Connect my network printer to macbook air

I've recently switched from windows to Mac - I have first gen MAc book air. I'm trying to connect a wireless printer to it. (Kyocera Taskalfa 250ci). The mac can't find it, so I type in the IP address under the IPP setting. But it just won't connect. I have downloaded the relevant printer drives as well. But no joy.
Any advice?

Apple seems to have dropped the ball here,
I have been having the same problem with (Kyocera Taskalfa 3050ci) It seems that the Macs can't detect the printer
I have tried two different Macbook Pros, a 15 inch and a 13 inch they are both 2011 models, they connect once and that's it
they never detect the printer anytime after.

Not if you followed the setup instructions for use of the Mac with the wi-fi enabled printer...
There likely is more than one way to use the printer via wi-fi. If your computer already
had the drivers installed for the printer, or went online to get a download, the results
may vary. Settings are the key. It may also be seen as a Bonjour printer, if not direct.

I am currently replying to this as it shows in the iChat Community.
I have asked the Hosts to move it to Snow Leopard (you should not lose contact with it through any email links you get)
I also don't do Wirelss printing so I can't actaully help either.

yes. As long as it is a newer one (means not 15-20 years old). Do you have one? If so, provide the make/model. If you do not have one, which ones are you looking to purchase?

Unable to print from recently purchased Macbook Air via wireless router (Linksys e1550) that is connected Windows XP which is connected to Lexmark x2650 printer. I have installed Lexmark 2600 series driver on Macbook Air. Macbook Air sends print job to print queue and print job is released from queue but does not print on Lexmark printer connected to XP. Hi Wade, and Welcome to the dicussions.
I think it's how the PC is setup and interpreting the Mac's drivers, should just pass them on I think, but here's a way to get most any Mac to print to most any printer on an XP machine...

Print>Save as PDF - uses Preview (part of OS X), so Adobe Reader should have no effect on that at all.
As to the "damaged file" error, simply uninstalling the Reader app won't affect it. Do the following:

Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Adobe Reader app
[user]/Library/Preferences

Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Reader folder (the whole folder)
Empty the Trash.

Quit your browser and reinstall Reader.
Launch it from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement.
You should have no problems downloading PDFs with Safari.
Unfortunately, ANY PDF that says it's damaged.... is. You'll have to trash them.

Can anyone recommend an at-home printer for MacBook Air 13" for my granddaughter? High school now requires papers typed and printed. Thanks.

Personally I like Canon inkjet printers. When I connected it to the USB port, the MacBook immediately recognized it and it worked without a hitch. If you're going to be printing mostly B/W then there are many inexpensive laser printers that typically print faster and crisper for text. IMHO.

Is this just the most ridiculous oversight or is there some underlying reason why this doesn't connect and function properly? How amazing would it be if I could just click on a contact number and dial from my phone like I could in 2008 via my Lenovo and my Blackberry. This blows my mind that two devices that scream compatibility are far from it. From my bluetooth options it see my device, then sends a code, I confirm and then it briefly connects only to disconnect almost immediately. #fail #appleoversight #failfailfail
Fix it or I'm going back to PC ****

Problem solved!! I finally managed to pair the SE HCB-100 car kit speakerphone with the 3GS. I surfed the SE web site and it mentioned resetting the speakerphone. Tried it on 'one color ID' but it didn't work so I did it on all 'color IDs' and left it on reset mode when it 'accidentally' was picked up by my 3GS while searching!!! Found 'headset' and then recognised it as HCB-100. One happy guy for the holidays!!!

Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air. In bootcamp i allocate the partition then i click install and bootcamp will not see the disk.

The remote disk on my air can find the cd but bootcamp will not begin installing it. Anyway to do this without buying the damned usb drive?

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

Thanks for telling us the printer model. You are right - it isn't in the software available for auto-download from Apple servers.
Are you using the version 3.66 CAPT driver released in Jun 2014?

It is a disk image (.dmg) file. You must double-click to "mount" the disk image, then install using the installer inside that.
Please let us know if that helps. There are more thing to try.

I used to be able to connect my iPhone 4 with my 3 yr old MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. I used my iPhone's personal hotspot more then once to access the Internet on my laptop when there was no wireless. I don't get why it wouldn't work with my new MacBook Air. That just seems silly. My laptop found my iPhone and was able to add the device, but then my iPhone wouldn't connect. Is there really no way around this??
