Connect Contacts on Mountain Lion as on iOS 6.0

Isn't it possible to connect several Contacts (like an iCloud and an Facebook) on Mountain Lion to just one Contact like on the iPhone?
I've connected them all on my iPhone, but on my Mac not everyone is connected. Just a few.
But I do not find any way to do this on Contacs on Mountain Lion.  It is very annoying to see each person 3 times, iCloud, Facebook and a Work Group.
Thanks

Ok, you're going to have to use a different term, then. Merge means combine the info on two cards into one card.
Where exactly do you see the information that you want "merged."
Say you are looking at one Contact, you obviously see some other contact, somewhere, that you want to somehow relate to the one. Can you fill in the details of the somewhere, somehow.
How is that information "merged" on iOS 6. Where do you see that information? How is it combined?

How do I sync Office 2011 for Mac (Outlook) contacts with Contacts under Mountain Lion (or iOS6)?  Outlook doesn't seem to have moved on from iSync, and meddling seems to produce unpredictable results.

You can't. Microsoft have not added support for the industry standard sync protocols iCloud uses.

Someone is having problems with connection on Mac Mountain Lion? I did a clean install and the connection is unstable.

Have you tried to reset your network settings ?
What I would do is delete the connection, and then retry the set up of that connection.

  • Adding pictures to contacts in mountain lion

I'm having issues getting picture to contacts in mountain lion. Any help?

Same here. It seems like I can add only the standard OS X avatars, or any "Faces" I've tagged of the person in iPhoto. I can't just pick a jpeg as my image. The iPhoto Faces option would be less aggravating if manually adding/editing a Face in iPhoto wasn't so buggy.

  • Server App can't connect to a Mountain Lion server

    Hi,
I installed OS X Mountain Lion Server (2.2.1) on a 2012 Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.4. I am able to access all the options using the Server.app on the Mini. Then I installed the Server.app (2.2.1) on a 2010 MacBook Pro running 10.8.4. On trying to configure the Server options on the Mac Mini from the MacBook Pro by providing the correct Mac Mini admin credentials, the password is not validated correctly. This happens when both the systems are on the same network or on different networks.
I am certain that the username / password provided is correct, since using the same credentials I can successfully remote into the Mac Mini using Apple Remote Desktop (3.6.1) when both the systems are on the same network or on different networks.
My situation supersedes the resolution provided in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3960?locale=en_US. Note that the command sudo launchctl list | grep -q com.apple.servermgrd && echo loaded || echo not loaded returns loaded on the Mac Mini.
    Please help!

I am having exactly the same setup and exactly the same problem - nevertheless I would like to add some more information in order to hopefully find / get help from other readers in here.
I am using DynDNS - not a dedicated domain. I do not utilize an AirPort Extreme for port forwarding and else. All the necessary port forwardings were triple checked!
    - First of all "Apple Remote Desktop" is able to connect to my server over the internet (screen sharing) and locally in my LAN. No troubles here.
    - My iOS devices can connect using various VNC clients without any troubles.
    - VNC connections started within Safari (MacBook Pro) do work very well, too.
    - All kinds of WebDAV connections are working like a charme.
    - When connecting with "Server.app" from my MacBook Pro it asks if I would like to trust the self-signed certificate before I can enter name and password. After trusting that certificate it doesn't matter which account information I am entering: none is accepted. It does not make any difference if I am using a local user account or a user network account (both configured as being allowed to administer that server). "Server.app" does not accept any information provided.
I've been following the KB advice, too that c xavier mentioned. "servermgrd" is loaded!
For some odd yet unknown reason neither WAN nor LAN FTP login does work, too. It just gives me a time out, as already mentioned WebDAV is working fine.
Sorry I could not help You, c xavier! I just thought that some additional information could help...

  • Syncing contacts between Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard?

One of my computers is running Mountain Lion, and the other is running Snow Leopard and so does not have access to iCloud. Is there any way to sync Contacts between the two computers?

I am not sure why you can't access iCloud, using a browser? Then you have the same address book, so long as you are connected to the internet.  https://www.icloud.com/
No email involved. From the browser, you can download individual iCards or all of the individual cards, BUT unfortunately, not the Groups. So, you have to fiddle on the SL machine with keeping the groups organized.
Up until recently, I have been able to sync Contacts from ML (which stays synced to iCloud) to SL this way:  copy the /Users/~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ folder from the ML computer to the SL computer by dragging the icon onto the dock's AddressBook icon, this should retain all the group info.  But, recently, this has ceased being complete.
Apple really left us behind on this one.

  • How can I drag a photo into a contact in Mountain Lion Contacts?

I used to be able to go to a person's web site and drag his/her picture into a contact in AddressBook. In Mountain Lion it AddressBook is now called Contacts. When creating a new contact, the picture field still shows up, and dragging a photo (in this case a jpg from a web page) into the field still shows the green plus sign. But then nothing happens. Clicking on the picture field just reveals the same dialogue as the one when creating ones own picture/icon.
    Looks like a bug.

Thanks, that helped. It turns out dragging a web picture to Mail and then to Contacts also woks. I guess my question becomes then, why is it not possible to directly drag a picture into Contacts -- like it used to be?
Also, all contact pictures are now also getting entered into the list of "Recents" across all contacts, including my own, and including "Recents" when selecting an account picture.
That's clearly broken compared to how it used to be in Lion where there was a distinction of (recent) pictures for oneself and pictures for other contacts.

  • Can't connect ipad to Mountain Lion iMac via Internet sharing?

    Hello,
I've always used Internet Sharing to create a wifi hotspot from my iMac, so that I can get an internet connection on my iPad.  After updating to Mountain Lion this does not seem to work.  Anyone know how?
The hotspot generated by my iMac's internet sharing has never worked with my Kindle, but I would at least expect it to work with Apple's own products.  Hoepfully someone knows a solution?
    Thanks
    Bob

Seems that the issue is something to do with connecting via WPA2. When I set Internet Sharing to use WEP (by option-clicking the security menu), I'm then able to see the network shares and the printer.

  • Safari Cannot Connect with Server (mountain lion) on wifi

I Posted this under Mountain Lion as Safari had no connectivity issues for me when I got my mbp and it had lion installed and ran beautifully-
NOW my apple (s) run fine on mountain lion
    for a little bit,
and then I get "Safari Cannot Connect to Server"
Now during this frequent occurance the  APP store hangs and hangs as well.
    This is most annoying-
The only way to use my apple products after this happens is to restart them
and then they work until they go into sleep mode,
sometimes they screw up before that and then
    "Safari Cannot Connect to Server"
my Airport utility shows that it is scanning for  networks-
When I was right in the middle of buying something from amazon-- I had to go to my decrepit old windows xp connected up only for cox email to complete the transaction-
This is not acceptable. Since it occurs on both of my apple computers and only started when I installed mountain lion.
This has continually gotten worse to the point I must restart my laptop continually-
Apple better get the lead out of their butts and fix this glaring fault- or should I install another web browser?
which I am disinclined to do-
I spent a fortune on these apple products and I expect them to work properly- I went to apple because I was so sick of microsoft and its endless headaches and updates and freezes lol--
kind of funny if you think about it.

    Hi BSU1960,
I found the solution to my problem on a different forum.  Turns out for some reason the anti-virus software that I run was interferring with my browsers' connecting to the internet.  Once I disabled the web protion of the anti-virus my problem went away.
I have a question to Kaspersky Security, hopefully will find out what was the root cause.

  • Create keyboard abbreviations in Mountain Lion like in iOS?

    Hi,
I know that in iOS it's possible to create shortcuts/abbreviations. Example, if I type FYI, it will auto correct into For Your Information. I was wondering if it was possible on Mountain Lion as well and if so, how?
    Thanks!

In Mavericks OS X 10.9x, open keyboard preferences and select the Text tab.  I believe, but am not completely sure, that 'macros' created in iOS are synched with this table.

  • Can I use Facebook integration with Mountain Lion without adding all my Facebook contacts to my contacts in Mountain Lion?

I wanted to post a picture from email straight to Facebook....  Mountain Lion asked if I wanted to add all my Facebook contacts to my Contacts app...  Do I need to do that?  I'd like to keep that separated...

Yes, you can keep your facebook contacts out of your contacts app.
Open system preferences>mail, contacts, and calendars>(your facebook account)>contacts
There should be a check box for contacts, if you uncheck it, your facebook contacts/friends should not end up in your contacts app.
I'm not 100% sure, sorry, I don't have facebook integration activated on my Mac.

  • There's No Camera Connected - OS X Mountain Lion

Please help! I've been searching for the solution why my built in camera doesn't recognized after some updated just a few days ago. I have a macbook air mid 2012 and my operating system is OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Will my mac camera work again if I upgrade it to mavericks? Please give me solution. Thanks!
    -Sarah

The upgrade to 10.9 is not a cure for your issue.  Use Apple's troubleshooting article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 to be certain your problem is not application or user specific.
If your problem is the same with both Apple and third party camera apps in every user account you test, use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then download and apply the latest Combo Update.  For your Mac OS 10.8.5, the current Combo is at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676.
Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble remains after using the latest combo update, Reinstall OS X Mountain Lion.
