Connect iPad2 to Video Camera

I've search on Google, but have yet to find anything that gives me the answer I'm looking for... What I'm wanting:
I have a Canon Vixia HG20 video camera that I want to use for recording to it's HD, but I want to also connect my iPad2 to is as well so I can get a live video feed from the camera on the iPad2.
I've looked at the camera connection kit, but don't think that's what I need or what will work.  I have a Micro USB for "Component Out" & a 1/8inch "A/V Out" port on the camera.
Have any suggestions?  Thank you!
**My ultimate goal, use the iPad2 to "AIRPLAY" the video feed that's coming into it to my Apple TV's.

Hi
You can import video file with camera oconnection kit. Two limits exist: file name lengh have exactly 8 characters and of course iPad have limitation on video formats.

    • Only if your video camera supports it.  Depending on how your camera works, you may need to add preview software to your Mac to use this feature.
    • Alternatively, your camera may also be able to record directly into your Mac while you are monitoring the Mac's display.
    • If you are using a consumer camcorder that supports HDMI monitoring, a small HDTV might be an simpler solution than your Mac.  For an example of how this is done, see http://youtu.be/GVpSkZD6qE4.
    • The retailer who sold you your video camera may have other suggestions.
    • If you need more professional results, an external preview monitor will offer more capability on compatible cameras.

  • How do I connect an external video camera to my MacBook Pro.

Our school has an indoor graduation ceremony and has a live video feed of the proceedings brodcast from the gymnasium to the overflow seating in the auditorium. I want to connect a video camera that has RCA outputs to my MacBook Pro, have the video show on the screen, mirror it to Apple TV in another room of our school and project the picture onto the auditorium's movie screen. I know that I could just hold up an iPad for two hours, but it would be nice to have a better zoom and a smoother pan than a handheld device. Any ideas of what I would need to connect a video camera with RCA outputs to my MacBook Pro?

    How about this?

  • Re: Satellite L - How to connect my digital video cam?

I have a Canon digital video camera (bought in 2004). I have been using it to transfer movies onto my other Toshiba laptop, but there is no place to plug in on my new laptop. I did use a iEEE1394 but it doesn't work on this one.
    What alternative is there?
Also on turning on the laptop I get a message saying TOSHIBA SERVICE STATION NOT WORKING and proceeds to solve it but nothing happens.
    Any suggestions pls.

    Hey,
What notebook model you have it exactly? Some notebooks dont have firewire port but if your camera has USB port can use this port. As far as I know all notebooks have USB port

You should try to reinstall Service Station, I think this should work. Just download the newest version of Toshiba service station on official Toshiba website and install it:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
But dont forget to remove the old version first before you install the newest one. ;)

  • I have a Mac Mini, and it won't accept connecting my Sony video camera.  So I got a SD mem card reader to unload my movies from.  It worked the first time I used it a few months ago.  This time it says it doesn't recognize the format I am trying to use?

I have all thenecessary updates.  I have switched over from a PC to Mac back in April and have nad nothing but problems adapting.  I don't know why this worked the first time, and put my videos inti imovie, and now it doesn't recognize it at all.  And the Mem card reader does work, because I just put the SD card from my regular camera into it and it downloaded those fine, it just won't take my movies!

Which sony camera? I have a Sony HDR-CX550 right now and have been able to use the SD card as well as connect the camera directly. I also had CX110 that work too. You may want to try to copy the complete top level folder from the SD card to the Hard drive, then try to "import from Camera archive" and select that folder.

  • How do I  connect my digital video camera to my MacBook Pro?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and I would like to do some video work.  The only problem is there is nowhere to put my DV cord.  Any ideas?

    Hey mate!
Odds are you're probably gonna need an Adapter, unless your camera has a USB interface.
Checkout the Apple Online Store for adapters that you can use.

  • Is it possible to connect a wireless video camera to the ipad 2?

I've been sucessfully clearing the clutter from my Dashboard by using the ipad 2.  I have all my music (goodbye satalite radio) and I have gps navigation (goodbye TomTom) and the laptop is no longer used on  the road since the ipad is there.   I would like to put a camera on the pack of my travel trailer to aide in backing and getting around tight spots, but I don't want another small screen on my dash.  is there a camera that I can mount on the back of the trailer that can be wirelessly connected to the Ipad?

    Doug-
I don't believe there is.  If there was, there would also need to be an App that would provide the iPad's interface to the remote camera.  I suggest you search the iTunes App store in case someone has such a system.

  • How can I connect a Sony DCR-PC110 video camera with iMovie and import my videos?

How can I connect my Sony video camera DCR-PC110 with iMovie in order to import my old videos?

    Hi
This Camera has three types of ports.
    - Analog-out
    - USB
    - I.Link = FireWire = IEEE1394 = Digital in/out = DV-terminal
And Your Camera only can send Photos via the USB-connection - NO VIDEO.
So You Must get a FireWire Cable and eventually a ThunderBolt/FireWire converter Cable to get Import to work.
There are no real way around this.

  • MBP not detecting video camera via FireWire 800

    Hey all,
I bought a MacBook Pro late 2008 mainly for video editing. Also, I purchased a 3rd-party FireWire cable because Apple doesn't distribute them here in Singapore (-_-).
I've tried many times to connect my 2 video cameras to my Mac and NONE of them turn up in iMovie. It can't possibly be the cable because the store sells them to many people because Apple doesnt distribute them and none came back complaining it doesn't work. And us Singaporeans will go to lengthy methods to get back our money if products we bought don't work.
My 2 video cameras are both Panasonic and they are
    NV-GS90
    NV-MD10000
The first one is a small one while the second one is a professional camera.
If the cameras can't connect then my whole purpose of purchasing the Mac is defeated. I called Panasonic and they said that it should work fine with the Mac, no drivers needed (Applecare told me to check with them for drivers).
Anyone can provide a solution? T-T

While you were in the store, did you connect any other FireWire devices to your computer to find out whether or not your FireWire port is working? You should certainly do that at the first opportunity, now that you've effectively eliminated a bad cable as a possible cause of your problem.
You may also want to run the Apple Hardware Test that you'll find on one of the discs that were shipped with your MBP. That may be able to identify a problem with your FireWire port.
Apple generally doesn't make or sell cables — there's not enough money in them. Apple leaves that market to third-party vendors, who supply them at lower prices than Apple could or would. And FireWire 800 is far from new: all or most new Macs have had FW800 ports for more than five years now.

  • Which cable do I need to connect my Mac Book Pro to my Panasonic PV-GS150 video camera for transferring video to iMovie?

which cable do I need to connect my Mac Book Pro to my Panasonic PV-GS150 video camera for transferring video to iMovie?

    I totally understand.
Check some things from here, I have 2 and they have been great so far.
Check here, lots of storage and reasonable prices. Also great support, you get to speak to a person
Clean off your on the G5 drive and off you go.
I suggest buying a second drive and setting it up for a back up, Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper (both "bootable" back up) All searchable on the web.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/search/elite+pro
You can talk to a person for REAL advice, Phone: 800.275.4576  Ask about exporting to your G5 and and exporting to your existing OSX, you may only need a small inexpensive drive for this.
Quick delivery and willing to help.
Hope this makes you back up and running :-)
Do get a back up drive, as it is not ""whether my drive will fail, as much as "when my drive fails"
    All the best

  • How do I connect my Sony HD video camera to work as my webcam on a mac-mini

I have just purchased a 2.5GHz 4Mb mini-mac.  I am using a Samsung HD TV and want to use a Sony HD video camera as a webcam.  I have mini-display port, HDMI port and thunderbolt port on the mini-mac.  The video camera has mini HDMI port and I have mini HDMI to HDMI cable.  I also have HDMI to mini-disply connector.  So far I have tried connecting the TV via the HDMI to HDMI cable and the camera via mini HDMI to HDMI/HDMI mini-display convertor to the mini-mac.  The TV is showing the display but the video camera (turned on!) doesn't automatically appear or show in either Finder or as available when I am trying to set up Skype.  Then tried swapping the two around at the mini-mac with the TV now going through the HDMI to mini-display convertor and the camera going to the HDMI port.  Same results as previous set-up.
Can this be made to work? Is there a HDMI to thunderbolt convertor that will work?   Is this plug and play technology or are there more complicated set-up [rocedures?  Any help much appreciated.

  • Video cameras no longer connecting to Final Cut Express

I have two video cameras (Sony TRV-25 and Sony HDV-A1U) which are no longer connecting to Final Cut Express through the firewire (4-pin to 800). I get the "unable to initialize" message. What's weird is that they were working fine just last month.
I'm on a relative new iMac, running 10.6, FCE 4.
I've double and triple-checked the settings on the cameras (i.e., HDV and iLink output settings), and I've selected the appropriate settings in Easy Setup in FCE (1060i60 for the HDV, NTSC-DV for the TRV).
I also reset video devices under the View menu.
Just for kicks, I tried connecting the TRV-25 to my old Mac. I had no problems at all. [The old Mac won't work with the HDV camera, so I didn't bother trying that.]
There are no other firewire devices connected to the Mac. There is an external drive that I use for capturing the video files that is attached through one of the USB ports.
I went and bought another firewire cable just to make sure, but got the same results.
For what it's worth, I also could not get the cameras to be recognized in iMovie.
Is there anything else I should try?
    Thanks!

When I looked in System Profiler and click on the firewire line, it just said something about maximum speed 800 MB per second or whatever. Should it actually have the camera listed there? Is that the right way to check?
The firewire is 4-pin (iLink) to 800, and there are no other devices connected.
