Connect t42 to external plasma by the VGA connector

Hello
I have T42 type 2373 - when I connect the VGA cable that connected to a plasma TV I can not see clearly on the screen, only dots and lines. There is the display card - ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500
I try to upgrade the driver but nothing change.
Can anybody know this problem - I need it urgent today - we have a presentation.
Liora

Near as I can figure is maybe you can use an HDTV to analog TV converter on the HD port or as I said a VGA to TV converter. Normally a card with TV out function will have a S-Video port/jack. If it had analog TV out function you would find it somewhere in the NVIDIA control panel.
If anyone else can provide more info it's your turn.

and now i cant take it to optimised for built in display, only if the lid is opened and i want it closed.
can i know how to return it to the setting (optimised for built in display) with the lid closed?

thank you, I have the adaptors so glad that would work.  I just heard adaptors burn out often.  So Just thought for my main iMac computer, a plug would be best.  I will get one once I move.
Any other suggestions or things I should know about apple products in Ireland.  I know there are no Apple stores there.
An adaptor doesn't burn out. It merely serves as a means to connect the power prongs on your device to the power supply.
I believe you are thinking of a transformer, which you do not need. A transformer converts one voltage to another.
You don't need to do that as the power supply of modern electronics can take almost any worldwide voltage.
Look at the label on the device. It should indicate the input power acceptable of 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
Additionally, I found the adapters cheaper in the UK than I found them in the US. They were available in most supermarket chains. I wasn't in Ireland, so I can't say one way or the other.
If you have something that doesn't have that input power spec, it would require a transformer.
On other items like electric clocks or things with motors, you can connect them up to a transformer and the voltage will be correct, but the frequency may not. For clocks, that will cause them to not keep time well. For motors, they will burn out.

  • Missing pin from the VGA connector of a 17" CRT monitor that came with G4?

Hi, everyone. Regarding the 17" CRT monitor that came with the G4 "Sawtooth", should the VGA connector that plugs into the video card be missing a pin? On the connector of my monitor, there are 5 pins on the top row, 4 pins (instead of 5) on the middle row, and 5 pins on the bottom row. There appears to be a pin missing from the middle row.

  • Connect to a backend system with the BI connector via Visual Composer

    Hi all,
I set up a system landscape on my notebook with the NW2004s ABAP as NSP and with the NW2004s JAVA SP7 as J2E. Both systems are integrated in the SLD, this is set up. Furthermore I installed a BI system alias as NSP_XMLA in the portal with the URL for the backend system: http://localhost:8000/sap/bw/xml/soap/xmla.
I have the same user on portal and backend system NSP. Both have admin previleges.
When I try to logon to the backend system with this URL I get this error:
"No switch to HTTPS occurred, so it is not secure to send a password"
" Choose "Logon" to continue A dialog box appears in which you can enter your user and password"
Then I can logon to the server and get a lot of XML.
But I have to manually logon to the system.
From the portal I cannot logon to the backend system with the test function. I get the error:
Alias is found, but connection failed.
I guess there must be an automatic logon preconfigured.
    How can I do this?
    Is SSO necessary?
    thanks for any help

    Hi Gregor,
thanks for your answer, which was intersting but could not solve the problem. In the meantime I discoverd the reason for it.
You have to insert the connection URL to the BW system at 2 points in the system.
    1. You have to configure the XMLA connector with the Visual Administrator.
    2. You must implement a system in the portal where you configure all necessary information, also the URL to the BW system.
This seems somewhat strange to me because you will then not be able to connect with two or more BW systems to the portal and VC what is centainly necessary in a real world scenario. Anyway I can now see all Infoproviders of the BW system in the VC, and SSO isn't necessary because you configure the information to login to the BW system directly in the configuration of the XMLA connector in Visual Administrator.

  • Connecting TWO (2) external displays to the MacBook

    Hello!
I currently have a 21.5" LG monitor attached externally to my 13" MacBook. It works great.
I've been thinking of adding another monitor to accompany it, but A) I'm not sure if the MacBook can even handle it, and B) I'm not sure what kind of dongle will work.
Anyone done this before and can offer some helping advice?
    THANK!

As far as I know, you will need an external device to split the video signal. I have heard of these devices but I don't how well they work. http://www.amazon.com/Matrox-D2G-A2D-IF-DualHead2Go-Digital-Edition/dp/B000QRTHX 8/ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268373132&sr=8-1

  • Window 7, T42 and external monitor

Recently I have updated to Windows 7 and since T42 does not recognize external monitors. I have tried obvious things i.e. driver updates... Any ideas?

    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=81473
i'm running windows 7 professional on an x32 with an even weaker ati card and i can run an external monitor on mine. there's no reason that you can't run one on your t42.  the only things that you can't run with your card is aero and xp virtualization.
go into control panel, system, device manager and check the description of the display adapter.  windows 7 automatically installs a generic driver. if it says generic vga then you have to manually update the driver.  the link above gives detailed instructions.  the instructions in the link are for an x31 so you have to download the correct driver for your system. but, just download it, don't install it. you have to go back into device manager and manually point the device to the folder where you downloaded it.  but, use the xp driver, don't use the vista driver. after you do all this, go into control panel and choose display.  click  change display settings and see if you see 2 monitors.  then turn your machine off and connect your external monitor to the vga port.  then turn your machine back on and make sure the external monitor is turned on.  your external monitor should show the display and your laptop display should be off.
don't ever let windows update upgrade your display adapter, it will just put the generic driver back on.

I have a 15" Macbook pro running Windows XP Pro bootcamp, I am trying to connect to an external projector using the Mac mini dvi to vga adaptor, I have now tried two different adaptors but still I cannot get the display to work.
Does anyone know if there is an update that needs to be installed or additional drivers that may need to be installed for this to work?
Anyone out there have any ideas?

Thanks to the suggestion of downloading XP Service Pack 3, the problem seems to be resolved!

  • My Macbook Pro 15-inch with retina display crashes sometimes when connected to an external monitor

My almost-new Macbook Pro 15-inch with retina display goes black and shuts down sometimes when connected to my external monitor. (The first time it did this was when connected to a projector.) They have replaced the motherboard but it still happens sometimes. The computer and monitor both come back on after a few seconds.

  • Need help connecting to my external HD on a PC remotely.

I'm trying to connect to my external HD over the Internet on a PC. On my Mac, everything is working fine, I'm able to connect using the "File Sharing" ports. But, even though I already activated the "Windows File Sharing" ports, I still cannot connect to the external HD on the PC.
    This is what I've done:
    1. Set the AirPort Extreme to share an extrenal IP.
    2. Turned on all "File Sharing" options, except the Bonjour one.
    3. Opened up a "Windows file sharing" port (Public UDP/TCP ports: 1111 -- Private IP Address: 10.0.1.1 -- Private UDP port: 138 -- Private TCP port: 139). I also have a "File Sharing" port opened for Macs, which works fine.
    4. Set up a DDNS using dnsdynamic.org so that I don't need to remember my public IP. I use this DDNS to connect to my HD on the Mac, so I think it's working fine.
When connecting on a PC, I do this:
    1. Go to Computer > Map a network drive.
    2. I type \\<my ddns>:1111\Archieves
But then it says it can't connect. Any help? Did I skip any steps? The volume name "Archieves" is the name of the partition I set up for my extrenal HD, and it is the volume I want to mount on, so that's what I need to type after the " \ " (as on ":1111\Archieves"), right? Anyway, thanks for any help, and please tell me if I need to add any info or clear anything up.

    Great news, thanks!
Leopard will be the last OS for PPC Macs, so eventually you'll have to, but I'm thinking Tiger should be compatible for another year or two, but in a couple of years Leopard may no longer be sold by Apple, I'm seeing Tiger Install discs go for $200+ nowadays.

  • Connect to 32" LCD TV from Lenovo T61 with a VGA connector

    Hi,
I am trying to connect to 32" LCD TV 1080P from T61 with a VGA connector. When I do (Fn+Ctrl+F7) I can see the T61's output on my TV if I set T61's display setting as 1280x768. Then If I increase the resolution on the TV the screen becomes black. I want to change the display setting to 1920x1080 so that I can see output as full screen on my TV.
    Notebook setting as follows
    Color Quality - 32 bit
    Refresh Rate - 60 Hertz
How can I change the screen resolution?

Most likely the TV won't support higher resolutions via the VGA connector. But there is a workaround.
After spending several hours at a TV store last October, we found an obscure reference in the TV's manual stating this limitation. We also discovered that HDMI will support the max resolution. The T61p docking station has a DVI port that outputs a signal that can be converted to HDMI. We bought a DVI-to-HDMI conversion plug ($75) and took the docking station, conversion plug and an HDMI cable back to the store. Worked great so we bought the 65" LCD for trade shows. There are some settings to play with on both the T61p and the TV that will increase the image clarity significantly. The image is stunning at full res.

  • Can I connect an additional External HDD through USB?

    Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to connect an additional external HDD to the Time Capsule and share it like on the AirPort Extreme with "Hard Drive Sharing".
I think it's called an AirPort Disk, through USB.
    Thanks!

I had two drives, two printers and a powered USB hub. The best I ever got the AEBS to read was the two printers and one drive. I haven't tried it yet with the Time Capsule as the hard drive onboard made the the other two expendable.
I still do have access to the secondary drive but am in the middle of an archive of the time capsule as there's something wrong with the Time Capsule drive or directory. Once I get that straightened out I will test two drives in the hub and see if Time Capsule is any better suited to multiple externals.

  • IPad2 Mirroring via VGA Connector?

I"ve got a coworker who is trying to mirror his new iPad2 display to an LCD projector using Apple's VGA connector accessory. We've been unable to get the projector to see anything from the iPad2, and I'm wondering if mirroring is only supported when using Apple's Digital connector and connecting to a projector using an HDMI cable?
His projector doesn't have an HDMI input, so VGA is the only means of connecting the iPad2 to the projector.
Should he be able to mirror via VGA? (And by mirroring, we're referring to any app, not just those that support external displays like Keynote).

I just tried it on my iPad2, and it worked. I then went back to my coworker's iPad2, and it worked on it, too.
I can only guess the VGA connector was loose at the iPad's dock connector on his iPad2 when he tried it.

  • VGA-Connector Gives Error Not Video

Using the Apple VGA-Connector produces the following error:
"The connected display is not authorized to play protected movies."
Any thoughts on how to play a movie through the VGA-Connector? Is this not an option? I'm able to doc iPod's and play movies through my display.

The VGA adapter will display slideshows in the Photos.app, video in the Video.app, presentations in Keynote, YouTube videos and HTML5 videos from Mobile Safari. I have the VGA adapter and have done these things.
As far as the original error message is concerned, you cannot play HD content on certain displays. If you own an ACD, it's no problem. However, I purchased the Lord of the Rings trilogy (SD version is the only version available for purchase) and it gives me this error message. Playback works fine on some ST:Voyager shows I got. It could be something wrong with any number of things. I hope the issue gets worked out soon.
