Connect E2000 To Apple Devices

This is what I found when connecting Apple devices...
after you've setup router with new username, password, etc
in browser, go to wireless router ip address: http://192.168.1.1
click on Wireless / Advanced Wireless Settings
disable Security Mode
connect new device to your unlocked wireless network in list
back in browser, enable Security Mode
connect new device to your locked wireless network in list
new device will prompt for password
I had to do this to 3 iPhones and an iPad. Windows computer prompted for password when I tried to connect.
Hope this helps!

  • Airport extreme not connecting to non-apple devices

Hi, I just installed a airporte extreme to serve as my home router (normal home network stuff).  My set-up is a cable modem to the extreme to an iMac.  The internet connection works, the wifi also works since I have a MacPro that works fine.  The issue is I can't get non-apple devices to read the wifi signal.  I have a sonos sound system and a Canon wifi printer that both worked fine with the old router (linksys), but with the extreme installed I can't get the signals to be recognized.  This seems like an airport set-up issue, any advice on what to look for and check?
My iMac is new and on Mountain Lion; my MacPro is a year old and on 10.7.4

I figured it out so perhaps I can help out the next person.  I am a novice to technical set-ups so this may second nature to some of you.  Basically, what I learned is that the wifi devices that I was trying to set-up all have a internal "memory" and still tries to communicate with previous routers that it was connected to.  Therefore, you have to get the devices to forget by powering them down for sufficient time, and take out batteries, so that it is more like a fresh set-up.  All is fine now.

  • WRT120N connection issues with Apple devices

my family has a plethora of devices we connect to the internet wirlessly through our relatively new WRT120N router, including a desktop, 3 laptops, 2 iPhones, 2 iPod Touches, an iPad, and a Playstation 3.
The wireless on the laptops and desktop (all are PCs) is fine, but the wireless on the Apple devices is terrible. every 5 seconds or so the signal will drop and the devices will lose the connection with the wifi. You have to go to settings and wireless to reconnect, but that will only last you another 15 seconds (if you're lucky). I have updated the firmware on the router, but it didn't do anything.
Does anybody have an idea of how to fix this problem? It's ridiculously annoying, and I have a feeling can be fixed with relative ease, especially since it's just the Apple products that are affected.
    Thanks!

    @ jimmypat1221,
Same here and I did some research and here’s what I found.  I accessed the router settings by typing the 192.168.1.1 (http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=856544c9d38d4e7a870493667aac568b_20603.xml&pid=80&...) and I found out that the firmware is not updated, so I upgraded the firmware my self. I downloaded first the firmware (http://support.linksys.com/en-apac/support/routers/WRT120N) and saved it to my desktop screen. Going back to the router settings and I just follow this link on how to upgrade (http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=96&vw=1&articleid=4030) and it was successfully upgraded.  I set my set settings on the router with channel 11 and the security was wpa2 personal. From then on I don’t have issue with any of my apple devices.

  • Wrt120n Intermittent Wireless Connection For Specific Apple Devices

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my Linksys wrt120n router firmware & had to reconfigure settings.  Subsequently, some (but not all) of my apple devices are having intermittent wirelesss connection problems.  Specifically, my ipad1 & ipad2 never lose thier connection but a macbook pro (~ 2 years old), iphone 3g, iphone 4, older ipod touch & very old ibook g4 all work for a period of time (usually 1/2 day) & then lose thier connection.  When I attempt to reconnect these devices I receive the following error..."unable to join the network xxxxxx....".  I also have a Dell laptop (1 1/2 yrs old) that generally does not have the connection problem.  Finally, when the devices do lose thier network connection all I have to do to reconnect is go to the Linkys router setup webpage & click on save & the wireless connection works again (almost like this is just refreshing the connection for these specific apple devices).  I was not having any problem prior to the firmware upgrade & from what I have read the older firmware version is no longer available so going back to the old firmware does not appear to be an option.  Any help is appreciated?

Let me know the name of the ISP? Let me know the ip address that you are getting from the router. To check the IP address that you are getting from the Router...
You can check the IP address in the following manner:
    # Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt.
    # A black pop up box should come up, type: "ipconfig /all" …
There check the IP address and Default Gateway under LAN….
    # Open up the browser on the desktop and on the address bar type “Address of the Default Gateway” that will open up the Router setup page…
    # On the same set up page reduce the MTU size to 1400 from Auto.
    # Then Click on wireless Tab select Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, and 11. Click Save Settings.
Secondly avoid using any other wireless devices like cordless phones, microwave oven etc nearer to the router. Then check the wireless connectivity.

  • Home share and air play dropping connection on all apple devices !!!

Why is home sharing and air play dropping my connection on AP 1 and AP 2 since the update? This is ridiculous to not be fixed yet or put in place before Lion release

I've been using Home Sharing since it came out. But last night after I had rented a TV show on my iMac Home sharing just wouldn't work from my AppleTV2.
I could see my Mac, select the TV show, but it wouldn't play. Network connectivity was fine. Then I went to my Mac and tried to stop and start HS. It wouldn't authenticate.
Was there a problem on Apple's end?
This morning it appears working? Is yours working now...

  • Connection timeout with Apple WiFi devices

    Ok, here's the scenario.
The important thing to remember is that all was working well, as happy as 'larry the lamb'. Being that I was running Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro 8,3 while accessing the internet through my iPhone 4 using it's Personal Hotspot feature (with iOS 4.2.5/4.2.6 running on the iPhone 4). Internet thethering worked beautifully between the MacBook Pro & iPhone4 and all was well. Some time before this I had used the Time Capsule's WiFi for internet access with NO problems (when I had dedicated broadband), but then switched to using mobile tethering (personal hotspot feature).
I then upgraded to OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511) the day it was released and did this over a friends fast internet connection using cable ethernet connection for quicker speed. While I was doing this, I also downloaded the latest iOS update for my iPhone 4 being iOS 4.3.4 (8K2).
Then the problems started.. I have not been able to connect to the iPhone's Personal Hotspot, nor the Time Capsule's WiFi and neither the Airport Express unit  (that plugs straight into the power socket). All three devices say 'connection timeout'. Resetting them either physically (reset button) or through the Airport Utility using an ethernet link (in the case of time capsule and airport express) make no difference.
I wish I never updated the iPhone iOS and previously put of updating it for the previous few updates because the tethering worked so well on it, therefore I would want to downgrade it to iOS 4.2.5/4.2.6 again (need to locate and re-download those two versions and accuire instructions - if anyone could help, would be very appreciated?).
Now this is the strange thing:- Although I cannot connect to the Apple Time Capsule, Apple Airport Express and iPhone Personal Hotspot (getting the 'connection timeout' error all the time), I am however able to connect to a non-Apple device Vodaphone 3G WiFi point. The Vodaphone 3G device is a 3G USB mobile dongle that is plugged into it's own dedicated small WiFi base station.
I am at a loss as to what is going on here?

I can totally understand your frustration and it ***** that you are having to experience it. I do know that for me yesterday the Apple.com page was down all day. I could connect to any other website, but not the Apple.com website. However, that doesn't solve your issue.
I would advise you to break down your issue by each component and then work to solving them one at a time. I would first look into getting your machine connected to the internet first. If you have no way of getting it connected to the internet without using the other devices you mentioned at your home network, then go to a friends or to a place where you can test your machine's ability to stay connected to the internet through a different network. This will allow you to rule out the posibility that the issue is isolated to your machine/OS. If you find yourself still having connectivity issues, then work on solving them before introducing your other devices to the problem.
Once and if you solve the issue with your machine I would then start looking into your home network and the devices you are using (i.e. Time Capsule, Airport, etc.) and be sure to check to see if you have the latest updates for them: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#airport
For my own network, I use a modem (ARRIS) and router (Linksys E2000) and have had no issues with any of my machines (running Lion) or any of my other devices (i.e. iPhones, iPods, printers, etc.) connecting to my Wi-Fi network. I do however have family and friends that are using the same devices as you, but are not having any issues. However, none of them are using their iPhone's HotSpot and neither myself or anyone else has updated to iOS 4.3.5.
I truly wish I could be me more of help, but the truth of the matter is when dealing with networks that deal with many different devices there are just so many variables that can be at play in regards to the issue, that you truly just have to take it one step at a time until you isolate the source of the issue at hand.

  • How do I connect non Apple devices to my Imac?

I am new to the mac world. I just bought an imac all in one. I have always used a PC since computers came out. I am having some trouble learning the things I can do with my imac. Since I am finding mac is more of an Apple only device and trying to make my mac do what my PC could do is getting me frustrated. To replace all my tv's, blu rays, Epad, Xbox 360 and phones to Apple products would cost me 10k or more. At this point that is not an option.
What I want to do is a whole home connection to my imac. This will include my blu rays, Epad (Droid based), smart phones (Droid based), xbox 360 and WII. I saw a write up on Eyeconnect but I don't know if my systems are UPnP AV media or not. I know that they are DLNA devices. I am pretty sure that my blu rays are UPnP because I saw Sony talk about Eyeconnect on one of their sites. They also talked about Serviio. When I went to the Apple store most of the people there didn't know what I was talking about. They went in the back and check with an expert there and he said to use Auze. I down loaded that software but don't know how to use it. No user guide on what to do with it.
So here is my question to you. What system would work the best to connect all of my devices to my imac? Is it Eyeconnect, Serviio, Auze or even Twonky? Is there something else that I didn't list that would work better than the ones I listed? Your help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Here's another option assuming you have USB 3.0 like my iMac 2012.
    http://www.datoptic.com/usb3-usb2-to-esata-with-port-multiplier.html
simple esata cable to your esata hub with port multiplier and instant box of disks all accessible on a mac and simple USB ejection. Just a low cost idea that works for me.

  • My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data.

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

The iPhone4 shows the songs are not supported and on the Windows Machine the songs do not play completely. Can anyone advice what could have gone wrong ?
