, but I have RCA, RGB, S-Video, Audio input, and a few others. What options exist to make the Apple TV work and still get HD quality (aside from getting a new TV)?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    DVI
Some users with DVI have managed to get their TV's to work with DVI-HDMI cables. DVI carries no audio, so alternative connections need to be explored to enable audio. DVI doesn't necessarily support HDCP as well as other standards used by HDMI (which may or may not be an issue)
    Analogue (component, composite etc)
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
    HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
    Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will ideally need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3), although the Apple TV does have a number of 4:3 resolutions it supports, but these may not be available if the TV doesn't broadcast them.
    DAC
Most types of HDMI to non HDMI connectors or converters won’t carry audio, in such cases you may also need to convert your optical output to an analogue signal using a DAC.
DAC (Example Only - Not a recommendation or suggestion that this is suitable in your circumstances)

  • Connecting apple tv2 to a projector, but need to use optical from apple tv to connect to something, to get sound.. What do I buy

Ive got an apple tv, and a new hd projecter. I've now got a huge lovely picture on the wall, but I've zero sound.... The projector has no output for sound, and is conected by hdmi...which leaves me with one option. Using the optical out from apple tv, now i have no idea.  Will this optical output work when hdmi is sending sound to projector ?  What I need is the best option to use optical out.. I would have prefered a simple phono out, and then I can plug into a big active speaker im using in the room, I owne nothing with optical connections... So what do buy ?  Ric

Ok,  I will ask the question in another way... My apple tv has one hdmi, and it goes to my hd projecter.. But projecter has no speakers, and as a result I've no sound at the moment. I am looking for a clear direction to go in, to solve lack the of any sound.. My only option seems to be, using the optical out from the apple tv.. I don't have  any equipment with this conecter. And I've never used optical before..   If i buy an, optical to twin phono converter and then I can plug into a large powered speaker I've got in my living room. And I will have big sound easily..?? Do I have any other reasonable options for optical enabled speakers, or AirPlay speakers or something simple I'm not aware of that will give me sound easily.. I don't want a messy 5:1 system, my house is very tidy, and I want to keep it that way. .  Only having this optical out is frustrating, and I need to get my head round the options I have.   Anyone understand from experience how to use the optical apple tv out.  Also, not  using anything but apple tv, no dvds, or tv , just apple tv and my ipad.. Is very quiet in my home right now though.  Ric

  • Can I connect apple tv to my computer with eather net cable?

Wanting to direct connect my mbp to apple tv since my parents do not have wifi, is there a way to do this and be able to use home share?

Yes. It does so perfectly with an off-the-shelf ethernet cable.

  • How to connect Macbook pro to a projector with the Mini Display to VGA adapter?

When I connect them nothings happens, the display has a blue screenshot for a few seconds and then get back to the normal view of my desktop. It's the same if I digit "cmd+F2"... Please help me.

The default method for adding a second display is called Mirroring. It uses a lowest-common-denominator approach to choosing display resolution, and often guesses wrong.
System preferences > Displays > ( Arrange) and drag the superimposed representations of the two displays away from each other to invoke "Extended desktop" instead. Then you should be able to set the resolution for the projector to a more reasonable one, and your picture should appear.

  • Problem connecting Apple TV2 to projector when passing through Sony Sound Bar

I'm having problems getting my Apple TV2 to work now that I'm passing it through my new Sony HT-CT150 Sound Bar to my Epson Megaplex Projector MG-850 (720p) Projector. I keep getting a "Not Supported" error on my projector - as opposed to a "No Signal" error which is what happens if I was to unplug the Apple TV.
My HDMI cables are all new and latest specs. I can connect the Apple TV directly to projector with either cable and it works fine. I have a 6 ft HDMI connecting the Apple TV to one of the Sony Sound Bar's 3 HDMI inputs and then a 40 ft. HDMI running from the sound bar's HDMI out to the projector's single HDMI input. Oddly, if I reverse the cables, it seems to work. Same two cables - just switching which one is connected to the Apple TV and which is connected to the projector. (I need the length to get to where my projector is positioned. Though I might be able to get by with a 30 ft. cable if length might be the issue.)
Anyway I think it must have something to do with the HDMI handshake or the lenth of the cables but don't know enough about it and have no idea why switching which cable comes first would fix the problem.

  • Any tips of physically attaching apple tv to a projector that's suspended from the ceiling?

I have a really convenient 1.5 foot hdmi cable that I want to attach my apple tv to my projector with, but the projector is suspended from the ceiling. The idea is that it will be out of the way and truly "wireless". Only problem is I'm worried about it falling, breaking, etc. I was thinking velcro tape might work? Any ideas? Thank

    lovethisstuff wrote:
Cool. After inspecting it some more, there is an entire flat side on the projector that has no vents for fans, so I think the velcro idea will work fine. I'll let you know if there are any interference issues. I hope not!
I'd be more tempted to attach it to the projector mount than the projector as even if there are no vents you don't really want to have a 'not by design' hot spot in the projector as AppleTv itself will generate heat. Personally I'd probably run a long HDMI cable from wherever the HDMI equipped devices and AV amp were.  Maybe this is more for presentations or something via Airplay not a home theatre environment.
Make it accessible enough that the remote will control it (reboot by holding menu and down navigation keys together for several seconds).  If you use Remote app on iphone/iPad you won't be able to restart easily if you need to with that (the only other way is to unplug/disconnect power).
