Connect local server hangs
I have a QNAP-NAS server in a local network through ethernet and airport with afp.
When I try to connect to it, for some reason the connection is not made and the 'wheel' in the lower right corner of the finder window will turn endlessly. The connection button in the finder window becomes inoperative. Often the Finder will hang and cannot be relaunched and a hard reset of the computer seems the only remedy.
Does someone know how to get the system out of its fruitless search for a connection without a shutdown and full restart?

The problem seems to have solved itself after reloading the firmware on the NAS, reformatting the drives and reinstalling the RAID. Although it looked as if MacOSX could not locate the NAS server IP, it never became really clear to me what exactly caused the problem. However, I am content with the fact that it is working now and cross my fingers that it will stay that way.

I am trying to access a share on a Windows 2008 R2 domain controller via a Mac running 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) using SMB.
Example: smb://192.168.101.11/sharename
Once connected, browsing is fine - it's just the connecting that takes a long time.
I have specified port 139 and login name, I have disabled IP6 on the Mac, the Mac and Windows 2008 server are on the same LAN and are wired.
Again, once connected, browsing is fine - it's just the connecting that takes a long time.
Any help would be appreciated.

Connecting to a Windows 2008 stand-alone server outside of the domain (e.g., workgroup) does not have the same problem - the name and password prompt shows immediately. -
Unable to connect local server
Hello,
Since upgrading to Lion and now with Mountain Lion, I lost the ability to connect to my Mac Mini that I use as a local file server.
When I try to connect via Finder I get the message:PS: The "Share Screen" function works just fine!
Via >GO>Connect to Server I get:
Any idea what is missing?

Recently (perhaps since I upgraded to Yosemite), the first time I try access one of my two hard drives through Finder I get two pop-up windows with error "there was a problem connecting to server". When I dismiss the pop-ups, the Finder window appears OK. I then don't get these errors for some time and then I get them again - and always two errors.
It seems the access request goes through NAS which fails ...
"NetAuthSysAgent[11958]: ERROR: AFP_GetServerInfo - connect failed 62"
and "NetAuthSysAgent[11958]: GetStatus: connecting to self not allowed"
but then it gets actioned as a local access. Can anyone think of why NAS gets involved? And mainly how to get rid of it :^).
There is nothing in login items that mounts either of the disks as a server. Is there a way to find out if a local disk is mounted as a server and who caused it?Many thanks, I am impressed by the process :^)

Does the file format differ when you Publish locally to hard drive vs. to the Connect Pro server?
I notice that when I publish locally to my hard drive to review a set of slides, I see a folder full of files. If I click on index.htm within the folder, I can launch the slides.
When I publish to the Adobe Connect Pro server, I merely see a url for the link to the course.
I'm not sure what this url link represents (as far as the file format is concerned):
Has the presentation been converted to different file format than what is published on my local drive? If so, what format is it in?
If the presentation has not been converted, does the directory structured published to my local drive get replicated on the Adobe Connect Pro server, and the url is merely a link to the "starting file " within that folder (say, index.htm)?The published output does not differ between publishing locally and publishing to Connect. The URL on the Connect server does, ultimately, point to the Index.htm or viewer.swf file.

i have a Windows 2008 Server (X64) with SQL 2005 SP3 and some troubels...
The SQL works since some week, this week we installed SQL SP3 and change of the local Admin password.
Yesterday we reboot the Server, now the SQL Server Agent is unable to start!

The local Admin Password was reset to the "original" (after install) one.
Any ideas how to fix the problem?Dear all,
the encryption was NO on all protocols.
Because no additional ideas available, i uninstalled the SQL Server on friday.
At the Re-Install Process i got again an error:

During the installation process of SQL Server 2005, Setup complains it cannot
connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was:
[Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Shared Memory Provider: No process is on the
other end of the pipe .
I have checked that the pipe exists (\\.\pipe\SQLLocal\MyInstance), but
everytime the installer attempts the connecting the pipe is closed by the
server and another is reopened. That's why the Client says there is no
process on the other end of the pipe.
I have re-installed 'everything', tried connections via TCP, but nothing
works.
I have made a small application to connect to the pipe and noticed that
there are 3 instances of the pipe running, one that I am connecting to, and 2
listening pipes. If I write to 'my' pipe SQL server disconnects the pipe and
reopens another too. The difference is that SQL server writes an error
message in the log file. No such luck when the Native client is doing the
same.
What more can I do?

I finaly found the problem to be the certificate used.
I noticed that a certificate was added to the machinekeys just recently.
(in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys)
I renamed it to another name and re-installed sql server.
I noticed that sql server ERRORLOG complained about certificate that it
couldn't load and the generation of a self-generaed certificate (see below)
"2005-12-10 21:01:02.30 Server The server could not load the
certificate it needs to initiate an SSL connection. It returned the following
error: 0x8009030d. Check certificates to make sure they are valid.
2005-12-10 21:01:02.49 Server A self-generated certificate was
successfully loaded for encryption."
Now the installation succeeded

With Windows 2008 it was really a challange to get access to this folder (!!!)
After clearing the folder the ReInstall of SQL Server works fine.
Now the SQL Server & the SQL Server Agent works again.
The problem was anything with encryption, old certs & files.
I don't think that everyone can afford reinstalling SQL server.
I finaly found the problem to be the certificate used.

What happens when Sync "connects to" local server?
While setting up an account, one of the options is "Connect to." There is a drop-down with a default setting of "Firefox Sync Server." I believe the other option is something about setting up your info on a local server, but I can't find anything in the instructions about it.
I have a Western Digital network attached storage drive which looks just like extra drives to all my PCs. Can Firefox Sync save my data on a device attached to my LAN? If so, can I move the target for the existing account or do I have to make a new account?See:

Unable to connect to local server
Folks:
When I tried to access an older Mac running Leopard (10.5.8) from my MacBook Pro running Mavericks (Finder: Go: Connect to Server: LocalServer), I was unable to connect and received a message,
'There was a problem connecting to the server "LocalServer". The server may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
I tried deleting any keychain refrerence to local computer.
I tried deleting the list of recent servers from the Finder.
I tried restarting both my laptop and the local server.
Nothing,
There is a local server icon under the "Shared" section of the sidebar of the Finder browsing window. I can find no way to delete this listing.
I can access the the Mavericks MBP from the old Leopard server via remote login, but I was unable access the old Leopard server from the new Mavericks running MBP.
I finally achiveved access by
1) Turning on SMB sharing for my account on the local server
System Preferences: Sharing: File Sharing: Options: SMB Sharing: MyAccount then storing my password.
2) On my MBP, connecting via smb.
Finder: Go: Connect to Server: [Enter smb://Localserver.local]
It finally worked, BUT … after successfully connecting to the local server, I now have TWO listings for Localserver in my Finder browser window, the live link and the old link which still says "Connecting."
I can't figure out how to get rid of the earlier afp link, OR how to make it work. I would prefer to use AFP as the SMB notation from both computers indicates that the storage of my password is not as secure.
Restaring the computer doesn't help.
I had a similiar problem when I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and I tried many of the same tricks to no avail. That problem seems to have fixed itself.
Anybody have any bright ideas?

I was able to use Server Admin locally on the machine for weeks. Now I can't. Nothing has changed or been altered on the machine during that period.
I can not connect to the server via Server Admin remotely or locally. I can connect via SSH, ARD, etc. and the system is still serving NFS just fine, so it's just the process that handles communication with Server Admin that is non responsive.
Something interesting from the syslog:

These lines repeated apprx. every 30 secs until I bounced the servermgrd. Now, I see that entry whenever I try to connect to the local server via Server Admin.
Now, this system is not a LDAP server, but I understand OSXS still uses LDAP for local directory info... I've tried restarting the related directory services as well, but still no joy.
It looks like my only recourse is a reboot, which is really not a great option for a dedicated file server. Am I the only one who has ever encountered this issue of Server Admin eventually losing contact with a server? -

Think I'm getting closer (Lol). I did as you suggested and changed the web url to http://localhost:8888/Documents/projects/whoknew/. As you suggested I moved the local site to the Documents folder under the sub-folder projects. It is connecting to the server, but now I am getting the requested url cannot be found on the server. Something related to sock(2) because that's not part of your copied info. I'm thinking you've doubled up on sockets and the second socket doesn't exist, meaning you should be connecting to the first socket "mysqld.sock" whether automatic or not.
I've only used GUI tools on purpose, so does this mean you've already got MySQL running and you tried to launch it again manually? Perhaps you already have one instance of a db and you're trying to launch a second instance, and the two can't coexist with a single user local db?
Assuming this is all local, I'd shut down the db service and restart it, out of hand. I've seen similar messages when I set the db to start up on boot, and it didn't finish shutting down when I tried to restart it manually. Usually the GUI won't let me turn it on because it reports it's already running, but in that case it hadn't finished performing what the GUI was reporting.

DTW error when connecting to my local Server
I am trying to use Data Transfer Workbench to upload data to a new company in my local server.. I am only able to connect with our centralized server and not with the local server in my system.. if i try to connect to my local server, it is showing the following error.
Based on the previous threads.....I have checked in the license manager, the server is correct only and the encryption key type is static.
I also tried changing the encryption key to dynamic, then when i login to sap.. it is showing as
when i give Yes... I get the following error.
I am not able to move forward... Kindly suggest any way to solve my issue..

RD Gateway Manager cannot connect to local server
Hi,
I've come across a problem today where I'm unable to connect to our locally hosted RD Gateway server. We have one Server 2012 R2 machine with the Remote Desktop Services installed. The system was setup following the configuration wizard in Remote Desktop
Services section of Server Manager. One of our users has gone to connect to the main remote app hosted by this setup and received an expired certificate error. No problem I thought, checked the certificate on the server and it does indeed expire today. I'll
re-issue a self signed certificate through the RD Gateway Manager and all should be ok. On loading the RD Gateway Manager, clicking Connect to RD Gateway Server and selecting Local Server I get the following error.
"The RD Gateway Manager snap-in console cannot connect to the server "SERVER" because it is not a RD Gateway server."
I've checked that the services for remote desktop are running which they are, and I can connect to the server using standard RDP remote desktop. Any ideas on where to go next to solve this problem?

It seems the issue related to certificate as can’t properly configured. You need to import the certificate and store in local computer/personal store. Please check below article and verify the steps for certificate and other related setting,

Web server hangs after exceeding number of connection

so, after reaching 800 connection as shown on v$session the webserver hangs and we have to restart the webserver again.
