Connect one BW system to Multiple Portals

Hi,
My current client owns 2 companies and they both have their own portal, the issue is that they would like to implement same report for both companies to use, which means we will have to use same queries on 2 different portals. i.e  Assuming company A and company B own different portals and want to use the sample BW report
i.e.. client is merging 2 companies and wanted to eliminate 1 BW instance...but they want to use their existing portals as it is...
So we want to know whether 1 BW system can connect to 2 separate portals and users can able to access same BW reports on 2 portals from 1 backend BW system..
If someone configured with such scenario, please help me to know the steps..
Regards
Suresh

Hi,
1) You want to eliminate one BW instance and maintain both the portals?
2) You want both of these portals to display same reports from BW?
Is that all your requirement is? If yes, then it's certainly possible. There is no mandate on no. of portals you can connect to BW. Are you displaying BW reports via web templates and integrating them using iView or you've more indepth integration scenario?
As far as report display is concerned, both portal have their own configurations and this configuration is not exclusive to either of them. Go on to connect BW the way you do for any portal.
Pardon me if I missed something on your requirement. Please elaborate if it is so

  • Connecting One process Server to Multiple SAP Systems

    Hi Experts,
We have a licensed version of the SAP CPS with the Process server limit parameter set to 4, which means we are limited to 4 process server as per my understanding. But when we create a SAP system the process server and the respective Queue is automatically created. SO that means we can create a max number of 4 SAP systems with 4 process servers!!
Or is there a way we can connect one process server with multiple SAP systems ?
    Thanks,
    Eric.

Yes - Process server limit parameter set to 4 means your CPS environment can start jobs in 4 SAP systems only.
Maybe "SAP Business Automation Enabler (BAE) Connectors" could be useful to you in your situation.
    - Check the CPS admin guide for more information on BAE connector.

  • Connecting SAP PLM system to iview portal.

Hi experts i want one clarification on process of connecting SAP PLM system to iview portal.
here my scenario is SAP PLM->>>XI--->>>WEBSERVICES
    RFC-->>XI--->>>>SOAP
1---->>here i have to get the list of all materials from SAP PLM using iview as
    front end tool.
2---->>and the next thing is if the material is camera means it should require the
lengs software for the camera. In the iview we can select the material
    for upgrated software.
3--->>after that the input parameters wil be sent to webservices
(some website) using XI part(mapping and all) and the response should come back then it has
to be stored in the SAP PLM system.
please clear me all the above questions.
    thanks & regards

    HI,
    See
    1) Request is sent from the Portal.
    2) Web Dynpro application is called through the URL.
    3) Web Dynpro app makes use of Web Service based Model in sending SOAP request to XI.
    4) SOAP adapter converts the incoming SOAP message into XI Message.
    5) Synchronous call is made from XI to R3 backend using RFC adapter.
    6) Response is mapped and routed back as SOAP message.
Necessary design steps in interface objects, mapping objects and Business process are created according to the functional requirements.
Sender Soap Communication channel is setup in Configuration along with other essential configuration steps.
WSDL is generated for the message interface in Integration Directory using Tools-->Define Web service.
Override the default URL with following while generating WSDL.

can one physical system have multiple logical systems? if yes  why?
    Regards
    sriman

Logical system is an ALIAS name for a physical LOCATION. so we may have more than 1 logical system name for a physical location.
eventhough its allowed, but normally we dont do that.
you can do this in FILE transaction.

  • One source system feeding multiple BW systems?

Is it possible to have the same source R/3 system feed multiple BW systems? It doesn't seem likely to me. I would think delta's would get confused. However I might be missing something.
    Regards
    Steve

Steve, of course it is possible to connect multiple BW systems to your R/3 system.  You need to create a separate RFC connection for each BW system in R/3 (tcode SM59).  The delta queues are set up per RFC connection (as you can see in RSA7).  When you perform the initialization infopackage in each BW system, a corresponding delta queue will be setup in R/3.
    Hope this helps.

  • One TREX server for multiple Portals?

I have the same requirement as that contained in this thread:
    TRex for Multiple Portals
I wonder if anyone can technically elaborate a bit what the procedure for this configuration.
I would have to install a TREX and create a TREX instance for each Portal that I want to give TREX service?
Each instance points to a different host?
My requirement is to use the same TREX to both DEV and QA Portal hosts.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. !!
    regards,
    Leandro.

    Hi Leandro,
For your requirement this document describes the TREX installation -

  • One report, One Source System with multiple Company Codes -- Authorization

    Hello Guys
We have 2 DEV source systems for our BI implementation right now. one for US (CCode - 406) an one UK(CCode - 301).
We have already completed the implementation for UK with 38 reports.
we are right now moving the US implementation.
when we move to QAS we are going to have one Source system with both US and UK data.
so when we move to QAS, the US clients wants to view the reports developed in UK implementation with their own data.
How can we do that. since some reports doesn't have company code to restrict the data to respective users.
    Thanks and Kind regards,
    shekar.

    Hi
First make the company code authorization relevant in infoobject BEx explore tab
If your in BI7 , you have analysis authorization concept

  • How to connect one IIS server to multiple non clustered WebLogic servers

I have the following installed on Win2K Servers:
    IIS 6
BEA Weblogic 6.1 running some webservices
BEA Weblogic 8.1 running an application
-Both Weblogic servers are running on the same machine (different ports obviously), IIS is on a different machine on the same network.
I have the website currently configured so that jsp files and several servlets are forwarded to the 8.1 server. So: http://mysite.com/hello.jsp or http://mysite.com/myServlet will properly forward to the 8.1 instance.
What I want to do (and have been unable to do so thus far) is to setup IIS such that http://mysite.com/myServices will forward to the 6.1 instance.
I’ve tried to setup the 6.1 iisforward and isapi dll files in a separate folder with their own ini file but I get an Overlapped I/O operation is in progress whenever the 6.1 iisforward.dll file is loaded. (Application Protection is set to High)
    Any suggestions?

  • Error in connecting to BW System in Enterprise Portal

    The error given is
       "Logon Balancing:parser error in '/M/G/3220/'  "

    Kiran,
some moe details would be really helpful...
What are you trying to do, what steps have you already performed etc.
It looks as if a SAProuter string has been set incorrectly as "/M/G/3220" looks quite weird to me.

  • Is it possible to connect a DEV System to more than one SAP Solution Manage

    Hello,
My system DEV is already connected to a first SAP Solution Manager, I would also like to reconnect the same system so that it communicates and will be monitored by a second SolMan.
Is it possible to do so and the do the operation involve any risks ?
    Thanks for your help
    Regards
    Ben

    Hello,
This is possible in many scenarios. Often this is done to distribute load, for example on Solution Manager will do the Service Desk Function, one may do ChaRM, one may be doing Monitoring & Reporting, one may be doing Diagnostics.
In these cases a managed ssytem can be connected to many Solution Manager systems.
However as Mateus has pointed out, you cannot connect one managed to two Solution Managers and do SMD on both Solution
Manager systems, but you can have more than one Solution Manager doing Diagnostics.
Even in the case of EWA, while you can connect a Managed system to multiple Solution Manager systems and have then generate a report, one of the Solution Manager systems must be defined as the Master.
So the specific scenario may place some restrictions on connecting a managed system to more than one Solution Manager,
but for most instances it can be done.

    Paul

  • Connecting two SCL systems to one backend

    Hi,
Is it possible to maintain 2 SCL system connections to one ECC system? We have already connected one SCL system to ECC as a backend and now we want to connect second one.  Is it possible to do that?
If yes how to maintain Logical Ports call parameters for that?
    Thanks
    Domas

    Hi Domas,
As pointed our by Holger, this is supported for inbound flows where your use case is to read (pull) some information from SAP into SharePoint. But use cases like reporting and workflow which publishes some items in SharePoint you cannot have the same ECC system.
But if you intention is only for DEV landscape setup and want to save a VM image and still want to support reporting & WF scenarios, then you could also create a new client which is the copy of your existing clients in the same ECC system.
Since logical port configurations are client specific you could practically connect same ECC system (but 2 diff clients) to 2 gateway systems.
    Thanks,
    Girimurugan

  • Copy Transferrules from one source system to another

    Hi everybody,
we're uploading data from nearly 25 sourcesystems (including separate systems and systems with more than one client to extract from) via flat-file. The source-system exports data to a shared file directory and the bw-system reads it from there. Though this results in only <b>one</b> transferrule for all source-systems, it keeps generating problems every time upload is due.
Somebody had the idea to switch to 'standard' R/3->BW method of data staging, using generic extractors and so on. But this will result in <b>25</b> transferrules which, I'm afraid, have to be set up and maintained seperately. As there's quite some coding in the rules (the transfertructure in fact has 241 fields), flaws are for sure!
We know the trick of exporting a transferrule, changing the source-system-mapping and re-importing the same transport-request. That can be used to copy to one or two other systems, but not for 25.
Does anybody know another way to copy a transferrule from one source system to multiple other source systems?
    Looking forward to your answers
    Thanks and Regards
    Robert

    Hi Ralph,
I don't like that methode. Importing the same transport 15 times, each time changing the source-system mapping and making sure, that source-system gets the changes seems to be a huge source of errors, which will be hard to find.
What do you think of the following idea to solve the issue a totally different way:
All transfer-rules directly connected to the source-systems are stripped of all Coding, so there is a plain 1 by 1 transformation including 0logsys.
The InfoSources attached all lead to one ODS-Object, which has the only purpose to collect the data from the source-system without any transformation. So some fields a filled by a system and other fields maybe not.
The coding specific for source-systems is moved to transfer- / update-rules from that ODS-Object to the original ODS-Objects / Cubes and the "collecting" ODS-Object is emptied after every loading process.
This will result in a single point of change. It will be quite a huge program (maybe in startroutine) but it's the one and only point, where changes and corrections have to be made.
    Regards
    Robert
