Can you be a bit more specific about what you're trying to do.
You must have a black AppleTV 2 or 3.  AppleTV 1 doesn't support this.
iPad 1 doesn't support mirroring only Airplay from apps.  iPad 2/3 does support mirroring.
Mirroring is enabled by clicking iPad home button wtice scrolling to leftmost screen, enabling Airplay and then the mirroring slider underneath.

  • HT4437 Can't connect iPad to apple tv

My computer, iPad and apple tv are all connected to the same system and both home sharing and air play have been activated but apple tv is not seeing the computer or iPad and vis versa.  Anyone know why they might not be connecting?

Did you set up home sharing on the Apple TV?  If not, go to settings->computers on Apple TV.  Then choose home sharing and you'll need to enter in the same Apple ID and password set up on your computer/iPad.  Based on your description I'm not sure if you just set up home sharing on your computer and iPad or also on the Apple TV as well.  If you did I'm not sure what could be the issue.  If it's under warrant call support to have you walk through everything.  Hope this helps.

  • Exclusive connection iPad to Apple TV

We use iPads and Apple TVs at my University for presentations.  I find however that a few minutes after I make the connection, it drops out, and I suspect that someone else on the network is accidentally (or otherwise) making the connection to the same Apple TV I am on (we have one per room, named accordingly, and it is very easy to tap on an adjacent name by accident when trying to connect in your room).
Is there a way to lock out other users from the ATV until you deliberately disconnect?  I tried using the Passcode, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
It's always possible that it is simply our WiFi crapping out on me, but I'd like to eliminate the other thing first before I start shouting at our IT department.

No, that wouldn't be possible. If you are able to connect via ethernet that would help to rule out a wifi issue.

You don't connect the iPad to your TV. You use airplay to stream content or mirroring to view your iPad screen wirelessly via your ATV

  • Connecting iPads to an Enterprise Wireless 802.1x (EAP-TLS) Network Using Windows Server 2003 IAS

    Hi there,
I am asked to deploy iPads on an 802.1x EAP-TLS WiFi network. The customer has a Windows Server 2003 IAS server providing RADIUS. There also is a Windows based CA infrastructure in place. This solution is in production and is already being used by other wireless devices. Could someone please highlight the configuration steps for the iPad deployment? The customer whishes to automate the initial deployment and the renewal of the certificates. I have a basic understanding of 802.1x, RADIUS, Certificates etc. in a Windows infrastructure but I am new to enterprise deployment of iPads. There is no MDM tool in place by the way...
I did find a Microsoft article which I think describes what needs to be done: http://blogs.technet.com/b/pki/archive/2012/02/27/ndes-and-ipads.aspx. This article basically states the following steps:
    1. Create a placeholder computer account in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
    2. Configure a Service Principal Name (SPN) for the new computer object.
    3. Enroll a computer certificate passing the FQDN of the placeholder computer object as a Subject Name, using Web Enrollment Pages or Certificates MMC snap-in directly from the computer (Skip step 4 if you are using the Certificates MMC snap-in)
    4. Export the certificate created for the non-domain joined machine and install it.
    5. Associate the newly created certificate to the placeholder AD DS domain computer account manually created through Name Mappings
The article then elaborates on specific steps needed for the iPad because it treats all certificates as user certificates. Can someone confirm this behavior??
    Regards,
    Jeffrey

Use VPP.  Select an MDM.  Read the google doc below.

An Apple TV does now display onto an iMac. It connects wirelessly to transfer content between iTunes on the iMac and the Apple TV.
An Apple TV cannot record TV programs. It does not contain a TV tuner. Essentially an Apple TV is an iPod that uses a TV as its interface.

  • Is there some clear directions to connect a new iPad to Apple TV ?

How do you connect iPad to Apple TV .?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You don't connect it in the sense that you connect to the library on your computer, you send content from the iPad to the Apple TV using AirPlay.
Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPhone 4s, double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.
