Connect PC to HDTV

Hello,
I just bought a Sony KDL-26L5000 and I have a two questions.
I want to use my HDTV as a monitor for my Gateway 300X (the link displays a pc similar to mine).
I tried reading the manual but it was somewhat confusing so I turn to you guys/girls. At first I thought I needed a DVI-to-HDMI cable but after looking at the back of computer am no longer sure. This is the back of my pc.
My second questions is, the tv does not have a headset jack, is there another way for me to connect my headset?

Thats it. I wouldnt worry about what it says it supports. Probably was made when 1024X768 was considered normal. Cable just carries the signal. Shouldnt care what screen res you are running. I have a monitor running 1280x768 usuing a vga cord from back in 2000.

Often lose wireless connection when using HDTV as monitor

I have an unusual wireless networking problem when using my Samsung HDTV in my living room as a monitor for my MacBook (when watching Internet TV shows, for example). Frequently when I switch URLs, networking freezes, even though the connection appears strong, with the Airport symbol at the top of my screen showing all bars. To re-establish the wireless connection, I have to go through the process of re-joining my network through the “Join Other Network" option. The signal holds as long as I don’t try to change it, as in selecting another URL.
I connect to my HDTV via HDMI cable, using a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter from my Macbook’s video-out port. The audio connection is a mini-plug from the Mac’s headphone out jack to stereo RCA plugs associated with the TV’s HDMI port.
The wireless connection is through a Lynksys Wireless-G 2.4 Ghz, 54 Mpbs Broadband router.
I’d appreciate any solutions the Apple user community has to offer.

I'd say this has nothing to do with your display. The problem will likely lie in either your router settings, network settings or a simple signal strength issue. Try first changing the broadcast channel on your router, and make sure all settings are correct for your desired network.

Help connecting T60 to HDTV

Hello, I need help to understand what I should do to connect my laptop T60 (1951-bs7) to my Panasonic HDTV (capable to display 1024x768 resolution.
I just purchased a cable from VGA to component video (Y, Pr, Pb) but when I connect it to HDTV I don't get the video shown on TV, I tried all the resolutions (obviously after doing Fn-PF7 to also have the video signal on the VGA output) I can't get things to work other than a few green dotted lines for the lowest resolution.
Are there any drivers I should update on my graphic card to allow component to be managed appropriately through VGA ?
Last but not least, I'm waiting for the T60 advanced dock (I just ordered it), which also has a DVI output: can I expect at least this to work with a connecton DVI-HDMI ?

Help w/ connecting MacBook to HDTV

I want to be able to connect my macbook (black) to my LG HDTV. I am using the DVI adapter to VGA (RGB). All I get is "no signal" on my TV. When I tried it out w/my Dell (didn't need the DVI adapter since my Dell has a VGA input), it worked right away. Anyone know why I would be getting "no signal?"

I used to have the same problem. I opened up the settings on my laptop while it was connected to my HDTV and under the Display menu I played around with the resolutions. Eventually one of them gave a signal to my HDTV. Hope that works.

HDMI Issue connecting laptop to HDTV

Hi Guys - I had my laptop connected to my HDTV via HDMI. I had unplugged the HDMI to take the laptop on vacation. It's been awhile since I connected it. Now when I connect the HDMI, I am getting the visual but not the audio on the tv. What am I forgetting or do I need to change a setting on the laptop (Toshiba Satellite C855 S5350)?

I believe that you need to go into your audio settings when the laptop is connected to the TV and change the default audio device from the built-in laptop speakers to the entry marked "HD audio" or something similar.

Connecting Mini to HDTV

I've got my Mini connected to a HDTV via a DVI to HDMI cable and it seems I can't get the display size to exactly match my TV's display size. If I enable overscan then a noticeable amount of the screen is cut off on all sides. If I disable it, then the image is too small for the screen.
If I connected via VGA then the image fits pretty closely, but there is still some overscan. Suggestions?

Is your TV a rear projection TV by any chance? RPTVs are, by design, set to overscan the image to some degree and hence are not very good when used as computer monitors. They really don't have a way displaying full screen and native.

How do I get rid of "echo" lag on my Airport express when playback when I play music on my MacMini, connected to my HDTV?

Not unless your sound system has a delay setting. Some do, to compensate for TV (for example) which can be slow at processing sound.

How to connect Macbook to HDTV

Hello Mac community,
When i first bought my macbook back in late 2011 it came with OSX Lion already installed. I bought an hdmi cord and a thunderbolt attachment cord (idk what its actually called but the hdmi cord goes into the smaller one which in turn plugs into my macbook) and would connect it to my HDTV and run movies and music etc through my computer onto the tv. I had no problems with it until i upgraded to OSX Mavericks and yeah no more explaining needed. After that it switched to this new 'airplay' thing which requires an apple tv i assume? anyway i saved all my important info and restored to factory settings and installed lion back to it. however, for some reason i am still unable to stream ANYTHING to the hdtv. It still displays airplay (airplay devices not detected) or something to that nature and will not register my hdtv as even being connected. its alittle frustrating to say the least. is there anyway to fix this because it used to work perfectly fine until the upgrade.

p.s. i do have osx mountain lion now installed which i used to also stream from. if that helps at all?

Your postscript prompts me to ask: When you boot from that Mountain Lion installation instead of Mavericks, does the connection still work there? If it now fails on Mountain Lion, suspect a hardware problem instead of a Mavericks problem.
I think Mavericks should still support a display through the MDP/TB-to-HDMI adapter/cable alongside any AirPlay options. What brand is the adapter?

How to Connect iBook with HDTV for iMovie?

How can I connect my iBook G4, which has iMovie 7, to an HDTV (or its VCR) in order to download the HDTV's digital file, for iMovie? 12/9/2008. My own answer follows. I phoned Apple Tech Support and they did not know. I phoned Computer Discount Warehouse Tech Support where I bought my iBook and they did not know. I phoned the Apple Store and they did not know, but said it would take a cord with the three--red, white, yellow--plugs for the TV set into a firewire plug for the iBook. I phoned Radio Shack and they did not know nor have such a cord. I phoned MacMall and they did not know. Finally I phoned Canopus who makes the converter to use between an analogue TV and my iBook, and they said that the converter would also accept the digital to digital signal from the TV VCR (after mid February 2009 TV change to digital) to my iBook. Just connected iMac to HDTV

Hey guys, Just connected my iMac to my samsung HDTV via a mini dvi to HDMI adapter, picture is awesome, i just have a question, i am basically in a DUAL SCREEN mode, both my LCD and my iMac screen work together at the same time, moving my Mouse cursor all the way to the left enters my LCD screen and i can do whatever i want on the LCD screen! its really nice, but i have a question, when i watch a video or something on the LCD TV side , my iMac's screen stays ON, as in the screen doesnt turn off as it should , i have it setup so the screen turns off after 3 mins of inactivity but heres the thing, how do i tell the iMac to turn the screen off when im using the LCD side in the Dual Mode?

Go to System Prefs/Displays/Arrange and set the iMac in Extended Desktop mode (you are calling it Dual Screen) then drag the two display icons into your preference order and drag the menubar to your HDTV to make it the primary display.
Now if you use Front Row to view all of your media; DVD, Photo, Video, etc, when FR appears on the HDTV the monitor on the iMac will darken. Media that you view with iTunes should do the same. Some 3rd party multimedia apps may also darken the secondary displays when in Extended Desktop mode with multiple displays. I only use FR.

Choosing between 720p and 1080p on Mini connected to Sony HDTV (1920x1080)

I have a late 2009 Mac Mini and a SONY HDTV and had no difficulties at all in hooking them up. I just connected the Mini Display Port to DVI connector which ships with the MAC Mini to a Belkin DVI to HDMI cable (also available from Apple Store) and connected the HDMI to my TV. I switched on the TV, selected the correct HDMI input, then switched on the Mac Mini and could see the picture immediately. I was missing the menu bar at the top so went to SYSTEM PREFERENCES and then DISPLAYS and the OPTIONS tab, and unselected OVERSCAN, and that gave me a perfect picture (slightly smaller than full screen but perfectly adequate as far as I'm concerned).
By default my resoluton was set at 1080p (presumably the Mac detected that the native resolution of my TV is 1080p). The DISPLAYS box shows a number of resolution with a little TV screen icon beside them, as if suggesting those resolutions for use with the Sony. It shows 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. There are also lots of others without TV icons beside them.
The only problem I found is that 1080p made it quite difficult to read text on my screen, even though it's not very far away from the sofa. My eyesight is very good but I couldn't read the screen comfortably when surfing the net or even when changing settings etc. I swiiched, therefore, to 720p and this produces a very comfortable size of text for using the MAC.
My question is whether it really makes such a big difference whether one chooses 720p or 1080p, as I really can't see much difference for playback of video from Hulu or other streaming websites. Even when I played a DVD movie from the Mac Mini superdrive, the difference in quality was hard to detect. I guess if I tried viewing Full 1080p HD material, there would be some difference, but how much of such material is available on the net anyway? I take it that switching between 720p and 1080p wouldn't cause any harm, if I chose to do so occasionally for watching any Full HD movies that I rip?

Hi- I also picked up a mini a week ago, and have it hooked up to my Sony HDTV via HDMI, just as you. The same thing happened the first time I connected the mini to my tv- with overscan on, the top and bottom of the screen were cut off.
The solution is to pick up your Sony remote, go to the onscreen menus, and make sure that 'full pixels' option is selected. When you do, the screen will be absolutely perfectly aligned.
I mention this because while in overscan mode, I find that the Sony makes an absolutely beautiful screen, and text is quite easy to read, albeit a bit small.

Connecting MacBook to HDTV Samsung

I am trying to connect my MacBook to my HDTV. I have purchased the mini-DVI to HDMI female cable and connected the HDMI female cable with another HDMI-HDMI cable to my television. The Mac and TV are reading each other, its just that only my background from my Mac is seen on the television. When I go to System Preferences -> to Displays there is a "Gather Windows" button that pops up, that is not present when the TV and Mac are not connected. When I push the "Gather Windows" button a window with the title "Samsung" pops up that looks very similar to the other "Display" window. I am wondering how to connect my Mac and TV so that everything from my Mac screen shows up on my TV. If I am doing something wrong, or need another cable, or anything else all help is welcomed.

In your Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays you should see two layouts of displays, one with a thick white line across the top, while the other without. The one with the thick white line across represents the display with the menubar and Dock, while the other without represents your display that doesn't have either. In this case, that should be representative of your TV. Wherever the TV rectangle is in relation to the Mac's rectangle is the assumed "position" of the desktop aligned next to the Mac. So if it is the right, you should be able to grab the titlebar of the window, and drag it over to the right hand side of the screen and have it partially appear on the TV if you keep dragging to the right. If it is some other placement, drag the window in that general direction. It may not instantly appear if your overscan settings aren't setup right. Also if you have a 1080i TV, you may need to switch to 720p resolution so that the overscan settings can be modified.

In terms of connecting an original MacBook to an HDTV, will a miniDVI (not miniDigitalPort) to VGA adapter do the trick and send the video signal. I am hearing some confusion about analog and digital signals crisscrossing and I know nothing about either. I just want to watch my laptop on my TV..oh add by the way my TV has no composite hook-ins only component, HDMI, and RGB (whatever that means)

Trouble connecting MacBook to HDTV HELP!

I just bought a Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDTV Cable. I want to connect my basic MacBook to my Samsung HDTV. I plugged in the HDMI side into the HDMI 1 port on the tv and I plugged in the other side to the mini displayport on my mac. My television does not recongize that there is an HDMI cord plugged in. When I go to sources and attempt to click on HDMI1 it says "This source is not connected. Please check cable again." Everything is properly plugged in and I've tried all 3 HDMI ports on my tv. I've also refreshed my tv to search for devices and nothing is detected.
Does anyone know a solution to my problem???
Is it an adaptor issue or is there a quick fix?
I've also tried to connect the cord to my roommates MacBook Pro and it still doesn't detect the HDMI cable.

i currently have a 12in macbook pro and im trying to connect to my new LG led tv. I have a rocketfish HDMI port and HDMI cable connected to the tv but the display wont carry over the tv just says no display connected. the laptop knows its connected because i get the little triangle sqaure docking symbol in the upper left and it detects the LG tv but still will not work anyone have this same issue?
