Connect iPod to a new Vista PC

I have got a 5th gen video iPod with over 4'000 songs on, i have had to change my PC due to a lightening storm which blew up my PC, i have tried to follow the on-line instructions to transfer my songs onto my new Vista PC but it keeps telling me the iPod is connected to another iTunes library, i can't change this as the other PC blew up?
Any Help??

  • ITunes stop working when connecting ipod 4th generation on Vista

When connecting ipod 4th generation to a computer running Vista Ultimate, ITunes (version 8) closes. Windows provide the following message - iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Thanks!

i have the same issue... but i found a workaround.. i tried 3 diff OS's . didnt change the problem. To Add apps or music to ur Ipod... simply DISCONNECT the Ipod from the PC then add files/folders to library. Then connect the ipod back to PC and sync. it has no problem adding the files that way (at least in my case) I hope this helps... Good Luck =)

  • Connecting ipod classic to new iPad (4th generation)?

Which adapter connects older ipod classic to new iPad (4th generation)?

The "connection" for the iPod needs to go through iTunes on a computer.  You cannot connect your iPod directly to an iPad.
So (for example), if your intent is to transfer songs from iPad to iPod, you need to use the copy of the songs that are on the computer and use iTunes to sync them to the iPod.  If you can't do that because you bought the songs on the iPad from the iTunes Store, you can use the Purchased screen in iTunes (on the computer) to re-download them (at no cost) into your iTunes library.  The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, to the right, under QUICK LINKS.
You can then sync those songs to the iPod.

  • Problems connecting iPod touch to windows vista ad-hoc connection

    Hi,
This problem has been troubling me since i got my iPod Touch(2nd Gen)
I do not have a wi-fi router, rather i make a ad-hoc connection on my laptop(vista) and share the internet with this wireless ad-hoc connection. I then turn on the wifi on my ipod, which obidiently detects the ad-hoc connection, and after entering the password(WEP) connects to the network(i even get that signal bar indicator on the ipod). But when i try to open a website,it says "Safari cannot open the webpage as it is not connected to the internet". This is really frustrating. I've searched like a zillion places but not able to find the solution to the problem.
All the setting are automatic(DHCP) which includes my wired internet, my wireless network and my ipod settings.
    Plz help guyz.
    Thanks,
    Aditya

  • Connecting iPod Shuffle to Windows Vista RTM

Dear all, I'm having problems connection my great iPod Shuffle to my newly installed Windows Vista RTM.
When I connect the iPod it's is shown as a Device. But I cannot copy any files to the device. It "hangs" for a few minutes before it stops with an error message. "Could not actualize to device. Unknown Error (-50).
Any ideas what this could be? Or is iTunes just NOT "Vista Ready" yet?
    Thanks
    Simon

    1) Check and see if it will sync under XP compatibility mode (right click the program, not the shortcut> click properties, there will be a compatibility tab). A popup may nag you about changing the compatibility, just ignore it for the time being.
    2) Check your USB hardware drivers to have them up to date. Vista is one of the weirdest OS's I've been around lately that uses older (read: not native or "updated") drivers and messes up on them...
    3) The iPod service might be misbehaving. You can restart it by going to start> right click my computer>
manage> services and applications> services> click iPod service> click restart service.
    4) NT OS's (including Vista) tend to be "closed oriented" on bidirectional hardware access, so make sure you can connect to other devices as well.
So much for the rumored iTunes update with the "colored" shuffles... I guess that's for later...

  • Connecting iPod Classic to New PC.

Hi all, I've got a question.
I have the iPod Classic, and I was using iTunes on another laptop (My old one which has now broken) and I wish to install iTunes on to this new Laptop that I have. My concern was, because I have used my iPod classic before and has music that was loaded by a previous computer, will I have to reformat my iPod in order to put music on it from my new laptop?
I ask because in the past when I have charged a neighbours iPod via my PC, its asked me to reformat my Neighbours iPod....
I guess my concern is, I wont be able to load any new music to my iPod if iTunes recognizes that its been used by a previous PC.

I too am interested in doing this. I have switched everything from my PC to a laptop, except the iTunes. I want to make sure I know how to get all my music from the iPod to this laptop for future synching of new music without losing any of the music already on the iPod. Someone please help us. Thanks!

  • Can I sync my iPod to new Vista laptop without loosing all my tunes?

When I attached my i-pod to my new laptop, I got the "sync'ed to another computer message. Is there a way to import my tunes library (drag & drop?) Import from an external drive? I have tried both and the new iTunes does not seem to find the old music files.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
    DELL XPS M1210   Windows Vista

Yes, it can be done. Vista is set up differently. XP was set up as "Administrator" and "My Music". Vista has taken away the "My" and uses "Owner", etc. Anyway, if by connecting your iPod to the new computer it completely synced it and your iPod is empty...there really is no easy way to get it back other than starting over. If iTunes lists your music but says it can't be found...all you need to do is reassociate every song with the new path. For example: C:/Users/Owner/Music and then whatever folder you may have it in.
    Hope this helps some?

  • I am trying to put the music from my ipod onto my new computer. After installing itunes and connecting my ipod touch a message comes up saying that my ipod is already synced with another library. What can I do to sync it with a new library?

I recently got a new computer and got rid of my old one. I am trying to put the music from my ipod touch onto my new computer but keep getting a message saying that my ipod is already synced with a library and cannot be synced with more than one. How do I access that library on my new computer and if I can't are their other ways for me to put the music on my ipod into my new computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

I have iTunes on my iPad. I have a new iPod nano. How do I connect iPod to iPad to download iTunes and music library?

    Hi Divine Inspiration,
You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

I just restored my ipod as a new ipod. It will not let me sign in with my apple ID and says that it has a problem connecting with the server, even though I am already connected to the wifi.

Yes, of course.   Did you set up with your Apple ID?
Reset the iPad to factory and set it up with your Apple ID and password.   You can still sync different apps, music and other stuff onto the iPad,  the devices need not mirror each other.
I have an old wifi iPad, an iPod touch and a new iPad mini with cellular.   All on the same Apple ID and password, different content on some apps, same on others.

  • Installed iTunes on new Vista 'puter now won't reconize iPod Touch

I installed iTunes on my new Vista 'puter and it wont reconize my iPod Touch, it does reconize my 3rd, 5th and clasic iPods but not the touch. it is reconized by windows but not iTunes

After searching the internet for hours, due to having the same problem I finally found a solution
    1) plug in the ipod and go to START then RUN and type in devmgmt.msc
    2) the device manager should come up, then go to imaging devices(Has that sort of name i dont remember its exact name) and hit the plus and it should say Apple Ipod.
    3) Right click and select Update drivers.
4)Select "Update from a specific location" and then hit browse
    5) then select C\program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    6) hit ok and it should have worked.
    thank to Abnormality
