Connect multiple printers through Airport?

I have two printers (HP3100 and Epson3880) I would like to connect wirelessly to my local network so can be accessed by many in the house. I see airport express has capability for one USB input - if I put a hub in will both be recognized?
Multiple computers with 10.6.8 or higher.
If not is there another way?
Thanks.

Yes, as long as it is a powered hub.

  • Multiple Printers on AirPort Express 802.11n

I know the literature on the OLD airport express said that you could not connect multiple printers via a USB hub. Is this possible on the new version, released 3/17/08?
    It would really be outstanding...
Also, any Apple techs out there know why we don't see airtunes on the Extreme Base Stations or Time Capsule?
    Thanks.

I just bought an AXP at a local Apple Store. While there, I was told multiple printers would work, wouldn't work, not to try it and that it might work by several different employees. I bought it since I could try it and exchange it for an AXT if it didn't do this properly.
I now have an Epson 2200 and a Brother MFC 9700 connected and printing perfectly. They both show up as Bonjour printers. The only problem I had was adding the 2200 to one of our computers. For some reason I kept getting errors at first. Then I hit the Auto Select button for the drivers and it added properly. I don't know why this happened, since I used the default all along, there you go.

  • Multiple Printers on Airport Extreme POE

I have 2 Epson 1280 printers connected to an Airport Extreme POE through a USB hub. The Airport only sees one printer. I renamed it "Right" and unplugged it. The other printer Shows and I renamed it "Left". Which ever printer is closer to the airport on the hub is displayed in the configuration utility. Firmware is 5.6 and utility is 4.2. Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated.

This seems to be a limitation of the current Airport firmware - you cannot connect two printers of exactly the same make/model since only one will be "seen".

  • Can't connect to internet through Airport Express anymore

Suddenly, my PowerBook can't connect to the internet through Airport Express. Monday late afternoon--everything was fine. Put it in sleep, come back a few hours later, can't connect.
Thing is, Airport/wireless is working. Can stream audio to my home stereo.
And the DSL/modem are working. If I connect the machine via ethernet directly, I'm online.
Saw that some other users began having problems with USB/printer connections Monday. Could my problem be related?
    What gives?
    Any ideas?

Hello mnkyby. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
It sounds like your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) in not getting a proper IP address from your modem.
    Try this ...
o Connect to the AX's wireless network, and then, run the AirPort Admin Utility.
o Go to the Internet tab.
o Note the value for IP address. (Note: Do not list it here on the forum, just note what it is.)
o Is the IP address what you would expect from your ISP or is it something like: 196.254.x.x?
If the latter, try the following ...
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
    o Power-off the DSL/Cable modem, AX, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the DSL/Cable modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the DSL/Cable modem, AX, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the DSL/Cable modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)

  • Multiple Printers with Airport Express

Is it at all possible to hook up two printers to my airport express with a USB hub? If so, how. Thanks.

Hello Chad Jones3. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Is it at all possible to hook up two printers to my airport express with a USB hub? If so, how.
Sorry, but no. The AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) USB port will only support a single USB printer. USB hubs, let alone multiple printers are not supported.

  • Lost connection to internet through airport

My Mac at home is configured to a timecapsule and connected through airport wifi. The Time capsule is connected via cable to modem and out via cable to Internet. Up until today everything is fine. started up and i have lost connection to the internet.
Network Preferences is showing that Airport has a self asssigned IP address and cannot connect to internet. The time capsule lights are showing green, as do the Modem, neither are reporting problems.
I have tried all of the "first Aid configurations" i.e. switch off/on etc, also tried a couple of ideas from forums, nothing works. I can connect the Mac directly to the modem via cable and access the internet.
As an aside, My iphone has also lost connectivity through home wifi.
It would appear from other forums that this is a growing problem, however not much in the way of resolution. Any Ideas????

  • Multiple printers by Airport Extreme & USB hub

Is it possible to connect two printers to the one Airport Extreme with a USB hub (not the power-over-ethernet version)? I want to use a Canon iP5200 and a Dymo Label Writer 310, without repeatedly exchanging USB cables or switching on both computers at the same time.

  • Can't connect to internet through Airport network

    Previously - worked
    Internet: DSL
    Network: via Airport Extreme
    Computers: 3 (G4 Tower, PowerBook G4, Xbox360)
Setup: I ran the ethernet cable out of the modem into the Aiport Extreme. Then I ran another ethernet cable into a router which then split the signal into two lines -- one going to the tower and one going to the Xbox. The laptop connected wirelessly. This worked using DHCP assigning multiple IP addresses to all on the network and indeed the two computers surfed the net with ease and I had no problems connecting or staying on Xbox Live.
    Currently - doesn't work
    Internet: Cable (Charter)
    Network: same
    Computers: same
Problem: I recently switched from DSL to Cable internet for faster speed. Here is what i found: When i connect the ethernet cable directly into the tower from the modem i can access the internet. If i connect the ethernet cable directly into the PowerBook G4 i get nothing. If i try to connect the ethernet cable to the Airport from the modem i get nothing as well. At first all i thought i had to do was change the account settings from that of the DSL to that of the Cable internet -- only there are no account settings for the Cable internet. I literally just plugged in the cable and was ready to go. I have tried resetting my airport to get rid of my previous [DSL] settings and redoing the Airport Setup Assistant to no avail.
    G4 Tower, PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

ok so i unplugged my modem for a few minutes and then plugged the ethernet into the airport and turned the modem back on. now i can get internet on both my laptop and my tower. that works, thanks!
an odd aside tho is that before, when i was connecting through PPPoE, the laptop would automatically connect to my network (regardless of how many networks the airport card was picking up). now that i have the airport set to just connect via ethernet i have to manually log onto my network every time. is there a setting i'm forgetting about that enables automatic log in or is this just the case with connecting via ethernet?
here is the next problem, though. i bought a wireless adapter for my 360 and it cannot detect my network. it detects two other different networks that are in my complex but not mine. i have no idea if this is an airport issue or a 360 issue as powerbooks just automatically detect an airport base station. i have tried testing it in the same room as the airport with no luck. the only way i have connected to Xbox Live so far was to hard line an ethernet cable to the 360, shut the modem off, turn it back on and connect that way. if anyone knows anything about the 360 or has had similar problems trying to get their 360 up and running wirelessly through an airport please let me know

  • Problems connecting to internet through airport extreme

Hi everyone I am tyring to connect to the internet. I have Charter Digital at the highest speed. When I connect directly through the cable modem using DHCP i can connect to the internet just fine, but when I use the Airport using assing multiple IP addresses i cannot get the internet. When I run diagonostics, Everything works fine up to ISP after that (internet, Server) cannot connect. I've read through the boards and found nothing, so I could really use some help. I have the CAT 5 cable from the modem going to the WAN plug in the Airport.
Thanks for any help you can give

Thank you - some of the materials linked to that may have helped isolate my problem. Unfortunately, nothing's solved it yet. Pinging the Apple IP address gives me: No route to Host, with 100% packet loss on all attempts. I'm using an Airport Express card in a 1GHz G4 eMac running OSX 10.3.9, trying to connect to a Linksys BEFCMUH4 wireless broadband gateway modem/router. As stated above, all 4 ethernet ports are functioning correctly. All initial diagnostics on my end show there's a connection. Further diagnostics and attempts to get online show a lack of a connection but don't give any detail as to where it's encountering difficulty (or, if a traceroute shows something I'm not qualified to decipher it). It's even told me it's unable to configure succesfully. I've made sure the router itself is configured so there is no password necessary (it checks for an automatically logged number from my computer) and it shouldn't be locking me out from there (I hope). I was told running Airport Express with a non-Airport wireless router would be fine, but is it possible I was misinformed? The setup procedures available to help facilitate this all assume there's an Apple AirPort to search for and don't turn up my current router when they scan, leaving me with nothing to select from in that stage of the setup, and thus I cannot proceed. Am I doomed? Are there any gracious, exceedingly capable souls out there with the time and expertise to assist me? I'll be very grateful if someone can get me past this hurdle (I need to go wireless so I can get my air conditioner installed).

  • Connect to Printer Through Airport

OK. I have a wireless network set up in the house, however, the router and modem and upstairs, and the printers are downstairs. The Airport Express would not be connected directly to the router as they are in different rooms. Can I hook up the network printer and USB printer to the Airport Express and then print to them wirelessly via a laptop on my regular network? Do I have to join a different network to print? How can this be done? Can it be done?
    Thanks in advance.

I haven't tried with the network printer, but USB printer is fine. You can be the first to report back. The ethernet port on the Express can be used as a WAN (to create a network) or a LAN (to hook up to a Mac or ethernet printer).
Do I have to join a different network to print? How can this be done? Can it be done?
During the setup of AirPort Express via AirPort Utility, you would select +Join existing wireless network+. Enter your existing network name, password and encryption protocol. Restart AE.

  • Cannot connect to internet through AirPort in Costa Rica - HELP!

    Hello,
I have been traveling Costa Rica for the past few days, and have had no problem connecting to WIFI across the country, but, tonight, I am not able to connect. I clicked on my AirPort icon > Open Network Preferences. The Status reads "On", BUT under the status is a message that says:
"AirPort has the self-assigned IP address 169... and will not be able to connect to the internet."
Reading through the posts here, I have tried several fixes...
    - Renew DHCP Lease
    - Repair permissions
    ...And still no luck.
I have no access to the router itself, because I am staying at a bed and breakfast. Anyone have any other ideas?
I really appreciate your help in advance. I love this community!
    Sincerely,
    Nathan

    Hey,
This is obviously seems to be a DHCP problem, do you have any other wireless devices with you like an iPhone, iPad or just any wireless capable device ? If yes, try to connect through it and see if it will obtain a valid IP address successfully, if it didn't, then surely it's a router issue that it isn't able to distribute IP addresses, if you don't have a second device, can you see any ethernet connections in the wall ? another solution is to contact the IT person at your location and ask him if you should configure your network settings manually and if so, what would be the settings. Sometimes something as simple as restarting the router fixes similar issues

  • Error 9672 when connecting Canon LBP5200 through AirPort

I have just bought a Canon LBP 5200 colour laser and installed the driver from Canon's web site to my PowerBook G4 (OS X.4.6). It works fine when connected directly on USB but refuses to do anything when connected through my AirPort. I get an error message "9672" but can find nothing on Apple or Canon's help pages. Help!
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Despite being a total newbie, I good the damned thing to work--At least for now.
I first unplugged the airport and then the printer. Plugged them both back in and then went to Canon's site to redownload the drivers. Restarted the Macbook pro and to my astonishment it worked. Again, at least for now.....

  • Not connected to internet through airport xtreme (connection is ok) after upgrading iOS6

after upgrading to iOS6 none of my mobile devices (running iOS6) can go online on internet through my airport extreme. My MAC is using the same without problem.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Imac G4 not connecting to internet through airport?

I have installed airport on my G4 in the airport utility it shows a connection and the light on the AEXBS I have finally gotten to be green after struggling through blinking amber. When I go into sys. pref. >network>show Airport isn't listed?
What can I do to fix this problem? I'm assuming if it's not listed that is a big problem.
I have my base station connected to my modem via WAN port, base station also connected to IMAC via ethernet port.
Been spending all day on this and just getting nowhere? Any suggestions?

Make sure your G4 is compatible with AEBS I'm beginning to realize I may need an old airport card to resolve the problem.

I am currently using cablevision and a modem, wirelessly, working fine.
have extensive music library, want to play it through home stereo wirelessly.
acquired airport express. computer finds it fine, but cannot skip using A Express as wireless connection
    help?

you should be able to launch Airport Utility and setup your Express from scratch. The process is fairly self explanatory for me however, I found this tutorial that is pretty good and should get you through this ok, it's got screen shots to use as reference and covers the setup you are attempting to achieve.
