Connect from VC to SR on a local system
Hi all,
I experience problem connecting my VC to my local Service Registry.
I use the CE 7.1 SP04 and I want to use services from my local service registry within the VC.
I have some services published in the registry, but every time I try to search for them through the search option of the VC, it can't find them.
I have configured the UDDI_DESTINATION and CLASSIFICATION_DESTINATION wsdls acoording to the help pages for the local registry.
Has someone had the same problem?
Thanks in advance!
Best regsrds,
Vera
Hi Vera,
In order to work with the Service Registry, you need to define at least one Physical System from your service registry as ABAP System through the NWA and also to define the Proxy Settings.
You can find the example at the following document:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/605303db-9d5f-2a10-e0a2-c0e1c8af9e96
Best Regards,
Luba

How to connect from sql*plus to Sql Server
Dear Profs.
How I can connect from sql*plus v8 on my local pc(Win XP) to Sql Server Express 2005 light weight installed in same local pc ?
Thanks,
Ahmed.You'll need to setup heterogeneous services. This is done by creating an init file for the SQL Server db with %ORACLE_HOME%\hs\admin that refers to a DSN for the Sql Server Database. The listener would also need an entry for the SQL Server DB DSN. After that you would create a dblink to SQL Server in your Oracle instance and then could query across the dblink.

Apex link not able to connect from local machine.
Hi,
Here is the scenario.
I have installed oracle apex 3.2 in my vmware linux machine.
I'm able to connect the link (http://b03apex.domain.com) from my linux(vmware) box but I'm not able to connect from windows local machine.
I tried to ping the ip, from both the ends are working but not sure why I'm not able to connect from windows local machine.
local windows ip: 192.168.1.2
vmware Linux ip address : 192.168.1.3
Do I need to do add any parameters in the Apache logs to connect from windows local machine.?
Need your suggestion.
Thanks, Muhammed.user9354175 wrote:

Can you ping the VM hostname from your Windows console (instead of IP address)?
Have you tried in your Windows browser the following URL (using IP address of the VM instead of the hostname)?
http://192.168.1.3/
Have you checked that your browser is not configured to use a proxy server?
Have you checked your Windows firewall for allowing tcp web traffic to the virtual machine?
Have you checked for the same on on the virtual machine (firewall will be likely be done using <i>iptables</i>). -
Connect from workstation using local credentials
AD is W2008r2,
recently moved a W2008 WebServer from a PDC to this AD's domain, the local login to the WebServer is still using WebServer local accounts.
How can I still allow users from W7 workstations to use a "net share" using the WebServer's credentials?
What we were doing was:
net use W: \\mxWeb\h 369874125A /user:mxWeb\user0 from workstations to get access ,
but since the switch to new AD that gives errors of
System error 1326 has occurred. Logon Failure: unknown user name or bad password.
I can not find how to allow this to happen in the Local Security Policy settings.
(it would be nice to get samba connections from Linux pc's to work again too, Centos 5 & 6 - samba3.6)
TechNetnet use W: \\mxWeb.blahblah.COM\h 369874125A
/user:mxWeb.blahblah.COM\user0 ?
User0 is a local use on mxWeb.blahblah.COM.
Correct?
try to delete all connection using Net Use * /D first

How do I connect to Time Capsule from a Windows 8.1 machine which is on a Windows domain. I have been able to connect from a Windows 7 machine on a Windows domain to a Time Capsule. Airport utility is not displaying the Time Capsule Win8.1 machine.
I have checked that the firmware has been updated to 7.6.4 . Similalrly the Win8.1 machine has been loaded with the update specified in another discussion.Firstly how are you connecting to the TC.. wireless or ethernet?
Please open a command window and ping it.. ping by name and by IP address.
If ping succeeds at least by IP it should work.
In windows explorer type
\\10.0.1.1 (or whatever the TC ip is.. that is the default).
Having the airport utility for windows loaded can help the process. As it loads bonjour for windows.
7.6.4 firmware on the TC is useless. It works better on 7.6.1
If the ping does not succeed by either name or IP address yet you have internet through the TC, then your network is setup wrongly. You are have firewalls blocking local IP. Take down all the firewalls. -

I tried to install driver on connecting PC, i tried to install printer as Local printer with local port - \\WIN7-32bit\HP PSC 1310 Series\ - and i got access denied, and before i reinstall Windows on 64Bit machine its worked correctly... anyone know how to solve this problem ?
*Edited*
When i connect it on 64 Bit machine printer requesting driver *.inf and not specific file...
i try to install 64bit driver on 32 bit machine in sharing options and they didn't support it...More than likely, you are receiving the access denied error because there may not be a HomeGroup in place.
To handle networks securely with Windows 7, Microsoft took a different approach. A HomeGroup essentially creates a trust among all the devices in that home group. If a device is not in that homegroup, then that system will essentially be denied access.
Click on Install a printer on a home network to get basic steps to install a printer in a network environment.
Click on HomeGroup: recommended links to get more information about Home Groups, including setting one up.

Problems importing connections from a SAN directory
Is anybody having a problem importing connections from a directory that's on a SAN?
My network is setup so that the Application Data directory is out on a SAN and when SQL Developer opens up the file dialog, current directory is listed as C:\ and entry in the file name field is file://<server>/<path to my stuff>/Application Data/SQL Developer/. This looks fine but when I click on the "Open" button to get the directory listing, an error dialog pops up with the following message:
The directory C:\file:\<server>\<path to my stuff>\Application Data\SQL Developer is not accessible. Please select a different directory.
When I change the current directory to the drive that maps the SAN location, I get the same message only with C: replaced with another drive letter.
If I had to guess, the dialog is not processing the file:// protocol indicator properly before it attempts to get the directory listing. Does anyone have a work around?Other users also had problems with network shares, so you're right that might very well be the cause of your problems.
As workaround, try mapping the settings folder to a local drive. Add this to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=C:\sqldeveloperHope that helps,

SSH and media wiki not connecting from outside of my LAN
I cant seem to connect to ssh or my mediawiki server from outside of my LAN. Ive forwarded all the needed ports and been going over my config all night. I also made sure my router wasn't blocking anything.
-ssh tells me connection denied
-when i go to my http server i can list directorys but as soon as i try to load media wiki i get a 502 error
*these problems do not happen if im connecting from another machine in my local LAN

Hello ahronzombi!
Do you try it with apache web server ? If yes, is there any related information in the apache.log when someone try to connect from out. What's in your http server related config files, vhosts, etc?
Ill try that today. i tried something similar with sshd and looked at the verbose output of the program when trying to connect remotely. it was never touched, like no one tried to connect. i feel like its a network security issue since i can connect locally. but ill check these logs as well -
How do I connect from forms 6i and SQL Plus to Oracle XE?
I have successfully installed Oracle database XE on my work labtop. This machine has already oracle forms,reports,sqlplus installed locally. I have tnsnames.ora file in orant/net80/admin directory. I have created an entry in this tnsnames.ora file copied from the tnsnames.ora file created during the installation of XE in the directory where xe is installed.
I can connect to XE from dos promt by typing sqlplus system/password@xe. But if I go to sqlplus 8.0 (Windows) and try to connect , I get a tnsnames error. Same as when connecting from forms.
Someone please advice. Also If i create an application using Oracle Database Xe
and Oracle forms 6i , Is there any way that I can embedd the database in the forms to distribute as a package.?
Thanks
GeorgeGeorge,
please give us a bit more details:
1) You are on Windows XP SP2, right?
2) please post the result of your tnsping80

Attempting to contact (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1521))
OK (360 msec)3) In which order did you install the oracle software, XE was last, right?
4) Can you still connect using Forms to your other databases? Is everything else still working, just the connect to XE doesn't work?
5) please post your PATH variable:
echo %PATH%
6) please post the XE entry from your tnsnames.ora
7) please post the result of your "normal" tnsping:
tnsping xe
Also If i create an
application using Oracle Database Xe
and Oracle forms 6i , Is there any way that I can
embedd the database in the forms to distribute as a
package.?Sure, XE is meant to be embedded by other solutions. I guess Oracle will have detailed documentation on how to create a package, preinstall the necessary schemas and objects and distribute it together with your forms and reports.

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: ORA-02063: preceding line from OWB_75
Scenario:
I am having difficulty getting ODBC connection between Oracle OWB app with an 11gR2 DB (running on a VirtualBox Linux) and SQL Server 2008 running directly on the host. (Windows 8)
I am trying to take a SQL Server 2008 feed into Oracle Ware house Builder, and think(!) I have read everything and configured it in accordance (but I presume not given 3 days of failed attempts to fix it). I have also read several blogs, hence there might be a few more settings in the configuration files than the formal documentation says, but these have come from blogs that have “Solved” problems for other similar situations.

Rafe.Let us rewrite your ODBC DSN a little bit... Your current odbc.ini looks like:
[ACME_POS]
Driver = FreeTDS
Description = ODBC Connection via FreeTDS
Trace = 1
Servername = 192.168.1.80
Database = dbo
Let us change it a little bit so that we only need one config file - no odbcinst.ini nor freetds.conf file anymore:
[ACME_POS]
Driver =/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
Server = 192.168.1.80
Database
= dbo #### I have some doubts that you have a SQL Server database called dbo - one database that always exists is master - so as a test use master here or get the real database name of the SQL Server database you want to connect
Port = 60801 ## make sure it really is the correct port - best would be to check on the SQL server and then try telnet <ip> <port> if you can connect to the SQL server
TDS_Version = 8.0
QuotedId=YES
Especially the last 2 parameters are mandatory. TDS_Version specifies the TDS Version you have to use to connect to the SQL Server and QuotedID is required for DG4ODBC as it surrounds objevt names by double quotes.
What happens now when you try to connect with for example isql - the ODBC test utility shipped with the ODBC Driver manager?
In addition, could you please do me another favour and check the word size of DG4ODBC and the ODBC Driver Manager as well as the ODBC Driver - just execute:
file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/dg4odbc
file /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
file < the patch to your libodbc.so library>/libodbc.so
and post the output. -

Move VM from one server to another using Local Repositories
There is the following structure:
ovhost-01 with first_repo
ovhost-02 with second_repo
Oracle VM version: 3.1.1
Both first_repo and second_repo are Local Repositories.
On ovhost-01 I have VM named "TestOVM" with status Stopped .
Task:
Move VM from ovhost-01 to ovhost-02 using "Clone or Move" section from VM Manager ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27300_01/E27309/html/vmusg-vm-manage.html#vmusg-vm-move )
Whenever I try VM moving virtual disk stays on the first_repo.
With shared NFS-storage this feature working well.
Question:
Is it possible to move VM from one server to another with Local Repositories ?Neither ovhost-01 nor ovhost-02 have access to each other. It move or copy... the admin server that is connected to the local repository would have to have access to the target repository.
