I want to connect my new Macbook Pro by usb cord to an existing Canon MP610 printer. What driver software do I download? The Canon site has 3 options. Then 3 more options for another function. I'm confused.

USB Connection Issues-New Mac Pro
I have a new Mac Pro (late 2013) that has USB connection issues.
First; it often fails to recognize a USB keyboard, or takes more than a minute to do so. I tried it with two different keyboards, one a regular Apple USB keyboard and the other a Das Keyboard unit. I tried it both on a powered USB hub and directly connected to the computer. Neither of these affected the problem. It happened both under Mountain Lion and Yosemite, and seems to be worse under Yosemite. This problem DOES NOT occur on my Mac Mini, so the problem appears to be with the Mac Pro. Most of the time unplugging and plugging the keyboard in again solves the problem. This gets old. I have gone to using a bluetooth keyboard but much prefer the USB keyboards with the numeric keyboard.
It also ejects the only USB drive attached to it. It does not eject the two Thunderbolt drives. The disconnection occurs when the Mac Pro is in the "sleep" mode; the "Disk not ejected properly" message is displayed when the computer wakes up. This happens almost all the time. The same drive does not exhibit this behavior when attached to the Mac Mini. It is an older G-Drive unit.
Possibly related to this is the fact that the two Thunderbolt units (Pegasus R2 and Lacie) do not shut off when the Mac Pro is sleeping. I wonder if the problem lies in how the unit "sleeps" and "wakes up". I don't know enough about the internal workings of these things to know how to test for this.
If anyone knows how to fix this I'd appreciate some advice.Have you tried resetting the SMC and PRAM?

I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input. I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy. I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?

I want to Connect my Mac Mini as a Slave to a Mac pro Server while at the same time using the Mac mini's thunderbolt ports peripherals ( ie monitor, Sound Card, Hard drives) Creating a poor man's new mac Pro. Can this be Done?
Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?... or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen? -
I'm trying to connect my 30" Cinema Display to my new Mac Pro along with a new Apple 23'" monitor. The new Apple monitor is fine. On the cinema monitor everything is blown up pretty large. Any ideas on how to solve this?

My brand new Mac Pro Tower that I spent a small fortune on sometimes boots up and does not connect to the internet when every other computer in my office does and other times it just kicks me straight off. My question is, is there a problem with the wi fi on these machines?
Brand new nMP Mac Pro 6,1 Late 2013.... and it is defective - the older silver tower might be easier to find parts but at least it is not 65 lbs and is something that can be taken in - which I think you really need to do.
When you run etrecheck from www.etresoft.com it can show what is installed, drivers and might help point to something on software side.
Grant is the go-to person here I think among others for networking issues.
Airport Express and signal strength, channel it is trying to use, whether the Network control panel settings are "correct" or need to be changed (even the order, what it is trying to look for and use).
If you move it to another spot or put another computer over in that general vicinity...? behaves the same.

Can I set up my Mac mini to transfer its contents to a new Mac Pro and then disconnect my Cinema Display and use it connected to the Pro to complete the transfer? Do I actually need two displays to manage the transfer?
It helps have 2 monitors, so that you can monitor data XFER, just my experience. If nothing else it allows you keep am eye on what is going on.

Connect the iPad to the Mac with the cable and launch iPhoto. Your iPad should appears under the devices heading in iPhoto - in the left sidebar - just like it does in iTunes. Click on the iPad name. Then you can import the photos. -

I tightened all HD screws and it didn't help. With the machine running and side of the case off, I physically stopped both the video card fan and the front case fan with my finger for a couple seconds and the noise continued. I also took all hard drives out one by one and rebooted each time. Again, the noise continued until I took out the Mac HD in Bay 1, rebooted, and I had a very quiet, silent machine. The issue is the hard drive in bay 1 that shipped with the computer, it's without a doubt causing the hum/woosh sound. I still need to know if I can safely swap the Mac HD from bay 1 to bay 4 without any issues to the operating system. I would like to try that to see if it dampens the noise but I also want to make sure this swap won't screw up my machine at all.

HD problem after connecting to new Mac Pro
Went to our first MUG meeting of the years tonight. And took along my Lacie 500gig firewire external H/D. This was going to be used to demo the new iTunes 7 app. The computer being used was a new Mac Pro duo core intel etc.
When I plugged the H/d in to the Firewire 400 socket on this machine it would not mount. So sadly the demo would have to wait for another meeting.
MORE SADLY.... when I returned home and tried to connect it to my 15" iMac it would not mount..... What has happened??
It is more than obvious to me that my hard-drive has been corrupted by trying to use it with Apples latest entry into the market.
I have swapped cords Ports etc. The drive does power up when I start the computer and sounds like it is going to mount... Profiler does not show it...
any help would be appreciated...Seems that I have a solution.... It would seem after some troubleshooting that the FireWire 400 port in no longer working.... why? I can only guess. The other FireWire 800 and USB 2 ports are fine.... Thankfully I am still in the warrantee window....
Let me say that this is the first and only problem I have had with Lacie H/D's....other than ...."Make sure that you initialize it before adding any files to it"... I know it is supposed to be Plug & Play with Mac, But I am betting it will think it is connected to a PC....unless you take the initializing step... -

New Mac Pro: What are You using to connect your eSATA external drives to you nMacPro?

I have some eSATA external HDs that I would like to use with my 2013 New Mac Pro.
I was just wondering what other have been using to connect their nMPs to eSATA devices and how well it has worked. I have seen a USB3 to eSATA cable from NewEgg.... which seems like a good idea ... if it will work.

I connect a Voyager bought from OWC to one sata port and that's where my bare 2.5 and 3.5 hard drives reside when I need them. The other sta port has a Pioneer 207 blu ray drive. When I sleep my 2013 Mac Pro I turn off the power to the Voyager and the Pioneer. All work flawlessly.

New Mac Pros won't connect to the first startup volume
I have five new Mac Pros running 10.4.8; I set a couple network volumes as startup items which has always worked fine before. But on these new machines, no matter what the first startup volume is, it gives me this error:
Connection failed
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
Then goes on to connec to the next volume fine. We have a Win2K Server and a Win2003 Server, and it acts the same way with both of them. It seems like something on the Mac must be timing out too fast. I have checked the logs and they don't help me at all. I have repaired permissions, run FSCK, done all the periodic maintenance and safe-booted but none of it has helped. Any ideas what I can do?
