Connect MBP Retina to Pioneer Receiver no HDMI Audio

I'm connecting my MBP Retina using the HDMI cable to my Pioneer SC-68 receiver. The video works fine and displays great on the TV, but I don't get the option as to selecting the HDMI as an audio sound output. My only two options are Internal Speakers and SC-68 Airplay, which I figure the two linked up over the network by themselves.
I can use Airplay mode, but then I get no video on the screen.
Any ideas? Is Apply blocking the audio on the HDMI or choosing not to support it in favor of their Apple TV?

I'm also having this problem.  I briefly saw the SC-LX86 (EU version of the SC68, lovely Receiver btw) option in my Sound preferences today after installing an SMC update, but my rMBP froze shortly after requiring a hard reset and the option had gone on reboot.  Very frustrating.

  • Fails to connect MBP 2008 to Sony Bravia with HDMI Cabel

Trying to connect our MacBook Pro from year 2008 to our 2013 SONY Bravia by means of "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable", the SONY Bravia will only show the background picture (Milky Way) of our MBP, but NOT the application that we have opened on the MBP.... Happy to receive any hints... Thank you!

Well, I have a regular macbook and one thing I found out is to make sure your tv cable box is off and that just your tv is on.  I know that sounds simple, but I didn't realize this at first!  The other thing I did was go on youtube and found a video of a guy showing exactly how to set it up, settings, connections, etc... It really helped me.  I had to look around a lot to find one that I could understand, but that's how I finally figured it out!

  • How to connect S750 to a Pioneer receiver

My HDTV only has 2 component input. That's why I want to get a Pioneer VSX-050TX receiver to add several more inputs. Since I already have s750 in my computer, I don't want to get another set of speakers.
I'm new to receiver and have no idea how to connect it. What I want to do is that the home theatre and the computer can share the s750. And I can also take advantage of the receiver's decode functions. Thanks!

Most receivers will have 6 analog inputs for 5.1 audio (or 8 for 7.1). You will need two "camcorder connectors" ( http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cg...tem=SP-AVCABLE ) and one "male minijack to male stereo RCA cable ( http://shop.store.yahoo.com/chicagod...autostre2.html ). You can find the second cable much cheaper at RadioShack. Because I don't have 7.1 speakers, I can't tell you what to connect to where, so you'll have to experiment or wait for another poster. You'll plug the minijacks into the soundcard and the RCA ends into the receiver.
You can connect the satellites of the S750 directly to the receiver's amped outputs, using the receiver's amp instead of the GigaWorks's. Plug the subwoofer into the LFE output in your receiver to the subwoofer in on the S750 amp (you may need another minijack to RCA cable), using the GigaWorks's amp for the subwoofer only. Note that many HT subwoofers have their own amp built in and do not use the receiver to amplify them. The LFE out on the receiver is unamplified.

  • No internet connection MBP Retina

All to often I get the message No internet connection on my MacBook Pro Retina (13").
It's connected to the local network but won't reach the internet. (I do get an IP address etc, but the AirPort logo just shows an !
I can reach the internet on other computer, iPhone or iPads so this is just a problem with the MBP.
If re starting the computer a couple of time this sometimes solve the problem when occurred. Today nothing would fix it.
Anyone knows if there's a fix for this?
    Thank you.

So the iPad and iPhone is connecting via the same wifi and going online with no trouble, but the MacBook Pro is not.
Usually when this occurs one resets the modem/router and it establishes a new lease with the ISP, so try this first and reboot the Mac.
Have you tried another browser, user account and different browsers in that account?
Have you tried using a Ethernet cable to the router or modem (power on/off) to see if it's a Wifi issue or not?
Some ISP's are testing iPV6, Mac's have it turned on and if the ISP is testing it this can cause issues, turn it off in your Network preferences and reboot.
If your Mac got compromised by malware it might have been blacklisted, but this is rare but it occurs on Mac's, but it can happen more often if one is running Windows.
    WiFi, Internet problems, possible solutions

  • Can MBP retina drive a 720p through HDMI 1.4

I'm new to the mac world and I have wonder if a MacBook Pro with retina can plugged in a 720p tv with HDMI 1.4 and use as second display

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. The MacBook Pro with Retina display supports 1280x720 resolution through HDMI without any problem, so you can use your TV as an external display. Image will show in the TV just after connecting the HDMI cable and putting your TV in HDMI mode

  • MBP Retina: Poor image quality from hdmi output

I just had to return a Macbook Pro 13" because of this problem. I was using a HP 2311 HDMI monitor. At first, the screen would only show the upper half of the dock. I was on the phone with Apple Care and they suggested I use underscan. It worked, in that it corrected the screen size problem, but the image quality, especially rating to text was ridiculously poor. There was no suggestion available as to how to fix this. Yet, in display it says that the display is optimized for the HP 2011.
I must say I was really surprised about this defect. I was even more surprised that the problem has been around so long without a resolution. There is no doubt that this shakes my confidence in Apple products. Thankfully, my iPad, iPod and Apple TV have always been reliable.

I've now tested with the following cables/adapters between my rMBP -> Dell U2410:
    mDP -> VGA
    mDP -> DVI
    mDP -> HDMI
    HDMI -> HDMI
    HDMI -> DP
None of them work. Some people are reporting *minor* differences when switching from HDMI to DVI, but I think that's mainly psychological persuasion. In my experience nothing helps - fonts are still blurry, bad image quality. I've taken still photos with a Cannon DSLR to compare the pixels - no difference.
Someone also reported on other threads that lowering the Dell U2410's sharpness "solves" the problem, I find this to be untrue and a "fool's solution". Fonts do look sharper, but everything else looks horrible.
My understanding is that this is related to rMBP and/or Mountain Lion external display drivers. Hopefully this can be addressed with a software update. I really hope Apple is aware of this issue (many have filed bug reports).

  • Airport Express connected to optical input on receiver, but no audio

I have a Rotel RSX-1055 receiver. I recently bought a toslink cable to connect my Apple Airport Express to the optical input. The receiver seems to be getting a signal - 44.1 khz scrolls across the display when I play music - but I'm getting no audio.
I'm streaming VBR MP3 files converted from CDs using LAME on a high quality setting. I can't seem to find any reason why this isn't working.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello rjpwp001. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    I suggest trying the following:
o Connect a pair of stereo headphones to the AX's audio port. Does the audio stream play thru the headphones properly? If it does, this should verify the analog audio circuitry is functioning.
o Try a different audio source, like iTunes. While connected to the receiver with the TOSlink cable, try different audio selections from iTunes. Are you getting sound at the receiver now?
o Try a different TOSlink cable. How about now?

  • H330 i3 Processor HDMI Audio

I just purchased the H330 Essential Desktop with the i3 Processor.  I have the unit connected to my Pioneer Receiver through HDMI.  I previously was using a Mac Mini with HDMI and when I played content that was coded for Dolby Digital, etc., the surround speakers would automatically play and show it detected this content.  The H330 is configured properly it appears, but I cannot get this type content to play on the surround speakers.  The speakers are working when I test them for 5.1.  Is there something with the drivers or a setting I am missing?  If this is the case, then I may be needing to return this unit and get my money back.  I love the performance of the system so far -- but I want the full surround sound delivered via HDMI that I had before.
    Thank you,
    Brian

Yes, the MBP 7,1 supports audio via mini-Displayport, so assuming your adapter also supports audio as advertised, it should do what you bought it for.

  • HP Pavilion dv9218tx Notebook PC and HDMI audio problem with Sony TV and Windows 7

Sound does not come through with the HDMI connection and, on investigation, there is no HDMI audio driver/option.
Noting that there seemed to be an issue with windows 7 and HDMI audio which is addressed by updating the BIOS and the connexant sound driver I have done so to no effect.
The Sony TV is recognised as a standard monitor in the devices for graphics but not for audio
Suggestions as to why HDMI does not appear - including as a disabled service - and what to do t get is available?

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver. I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. thanks

How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver? I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. There are 4 HDMI-in ports on the receiver - BD, DVD, DVR/BDR and audio. In my system preferences for sound, the receiver doesn't show up as an output option. Can anyone please advise. (ps, this is my first time posting a question, so I hope I can find your answers!) thanks, JP downunder

For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA  audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver.  Use something like this:

  • What is the best way to connect MBP 13" - (non retina) to HDMI TV input

What is the best way to connect MBP 13" late 2012 - (non retina) to HDMI TV input
...To get Video and Audio? With one cable ...
I'm seeing that the "rocketfish" adapter is not handling the job (from these forums).
I enjoy watching youtube videos, hulu, etc on the big screen through my laptop. The other Windows laptops I'ved had from Sony, HP, Dell, all had HDMI and was easy peasy.
I don't have the patience to buy and return 10 different types of adaters (nor would Best Buy appreciate that)
    Thank you!

  • MBP Retina: Missing HDMI Audio Option

Using my MBP Retina, I've tried connecting my Pioneer home theater receiver using the built-in HDMI port. The video works great, but there is no option in the Sound System Preferences menu to use the HDMI Audio as the main output. What am I missing?

Fixed with 10.8.2............although the first time I plugged the HDMI cable in it didn't work........so I unplugged it and plugged it in again and it did.........it was like it had to learn what a TV was or something.
Still doesn't have any audio controls for the TV though.......which is lame........come on Apple!

  • How to connect iphone to Pioneer receiver

Tryng to connect my iphone to watch videos on our Pioneer Receiver.  Can get sound but no picture using the HDMI cable.  Receiver is a VSX-23TXH and says it is iphone compatible.

    Hi Jgunnoe4333,
First you'll need to restore network defaults on your printer. From the printer front panel:
    1. Press the Wireless button.
    2. Choose the option for Wireless Settings.
    3. Choose the option for Restore Network Defaults.
    4. Choose Yes.
The wireless light should start blinking again.
    Secondly, from your PC:
    1. Make sure your computer is connected to the new network, and if wireless, make sure the network connection is saved and connects automatically.
    2. Click Start>All Programs>HP>Deskjet3050>Printer Setup & Software.
    3. Select the Connect a New Printer Option.
    4. Select Network/Wireless install.
If I have helped in any way, just click the Kudos star on the left. Also, if your issue has been resolved, don't forget to select Accept as Solution

  • How to stop MBP with Retina from logging out when HDMI plugged in?

When I plug in my TV to the new HDMI out port on the MBP +Retina, the screen turns blue (like it used to on my Mac Air), the resolution changes, but then when the sceen comes back I am at the login screen. Not only am I logged out, but all my apps that were open were crashed (not quit).
Anybody experience this? How do I fix it?
    Thanks!
    Daniel

You're not alone.  For me ther'es no HDMI in use, it happens when it's not connected to anything.  At first I had thought it was tied into VLC since it happened consistently there at first, but for the last week it's been happening anytime, no VLC running.  I'm trying to track it down as well so while I have no resolution yet, at least you know you're not alone.  VERY frustrating since I do a lot of file work and hate it when it does this part way through a 20GB file copy...

  • Graphic glitches MBP retina Late 2012 (HDMI/games)

Hi To everyone!!! First of all, I am new user so I would like to salute all members of the forum. I am looking forward to be part of this community!!
I am new here so I will try to be as clear as I possibly can. My apologies if I not very good explaining these problems. I have experience two issues lately with my graphic cards. I think that they are becoming more often.
First, when I connect my MBP retina to the TV using the HDMI cable to watch something, the connection is lost briefly (1-2 sec), the TV goes black and then it reconnects again by itself. The TV shows the resolution  (samsung TV) and everything goes back to normal. This happens after 3-7min after I connected the MBP. I have tried disabling the sleep mode of the computer (I thought the computer could be trying to suspend itself) but it didn't fix it. Any ideas of what may be causing this????
Second, when I open a game or when I connect to the TV the screen goes off!!! What I mean is that the display shows "static" (I mean like when the analog TVs use to show a black and white fuzz when no signal was detected.) Sometimes it fixes itself and sometimes I need to reboot. Any ideas?????
    Thank you very much!!!
    Best wishes,
    Tony
