Connect Mode for FTP Sender

Dear all,
We have options for Connect mode as Permanently & Per file transfer, When we connect to FTP site, which is the best one to choose according to best practice?
Regards

If you have large number of small files to be retrieved, "permanently" mode reduces the overhead caused by creating a new connection.
However, this will keep the connection open until the next polling. So, if you have polling each 1 hour, the connection will be held open. SAP recommends the "per file transfer" usage.

  • Difference between passive and active data connection mode for  FTP

    Hi,
Does any body have the idea of passive and active data connection mode for the transport protocol FTP.
I have one server with FTP, I have to pick the data from this FTP to XI.
What is the difference between active and passive data connection? Does XI supports both the connections?
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi
According to SAP Note - 821267
Q: Does the File Adapter support active data connections when connecting to an FTP server?
A: Up to and including SP14, the File Adapter exclusively uses passive data connections. Starting with SP15, active connections will be available.
    Difference between active and passive,

  • FTP/SSL Connection Problem for FTP Receiver Adapter

    Hello All,
We are trying to establish an FTPS/SSL connection with one of our customers from our XI(Unix) system, and are receive following error:
<b>iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Server certificate rejected by ChainVerifier</b>
    Communication Channel Parameters:
Connection Security: FTP (FTP Using SSL/TLS) for Control Connection or FTP (FTP Using SSL/TLS) for Control Connection and Data Connection
Command Order: AUTH TLS, USER, PASS, PBSZ, PROT
Checkbox - Use X.509 Certificate.... checked (Certificate was provided by third party (customer issued) and uploaded to service_ssl certificate store on J2EE server)
    Data Connection: Passive
    Port: 10021
    Keystore: service_ssl
    X.509 Certificate & Private Key: ssl-credentials
Note: Initial handshaking occurs but connection is being dropped by the third party FTP Server when SSL certificate credentials are being validated. We also tried connecting to the third party FTPS server using standard FTPS client(FileZilla software), this connection gets established successfully with no certificate issues which means certificate and third party FTP Server is functioning correctly.
We therefore are thinking that the problem lies with our XI system being unable to load the certificate information correctly at the point when FTPS session is being established.
Your help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and Best Regards

    Hello All,
Further in order to test connection set up and communication channel configuration we tried simulating the FTP connection locally by configuring FTP Server using FileZilla at a local machine and accessed it from Client's XI Server.
This set up simulates the problem we encounter with our customer's FTP Server.
If connection security parameter in communication channel for Sender FTP Adapter is set to <b>"FTPs( FTP Using SSL/TLS) with Control Connection" only</b>, file gets successfully created with data at the FTP server but as soon as we switch the connection security parameter to <b>"FTPs( FTP Using SSL/TLS) with Control and Data Connection"</b>, we receive error "Certificate rejected by Chain Verifier". The initial handshaking happens successfully and file gets created at the FTP Server but its empty, connection fails when attempt is made to write data into file and we end up with said error thereby closing the connection.
This is what the FTP (FileZilla) sees when the XI system attempts to set-up a fully encrypted data  (FTPS) connection i.e., connection security parameter value as<b>"FTPs( FTP Using SSL/TLS) with Control and Data Connection"</b> :-

  • How To Active/Passive Mode for FTP Adapter?

    Hi there,
For one of our adapters we need to communicate with a FTP server which only accepts FTP connections in active mode. It seems that Xi uses by default the FTP passive mode.
The question is; is it possible to switch to the active mode? and How to do that?
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Rob.

    Hi Robert,
Did you get through this problem?
Looks like we are also facing a similar issue and want to find out if it is possible to switch to active mode?

  • Any way to set "active mode" for FTP, or to use sFTP instead?

I have a web host that does not support passive FTP mode.   I need to either set the mode to be "active mode", or I need to use secure FTP (sFTP).  Is there any support for either of these within Muse?

    Hi
By default , Adobe Muse FTP option uses " Passive Mode" , I am afraid its not possible to switch to "Active Mode" or to switch to Secure FTP. Alternatively, you may export the site locally using " Export as HTML " and then you may use third party FTP client to upload the site to your third party hosting using Active or Secure FTP.
Let me know if you have any further query.

  • FTP (Sender) Adapter - Polling Problem

    Hello everyone!
I'm trying to pick up an XML file using the FTP Adapter (Sender).
Weird thing is that I have set the "polling interval" for 60secs, but the FTP adapter doesn't seem to want to repeat polling at the said time interval.
It only picks up the file once, and after that no more polling occurs.
Could anyone know what the problem might be?
    Warm regards,
    Glenn
PS. We are on PI 7.0, SP11.

    Hi Glenn,
Check the connection mode in FTP adapter.
Connect permanently or connect everytime.  Try changing the option and see if it works.
If it still doesnt work then contact the guys who are maintaining the FTP server.

  • How to use Wallets for FTP Adapter

    Hi,
Can someone point to a document that shows how we can make use of wallets for FTP Adapter.
    Thanks

    Hi,
When you configure the Connection Factory for FTP Adapter in Admin Console, provide the following values for the attributes like the hostname, username, password, port and the path of remote location as where
you want to write the file in remote Server i.e., ftpAbsolutePathBegin. Please fill this
attribute with the path like /soa/ftp/file (example path). If you are writing to a remote FTP server you need to create a Connection factory for that as above.
Please try this and let me know...
    Thanks,

That's not saying you or your shutdown is in "connected mode" (that term doesn't exist in oracle). That is simply feedback from the sqlplus that it has established a connection to the database. • Connection mode between SAP and PI

    Hi Experts,
i now have the below question.
we know normally there are three ways of connection between SAP ECC and PI.
    1. proxy
    2. RFC
    3. IDoc
then what is the connection mode for these three connections?
eg. ABAP connection, HTTP connection, TCP/IP connection?

    Hi Aditya,
    As far as I know:
    1. proxy    uses type 3 connection (ABAP)
    2. RFC       uses type T connection (TCP/IP)
    3. IDoc      uses type 3 connection (ABAP)
However, let us wait for the response of others.

  • Need help to Configure FTPS connection for File Sender Adapter

    Hi,
I want to Configure, FTPS connection (Secured Connection) for File Sender Adapter. Could anyone please guide me, what Information I require to configure. I just want to know what Information should I request the team inorder the configure FTPS so that it can be deployed properly.
I have checked with [SAP Help Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/e3/94007075cae04f930cc4c034e411e1/content.htm] and while configuring the communication channel found that I need Keystore and the X.509 Certificate and Private Key.  which needs to be deployed on the J2EE server by using the Visual Administrator.
Is there anything else, I need to configure.
Any help would be appreciated in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Varun.K

The basic things are Certificate/Keys which you already know. Usually it is enough for running a sceanrio.
However, if you have additional requirements, like FTPS for "Connection Security" for encryption, then you may need additional details like commands. Rest all settings are same as FTP.

  • File selection sequence in the FTP connection for File Sender Adapter

    Hi,
I have a file to Proxy scenario using FTP connection parameters.
If there are multiple files in the sender folder, XI picks up the files randomly with no processing sequence.
I want XI to pick up the files based on the date time stamp meaning the  oldest file created in the folder should be processes first and rest all in sequence there after.
I know processing sequence can be set for NFS connection but not for FTP .
Please suggest if there's any way to make this work.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amit Bhagwat.

    Hi
For the Transport Protocol "File Transfer Protocol (FTP)" files are always processed in ascending alphabetical order
If you want the file to be processed in sequence then you can use Quality of Service EOIO in the sender adapter.
The files are processed in the sequence they are picked up.
otherwise use BPM for File Sequencing..
    Refer the following Threads

  • Some FTP servers require active mode for connection.

Is there any option for select active mode during FTP server connection in iweb ?

No, but go and Click on the Apple symbol on your Mac and then open System Preferences.  Once is System Preferences go and open Network and then in the bottom right corner of Network click on Advanced and then click on Proxies and at the bottom of the Proxies page there is a setting called passive ftp mode that might be check by default.  If it is, then try unchecking it and then uploading your site with iWeb ftp and seeing what happens.
If this does not work, then your other option of course is to publish your site to a local folder from iWeb and then use something like Cyberduck to upload your site.

  • Unable to send file in binary mode to ftp server using AIR application

Hi,  Can any one help me. i am trying to send local files to ftp server  in binary mode from AIR application using sockets.
I cant use PASV mode for this FTP server because security restrictions. when i am trying to send Binary command i am always getting
error code 500 which is unrecognized command. I googled for solutions but i cant find any one using Binary mode to send data every example is using PASV mode to send
    file.
    code example:
    private function upload():void{
    sendCommand("binary ");
    private function sendCommand(arg:String):void {
                                            arg +="\n";
                                            s.writeUTFBytes(arg);
                                            s.flush();
in response i am getting unrecognized command.

I'm successfully using an ftp example from http://http://projects.maliboo.pl/FlexFTP/
that I converted to spark and uses a popup progress window.
If you don't need to use sockets I can post a sample project.
I believe I still connect with PASV, but have no problems sending Binary files.
I don't think they're commands that are dependent on each other

  • Proxy settings for dynamic ftp send port

Does anyone have an idea how to configure the proxy settings when using a dynamic send port to connect to an ftp server?
When using the FTP send port there is the property 'Server' to specify the proxy settings, but how would this be done with a dynamic send port?
I can't find anything about this. And there doesn't seem to be a property
FTP.Server according to intellisence in my orchestration.
    Kind regards,

It seems like most or all of the FTP properties are exposed in the Global Property Schemas assembly.  The FTP properties are under the "FTP" namespace (see FTP property schema below).
One thing you might try is to get it working (simple messaging) using a static FTP send port.  Once it is working, turn on send port tracking of message properties (before and after port processing).  Inspect the tracked message for the FTP
related properties set during static transmission and try setting these within your orchestration.
