That's a good reason
Doing things this way, though, is the only way you'll be able to access the photos in your camera with the phone. The phone, when connected in mass storage mode, is a USB client (not host) just like the camera is. Hoping to get the pictures from one to another by simply connecting them together is like hoping to transfer files from one external hard disk to another by simply connecting them together. It ain't gonna happen.

  • Connect Digital Camera to iPhone (3G)

Can I directly connect my digital camera (with USB) to iPhone? If yes, how? If not, why not?
I don't want to have my Mac with me on holiday to get my photos on my iPhone to send them to my friends...
    Thanks!

If you are taking pics with your iphone you can email from there, but using a digital camera is better for quality. You can take the memory card to any walgreens or wal-mart and have a photo cd made and then make copies of that.

  • I have just bought Macbookpro and when ı connect digital camera from firewire port ı never see the image at macbook pro.

I have just bought the macbook pro. When i connect the digital camera (sony dxc-c33p) to mac from firewire port i never see this camera imovie or quick time programs. Macbook pro never connect the digital cameras via firewire port. What can i do to solve this problem?

    4. finally i went to apple support office and we connected the camera and tried to take movie at four different brand new macbook pro but they didn't work.

  • IPod Touch not travel friendly - can't connect digital camera to it.

I thought the iPod Touch would be perfect for any trip... Until I went on a trip with it.
Why doesn't Apple design a USB interface for the iPod Touch that plugs into the bottom of the unit, allowing digital cameras to to connect via USB through PTP? Just like if you had connected it to a Mac? Then you could upload pictures and videos to Flickr and Youtube from the iPod Touch while you are traveling! All I want to take with me on my trips is my iPod Touch, and my digital camera.
By the way, many hotels don't offer wifi, only ethernet! How about an ethernet adapter for the iPod Touch???

They did do for some previous iPod models. But maybe it wasn't popular enough to continue development.

  • Connecting digital camera w/video output to ipod

can i view pics by connecting my digital camera with video output straight into my ipod?

    Stephen,
I had posted a similar question here regarding downloading video from my digital camera. No replies, so I went to the Apple store today with my Sony DSC-H1 with a short video and a few photos on it. Had it hooked up through the "camera connector" accessory to the new iPod and everything was successfully downloaded to the iPod. The photos can be viewed on the iPod but the video is not in a format recognized by the iPod, so you can't review the video but the stored video can then be loaded onto your Mac for editing, etc.
A 1 gig Memory Stick for my camera costs $125.00 CDN, so for the price of 4 I can get 60 gigs of storage. SOLD!

  • Connecting Digital Cameras To 30gb 'New' ipod

Just got my new iPod and am very pleased with it. Just a quick question can you connect a digital camera to it and download images?
The reason I ask is that it would be very useful for the work I'm in!
Any help is very much appreciated.

yes you can connect your digital camera to your ipod and download images onto the ipod. all you need is the Apple iPod Camera Connector. You can check it out on:

  • Connecting digital camera Sony DSC S-80 on to USB fails

When I connect my camera DSC-S80 on the computer, It does not recognize the camera. If I connect the camera on another computer with Windows XP every thing is ok. Who can help

    Hi Hans,
If your camera came with an installation CD you should load this first and only connect your camera when asked to do so by the installation process. This will ensure that when your camera is connected the correct driver will be associated with it.
If you connected your camera first then the operting system has to use the nearest approximation for it and this will probably result in your camera not being recognised correctly.

  • Connecting digital camera to iPod

I've imported my first movie directly from my Hp photosmart camera to my iPod, by using the special connector. iPod cannot play the movie and reports that Quicktime can be used. On my worldtour I only have my iPod and my camera. Is their another option to play the movies on the camera without using the computer?
    CU, Wim

It would be a great feature to be able to view (and back up) photos on the 'big screen' of an iPod Touch when on holiday for instance.
For me a reason to (for now not) buy one.
There's seems to be a possibility to get wifi on your camera. (special card) ??
Then you could use an app called Regal Media to transfer.
But anyway it would be much better to be able to just connect the camera to the iPod Touch with usb.
I hope this will be possible soon.

  • Connecting Digital Camera

How do I get my Canon Elph SD 1100 IS to show up on my desktop? My EOS software is greyed out, doesn't work. It's so much better to just not use that. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Steve

There are some good reasons for using a card reader. The multi-card USB readers are cheap and will mount any card on your desktop. Some cameras won't mount directly. To mount the camera you need to plug in the USB and power cable ( don't count on battery for downloads.) The USB connection on the camera is not very sturdy. The memory card and memory card slot are. If you run into trouble with a card reader/card they are easy and inexpensive to replace.
If you use a card reader do not format (erase) the card on the Mac. Format the card in the camera.
BTW, preferences in Image Capture determine what if anything happens when you plug in a camera or card reader. iPhoto doesn't set this preference for your Mac.

  • How to make a digital camera appear as a connected drive

How do I make a connected digital camera appear as a drive on the desktop instead of opening iPhoto?
    Thanks!

Depends on what camera you have - to stop iPhoto form launching go to the iPhoto preferences and set action when a camera is connected to do nothing
Some cameras mount to the desktop and some do not - for example few if any Cannon cameras mount - most Sony do - depends on the manufacture and how they implemented things

  • How to import a movie from a digital camera that cannot be connected

The friend who recorded my wedding has a camera that doesn't have the connection cable for the laptop, but only for the TV. Is there a way to download the movie in the Powerbook. I need to import it in iMovie because i had to mix it with another video that my mother did.
I connected the camera to the dvd recorder of the tv and I save the movie as video, but now it is a dvd and I cannot use the content of the dvd and work on it with iMovie, can I?
    Thanks
    Silvia

If your mother shot a video with a camcorder which can be connected to iMovie ..i.e; a 'miniDV' or 'Digital-8' camcorder which has a 'DV' or 'i.Link' digital connection.. then your friend's camcorder can probably be connected to that ..probably via a small adaptor and the cable which connects it to the TV (..which may be an 'RCA'-plug 'composite video' connection).
So your friend's video could probably be played straight onto a miniDV tape which could then be imported into iMovie. Or it may be possible to pass the "TV-style" composite video signal straight through the other (your mother's?) camcorder and directly into iMovie that way, without even needing to copy it onto another tape.
You need to find out the make and model number of your friend's camcorder - as catspaw suggests; it may be perfectly compatible with iMovie anyway! - and also the details of the one your mother used, too.
Or just look at the actual physical tapes:
..if they look like this: second picture down, on the left on this page ..that's a miniDV tape ..that WILL import straight into iMovie using a miniDV camcorder. (Here's that pic again:)
..and if one of those tapes is a 'Digital-8' tape, and looks like this then it might also be imported straight into iMovie with a suitable camcorder. (Here's that tape again:)
So you may be able to get the original footage straight into iMovie, rather than having to use an extra program like 'MPEG Streamclip' or 'Handbrake' to extract the footage off a DVD.

  • IPhone connect to Digital camera or Eye-fi

Hi. Can I connect the iPhone to digital camera? If it is not possible, can I connect an eye-fi card to the phone? Thanks

I do not know of a way that iPhone and digital cameras can be connected (directly) at this time. However, Eye-fi has an application for the iPhone that will take iPhone photos and upload them over the internet to your computer. It works very well.
Eye-fi transfers photos wirelessly from the camera/SD card to your wireless router, then over the internet to an Eye-fi server and then down to you computer. This process works well, too.
Eye-fi comes with a USB adapter so that you can take the card out of your camera and "import" the photos to your computer
Eye-fi will transfer photos to iPhoto but you must select this feature thru your Eye-fi "account".
I wish Eye-fi connected directly to my computer over my local wifi network, but I could not determine how to do this.

  • I get an error message when I connnect my digital camera to my Ipad 2 to dump pictures.  Something about the device (camera) takes too much power?

I get an error message when I connect my digital camera to my Ipad 2.  Something to the effect that the device takes too much power...Any ideas how to remedy?

    Kevin-
I've read that Apple reduced the current limit for their Camera Connection kit, with one of the iOS updates.  It is a known problem, so they may have made an adjustment with a later update.  Be sure you have the latest version (4.3.3) on your iPad 2.  If you continue to have the problem, report the details to Apple at
    <http://www.apple.com/feedback/>.
One thing to try is to use your camera's memory card directly with the Camera Connection kit.  (Use a card-to-USB adapter if the card is not SD.)
