Connect my MAC OS X 10.6.7 with CANON LIDE 25?
apparently there is a not so obvious problem ..i tried many times to download the driver from canon but there is a file that appears in my screen just before the installation finish that says "system/library/extensions.kext" is improperly installed. after that i restart the computer and the driver doesnt work.
I can't understand...i am a new mac user..before changing my system into snow leopard the scanner was working perfectly with my Mac..
It works for me. I use canoscan toolbox ( http://www.canon.fr/Support/Consumer_Products/products/scanners/LiDE_series/Cano Scan_LiDE_25.aspx?DLtcmuri=tcm:79-741070&page=1&type=download ) .
My scanner doesn't appears in the list in preview, but when i run canoscan toolbox, I'm able to use my scanner

Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.

And I have a printer of Canon LBP2900...
My problem is that, I can't connect my Canon LBP2900 printer with my new OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version.
My previous OS X Mavericks is working well with my Canon LBP2900 printer...
But when I upgrade it to OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 version, my printer is not working...

Thanking you.... Your suggestion in this regards is highly appriciate...Your first step would be to upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6). To do that, you would need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD. Following that you could determine how much further you could upgrade.

I just bought a mac from a friend and i hooked up my canon MP160 printer/scanner and it will print but not scan properly. I have os x 10.6.8. Any help would be appreciated. I tried everything... I even went to Canon's website and downloaded a couple of different things.

Are we suppose to guess what those "things" were that you downloaded?Did you repair permissions and restarted your computer after installing those "things?" -

the canon website specs for the canon pro 9500 mark II printer list mac os 10.5 x 7 as compatible but no mention of later version 10.7.4. has anyone paired this os w/ this printer?

It sounds like you are connecting your MacBook Pro with your television, but you are not getting additional options for your external display.
I found an article with steps to troubleshoot issues with displays. This article is for internal and external displays, so you can skip any steps referring to the internal display. I recommend reviewing the section titled "No video or no signal, image distortion, 'snow,' or flickering" in the following article:

Remotedesktop connection for mac
Hi there,
I frequently used RDV (Remote Desktop Connection for Mac) to access my old PC with Windows XP over my WLAN network and via cable over LAN from my mac book pro.
Now i bought a mac mini (latest) and installed Win7 with bootcamp. I need to access it remotely from my mac book pro so i tried Remote Desktop Connection. It works over my local WLAN network, BUT it dosn't work over LAN.
Which are the correct settings to use a LAN cable and the RDV that it works properly?
mac book pro with OSX ---- LAN cable ---- mac mini with win7 (bootcamp)

AndyYeah I'm aware of this fact. It seems to me that you don't have that much experience with networks.
The IP address I mentioned was the IPv4, I set manually to 10.0.0.1 /255 255 255 0 on one computer, and to 10.0.0.2 on the other. The sub net has to be the same that they are able to to talk to each other.
I also found the error, then when i send a ping, the computers were connected. So my other guess was, that it could be a firewall problem, and indeed it was. I allowed the remote desktop for everyone in the firewall settings and now MS RDC is able to connect over LAN to the mac mini. -
More details about the problem : My computer is a Mid 2012 Mac Book pro 2.9GHz i7 processor with 8GB RAM updated to OS X v10.8.5
- I ran a compleet scan of my computer for any threats ( I used virus barrier express ) and there was nothing identified
- When I oppened the Activiti Monitor there are about 20-30 processes which I do not undersatand they are run under the user "root" 2 in perticular ( Kernel_task & fseventsd ) they both take up a lot of threads and kernel_task is constantly using 1.2 GB of "real memory" which is at least 20 times any other process that is running espesially the ones that run under the user "Apple" I do not know if this is causing the problems on my mac but i tryed to forces close it and it dose not even let me click the button, the others close but reopean immideatly. I will attach a screen shot of what i have mentioned here.
- The problems I am facing are mainly performance :- To state a few examples, my mac dose not seam to be able to handile even the smallest tasks like switching tabs on safari, typing any thing, playing a movie withought stopping inbetween, etc.. ( let me elaborate on why I said its not able to handil these tasks, it is because when I am trying to do any one of the afformentioned tasks inbetween the cursor becomes a rainbow collered spinning disk and I am unable to do anything for about 10 seckonds after which it starts to work again for some time before it happens again. )
- Another concern of mine is that my mac seems to be on even with the lid closed if I do not shut it down compleetly, if i just close the lid after some time the computer starts warming up, and the fan starts running. the battery is drained at the same rate or slightly less rate than it would have if i was using it normally with the lid opean. ( altough this is happning the screen dose not turn on untill the lid is opean again )
- I have only 300+ GB full out of my 750GB so i believe these are not issues caused by my mac's memory being full ( BUT THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THIS WAS HAPPNING WAS WHEN MY MEMORY WAS ABOUT 720GB FULL WHEN THESE ISSUES FIRST AROSE I IMMEADITLY DELEATED 400+GB OF MY USELESS FILES THAT I HAD BEEN HORDING ALL OF WHICH WERE MOVIES ) that about covers it all PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY ONE KNOWS WHAT TO DO.
Ps: I apoligize if I have given too many unrelevant details, not enough usefull information and or if i was just all over the place with my explanations but I am really frustrated and was hoping not to miss anyting. Please let me know if any information at all is required and ill do my best to provide it.

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?

I know this sounds like a weird question, but I need to connect my Mac laptop running 10.5.2 to my Polycom phone. I know there are many options like Skype, etc... but I need to use my own softphone which goes to a company dialer. For example I use ohphonex. This allows me to dial any number and point it to an IP gateway to receive my call. I can use this with the internal mic and speaker, or attach my mic to it, but quality is still not great. The polycom phone I have is an excellent phone and when I am talking to other business executives with strong accents - I need have really **** good quality.
So what I want to do is to be able to dial out of my laptop, and have the voice and the mic be used with the phone. I would like to connect the phone to the laptop so if I want to dial a phone number from the phone it will dial the program I choose (or another softphone that can let me me choose the IP gateway), and I want to be able to use the Polycom Clarity Soundpoint phone.
