Connect Contacts on MAC Mail Software

I have another question.
I am wondering if it's possible to connect the contacts I have on the server and I can see on my webmail to the Macintosh Mail software. Is it an LDAP? I am not talking for the global userlist. I am talking about the personal address book each user has.
Thanks,
Savvas

Is it an LDAP?Yes the contacts are stored in an LDAP repository.
I am not talking for the global userlist. I am talking about the personal address book each user has.I don't personally own a Mac so I cannot say what may or may not be possible. What I can say is that although we store the contact information in LDAP it is unlikely to be in a format that can be recognised by the Mac Mail software although other forum readers may be able to confirm this one way or another.

Shane.

  • Return receipt plug in for Mac Mail software?

Return receipt for Mac OSX 10.4.6 build in email software “Mail” 2.0.7 (746.2/749.3) 2005 Apple Inc.
Is there a return receipt plug in for Mac Mail software? I want to know if my sent mail was received and know if the mail was opened.

    Kboo,
in general not a good idea. This may cause loops with Out-of-Office responders and also not a very trustworthy confirmation.
Options are to use certified email servers as an intermediate (google to find many) or to request explicitly a written reply from the recipient.

Can I set up Groups of contacts on Mac Mail?
    Thanks  markinnyon

Yes, you can. Is "Mac OS X (10.7)"  still your current system?
You can create groups from the File menu in the "Address Book /Contacts" application.

  • I suddenly cannot search my Address Book (Contacts) in Mac Mail.  Seems to be "stuck" on one contact

I suddenly cannot search my Mac Mail Contacts.  Normally, when I type in a name, it immediately comes right up to that contact.  Only way I can see a particular contact I want is to double click on that name.  I want to be able to see it to the right of the list of all my contacts on the left.  Thanks in advance for your help.  I've tried quitting the application, but it's not helping.  I've also checked and all my Software Updates are up to date.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
Not exactly clear, but in Address Books tool bar, is Groups & Names shown, or just Names?

  • What is the best way to transfer my Yahoo mail account email, email folders and contacts to Mac Mail?

A new version of Yahoo Mail has unexpectedly been dumped on long time users a few days ago, leaving many of us with functions that no longer work and are unstable. There was no announcement of a Beta or a possibility of retaining the old Yahoo Mail. It was like "Here it is, like it or not. We don't care."
My son said "Why don't you use another email client?". I thought of Mac Mail immediately. I have found a lot of instructions as to how to move my Yahoo mail components, and they sound pretty easy, but what I haven't found is what happens to my Inbox email, my archived email and my contacts. Do I have to move all those components to Mac Mail manually, and if so, will they now reside on my hard drive? Maybe I'm getting in over my head here. Some of the instructions say all I need is just my Full Name, Email address and Password. I guess I'm a cynic. It just sounds too good to be true. What happens to the stuff that was on Yahoo?
I have a couple of other reputable email accounts, but I would have to go through all my friends and businesses and inform them of the changed email addy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never bothered w/Yahoo Mail latest upgrades or updates.
You can switch back to the old version of Yahoo Mail by going into your Yahoo Preferences and/or check the top right hand corner of its website.

  • Outlook contacts to mac mail

    Hi
How do I import Outlook Contacts from my PC (Windows XP) to Mac Mail?

There are a number of ways to do this... one that I have found to be reliable is to install the free Plaxo plugin (http://www.plaxo.com) -- first on the PC, then sync... then install it on the Mac, and sync. The added bonus is that contacts changes made on one computer will be synchronized to the other.

  • How can I find/set up the AOL contacts in mac mail

  • Cannot See Attachment in Yahoo! Mail in mac mail software

    Hi guys,
Mac mail is driving me crazy. I tried to send myself attachment email from hotmail to my gmail and yahoo mail. When i opened mac mail, i could see the attachment in gmail but not Yahoo! mail. Why? Is there any solution to fix this world biggest problem that i am having at the moment?

That is one of the many reasons Apple is just a tour system with little practical use I today's buss world and data. To do a basic function you have to buy adult apps.

  • Can anyone advise me how I can disable Connection Logging in Mac mail please it seems to have been added when I changed my internet settings thanks very much

Can anybody advise me how I can disable "Connection Logging which has set itself up in Mail, when the settings were changed for internet connection I am running OSX mavericks  10.9.3 thanks very much

I certainaly did not turn connection logging on but the effect was disastrous.  Mail would not respond as long as there was a slow connection. I figured this out through turning off all network connections and watching Mail spring back to life and let me search my messages.
Normally if a connection is slow to respond, mail just lets the slow connection do it's thing while everything else operates largely unhindered. With connection logging turned on, your Mail app is a slave to the slowest connection to a mail server (I have 8 total)
I had to crash mail over and over again to do a simple search of my messages until I happen to notice that this connection logging was turned on.  I found this thread, turned it off, now Mail works as well as it ever has (very buggy but usable)
How dare Apple do that behind my back!?  After all the problems there are Mail, they have the gall to turn on logging and reduce Mail to unusable?
I also deleted all the logs for a good house keeping seal of approvable.  They were here:
Some day Apple might consider hiring a test team... instead of relying on all the users.

  • Notifying all contacts in Mac Mail of address change

I'm getting a new work email address.
Can someone give me the step-by-step of how to notify all senders in my inbox and folders of my new address?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, worked like a champ after a little figuring out where and how to access the download folder. Was a good learning experience, appreciate the help. If you can, does the notify you when the mail ap is not running? Or does the mail program have to be running to have it notify you.

  • Can not access .mac mail thru shared internet connection

    I own a powerbook G4.
I recently purchased a mac mini for home. It is connected to a cable modem via ethernet.
I am connecting the powerbook to the internet using internet sharing via airport thru the mini - no problems.
I am, however, unable to connect to my .mac mail from the powerbook.
    The following message is displayed:
-There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account ".Mac Account" or try again.
The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "mail.mac.com" on port 993 timed out.
I am able to check mail from the mini.
    What am I doing wrong?
It was working earlier, and it DOES work if I reverse the config and connect my powerbook to the cable modem ... weird.
    Any help would be appreciated.

The server error encountered was: The connection to
    the
server "mail.mac.com" on port 993 timed out.
Port 993 indicates Use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is
selected for the .Mac SMTP server which I didn't
believe is supported with a .Mac account and when
selected, I'm not sure why it is working when
connected direct to the Cable modem and not
    otherwise.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the
Advanced tab for your .Mac account preferences,
deselect Use SSL and the incoming mail server port
will change from 993 to 143 which is the standard
incoming mail server port for a .Mac or IMAP type
    account.
    Still does not work.
    Port 143 times out.
Both computers accessing the same .mac account - is this a problem?
All other aspects of the wireless network function. Just no email (in or out) on the powerbook connected via airport.
Reset both machines several times as well.
    Thanks in advance ...

  • .mac mail not connected today

today on my main tower machine mail can't connect to the .mac mail servers. the account is grayed out in the account list view. i can access the email through webmail and i'm getting new email. i'm even getting it to work on my powerbooks mail client. what's going on with my tower's mail.app program?

Mailbox > Online Status says Take Offline for this account, right?
    correct.
Go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced. Are Enable this account and Include when automatically checking for new mail checked?
    yes.
Open Window > Activity Viewer. Do you see there any activity related to this account?
    not at the moment.
What happens if you do Mailbox > Get New Mail for this account?
i get a very quick flash of the "clock dial" busy icon that all the mail accounts get. but the .mac (what i've named that mailbox) stays gray.
Does Mail display there the messages that it doesn't download?
    it does not.
Also, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network > Show: Network Port Configurations, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
yes, that's obviously working since i'm on the internet at the moment.
this email address has been working for years and now suddenly it's acting "offline" without even the offline indicator. the odd thing is that it's doing it on multiple machines (3) on two seperate networks. so that rules out an isp issue. there must be a problem in the configuration of the account from apple's side otherwise how could it bork 3 different computers in two different location on different networks? even stranger is that the webmail part of it is still working and it's also showing up on my treo. it's all really weird.

  • Not able to contact Mac Mail Servers

About 4 days ago, MS Entourage stopped receiving email and sending emails. In fact I can't even delete old email because I keep getting a message that Entourage can't contact the Mac mail servers. I have not changed any mail settings or my password. I swithed over to Mac Mail and was able to received and send messages for about a day and now this program just freezes up when I attempt to use it.  Since this problem cropped up I have been able to go to icloud to retrieve and send email. I would like to use the email programs on my MacBook. Is Apple having a problem with their mail servers or this an icloud sync problem with my desktop email programs?

I shut my computer down over the past few days and when I booted it back up, noted that my Mac. Mail account had not received any mail while I was gone, event though Iphone and Icloud did.
The incoming mail server is greyed out.   Have researched this to no avail.
    Any suggestions?

  • Mac mail and btinternet address

For the last two years I have regularly lost my email connection on my mac mail. Tech help usually gets it restarted but then it drops again. I'm repeatedly asked for my password  but this does not unlock my mail. Can use Yahoo fine but prefer mac mail. Sub account ironically is working  fine

I am not familiar with bt.  it seems that bt is your isp which uses yahoo for email.
    https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.intl=uk&.partner=bt-1&.done=http%3 a//bt.yahoo.com/%3f
How are you accessing your email?
in a web browser, OS X mail?  I use thunderbird.
You have an ips which is bt.
You have an email provider with is bt/yahoo.
What is your program on the mac which you hope to access your email with?
Yahoo recently enabled imap mail for desktop comptuers.  ( not sure when, but in the last year.  )  People have been running into hassles since then.  It took me two weeks to sort out my lack of login. I had to set up a second yahoo account & a google account  ( kid you not!!! ) to gain access to my main yahoo account.
I think you should try to contact bt/yahoo.
It's not easy to get in contact with yahoo.  You need to be logged in to yahoo to send the "email".  If you are not logged in, you do not get the change to send the "email".
    Go here: http://io.help.yahoo.com/contact/index?l…
    Pick:
    Yahoo! Account
    Password and Sign In
    Unable to Sign In
Enter "unable to sign in" in the box available.
Now you'll see a yellow button "Password Helper", click it. If that doesn't work, use the link "Contact Customer Care" below the yellow button which allows you to email the accounts team to ask for help.
If you do not mind changing your email server, you could try google.  mail.google.com
I have verizion.net as my isp.  I have email accounts on google, verizon, and yahoo.

  • Unable to access webmail in browser and Mac Mail

I am a Mac convert from PC and I love my Macbook Pro with Retina display that came with Mountal Lion. Until recently after my visit overseas, I am neither able to access my ISPs webmail through Safari or Firefox on my laptop nor through Mac Mail app with unchanged settings provided by Road Runner, such as webmail.kc.rr.com, apop-server.kc.rr.com/smtp-server.kc.rr.com/110/25. Safari is too slow and hangs with connection errors for webmail. My ISPs id is my business id I use as I travel overseas constantly. I spent several hours and had my spouse call in local tech support and it is a pain having to call your spouse to login and forward email to a public email. Any help is appreciated as my ISP has been anything but helpful in resolving this issue blaming the OS.

Thanks for your reply, Sig. I spent over three hours with my ISPs support tech, deleted and added my account, and even rebuild was of no avail. From Terminal, I am able to ping and I get an IP address but when I try connecting to webmail server, the browser returns an connection error, in Mac Mail I get the following message,
    "Unable to receive Mail -
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Road Runner” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop-server.kc.rr.com” on port 110 timed out." The tech asked me to check with the local ISP who directed me to ask Road Runner to clear the block off SMTP port.
I have not used mail2web until now, but would give it a try if it resolves my issue. Thanks for your help and assistance.
