Connect SAPGUI with Netweaver 2004

Hello,
i just installed the Netweaver Preview and now i try to connect with the SAPGUI (7.0) to this server.
I tried with the Advanced Confguration
conn=/H/devwin2k3/S/50100
But this does not work.
The Server is running (every icon in the sapmmc is green)
The Portalserver is responding and working when i connect to it with a webbrowser.
Any ideas?

Are you trying to reach an abap backend system or a J2EE engine or a portal??
If you're trying to reach the R/3 backend, check the SID and system number, if you still have problems, check that in the SAPMMC all the lights are green, if not check the logs dev_disp, dev_ms, dev _w0
I'm a bit confused here!

i assume that you mean the ABAP code in the event handlers in BSP.
i am using SAP GUI patch level 15 and for activating new ABAP editor from SE80 use the following menu path
utilities->ABAP editor-> editor
choose front-end editor (new) tadio button.

How to download the xml file with netweaver 2004s

I am trying to find the xml file in order to link R/3 to my portal
I installed Netweaver 2004s but I am not able to link to R/3
I heard that I can use another xml file from another server and download it and change the config to match the new server

Michael is right in EP5, system are defined in XML file. use the following properties you will able to create system connecting to R/3.
choose System Administration->System Configuration-> System Landscape.
Create a system of SAP_R/3_Dedicated type system
Select the Connector from the Property category dropdown
Application Host : <R/3 Host name>
SAP Client: <Clent no>
SAP System ID (SID):
Server Port:
SAP System Number
System Type: SAP_R3
Select the User Management from the Property category dropdown
Logon Method - UIDPW
User Mapping Type - Admin,user
Select System Aliases in the Edit dropdown list.
This opens the System Alias Editor, and displays the existing list of aliases created for this system. Add the system alias here.
Select the test connection in the Edit dropdown list:

Approach in working with NetWeaver 2004s BI Business Content

Hi,
I was able to find the Netweaver 2004s BI Help documentation for the business contents available for the Industry Sector that I am working on. It is using the correct terminology, for example, instead ODS it is saying Datastore object. Would that mean the NetWeaver 2004s BI version is compatible to any R3 system versions for that Industry Sector?
Would you cautiously test this BI version to that of the R3 Indusrty Sector version before you actually implement and integrate both for real? Or would you just implement it and resolve issues with OSS during the implementation and integration? How would you a pproach this?

I am actually working with the Industry Sector 'Media Enterprise' and not 'AFS'.
I totally agree that you would have to test test test and work with SAP through OSS. You can't sit there worry about the unknowns and blow things out of proportion and accuse others of being new to this kind of work. You can't be narrow minded about these things and insist on selling 3.5; you got to be on top of things if you're going to call yourself Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Victoria PeopleWannabeManagerTheGreat
Anyway, there are no new implementations doing 3.5 anymore while 7.0 has already been released 1 year ago. It's not rocket science. We have a sandbox that is 3.5 and we could have installed nw2004s on this thing and test the heck out of it, but nooo... it is still 3.5; I tell you...Technical people want to put their misery out in no time by beating the heck out of this thing until they get it to work, but non-technical people want to create misery for others by talking and pointing talking and blaming and pointing until ...they become Senior Mr. and Mrs. Victor and Victoria PeopleWannabeManagerTheGreat. (That's funny...)

CTS+ for Xi 3.0 Netweaver 2004(640) with Netweaver 2004s(700) TMS domain

Has anyone had success implementing CTS Plus for Xi 3.0? The documentation says the loose coupling is possible as long as the TMS doman is on a NW 700 system.
When I was configuring "Activate Deployment Service" (page 35 of How to Guide) I get the message that the command TMS_CFG_CHECK_DEPLOY_USER is an unknown function.

WS-Security and WSRP with Netweaver 2004s

Hello,
We currently have some WSRP compliant producers (non-SAP) that uses WS-Security for authentication/SSO between the consumer and our producer. I believe the WSRP spec allows this method of authentication and suggests this approach might allow for interoperability between portals.
Does Netweaver 2004s support this type of model for SSO?

Problem with NetWeaver 2004s EAR classpath for EJB

I'm working with SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.0.09.
I am trying to reference additional JARs from an EJB at runtime in the J2EE engine. I have added the additional JARs to my EAR project (I have a separate EJB module project) through "Properties/Archive Build Info." Then I have updated my EAR classpath by double-clicking on the application-j2ee-engine.xml and selecting Expert settings then specify a list of JAR's in the "Additional classpath" field as such: "log4j-1_2_8.jar, basis-test.jar,commons-beanutils-bean-collections.jar,commons-beanutils-core.jar,commons-beanutils.jar" Then I build the Application Archive (the EAR) and deploy to the J2EE Engine.
This is what my application-j2ee-engine.xml in my EAR looks like:

BI with Netweaver 2004s

Hi Guys,
Does anyone have any information about how to configure and set up the Business Intelligence (BW) component of Net weaver 2004s. We would like to get a pilot of the technology up and running so we can BW reporting via the portal etc.
In addition I need information on how I can publish SAP R/3 transactions as iViews on the portal.
Ideally I would like documentation and config guides. Can you please send these to [email protected]

How do I use the option "table view" in NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer?

We have used NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer, We found a strange problem. The option to select table view is not available. It is greyed out. How can you select table view (tabular) in 2004s Query Designer?
I have read the help doc about tabular view of NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer, I check my query, it has only one structure . but the option is still greyed out. I rebuild the query with 3.x Query Designer in tabular view, and reopen it with 2004s Query Designer, So there is a tab named "tabular view" display, but the option to select table view is still not available, and when users view the query result in web , it is still not in tabular view display. So I am confused, is there a bug with NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer?

Netweaver 2004s installation problem on Windows: Oracle 10G

I would like to install Netweaver 2004S(with usage types AS ABAP, AS JAVA, BI, BI JAVA, EP & DI) on a server which has Windows 2003 server OS running on it.
The server has 6GB RAM and has 5GB of free space on C: and a free sapce of 60GB on H: & 50GB on I: respectively.The database that is to be used is Oracle 10g.
Do I need to install first SAP solution manger 4.0 on this or Can i proceed with Netweaver 2004 S installation???
I am installing a central system.
First I tried installing SAP solution manger 4.0 on this system and it went successfully. Now when i am installing Netweaver 2004s on the same machine, during installation I am asked whether to "install a MCOD or create a new database for this installation".
I chose Install MCOD and proceeded further with Installation. But my installation is taking a lot of time while executing the service :"Creating database schema". The message which i get on status bar is " Removing schema user SAPSR3" and the status remains the same.
Have any of you faced this problem ? Please let me know how you have proceeded further.
Before starting the installation one of the prerequisites " SWAP SPACE VALUES" for installation was not satisfied by my system and even then i proceeded with the installation.
Is it because of this SWAP space problem , my intsallation is strcuk?? or what could be the reason fo this?

Hello Diwakar,
If you are just installing NW2004s then it is not mandatory to install Solution manager.
To increase the swap space --
Right click my on computer ->Select Properties -> Click Advanced Tab ->Click Settings (performance) -> Select Advanced Tab -> In virtual memory -> Change
you canIncrease swap space/page file here.
Do not install the system as MCOD, make the seperate database.
Do revert for further doubt.

Connection with sapinst get broken: Netweaver 2004 on aix machine

When I run sapinst , connection with it get broken in between.

-> plz check your root values using SMITTY -> Security & Users -> Users -> Change/Show Characteristics of a User -> insert 'root' -> check parameter 'Soft STACK size' -> value should be '-1' (minus one)

Installed Netweaver 2004s with Rapid Installer , can not connet to BI7.0!!!

I installed Netweaver 2004s with rapid installer but i can not connect to BI7.0 with SapLogon 710. SapLogon waiting for response forever. What are the post actions after I installed the Netweaver 2004s. I can connect to portal by IE.
I am new to this so any help will be greatly appreciated.

OS is Windows Server. SAPID is IKI. I am the only one trying to connect to BI so DPMON is not the issue. I wanted to stop and start the SAPIKI_03 service but I can not stop it, maybe it is related to that.
What are the post steps after installing rapid installer?
How can I make sure that I installed Java+Abap stack or only Java?

Is it possible to use Oracle instead of DB2 with Netweaver Test-drive 2004?

Dear all,
Recently I ordered on SAP Knowledge shop the Netweaver Test-Drive 2004 DVD (the 32-bit version for Linux (Red Hat Enterprise)).
Before the installation I had already installed Oracle Enterprise 11g (Release 2). However the DVD installed both AS and DB2.
What I would like to ask is that is it possible to use my already installed Oracle database with Netweaver and
remove DB2 from hard disk?
