  • Connecting a PS3 to my IMAC G5

Anyone knows if it is possible to connect a PS3 to an IMAC? My assumption is that I could connect it if I could find a mini display to HDMI adapter. Any thoughts? Recommendation?

You did not indicate which G5 iMac you have.
Suggest that you do a Google search for your model G5 iMac. Also, do a forum search as your question has been asked & answered by other users.

  • Connect PS3 to MBP retina and then onto IMAC 21,5"??? POSSIBLE??

    greetings to all of you!
i wold like to share with you guys ths doubt the i have, and i'm pretty sure i'm not the first one thinking about this... hopefuly somebody can help me..
i know that it is possibe to connect the PS3 onto a macbook pro retina display with not that much of an issue. jut need to have the right cables and adapters, i'm cleared about that. AND i also know that with just a simple thunderbolt cabl you can use yor imac 21,5 (specificallly mid2011) as a monitor display for the mbp..
THAT'S WHY i came out with the ide to get all these three things together and connected, in order to play PS3 and watch it in my 21,5 imac!
I KNOW there are devices like eyetv HD, that allows you tu play ps3 on ypur imac 21,5 directly.. bt i'm currentlu living in croatia and buying something from amazon it's just way to slow to get it in here..
PLEASE if anybody has ever try it..or knows about someone that did, and it actually worked, please please let me know.. i'm not an electronic gnius but when you think abot the idea it doesn't sound too crazy or stupid.. that's what i think.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH HOP YOU CAN HELP LET ME KNOW

To answer the question, there is no built-in way to do what you are trying to do.
"Target Display Mode allows you to use a supported iMac as an external display for another Mac computer using Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt cables."
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3924
For a PS3 you will need to use a third party device/software.

  • Would like to connect ps3 to Imac?

    Hi
apologies if this has been answered before or something similar has before, but i would like to connect my ps3 to the imac 27" screen that i am looking to get. Dont particuarly want an Imac screen as well as a tv in my uni room.
hope someone could help, looking for a cheap(ish) way but any information would be great!
    thanks

The other thing not mentioned is that you are restricted to 720p whether using the Belkin, Kanex, or the Atlona converters. To get 1080p you need a US$279 scaler.

  • Converter to ps3 to my imac

i know theres tv converters like eyetv but does anyone know another converter for video game consoles, im trying to connect my ps3 to my imac so i dont have to buy a hdtv, if anyone can help me, thank you.

Sounds like the AV360 is faulty. Raise a support call with Belkin. Mine stopped working a few days ago and since the product has a "lifetime warranty", they should be able to replace it. They had replacement stock in Australia (where I am) but this might be hard in other parts of the world since they stopped manufacturing these in 2010 (I think). When you raise a support call, the model number is Part # F2CD007 :)

  • How to play PS3 on new iMac?(imac as a display)

    Hey All,
I bought the new iMac on late 2012, it's a 27" one, it only has thunderbolt ports, no mini display ports like the older ones
Altough I'm too busy I'd love to play PS3 once and while, just too lazy to hook up with a huge TV, so I'm wondering
how do I play PS3 with my iMac?  I'd like to know what kind of other equipments/cables I need to buy with this new iMac
    Much appreciated!
    Roger

You can't do that. Macs with Thunderbolt ports can only be used as an external display for other Macs with Thunderbolt. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
Unfortunately, the Target Display mode of the iMac only works with Thunderbolt (in the case of Macs with Thunderbolt) or Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cables, so it's not compatible with any adapters. As a PlayStation 3 hasn't got a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort connector, you can't connect it to the iMac

  • TS2756 How can i create a new usb connection (service)  on my iMac for sharing internet from my iPhone5 ( i seem have to deleted it )

How can i create a new usb connection (service)  on my iMac for sharing internet from my iPhone5 ( i seem have to deleted it )
i know its not a problem whit my carrier o data plan or sharing preferences on the ipone because when i use it un my laptop it works perfectly through
the usb and even works on the Imac through wifi and bluethood tethering but NOT through usb!!.
the problem is that trying to make it work i deleted the "profile" usb iphone on the network prefereces panel. Now i only have 3 options: ethernet / wifi / bluetooth
but not the usb iPhone i used to have.
And when i try to add a new one i dont get a USB option.
can some one help me please??
this is how it looks (after the bluetooth PAN i used to have USB iPhone option)

The question would be more appropriate in the Mac forums as it is not really related to the iPhone.

  • How to connect my iphone to imac on wifi

    Hi
I want to connect my iphone to imac on wifi. Actually i want to use internet on my iphone. So how can i do this ?

If you have a wifi router you can set up/turn on the wifi... set the user name and password wifi in your router... open wifi in general settings on the iPhone... log into your router, user name and password. (If your don't know how to turn on the router wifi. Google the router make and model and you will find instructions on how to do this.)
If you don't have a wifi router and your Mac has wifi capabilities you can hookup to the internet over wifi from your Mac to your iPhone.
System Preferences on the Mac... Network... Wifi... Advanced tab... Hit the '+' to add a user name and password...
Make sure you use WPA2 Personal for Security... Hit ok... Turn on the wifi... Same as above with the iPhone, log into your wifi settings on the iPhone.
*Important point... Use WPA2 for the encryption/Security setting. If you use anything else for this setting, your wifi can be hacked.

  • What cable do I need to connect my 27 inch iMac to my Cinema Display

What cable do I need to connect my 27 inch iMac to my Cinema Display to have two displays?

It depends on what type(s) of video input you have on your TV. If you've an open HDMI port on your TV, you can use a Thunderbolt (Mini DisplayPort) to HDMI adapter and it will carry the sound also. See -> here.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Is there a way to connect an old Sunflower iMac (OSX 10.4.11) to a new Time Capsule?  It used to work with old Airport Extreme with updates thru Snow Leopard but now seems to only allow WEP encryption instead of WPA.

Is there a way to connect an old Sunflower iMac (OSX 10.4.11) to a new Time Capsule?  It used to work with old Airport Extreme network, run from a intel iMac with updates thru Mavericks but now seems to only allow WEP encryption instead of WPA and can't connect to Time Capsule.  Airport Extreme Base was controllable from either computer up through Snow Leopard (I didn't do any of the Lion upgrades).  Then when I upgraded to Mavericks I lost the ability to use Airport Utility with this hardware on the Sunflower but could still connect wirelessly to network without any problems.  But now with the Time Capsule upgrade the Sunflower is blocked from network by a dialogue that requests ony WEP password, not WPA pwd used by Time Capsule.  Neither can I use the old airport extreme base to extend the time capsule network since I can't input the correct password/encryption approach to join it.  Is there a work around?  Would a newer but old Airport Express be able to extend network to Sunflower?  Or maybe a third party wireless (such as Netgear, Dlink, etc) that has browser type control rather than special utility?
Another question--before I used MAC addresses to control who could access network.  Now on Time Capsule I don't see anything about this--so is it true now that the only access control is via WPA2 pwd now (which appears to be the encryption pwd and not the time capsule pwd)?

Is there a way to connect an old Sunflower iMac (OSX 10.4.11) to a new Time Capsule?
I can’t claim to completely grasp the issue(s) you’re describing, but the underlying problem is presumably your iMac’s obsolete AirPort card. Whatever the case, an obvious (if not particularly helpful) answer to your stated question would be to connect your iMac with an ethernet cable, using powerline adapters as an alternative if you don’t want to have wire running all over the place.
My still fully functional clamshell iBook, with an original AirPort card, connects wirelessly to my 4th Generation TC network by means of a cheap 802.11b/g/n USB Wi-Fi adapter. This might be an option for you too.
Another question--before I used MAC addresses to control who could access network.  Now on Time Capsule I don't see anything about this
When you edit your TC's settings the access controls appear under the Network tab, don't they?

  • Old ipod nano - when i connect it to my imac - error message

I have an old iPod Nano - when i connect it to my iMac, I get an error message that says I can't have more than 5 computers authorized with my account - My account only shows 4, but that's really beside the point since this iMac is already authorized and I sync other devices from it.  Any suggestions? It won't let me add any new content to this iPod.

  • Connecting Macbook to new iMac

I recently bought the 24 inch iMac because my Macbook (purchased April 2006) is slow, unresponsive and has a broken optical drive. I have all of my recent photographs on my Macbook and would like to transfer them to my new iMac using a brand new Firewire 800 9-6 pin cable. My macbook is in working condition and this should work.. however my Macbook in FW mode isn't showing up on my iMac! Help!

That should be working. Try restarting the iMac with the MacBook connected in target mode. Also, if you run Disk Utility, does the MacBook's drive appear in the sidebar?
If you have never used that new cable for anything else, it is possible the cable is bad. It is also possible one of the FireWire ports is faulty. Do you have any FireWire 400 device? If so, use that cable to connect it to the iMac's FireWire 800 port, as a test. That will test the iMac's port and the cable. Also try connecting it to the MacBook with a normal cable, to make sure that port is working.
You can also connect the two Macs using +File Sharing+ over the network. Using an Ethernet cable to directly connect the two Macs will be faster than using wireless (as long as you use a Cat-5e or better cable). Just turn on +File Sharing+ in System Preferences Sharing pane on the MacBook. On the iMac, the MacBook should appear in the sidebar of any Finder window. Select it and click on the +Connect As+ button over to the right. Provide a username and password for an user account (on the MacBook).

  • Problem with IPad , did an update as requested now it does nothing, but display a graphic that shows I should connect to ITunes . So I connect it to my IMac run ITunes nothing happens. Try restore pop up says not eligible for restore.

Wow what a pile of crap you must wade through to ask a question .
Ok so the problem is I did an update on my IPad and now it does nothing but show a graphic showing the power cable connecting to ITunes
So  I connect iPad to my IMac and prompt iTunes nothing happens. So I try sinc nothing happens.
So I try restore and the popup says I am not eligible for restore.
What is going on with this stupid machine

Machines are incapable of being stupid. Not so of their operators.
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.
