first problem. when i connected laptop to toshiba led tv via hdmi cable laptop screen went white.is there a connectivity issue.
second problem. how can i find out resources to use the laptop effectively.basically how to use the function keys etc?

Macbook pro screen blinks after connecting it to LED Cinema Display

Hello, just bought a 27 LED Cinema Display to connect my macbook pro 17 (early 2009).
Everything fine until today. After disconnecting my laptop to the display the screen of laptop blinks.
Never had this problem.
I would appreciate any help.

Of course you do — we all need to be sure our machines will keep working properly. Unfortunately, there's never any certainty about that, even if one's machine is working perfectly right now. But if it's any consolation, I've seen nothing posted in these forums to indicate that the blinks commonly foreshadow anything worse, so I think you can be reasonably confident that your machine isn't at the start of a predictable course of deterioration.

Trouble connecting laptop to HDTV

i currently have a 12in macbook pro and im trying to connect to my new LG led tv. I have a rocketfish HDMI port and HDMI cable connected to the tv but the display wont carry over the tv just says no display connected. the laptop knows its connected because i get the little triangle sqaure docking symbol in the upper left and it detects the LG tv but still will not work anyone have this same issue?

Connect Laptop to Sun 5500

Hello,
I am new to Sun hardware, but have spent many many hours using the Solaris O/S. I have recently been asked to set up a lab for my team and was given a Sun 5500 as my first project. They have given me complete control to do whatever I want with it, but I am having trouble just getting started. This server has not been touched in quite some time and has no console attached to it. I believe this is called a "headless" server from what I've been reading. It does have the keyboard and mouse attached, though.
Can anyone advise me on how to get a display up so that I can begin looking at this server?
I would really like to just be able to connect my laptop to the server but have not been able to find much information on how to do this. I keep finding articles that explain how to connect the serial A db25 port from the clock board to a serial port on the laptop, but I have no serial port on my laptop.
I started looking up part numbers found on the server's cards and figured out that I have a Sun/LSI graphics card with a female 13w3 port on it.
If the laptop is not an option and I can actually round up a spare VGA monitor that works, can I get away with buying a male 13w3 to female db15 vga adapter? If so, can I use basically any VGA monitor?
There is a Sun 6500 beside this one which has no console either, but does have what looks like a female db25 to rj45 adapter sitting in the rack. Would this be another option somehow?

If you do have a graphics card in the server then you can use that. However, it would not be my first option as it is much easier and nicer to be able to use the console port. This way you can if you wish connect it to a terminal server and have access to the console port anywhere on the network.
With regard to how you connect to the server via serial port A. There is a good section here on that:

As a side note, if the server has not been used in a while I would highly recommend that when you do get connected to it that you do the following.
1. Break the server to the ok prompt, if needed.
2. At ok prompt type 'setenv auto-boot? false' (stops the server booting automatically, can be set to false / true)
3. At ok prompt type 'setenv diag-level max' (sets the level of diagnostics normally set to min / max)
4. At the ok prompt type 'setenv diag-switch? true' (sets whether diagnostics are run or not, normally true / false)
Once the above is done you should pass the server through diagnostics for 2 or 3 hours by powering it on using the switch and powering it off using the 'power-off' command from the ok prompt. There are ways to loop diagnostics on the server using the '<shift>+L' key sequence, but it is often nicer to do a complete power off before doing diagnostics.<br /><br />If errors occur you should see then during post or on the LEDs on the server. As well as this you can have a summary of the diagnostics results using the 'show-post-results' command from the ok prompt.<br /><br />After everything is finished and you are happy that the hardware is ok, you can set auto-boot back to true and diag-switch back to false and continue setting up your system with an OS, etc.

Directly connecting laptop to pc

I have a laptop running window 8.1
I have a pc running window server 2012 r2 (without hyper-v)
I am using a straight cable cat 5e (both side 568b)
I checked my pc ethernet card -> it is using realtek family controller RTL8168E
I go to the website, on the features it states -
Crossover Detection & Auto-Correction
q1) Does the crossover detection and auto correction here means auto-mdix
Both the ethernet card duplex and speed are set to Auto
However, the connected speed is only 100Mbps.

Now on the laptop, under the ethernet adaptor settings
I set my ip to be 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0
I set my gateway as 192.168.0.3
On my pc, under the ethernet adaptor settings
I set my ip to be 192.168.0.3 255.255.255.0
i set my gateway as 192.168.02

The connection on the 2 computer remains limited and i not able to ping to one another.
What could be wrong ? Did I miss out anything. I have also tried leaving the gateway empty, but result is still the same.

I went to brought a crosscable today and it doesnt work.
So I went ahead to set file sharing and discovery on both nodes and it still doesn't work.
The lan port led lights are blinking but the network is still unidentified.
I then went to change the cable from cross to the straight one that i use yesterday and it works!

So i went to take the crosscable to connect to my RT-AC56U router's lan port, there is no led light at all on both the laptop and the router.
If the cross cable is faulty, there shouldn't be led light when i connect from the laptop to pc. But how come there isn't any light when i use it to connect the laptop to router ?
Can i use the crosscable to connect a laptop to a home-base router (with built in switch) ?

Printer 'offline' when actually not on wireless connection laptop

I have an Officejet Pro L7590, connected via a wired connection to my Linksys router.
My laptop runs Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium and is wireless connected to my router.
When I double-click the printer in 'Devices and Printers'. It shows 'printer offline'
When I print a document it goes to the queue, but doesn't printer.
I have already tried the following:
. re-install the printer
. install the printer as local printer, with as port the IP address of the printer
. install the printer as networkprinter
. run the Diagnostic tools provided by HP
But still the same problem.
When I connect my laptop via a wired connection to my router (without changing anything to me printer settings) the printer is 'online' and works fine.
How can I make the printer work when my laptop has a wireless connection?

System 2 - Laptop, connected to the router+modem with wi-fi, mostly uses DHCP

I tried to do this by doing the following on my laptop.
start -> run -> \\<ip address of PC>
But I got the error that "Windows cannot connect to the \\<ip address of PC>". When I diagnosed it, it showed that "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (<ip address of PC>) is not
responding".

Please take a try with the following steps:
1. Restart the router;
2. Reconfigure TCP/IP settings, Navigate to :
Start/
Control Panel/ View network status and tasks/
Networking and Internet/Change adapter settings/Local
Area Connection/Properties./Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)/Properties
set both IPv6 and IPv4 to Obtain an IP address automatically, select Obtain DNS servers address automatically, and then click
OK.
3. Run the below command in command prompt with admin rights:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Then try to connect the two machines again.

No audio when connecting iMac to LED TV

I connected my iMac (using a mini display to DVI adapter) to my LED TV (using an HDMI to DVI Digital Video Cable), the picture appears but the only sound there is is that coming out of the iMac. Under system preferences their is only the internal speakers displayed in the output section. Please help!

When you connected the mini-display port to mini-dvi adapter, you lost any audio possible. dvi standard doesn't support audio. If your iMac is a early 2009 or earlier, it doesn't support audio over the mini-displayport. The late 2009 and mid 2010 iMacs support audio over the mini-displayport per this article:
