Connect Apple TV to tv via RCA cable

How do I connect my new Apple TV to my "old" tv using the RCA jacks?

there are converters but they are kinda pricy and may not work with hdcp as in it would not display stuff from itunes and netflix and the likes of services which rely on hdcp for encryption

  • Can we connect Apple TV directly in a Cogeco cable decoder?

Is it possible to connect Apple TV directly il a Cogeco cable decoder and tranfer registred tv show from decoder to Apple tv and then to Mac Book Pro, Ipad or Iphone?

    no
AppleTV has one type of input, network, either wireless or ethernet cable. It can play media from supported internet sites (apple, netflix, youtube and few others) or your iTunes on your PC or Mac.
AppleTV has two outputs. HDMI to a TV (or HDMI switcher, like a receiver) and toslink fibre audio to a TV or receiver.

help connecting Apple TV to router with ethernet cable

The process is transparent. I have done it before.
Now, it gives me an error message when I try Wi-Fi:
"There was a problem connecting to the network. Check your settings and try again.(5)"
When I try the ethernet cable connection it won't let me do automatic or custom.
I unplugged and replugged the Apple TV box but don't know how else to trouble shoot the lack of connectivity.

  • Apple TV 1st generation via rca

Hey, i have the old style back box TV & i was wondering is there anyway to connect my 1st gen apple tv to it using RCA? as cheap as pos

Officially no, unless it (the TV) had component inputs.
There was a 'workaround' for getting composite video out of one of the component sockets.  Try to Google it.

  • Can I connect my Mac to my TV via RCA cables?

I'm trying to connect my new Mac Mini to a TV that doesn't have HDMI nor DVI. It only has RCA connections and a Scart. I bought a converter to VGA from the Mac and another converter to RCA, but I only got a black screen on TV. Does anyone know how can I see my wonderful Lion on my TV? I read that it may be because of the resolution. How should be that resolution?
    Thank you very much

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort.
The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.
And also what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI, Composite or HDMI. (Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.)

  • Can Apple TV connect to my stereo speakers via AUX cable?

I want to turn my old stereo system into "AirPlay" speakers using the AUX port on my stereo. I want to do this so that I can play music through the speakers without being limited in distance by the length of my AUX cable from my iPhone/MacBook to the stereo.
The stereo has an AUX port, and I see that the Apple TV has an "optical audio" port, but I don't really understand what that means.
    My Questions:
    1. Is there an adapter to convert the Optical Audio port to AUX into my stereo?
    2. Will the apple TV act like an AirPlay device for my speakers (with no HDTV)?
    3. Should I be looking at Airport Express Base Stations instead, since they have an "Analog/Optical Audio Jack" on the back and don't require an HDTV?
Hopefully I've made my question(s) as clear as possible...
    Thanks!
    -Josh

I would recommend the Airport Express based on your needs

  • How to connect iPad to the tv via HDMI cable

we have a HDMI cable and an adapter for the iPad but it still won't connect, it isn't the cable or the tv as it works with other devices

I myself made the experience that the adapter set-up causes a lot of trouble. After the last iOS update it stopped working for me and could not be reactivated. I almost tried everything but I couldn't make it work again. I bet that in some years the video-out option over lightning will be cut-off completely. My solution: I got an Apple TV and am now streaming all my content via wifi (found  a good tutorial here). Sold my Lightning adapter on ebay. The Apple TV isn't actually that much more expensive but got some nice features. Works great with my iPad and I should have bought it right away But please, Apple, if you don't want us to use the Lightning adapter then just don't offer it at all...

  • How do I use time capsule as a direct backup drive only connect to my macbook pro via ethernet cable

I have recently abandoned my cable internet service provider and am using my iPad as a hotspot via verizon wireless service.  I am trying to reconfigure my time capsule as a back up drive only connected by an ethernet cable.
I was able to set it up on my new hotspot wireless net, but do not want to use it that way because of the data usage impact on my verizon wireless account.
Hopefully there is an easy answer, but it is not intuitively obvious to me.

Well I have to say you can do it.. but if you are plugging and unplugging ethernet, you could just as easily plug and unplug an external USB drive.. and it will be faster and more reliable than the TC.
I explained how to do the TC as a secondary network in the posts here. Look down the bottom of the discussion.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
If any of that doesn't make sense just post again here..
You can also do it with wireless if you accept using a USB wireless stick plugged into the Mac.. then you have two wireless clients and can connect simultaneously to two different networks.. using the same principles as above that you remove the gateway and dns problems that arise by manual settings.

  • Netgear wireless router won't connect to my HP Pavilion via ethernet cable

I had bought the Netgear LT wireless router for my home and I cannot get my Pavilion PC to connect via the ethernet cable. All of our tablets will connect wirelessly as well as my laptop. The laptop will also connect using the ethernet cable. I had used a wireless broadband card on my PC for that last several years without a problem, now I can't seem to connect to the internet with this new tool. When I do try to connect, a pop-up screen appears with suggestions of using the connections from the past (ie. dial-up, broadband, mobil), but does not show an option for this new router.
Someone had suggest that I may need to get an updated driver for the ehternet card, and if so, how to I get said updated driver to instal over to my PC without being connected to the internet? I've tried to reconfigure and add a "new network" connection without any luck and have uninstalled the old programs pertaining to the old connection devices.
As of now, I'm having to download my business materials on my laptop, then transfer the files to the PC via thumb drives. I'm sure I'm just overlooking something rather simple, as it is usually the case for most, I imagine. Can anyone give me another alternative to fix this issue? I plan on leaving the PC connected to the router via ethernet, while using the wireless WiFi for the other devices.
    Thank you in advance!!

  • Will a desktop connected to a wireless router via network cable be able to use a wireless printer?

My computer is a Dell runing XP home edition. This computer is connected via a network cable to the wireless router.
My deskjet 4580 printer is connected to the wireless router network and printing and scanning via wireless network with a laptop that is connected to the network wireless.
Now I want to print and scan using the desktop computer also. Should I install the wireless driver for the printer? Do I need to connect the printer with USB cable with my desktop computer?
Please help.  I do not want to disturb the laptop that can print and scan wirelessly with the printer.
    Thanks.

if the printer is connected to the router wired, then the router is the hub, so you should just need to install the driver for the printer in the machine that is not working.
If you install the full feature driver to the printer on the computer you want to print via wired to the router to the printer that should work. Run this too:

  • Connect iMac to Airport Express via ethernet cable?

I get poor performance using AirPlay to connect to my stereo with the Airport Express on the wireless network in my apartment building. The wireless router is on a different floor, and on the opposite side of the building, which I believe is the cause of the intermittent signal -- the music cuts out and back in constantly.
However, my workstation is very near the stereo, so I think I should be able to run an ethernet cable directly from my iMac to the Express. How do I set this up, though?

  • Cant connect my n81 with comp via the cable.

    plz help me out....
i can connect my n81 8gb via bluetooth....bt cant connect it via cable.....
    hence cant update the software....

You'll provable one of those who try to connect first by pcsuite tru  blue tooth, then try the cable connection, afterwards.. Usually you''ll get the error message " can't load the main phone device... of some sort." This what you'll do. Uninstall the pcsuite, Nokia connectivity & all that pertain to Nokia by add & remove program of windows xp/vista. Then & run the latest version of pcsuite cleaner. Reboot, then un install the drivers for bluetooth if it is dongle, or disable it temporarily.     Then install the latest version of pcsuite that is for your phone, don't connect the cable untill told to do so.( Sorry my editor is acting up) select cable when prompted at wait, it will take a little bit to load all the drivers.                                  Good luck, give us feedback!

  • Connecting Mac to Plasma TV via VGA Cable

I just got a VGA cable to connect my MacBook Pro (2009) to my Plasma TV. When I did, my screen on my MacBook looked like it went into a ZOOM mode where everything was bigger than normal and did not fit on the screen. Is this normal or is there a way to fix that? I did adjust my TV to landscape mode to view my open application.
    Suggestions?

Open System Preferences/Displays and see what both screens now offer for resolution options, set them both to the best sizes for your intended use. You may have to click the Options Tab then 'Overscan' on the TV panel.
