Connect hpxb31 projector to macbook

I'm tring to use my macbook to running Leopard 10.5.8 to a hp xb31 prjector. The mac sees th projector but the projector does not see the mac.  Any suggestions?

Did you try a cable? The point is you did not provide any information about: what projector, how you are trying to connect, what happens when you try, error messages if any, does an external monitor work, what computer you have, what OS, etc.

  • Difficulty in connecting external projector to Macbook Air

I have an external projector I'm connecting to my Macbook Air (OSX 10.7.2) via mini display port to VGA adapter.  With projector on and ad adapter plugged into the macbook air, I see the screen flash blue, but can't force the external dispaly to be recognized.  Under system preferences, displays, I am hitting detect displays, and still nothing.  I have gotten the plug-n-play capability to work before using the adapter, but even after system reboot, I can't get it to work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi vvarruunn,
In the display system preference pane, click the 'show displays in the menu bar'. This will put a monitor in your menu bar.. Can you see your external monitor listed here?

  • How do i connect to an OHP (Overhead Projector) with MacBook Air?

How do i connect to an OHP (Overhead Projector) with MacBook Air? Is it possible? What leads would I need?
    Thanks.

Good question! The simple answer is, I haven't the foggiest idea. I will be going abroad, so don't know what kind of OHP i will have to use. I have a lead that connects with a tv (HDMI - I think). But am not sure about OHPs.

You really have to mess with the resoluton, espescially the refresh rate, as it varies from projector to projector, monitor to monitor. Even within the same brand! Because so many manufacturers are trying so many different things to become the next cool kid on the block, and the way the formats are being configured that's now part of the game.
That's why so many professionally produced corporate shows hire a dedicated projectionist for the video presentations. Too many bugs in the honey.
Refresh & sesolution are the first things to look at.
Just so you know that colors in PowerPoint PC, and PowerPoint Mac, don't exactly match... go figure.
I forgot to mention another thing, sometimes it's the projector that needs to be tweaked.

  • Projector to macbook air

i want to project a powerpoint presentation from my macbook air through a projector to a screen. What do I need? type of connection? software? video output?software? I have two USB ports only on my air.

If it's a VGA projector you will need a VGA adapter.  Plug into the Air-connect to projector and you're all set.

  • Cannot play the video in powerpoint when connected to projector

i have linked a video into a powerpoint slide... it played perfectly on the screen. but when connected to projector it cannot be played.
i am using a macbook pro with Lion OS.
    Thanks!

I had the same problem today in front of an audience with 300 people (MacbookPro OSX 10.10, Thunderbolt-VGA adapter, PPT 14.4.6).
Here what I figured out so far:
    1. It happens when you have PPT open and connect to beamer afterwards
    2. You can resolve it (in my case) by quitting PPT and launching it WHEN connected to beamer
    3. Yet, make sure Mac does not go into sleep mode or you get a lock-screen in the waiting time. if you do so, you get back to square 1. quit PPT again 2. restart it.
    4. Also.... in one case I had to hit the volume control once to get the sound back even though movie was playing
So in short: Connect to beamer first, then launch PPT
I know it is only a symptom fix but it worked for me

  • Problem connecting to projectors

With all versions of Mac OS X that I can remember, it has been a breeze to connect to projectors. Everytime I connected to one, I got a decent image right away. Sometimes I was able to get a higher resolution after that first successful connection, but even the first setting was acceptable.
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, results are much more erratic. I connected without problem at a recent conference, but most projectors at my workplace give me difficulties even though I connected to the same projectors without a hiccup before Snow Leopard. Usually the projector says "no signal" and it does not matter if I connect before or after turning the projector on (something I never even worried about before).
Today I had to use one of our projectors and the only way I could get it to work was to select mirroring (goodbye the nice Keynote's presenter's screen) with a resolution of 1024x768 at 60 or 70 Hz. Disabling mirroring or changing resolutions or chosing higher frequencies resulted in a "Signal not compatible" message. This is really annoying. I don't remember having done anything with my settings that could cause this.
Anyone else encountered this or has a solution to offer?
    Thanks in advance,
    Denis

Using Keynote run, Snow Leopard puts slideshow and presenter screen on wrong monitors, so i get the presenter on the projector/external monitor. Works like a dream on Leopard with same file, never had a problem with Keynote before. Cannot find a way to set the screens right, application crashes if I move the edit window to presentation and try to run from there. This must be a bug that needs to be fixed - urgent- I have a presentation to do on April 12, bought a Macbook pro to avoid having to carry along my old Imac24 which never ever caused me a problem.

  • Failure to connect to projector

I recently purchased a Phillip picopx pocket projector but my macbook pro is failing to connect or display.
    The current set up is:
Mac book pro> displayport to hdmi converter> Phillips hdmi to micro hdmi (supplied with projector)>back of the projector.
The mac book screen flickers as if it recognizes but doesn't show up on the display settings in system pref.
I have tried using the same cables, adapters and projector on another mac book and it recognizes straight away and projects perfectly with no issues.
I have connected through the same hdmi cables to other external screens with no issues.
I can connect other devices such as media players through the same hdmi cables with no problems.
Restarting both the mac and projector several times has made no difference nor has resetting the projector
Which leads me to think it is to do with the graphics card in my macbook pro i have been in contact with apple care online chat and resetting the NVRAM and SMC made no difference nor did deleting the com.apple.windowserver.plist from Macintosh HD>Library>Preferences then restarting.
    MacBook Pro
13-inch, Mid 2012 (Brought refurbished from apple around 8 months ago)
Processor  2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I'm living and working abroad and wont be returning to the UK until after the warranty has finished.
    UPDATE:
More help from apple care, deleting another folder from mac hd then a restart did not solve the problem. Another suggested test was to try using the guest or another full admin account to see if a program or previous connected device is causing the problem but it made no difference.
Apples last bit of advice is to contact Phillips and talk to there customer care see what they have to say, if everything checks out their end, then they suggest partitioning my mac hd to make space for a new osx install and seeing if the projector can connect through the newly installed os, which would point out if it is a software/firmware issue or incompatible hardware for some reason.
I have spoken to the manufacturer who have said as the projector works on hdmi from other devices they believe it to be problem with the mac and advised talking with apple.
I have since tested the projector on a dell laptop running windows 8 and 17" mac book pro running Mountain Lion, in both instances the projector connects automatically and displays correctly.
However when i tried connecting to another 13" macbook pro running latest mavericks same as my own mac with the same intel graphics, it has the same problem, which leads me to think it is either a problem with mavericks or the Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Maybe it will be fixed in yomesmite?

  • Issue with camera it says "there is no connected camera" in may macbook pro

issue with camera it says "there is no connected camera" in may macbook pro

I got that error from PhotoBooth, no connected camera.
After messing around with all the usual suggestions (reset PRAM, repair permissions, etc.), I tried plugging in an external USB camera (happened to be a ProScope) and - for no apparent reason - the internal iSight camera sprang to life and has been working fine ever since.
Worth a try - any USB camera should do it.

  • How can I connect my early 2008 MacBook Pro to a tv through HDMI?

I was wondering if there is a way to connect my early 2008 MacBook Pro to a tv using an HDMI port. My MacBook Pro has a DVI output. In the past I bought a DVI to VGA adapter and connected it to a TV that had a PC input that took VGA and a 3.5mm audio cable. I was wondering if anybody has found an adapter or cable that takes a DVI and 3.5 mm audio cord and has only an HDMI cord at the other end. I have a new TV that only has HDMI inputs and would like to be able to connect my laptop to it.

Since you have not identified exactly what MBP you have, but mention DVI, I suspect a cable such as this is what you will need.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/380694416929?lpid=82
Understand that 2009 MBPs and earlier do not support audio via DVI or minidisplay port.  You would have to tap the audio output port  with a cable such as this:
    http://http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=691009&Q=&is=REG&A =details
I am not endorsing these cable specifically, these are just examples that represent what connections that are required.
    Ciao.

  • How do connect my late 2008 Macbook to a TV?

I want to connect my late 2008 Macbook aluminum to a tv by HDMI, and i was thinking about getting the "Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support" but it will not support audio for my Mac. Any other way I can connect it to the TV?

If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. But check your TV manual to see if it has audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

  • Help Connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor.  I am not having a lot of luck.
    My machine:
    OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Processor:  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am trying to connect it using the:
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    DVD-D HDMI cable
YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual
    (http://www.ebay.com/itm/150788045871?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m149 7.l2649#ht_16597wt_877)
    Here is what is happening.
    1. I connect the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter + HDMI Cable to Monitor
    2. Main monitor powers up like it is trying to display
    3. Laptop Monitor displays second part of desktop
    4. I can never get the Yamakasi to display a picture
Here is what I have tried:
    1. Different HDMI-D cables
    2. ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    3. Zapping the P-Ram
    4. Powering monitor with laptop closed
    5. Forcing the system to see the second monitor
    The nearest I can figure:
    - The laptop does see the catsleap (it displays resolutions I can set it to)
I am completely stumped, I was hoping someone could advise me.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Hey Kytarx,
I found the winning combination this weekend.
    I tried:
    - Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    - ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    - Monoprice Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter
    My experience:
    - Altona didn't work at all, and their support claimed it would not.
    - Monoprice didn't work to Dual DVI, it did work to HDMI (great price I wish it did)
    - Apple Mini Displayport adapter did work, but would only work with certain USB + Display port combos.
The thing that was tripping me up was that two of the Dual DVI-D cords were bad.  Once I found the working cord, it was easier to find the working adapter.  The experience I did find to be a frustrating / expensive one. However, the Monitor itself is beautiful.
    Hopefully this helps someone else..
    Don

  • How do I connect my mid-2009 Macbook pro to my HDMI television and get sound?

How do I connect my mid-2009 Macbook pro to my HDMI television and get sound?

Use a mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter and a standard HDMI cable to connect the computer to the proper HDMI port on your computer — the one that is paired with the separate RCA audio inputs (see the TV's manual for this information). And connect the headphone port on your MBP to those inputs with a cable that has a 1/8' stereo headphone plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other. You'll also need to select the proper HDMI input in the TV's menu system, and you may have to select the headphone port as the audio output in the Sound pane of System Prefs on the Mac (or it may be selected automatically).
