Connect mac air to mac computer

Hi,
I want to connect my mac Air to my Mac desktop. How do I do this. I am logged on using one icloud name but the two machines have different stuff on them. I want them to sync.

It would probably be easier to get a wireless router. Your ISP might even provide one. If you want to set up an ad hoc network to share your desktop computer's internet, this may help.

I have downloaded a movie with subtitle to iMovie. When playing the video, the subtitle does not show up through the entire video. It happens to my Mac Air and Mac Pro.

The subtitle comes and goes in the video.I have tried with my Mac Pro and Mac Air, with the same result. I have downloaded movie with subtitle before and never had this problem. Please advise.

I'm not very knowledgable on this but subtitles are sometimes on a separate track from the main movie. Try opening the downloaded video in Quicktime Player and saving it - you may be asked if you want to "flatten movie". Choose to do this. The resulting movie will probably now work OK. Others may be able to supply more comprehensive instructions.

That depends on what size SSD you get and how many programs and files you store on the internal drive.
Both PS and FC don't take up that much space but the files you will be editing might take up quit a bit of space. I would get the largest SSD, Flash storage, you can afford. You can never have to much hard drive space.

The license to use iPhoto is not transferable. It is included with new Macs, but it cannot be sold, so it will not be on any used Macs. You will not have iMovie or GarageBand either.
You must purchase your own copies of these apps from the App Store.

I am thinking of getting a laptop by mac. I like the prices of the Air but the Pro seems better performance.
However my needs are internet, email, word processing and some photos, pictures etc.
would i still be able to do many good applications on the Air vs the Pro?

The base model current 2013 Air will perform faster and better in general than the base model 13" non-Retina Macbook Pro.
Ive got both of them.
On the Air:
Faster wifi (by far) 802ac
Faster boot and read/ write due to SSD
Much longer battery life due to Haswell upgrade made in June
Crisper sharper screen, better to stare at for long periods
MUCH FEWER parts to go bad,.....also only one moving part, the Fan
No HD to crash from mechanical failure
Packing the AIr around is a dream since is nearly the weight of an Ipad.
Dont get fooled like most do in seeing the super-skinny AIr as less than a full power machine, ....thats always someones first huge mistake when they see one.

Well if your computer needs are light weight and how light the computer is important for you then get the MBA
If on the other hand your needs are more heavy weight and the weight of the computer doesn't matter then get the MBA

Can't install drivers for C7280 on Mac Air Hp says drivers at Apple who says no drivers, see HP.

I can't install the drivers for my printer Photsmart C7280 on my Mac Air running Mac OS X 10.7, Lion. The HP center sends me to Apple Updates which says no drivers available, see HP which repeats the circle.

Lion should include the driver you need but since its not working lets try this:
Let's uninstall with the 'scrubber option' like this:
1. Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller and click Continue
2. Highlight your device on the left pane
3. Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
4. There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
5. Click Continue and let it finish

Finally, download and install the software from here.

I'm trying to uninstall Citrix receiver from my MAC Air but the program won't close. Any ideas?

I have a MAC Air running MAC OS 10.7.3. After downloading Citrix server, I have uninstalled the program but the icon remains in the dock and I can't quit the Citrix receiver on my desktop (it appears to be trying to find a webpage for its server). Trying to reach Citrix for a solution has been unsuccessful. Has anyone else had problem uninstalling this program?

If you have a WiFi network at home, the MBA should easily connect to the Mac mini or vice-versa for anything from file sharing, oprical disc sharing, or even screen sharing. Start in System Preferences > Sharing and turn on the desired services. In that same panel you can choose whether that access is for all users or for specific user accounts on the particular system.
Then go to the other computer and open Finder then look under "shared" and select the computer you want to share. If you have activated screen sharing as well as file sharing you will actually have logon to both shares using the user account and password for the user you specified on the other machine.

Yes I tried this manyfold. But did not work. Reading on, I took Tesserac's advice. Shut down router and computer.
Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,

Connecting Mac Air to TV and sound problems

I have a Mac Air 13, 2011 and have connected it to my Sharp Aquos TX using the Mac HDMI adapter, I get picture on TV and computer but sound only on computer. What do I need to do in the settings?

Select your TV as the output device in System Preferences > Sound > Output tab > click on the TV.
You can also hold OPT as you click on the sound icon in the menubar to select the output device.

OK ... I'm going to answer my own question. I checked the box in iTunes PREFS "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" then went back to the DEVICES screen, iPhone summary, then unplugged the iPhone, and then back to iTunes PREFS and re-checked that box, then quit iTunes. Then I plugged the iPhone back into the computer and Voila! iTunes opens and syncs! Why? Who knows?
This did NOT SOLVE the problem of wireless backup ... still not working ... whether iTunes is open or not.
