Connect iphone to macbook through hdmi using lihhtning to hdmi connector

I Have a iPhone 5s, a macbook pro 2014, and a lightning port to hdmi connector. I was expecting to plug the connector into my iPhone and to hdmi on my MacBook, but nothing happens when I do. I would like the be able to play videos from my iPhone onto my computer. What am I missing? This should be easier, I am quite disappointed honestly. what am I doing wrong?

The HDMI port on a MacBook Pro does not support video in, only video out. See this article -

You need to go to the App stores and find compatible apps. iOS device do not natively have to ability to transfer info to a computer via BT to a computer.
With iOS 8 you can use AirDrop

My macbook pro no longer connects to my tv through HDMI my computer screen flashes blue but my tv does nothing! could someone please help!!

i have a macbook pro and i have connected it many times to my toshiba tv through my HDMI cable, and for some reason now when i plug it into my laptop the screen flashes blue on my laptop but nothing happens to the tv it just says no signal and i dont know what to do!!

Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot having no display on the external display.
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:

Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.

Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.

Not currently, there may be the option for "tethering" come 3.0 update but no options so far wait for the 3.0 update and then check with your carrier to make sure that they allow tethering as i understand it's a bit of a sore point in the US don't know if it's the same in Canada but i think "rogers" (is that right) allows tethering for capable handsets. Still a bit of a moot point till 3.0 becomes available to consumers

i have one iphone and one computer.
i have formatted my computer again now and installed the iphone again, all works fine.
after connecting the iphone, the itunes says "its using 3 computer connections available out of the 5 possible".
what happens when i reach 5? i cant connect the iphone again?

The problem is that you authorized your Apple ID account to 3 iTunes (When you format your computer, your Apple ID will recognize your new iTunes as the new computer.)
Solution:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Re-Authorize your current iTunes
You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please, i am facing urgent issue while trying to connect to DB remotely through Toad.. Already searched a lot and followed all suggested solutions but without any success..
"instantclient" already downloaded and configured as below :
dll files like "oci.dll,... etc" are here : C:\Oracle\instantclient\instantclient_11_2
Created both tnsnames.ora & listener.ora are here : C:\Oracle\instantclient\network\admin
And did the below in user/system variables :
User Variables :
=========
TNS_ADMIN with value "C:\Oracle\instantclient\network\admin"
System Variables :
===========
TNS_ADMIN with value "C:\Oracle\instantclient\network\admin"
ORACLE_HOME with value "C:\Oracle\instantclient"
Path edited and added this value "C:\Oracle\instantclient\instantclient_11_2"
But i am still facing the below error :
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

MohammedIf the client is on the same machine as the database, then you don't have ORACLE_SID set.
More likely the database is on a different server, you have to specify 'sqlplus sys/pswd@dbname'.
And your db will need to be configured to allow remote sysdba authorization, which is not a good idea from a security perspective.

Can´t connect iphone to macbook air using bluetooth

The bluetooth is on in both devices, they get connected for a few seconds, but then they go "not connected", i´m trying to use airdrop, but nothing i do seems to work.

The iPhone is not designed to pair via Bluetooth with a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. AirDrop requires that Bluetooth be turned on for both devices but they do not pair. More information:

My computer is no longer connecting to the TV. I was using an HDMI and an adapter to my macbook pro 2013. It was working perfectly fine eariler today but then stopped working. I tested it on another mac and it did not work as well. The HDMI is alright since we tested it on the PS3 answers please?

Wow... I found this in another thread from the user DocBlueDog, I did this and it worked.
Looks like Apple's latest update screwed up a lot of iPod owners... that's horrible.

Just got off the phone with amazing tech support guy at www.ipodresq.com -
He talked me through this without having to send in my ipod. AMAZING.
(This is a second hand description. Evaluate it and try it at your own risk).
So disconnet your ipod. Quit Itunes.
Go to your utilities folder and look for ipod updater.
Inside you'll see a folder IPOD SOFTWARE UPDATER and DISK UTILITY.
Open DISK UTILITY AND the most recent updater IPOD UPDATER 2006-01-10.
Reset your ipod by holding down the menu key and the center key together until an apple logo appears. Plug in your ipod.
Ideally you will see it in disk utilities. In the ipod updater go ahead and hit RESTORE. Yes this will wipe your ipod of all data but hopefully most of it is in itunes or on your computer.
When updater is done HIT CANCEL and then quit updater and quit disk utilities. It should be on your desktop.
Just to be safe disconnect your ipod and reconnect it. (superstition).
Launch itunes. It may attempt to update your entire itunes library. Mine said there was not enough room so I just hit cancel.
Then I couldn't drag anything to the ipod because the ipod options were set to automatically update and I had to change it to manually update. Now I am relouding my librarys to my ipod which is working with my computer again.
WHY I should have to deal with calling apple and being told my ipod needed to be sent in to be repaired is beyond me. Love this companies products but wish they would step up more on support.

Basic question - trouble connecting iphone to macbook pro

Hi team,
I have a fairly basic one for you all. I have recently purchased a macbook pro, previously had an ibook G4.
I am connecting my iphone to the new computer and want to sync it to this machine. It is advising that once synced, all info from the old laptop will be cleared and new info added. All music, photos etc are already on the new comp so thats ok but my concern is losing my contacts..
Can anyone tell me if this is the case? I have my iphone synced with outlook contacts and i would assume they will stay on the device but what about original phone contacts including those saved to the sim?
Help appreciated!

Apple really should give more options in these menus. I've had some "hold your breath and click" moments when using my iPod Touch as well.

Connecting HDTV to Macbook Pro to use as second display

I connected an HDTV to my macbook pro using hdmi cable. Is there a way to turn off Mirroring, it doesn't seem to be giving me the option in the system preferences. Do I need to connect it with VGA cable instead to get the "Non" mirroring option. I want to use it as a second display, not a mirroring display.

System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement > uncheck Mirror Displays
