I only experience this problem when connecting using any BEx component, but, I can successfully connect to the SAP BW system from SAP gui.
Additionally, I have the service 'sapdp02' defined in the services file, both on the workstation and the server.
What could be wrong or missing in my configuration?

Joao.

hi Joao,
check if oss note 447882 relevant
you may ask basis for help
Symptom
You want to access the customer system using the BEx Analyzer. The connenction fails:The system displays the error RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION.In the detail screen, the system displays message "Partner not reached" (host 192.168.4.2, service sapgw 00).
Other terms
SAP Gateway, RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION, partner not reached
Reason and Prerequisites
The SAP gateway host is deactivated or the TCP/IP port 33xx (where xx corresponds to the system number) is not open.
Solution
Issue statement ping <IP address> (In this example:192.168.4.2) No reply: Boot SAP Gateway host required.
An answer:Check whether the TCP/IP port 33xx is open (where xx corresponds to the system number) and start the SAP gateway.
The TCP/IP port is also partially defined in the services file as an sapgw<SID> or sapgwxx entry (where xx corresponds to the system number). The services file is in the Windows directory or in WinNT/System32/drivers/etc.

to make this work you have to make entry in the SLD of your server

  • Unable to connect to SAP gateway to RFC server failed(hostname unknow)

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a new Model(to connect to SAP R/3 server) using the following steps:
    1.Selecting Import Adaptive RFC Model
2.Entering Model name, package, default logical system names
3.Selecting the single server option and giving the details of the SAP R/3 server.
When I try to connect it gives me the following error :
-Connect from SAP gateway to RFC server failed.
    Also it mentions :
    <b>"ERROR hostname 'sapR3' unknown "</b>
Where <b>sapR3</b> is the entry corresponding to the IP address in the host file.
Further I am able to establish a telnet session using the same hostname in command prompt.
I have searched the Internet for solutions, but I haven't found any yet.Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Kshitij Agrawal

    Hi,
Please check if the hostname that you specify in the "Reimport Model" GUI of NWDS matches with the application server name specified in your R/3 system. The same can be verified by following three simple steps:
    1) Open the SAP LogOn.
    2) Choose the server to which you wanted to connect and right click on it to get the "properties" in the context menu.
    3) Look for the value entered in the field "Application Server" in the properties window.
    Hope this helps.

  • Remote Connection from SAP to MS-SQL server

    Hello Experts,
We have been following 2 options so far and we have come across some issues
The first Option is to call a stored procedure (this is our preferred method) which does the data transfer for us
We have been able to test this scenario successfully from SQL Server side
However, while calling the stored proc via native SQL from ABAP we have come across an issue which is due to SQL 2005 changes (Schema implementation and difference in the security context)
While calling the stored procedure from the ABAP Code we have an error
The program short dumps with runtime error DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR, exception CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR. The database error code is 15274, and the error text is
"Access to the remote server     is denied because the current security context is not trusted."
This issue is new after the SQL Server 2005.
We are trying to resolve that.
Secondly we have been trying the DBCON option as well as per OSS Note 323151
We have a few things thatu2019s impacting our scenario:
The remote servers are in a different domain
The remote servers are located  in DIZ
Remote server is a named instance
Remote server has been configured with a different port than standard (1565) u2013 All Connection strings will need port in there
The Database name starts with a numeric value
Due a combination of factors as mentioned above the standard approach does not work
Have any of you used this approach while connecting from SAP to MS-SQL server? Do you know of any successful methods to connect to SQL using ABAP (or not) from SAP.
    Thanks in advance,

    Yes,
    DBConnect & UDConnect.
    Works like a charm.
We write data into a MS-SQL database via DBConnect & an ABAP program (using open sql).

  • Diagnostics / Connectivity from virtual appliance to vcenter Server FAILED

    Hi,
I'm currently tryining to setup the Support Assistant (VSA) in our vSphere 5.1 environment. Registration to the vCenter was successful after some initial troubles. But when wunning thie VSA Diagnostics it fails at one point:
Connectivity from virtual appliance to vcenter Server FAILED
But on the VSA's console I can connect to the vCenter
    - name resoluttion is OK
    - vCenter is pingable
    - wget https://vcenter.domain.local   brings up an error regarding the vCenter's certificate:
ERROR: cannot verify vcenter.domain.local's certificate, issued by `/O=VMware, Inc./OU=vCenterServer_2012.10.22_111554/CN=vcenter.domain.local/emailAddress=[email protected]': Unable to locally verify the issuer's authority.
ERROR: certificate common name `VMware default certificate' doesn't match requested host name `vcenter.domain.local'.
    - wget https://vcenter.domain.local --no-check-certificate   works. Turns the errors above into warnings but connects and downloads the index.html.
What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated!

Opened a SR with VMware and they've provided me with an unofficial updated version of the Support Assistant. This one fixed the failing connection to our vCenter. Now diagnostics fails on trying to connect to VMware, its working though. It's confirmed by VMware that this is just a cosmetic issue.

    Hello!
I want to create a RFC connection.
In the "Connection and Transport"-Tab I fill out the fields: Target Host, System Number and System ID.

  • Connect to SAP gateway failed - internal error

Hi, I've developed a simple .NET application that connects to a SAP system and makes a function call using a SAP Connector Proxy object. Everything works fine in my workstation, but deployment doesn't. I'm also deploying the following libraries: SAP.Connector.dll, SAP.Connector.Rfc.dll and librfc32.dll.
The fact is that deployment works fine in some servers, but not in others. I've checked that .NET Framework is installed (both versions, 1.1 and 2.0). I've checked the "WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services" file. What else should I check? Any idea? Every suggestion would be appreciated.
The error message is the following:
Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM GWHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, SYSNR=00 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host ERROR internal error TIME Mon Nov 13 16:23:08 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 37 RC -1 COUNTER 1
    And the connection string:
    CLIENT=100 USER=****** PASSWD=****** LANG=EN ASHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx SYSNR=0
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Daniel,
Can you connect to the particular system by using SAPGUI ?
if yes, then your librfc32 file is working fine.
    NCo internally consumes it's functions.
    Other points to check are
1> service name as appears from within the r/3 system [transaction : smgw]
2> NCo 2.0 uses .net 1.1 & nCo 2.5 uses .net 2.0, do you have both versions running parallely ?
3> gateway errors are infrastructure issues, please verify your firewall settings for the relevant protocols : http / https & also sap ports 3300 onwards.
the services file you have checked will list the ports that need to be opened on the firewall [in the case of multi - domain applications]
4> check in your 'hosts' file [same directory as your 'services' file]
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    space.
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    For example:
         102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
          38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host
    with respect,
    amit

so i guess its not successful. when i look at rz70 of a server where this works correctly its not succsessful either
if it is success then technical system name will be in sld
to restart sld --> /sld --> administration --> stop server --> restart server
or check in VA --> SLD data supplier value --> Runtime
I checked this and i do not see aa problem. you have configuration status as valid and send reult as Success
Services file is locted on OS level of R3 system--> Goto --> Start --> Run -> (type)Drivers(enter) --> etc -> (here is services file)
check ur r/3 server entry is there or not,
I have the followng in the service file for the server
    sapmsDMI 3610/tcp
    if not add it

    Hi Experts,
when ilook at the remote gateway properties in SMGW this is what i see on the R/3 server. ive looked at my other system which i can connect to and there isnt much of a difference in the parameters. How can test this to see if it works?

I know it has something to do with the entries in the services and hosts files of the portal server. Please guide me on links from help.sap.com on this.

    HI Dagfinn,
    Very helpful answer. Thanks.
    When you say :
    4. Normally, the sap system should be registered in DNS, and you should need any. --- How do I check if my SAP system is registerd in the DNS? Is there some detail explaination on this.
    Also,
    I have these observations :
    1. I checked the services file on my portal server and the entry for "sapgw00 3300/tcp" is maintained there.
    2. There is no entry of my SAP ECC box in the  hosts file of my portal server.
    3. The group PUBLIC is not maintained in SMLG transaction.
    4. I am using R3ip only in my code, there is no other place that this "R3ip" is being used.
    Following is my code :

Also.  If I check my bridge connections it shows this:
    [DOWN] JCO/RFC server threads
Is that related to the other problem?
