Connect MBP to TV?

Hey,
I have a 15" MBP and was wondering how it's possible to connect it to a TV. What cable would I need? I'm in Europe, so need PAL.
Thanks for your help!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Luigi,
try this cable:
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/1034041/wo/sD6LimxJIef92iw7G xf19Kxuvrm/16.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.9.3
It will work on all TVs with composite or S-Video inputs.
Have fun
Marc

...To get Video and Audio? With one cable ...
I'm seeing that the "rocketfish" adapter is not handling the job (from these forums).
I enjoy watching youtube videos, hulu, etc on the big screen through my laptop. The other Windows laptops I'ved had from Sony, HP, Dell, all had HDMI and was easy peasy.
I don't have the patience to buy and return 10 different types of adaters (nor would Best Buy appreciate that)
    Thank you!

  • How I can connect MBP early 2010 with a TV by HDMI

I have a MBP early 2011, with a Firewire 800 conecction, a thunderbolt conecction an 2 USB 2.0 Conex, so how can I connect a hdmi tv with my MBP, because my old DVI cable can´t connect. I don´t know if the miniDVI can connect in some port I have.
    Thank You

True but read beyond the title to his question, says 2011 and a TB port.  I guess it's which one you want to believe...

  • I am trying to connect mbp to tv using mini display port and HDMI cable TVtuned tocorrect port as shows Mac wallpaper (purple star scene) but does not show what is on MBP.  What can I try so that I can see mbp display on TV?

What do I needto do to connect a tv as an external display for my mbp using a mini display port to hdmi cable.  I have tried display without success.  tv is receiving a signal as displays apples default wallpaper when connected but nothing from screen of mbp.

Soundls like it is working. Try dragging a window on the MBP to the edge of the screen and see if it appears on the TV.
There are two ways to set up the TV one is to mirror the MBP display and the other is to be an extension of the MBP's screen.
You change the settings in System Preference->Display

  • How to connect MBP to Philips HD ready TV with DVI-I

I've managed to connect my Macbook Pro (bought Jan 2013) to my Philips HD ready TV (model number 37PF5520D/10) with the following cables:-
    1) Cables 4 ALL Supreme 2M DVI-I Cable / Dual Link 24+5 Pins / Gold Plated / HDTV
    2) Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter cable by Neet® - ( for Unibody MacBook - Pro - Air etc. )
Getting picture no problem - but no sound.
I understand that I need a separate audio cable. I tried a 3.5mm cable from MBP into DVI audio socket on TV - but NO sound.
What cable to I need to be able to get sound along with vision?
    Thanks if you can help,
    Knightonday

You need to set the Audio in on the TV. This is from page 16 of your TV's manual:
Audio Selection: to choose the sound
reproduced on the TV (PC/HD or TV).

  • Problems connecting MBP to TV

I am connecting my MBP to my LG lcd tv via the mini display to VGA cable. the connection and everything works fine. but when i try to watch a movie or tv show on itunes, it will not play on the tv. even if i start out with the itunes window on my mac screen, start playing the movie, then drag it over to the tv screen, as soon as the itunes window reaches the screen, it will stop playing. i know the cable is good, i run sound and lights at my church and i have it connected to our projector every week with no problems and i can play movies and everything, but for some reason it wont work on my tv, anybody know how to fix this?

Dont know about VGI cable but
I know some people when using HDMI cable forget this
Plug it in first switch on TV, so Macbook will reconise it. In System Preferences,Display etc
then select Arrangement, then tick mirror display. then go back and go into Sound, select Output and tick HDMI cable.? This will get your icons onto your TV and Sound

  • Anyone else having trouble connecting MBP with thunderbolt port (TBp) and 27"iMac with mini display port (MDp)

I have a 27" Imac.i7 with mini displayport and MBP13 i5 with thunderbolt port. Some time ago I tried to connect my old MBP with miniDP  to The 27"iMac I Failed so did the apple centre they refunded cable costs and said I'd be contacted by Cupertino. That was 9 months ago, now replaced MBP with 13 inch(**** I can use my iMac as display!). Does not work phoned Fast Lane very helpful guy called JIM emailed me some software/firmware update links.  Still no display linking. One of the links was for a couple of updates for a TBp equiped 27" iMac mine is only MDp equiped. Failing to find any MDp updates in apple support.  Anyone have any Ideas!  My lad has a later 27"i5 he uses Xbox 360 no problem on his but it wont look at my MBP.
Beginning to feel like some of the kit that went with a fully loaded 5500 worked eventually. Computer and FM radio, Photography kit fine, video capture audio capture forget it.  Too many crashes and resets made it impractical.

  • Can't connect MBP to LCD projector using DVI-TO-VGA adapter

I am trying to connect my MacBookPro to a Hitachi CP-X885 projector, which I normally connect an IBM Thinkpad to at 800x600 or 1024x768. I also use my MBP and the VGA adapter to connect to other LCD projectors and monitors (so my adapter works, as well as both systems, projector, cables, etc.). Problem is, that when I connect my MBP to the projector (I have to connect it via VGA as there is a 250 foot cable that goes to the front where the rear-projection takes place). When I do the "detect displays" nothing is detected. I also connected directly to the projector using a shorter cable, same thing (doesn't detect it). So, is the projector not supplying some type of signal to the output, that the MBP wants to see?)... is there a way to FORCE the MPB to have output? I know that if there is signal, it will display (we have LOTS of notebooks that display to the projector just fine, BUT have SEVERAL MBP's, and NONE of them will detect, and we've tried several adapters (just to be sure)... HELP!... is there some way to FORCE output from the MBP instead of it having to DETECT IT???
    Thanks!

Sorry Walter, but according to the Terms of Use (which you agreed to the first time you logged in to the Discussions and can be found if you click on the "Help" link to the right):
Do not post a URL unless it directly answers a user's question.
The URL you post does not answer David's original question. Also, it could potentially void his warranty because a firmware hack (and this is indeed a link to a "hack") is an unauthorized alteration to the hardware of his computer. ("Software" can only be installed on the hard drive and that hack is not installed on the hard drive, it's installed on the firmware on a chip inside the logic board.)
I don't want to take this thread off-topic, but your reply does NOT help David's situation. I would, however, value your input and anyone else's to this and any other topic in the Discussions as long as it is pertinent to the original subject.

  • Connect MBP to Sony TV

My MBP (MacBookPro5,4, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz) will not display when I connect it to my Sony TV. I am using the MiniDisplay to DVI adapter, then DVI to HDMI to my TV. The display shows up in the System Preferences, but nothing is displayed on the TV.
    Any Ideas?

Obvious question, but you guys have chosen the right input setting on your TV based on where your cables are plugged in?
Mine is connected to our Aquos via the mini to DVI adaptor (I just use the DVI and a separate audio cable). I do not have mine set to mirror as I wanted the dual-display ability for some things.

  • Fails to connect MBP 2008 to Sony Bravia with HDMI Cabel

Trying to connect our MacBook Pro from year 2008 to our 2013 SONY Bravia by means of "Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable", the SONY Bravia will only show the background picture (Milky Way) of our MBP, but NOT the application that we have opened on the MBP.... Happy to receive any hints... Thank you!

Well, I have a regular macbook and one thing I found out is to make sure your tv cable box is off and that just your tv is on.  I know that sounds simple, but I didn't realize this at first!  The other thing I did was go on youtube and found a video of a guy showing exactly how to set it up, settings, connections, etc... It really helped me.  I had to look around a lot to find one that I could understand, but that's how I finally figured it out!

  • Is it possible to connect MBP as a external disply from macbook air

I have both a macbook pro and air, my MBP is 15" and air 11"
i was wondering if its possible to use my MBP 15" as a external displly like "another/ seperate" monitor
i thought of two ways of possibly connecting them.
1, buying a thunderbolt cable and hooking them up and hopefully lworking
    2. buy a thunderbolt-VGA, get a VGA cable, and VGA-mini disply port
not sure if theis would work but really want to use my MBP as a disply.
    any answers? thanks

Due to the form factors, I wouldn't think it would be a good fit to use a 15" as a monitor even if it were possible.  You can get an bigger monitor that would work for around $100.  That  would be my solution if you wanted a bigger display from your 11" MBA.

  • Connect MBP to TV using RCA Cables

Hi. Is there a way I can connect my MacBook Pro to my older TV just using RCA?
Basically I have Red, Yellow and White open ports on my TV and wondered if there was a cable or a converter of some kind that I could connect my computer to and then connect that to the RCA cables.
    Thanks!
    Message was edited by: crystalfromshawnee

Those are actually composite inputs (the yellow is video, the red and white are stereo audio), not RGB. Depending on what model of MacBook Pro you have, this adapter might work:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A
If your MacBook Pro has a mini DisplayPort connector rather than DVI, then it's been reported that a mini DisplayPort adapter (available from Apple) and this converter:
    http://www.grandtec.com/products/video/untimateEZ.html
works, but I have no personal experience with it.
Either solution would require that you run the audio separately, from the headphone/speaker output of your MBP to the red and white inputs on your TV.

  • Help! Connecting MBP to HDTV

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseam but I still can't find a solution that works for me. I am trying to connect my MBP to a Mitsubishi WD-52525 DLP HDTV. I'm using a DVI-HDMI cable. I tried it through an Onkyo AV receiver and directly to the TV HDMI inputs. Nothing. The MBP doesn't recognize that a second display is connected. What could be the problem?

I have done this and it works fine. Did you get it resolved? I have a Sony AV receiver that occasionally does not recognize my Mac mini (connected the same way) and I have to switch video channels on the receiver to something else for 5 seconds then back to get it to recognize the Mac. Also, have you tried connecting the Mac to the TV then booting it up?

  • Trouble Connecting MBP to HDTV

Hi, I've checked multiple threads on multiple forums with people having similar issues but haven't found a resolution yet!
I'm attempting to connect my Late 2011 MacBook Pro to my Sony HDTV using a minidisplay port/Thunderbolt to HDMI cable that I bought off Amazon:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matters-Plated-Premium-DisplayPort/dp/B004CADYDO/r ef=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1362671342&sr=8-13
However, after plugging it all in and turning my TV to the correct HDMI port, there's no picture.
My MBP does the blue screen flash that supposedly shows it has detected the external display, but then nothing happens.
In System Preferences > Display, there is no tab for "Arrange Multiple Displays" (In which the mirroring option can be found) which seems to suggest it can't detect the TV at all.
How do I get my MBP picture on the TV?!
    Thanks.

  • Connecting MBP to new Samsung 46" LCD 6300 series

    Hello All,
I'm trying to connect my 46" Samsung LCD TV to my MBP through the network but I don't seem to know how. I have a bittorrent client, Vuze, that seems to find the LCD TV through the network but is there something more proprietary? I tried looking in Samsung's website but all they have is software for the PC, not the Mac. It would be great if I could wirelessly connect my Mac to my LCD TV! THanks for all your help

Wireless? Whoa, that's not possible now. If it possible, the price will be very expensive. In fact You only need a cable from MBP to Display, i.e. Mini DisplayPort Male to HDMI Male Cable
    Link: http://www.cablematters.com/pc-30-30-gold-plated-mini-displayport-male-to-hdmi-m ale-6-feet-cable.aspx
But you know, until now Mini DisplayPort can not output audio but only video. As far as I know Cable Matters Inc. has solution for audio output. If you want high audio quality Mini Displayport Male and Toslink Audio/USB Male to HDMI Female Adapter is good for you since it supports 5.1 Channel audio.
    Link: http://www.cablematters.com/pc-56-26-mini-displayport-male-and-toslink-audiousb- male-to-hdmi-female-adapter.aspx
You will need another HDMI to HDMI cable from this adapter to the TV/Screen.
If you don't require high quality audio this is an alternative Mini DisplayPort Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Adapter.
    Link: http://www.cablematters.com/pc-24-32-mini-displayport-male-and-usb-male-audio-to -hdmi-female-adapter.aspx
You will also need an HDMI to HDMI cable from this adapter to your TV/Screen.
