Connect ipad to personal hotspot

My iPhone 4S says Personal Hotspot is turned on and has one connection. My iPad (3rd iteration) has my 4S in Wi-Fi -> Choose a Network... but instead of a tick, there's just a swirling busy circle and the iPad stays offline. Both devices running iOS 6. Anyone any ideas?

My iPhone 4 kicks my Ipad 2 off both on iOS6 after a bit of inactivity then I get this same problem.  Most of the time my luck is bad and I cant even connect the two in the first place. /sigh. so buggy.
I also have issues with bluetooth, my iPad can see my phone but my phone cant see the iPad until I accept the pair then it either connects when I pair them or it pops up only for a moment on the phone then disappears.  After this happens I cant connect anything.

I can't link my iPhone 4S to my iPad air. I can't connect to a personal hotspot or Bluetooth link them! Any ideas?
In settings under mobile (cellular) I've turned on mobile data, 3G and data roaming.
Under mobile (cellular) data network APN details are filled in and I have tried reset settings all ready.
What I'd like to do is link the two devices so I can use my phone's 3G on my iPad.
I can't get either device to connect via Bluetooth with each other!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Hollystorm1
Check out the article below to setup your personal hotspot on your iPhone. Check with your carrier to ensure that is a feature that you can do with your iPhone.

  • IPad2 connection to iPhone Personal Hotspot

I have the iPhone4 that i got specifically to connect my iPad the Personal Hotspot feature. But the connection is not stable. As long as i am using my iPad, i don't notice any problems, but if the iPad is not used, when i go back, the connection to the Personal Hotspot is lost, and it takes a restart of the feature on the iPhone before the iPad can discover the WiFi.  Bluetooth connection is better, but still drops and requires restarting/reconnecting the iPad before it can be used.  This is not caused by going out of range of the iPhone WiFi, as i carry the iPad with me the whole time.
An annoyance more than anything.  When connected to a "normal" wireless router, such as in my home, never see this problem.

  • HT204023 How do you view the devices connected to your personal hotspot?

My mac book is connected to my iPhone, and it is the only device I have allowed to connect, but in the menu bar on the iphone it shows that there are two connections to my personal hotspot.

You must do this in iTunes on a computer. Read this for the instructions.

  • HT204023 Is it possible to delete other devices that are connected to your personal hotspot?

When I turn my personal hotspot on I have quite a few people that are already connected to my personal hotspot connecting automatically and I don't want them. Is there a way of resetting it so people don't automatically connect?

    Again: Change the password:
You can change your Wi-Fi password by tapping Settings > Personal Hotspot or Settings > General > Cellular > Personal Hotspot and then tapping the Wi-Fi password.
Your Wi-Fi password must be at least eight characters long and use ASCII/Unicode characters. Use of non-ASCII characters (Japanese, Russian, Chinese, and so on) will prevent other devices from connecting.

  • Connecting an iPad via Personal Hotspot?

I'm considering buying an iPad3. But am baulking at the extra £100 required for the cellular option. I've successfully used my iPhone4 to connect my macbook (via Personal Hotspot) is it possible to do the same with the non-cellular version of the iPad3?
    Thanks

Yes - I've used the personal hotspot from my iPhone to access the internet on my wifi-only iPad.

  • Can't Pair iPhone to iPad using Personal Hotspot

Hello. I have an iPhone3GS and an iPad (WiFi only). I recently updated my iPhone to use the new 4.3 software and see that it now has the "Personal Hotspot" option. I called AT&T and activated the functionality. However, it appears that I can only use the "Hotspot" via bluetooth or USB.
That's OK but I am trying to connect it to my Ipad. I cannot seem to figure out how to pair the iPhone to the iPad. In the Bluetooth screen, neither of them will show the other. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bluetooth is not supported for file transfer
    You can pair to tether.
    You have to use USB

  • Static IP do not work on iPad 3G Personal Hotspot

    Hi!
I have an iPad 3G 3rd generation with a 3G internet subscription and a static IP. I need the static IP on my Mac when I'm connecting it at the Personal Hotspot on the iPad. I need it to access particular services where the access is based on IP.
But the static IP is available only on the iPad, while on my Mac I always receive a dynamic IP, which is always not the same, which is normal for a dynamic IP.
I called my mobile internet provider, but after lots of tryouts they came up with no solution, saying that the problem is in iPad's iOS. I have the last update ofcourse, which now is 6.0.1
Have anyone encounter this problem so far? Does Apple has a statement for this? Can it be solved somehow?
I really need this fixed and don't know how to do it. I hope someone can help me!
    Thanks a lot!
    Bogdan.

Hotspot is a carrier feature, contact your phone carrier to reastablish hotpsot.

  • Not able to connect wifi from personal hotspot

When switch "on" Personal Hotspot on my ipad mini wifi + cellular, I'm not able to connect wifi from my iphone even from other devices. Please advice!!

Reboot your phone. Hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button until the apple logo pops up and if that doesn't work then reset network setting (general>reset) and then another thing is to go to other and add it from there

  • Make airport express 2g connect to iOS personal hotspot?

I am soon gonna use 3G internet connectivity as my primary connection type and I want to be able to connect my airport express 2g to my iphone 5's personal hotspot and extend it.
the reason i want this is cause i want to be able to stream airplay music from my mac and ipad to the router which wont be possible if i directly connect the devices to my iphone.
    any possibility?
    Neerav

infact... let me tell u what my AE is doing at the moment.
it is connected to my ISP's device which is on my building roof. this device is capable of hosting an IP pool. when i put my AE in bridge mode it tends to make my macbook connect directly to the ISP's device. the ip is the one that i get from the ISP. since my ISP's device allows upto 5 computers i can also connect my ipad and phone. i can use airplay this way but as soon as i loose internet connectivity and stop getting an ip from my isp's modem airplay stops, inspite of the fact that macbook is connected to the AE. this is obvious because now my device doesn't have an IP.
i dont know what DHCP only mode does.
RIght now i have it it DHCP and NAT mode. this lets the router have its own dhcp pool even while the device ahead of it capable of having a dhcp pool. it shows as a conflict in Airport utility but when i 'ignore' the problem i get a green  light and internet works fine. there is no pppoe over here. the pppoe is done my by ISP's modem wireleslly to the node wimax base station in my area.
by keeping in the dhcp and nat mode, it is supposed to be a bit slow, but, inturn it allows me to use my LAN based communication within devices and airplay without a glitch.

  • IPad 2 Personal Hotspot Limitation

Any reason even a iPhone 3GS can do Personal Hotspot, while a much more powerful iPad 2 can't? What changes made into the new iPad that allows this?
Looks to me like artifical limitation from Apple, but would love someone else to show me the real issue. Any changes in iOS 6 that could change this?
It makes much more sense for an iPad 3G to have hostspot than an iPhone, from a carrier data plan perspectice. Since iPads cant be used as phone, they usually have plans more related to data consumption, and thats what you want on a hotspot.

Well my iPad 2 did use personal hotspot via my iphone earlier this year which means that apple won't be able to sell 3G iPads for an extra £100 which is obviously why they have taken away personal hotspot access from the iPad 2 which I 100% definitely had this year
You are confused. Your iPad could have connected to the internet via the iPhone's personal hotspot feature. In fact, it still can. The iPad 2, however was never capable of generating a hotspot for other devices to use to connect to the internet.

  • Cannot Browse when Connected to iPhone Personal Hotspot

    Hi there
I don't know for certain that the two events are linked but since I updated Lion on my 11" MBA to 10.7.2 and my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, I cannot browse the web on my MBA using the iPhone as a personal hotspot (cellular data).
I am connecting to my iPhone's network via Bluetooth.  The network provider is O2 and I have a contract which permits tethering.
The Bluetooth network connection appears to complete successfully (see below) but when I try to browse the web, nothing loads.
FWIW, Chrome eventually returns a DNS lookup failure (see below).  Safari just hangs whilst trying to load the requested page - I haven't waited for it to time out (assuming it does).
I have no such problems browsing the web (or downloading emails) on my iPad (1st gen; also running iOS 5) when it is tethered to my iPhone in the same way, the MBA/iPhone connection worked before the updates and browsing is fine when the MBA connected to the 'net via wi-fi.
Any ideas as to how I can resolve this?
    John

I have an update to this problem.
If I first connect to the iPhone's network using my iPad then subsequently connect my MBA to the network (I did this whilst the iPad was still connected to the iPhone), browsing works!
If I then disconnect both devices and reconnect just the MBA, I am back to square one - browsing doesn't work.
I have now posted this question in the Lion community too as I'm starting to think that this is more of a software issue.
