Connect the portal to backend SAP R3 system which is on VPN

Hi All,
I have install local portal on my machin & trying to connect the SAP R3 to backend.
But I am accessing SAP R3 through VPN.
So I am getting connection failed.
Can u please suggest me some other way to connect SAP R3 backend system though VPN?
Usefull answer wil be awarded.

Can we use the Portal of a different BW system than we get the data from?

Hi Guys,
we use a BW on HANA ABAP System with a Business Objects Server Connection in a proof of concept scenario. The BW system HS1 has Usage Type ABAP only. Besides of this we have a “normal” BW System, P70with a Usage Type ABAP as well as Usage Type JAVA (J70). As a third component we do have a BO Server, where we have stored some DesignStudio Reports with Data from HS1.
We would like to use the existing J70 Portal of our “productive” BW Portal as an access point to the design studio reports.
What I am wondering:
Can we use the SSO Ticket that we get when we log in our portal environment to connect to our BO server?
Are we able to use then BO Reports that are connected to another BW System?
How we do this or do we have to take something into account?

hey Cemal,
it might depend on your releases... we currently have a test scenario with a Portal that is being used to display reports from a 7.31 BW system as well as the embedded 7.31 BW system of an ECC6 (EHP6) ERP system (as far as the Portal is concerned, that's just another BW system). The Portal is a 7.31 system as well.
I don't know too many (technical) details as anything beyond the BW server is out of my hands. I think this was not possible in older versions of the Portal though...

emgr_update no longer sets or gets the thesaurus from workbench. In 11 all workbench configurations are saved in IFCR configuration directly.
Hence the thesaurus entry should be added directly in version 11 Workbench as opposed to xml file in older versions.
And if you want to migrate the changes across environments then import_site script in control directory can be used.

Add tab in Portal to access SAP BW system

Currently, we have SAP ECC tab available in the Portal to access the ECC system directly with a single sign on.
Similarly, we want to add a tab to access SAP BW system wherein user can login to BW system to execute a process chain..
Please advice me with the development required for the same.

Please follow the below steps.
1) Create a system object to BW system and get the single sign on done and test the connections are fine(BASIS TEAM)
2) Create a Portal Role called BW Extractor
3) Create a standard transaction iview to rspc to BW system, and make the entry point on iview to true
4) Add the iview to the Portal Role
5) Add the Portal Role to user or user group.

How to get the Portal Username to SAP Transaction IView ( ABAP cust repor )

We have an ABAP program that will be exposed in portal as SAP transaction IVIEW. However the username that is being displayed in the report is the username that is defined in SICF > SAP > BC > GUI > ITS > WEBGUI. I tried to remove the username and password defined, changed the procedure to Alternative Logon Procedure and deleted some logon procedure list retained Basic and SSO Authentication but we are getting DDIC username. We have successfully implemented SSO, and it works in Personal Information of Standard ESS. The following are configure in our portal:
1. We have set SSO ticket
2. We are using User Mapping for portal and ABAP System
3. Retain Basic and SSO authentication
what could be the cause why the program (iview) is still getting the user instead of Portal Username? How can we get the portal username for our abap customized report exposed in iview

Make sure that the System you are using to connect to R3 has Log On Method and Authentication Ticket Type properties has SAP LOGON TKT as the value selected.

1) One way is checking the version and support pack applied.I.e,
On the main SAP screen > Systems > Status > Check details of the "Component version".
2) STMS > Double click on the system you need to check > Check the status of your request.

Need help for the message flow in sap xi system?

Hello All,
My requirement is some wat different............in the existing production system the message flow is 3500 per hour......... now we want to develop new scenario and the message flow will be 8500 message per hour.
Client is not giving me the system details ...like network details and i need to say that can we send 8500 messages in the existing system with out changing the process speed or data base.
also please advice the best ways to increase the performance in the sap xi system when the message flow is huge.

3500 to 8500 is not a message count tht needs to be worried about
but to be on the safer side what is the average size of a single message?

Problem when connect the portal through webserver

Hi All,
I have implemented the webserver (IIS6) with Iisproxy applicaiton for connecting to my portal server. So after finish configuration, i have try to browsing the portal through the webserver, and found that some page cannot display and showed the error "Bad Request (Invalid URL)". Then i test browing the portal again by browsing directly to the portal, and this error do not occur.
Do any body have the problem same me? please suggest the resolve solution.

Relating product compilaence with the material master in SAP R3 system

Hai SAP Gurus,
Please can you help me to mark a material in relation to the product compilance or regulatory requirements like RoH, CSA, EC, Copy exact in the SAP Standard process. please note that we are not using SAP EH&C and the client is asking this requirrement in the SAP R3 System. Is this possible to link this with material master? If so can u kindly explain me on this please.

If you do not use EH&S one option is to use a material class to mark the matrial as Rohs etc. relevant. As this is only a matter of storing infomation not futher process is linked to this data maintenance. If you wouldlike to use this stored data e.g. in SD, MM or PP processes you have to do it by your own programming. SAP EHS Management on the other hand gives you a number of options to use data like RoHs wich is store in EH&S further processes.
In any case: srtong recommendatino would be: do not try to use a lot number of material classes to do the same lik you are doing in EH&S.
Regarding regulatory demands EH&S is a "must" and wel integrated in SAP process (e.g. GTS, BW, SA Procudt and REACH Compliance Suite etc.)
Using EH&S is not such a "big" problem and there aer many companies which can assist in using EH&S .

Trouble in viewing the portal page after SAP NW CE 7.2 installation

Hi,
I installed the SAP NW CE 7.2. The installation was successful. I installed it using the loc al user id of the machine. Then I logged in as AD user id to the machine and tried accessing the server. It says "This web page cannot be displayed". In SAP MMC, message server, enqserver, gateway are running and shown as green. Pls help in resolving this.

How to use a portal defined alias for a system

we have in the portal Netweaver 2004s, sp11, defined systems, which contain SAP-Routerstrings. For Everey System we have given a Systemalias.
No we want to use the Systemalias managed by the portal use in our Java-Applivcation deployed on the portal-server.
How to to this?

From whatever I could understand from your question I would answer that in this way. You need to create a iView out of the application. It will ask for a System parameter. One needs to provide the system alias name into the System paramter.

What is the best approach to capture TBOM's for a SAP SRM system/functionality?

It would be much appreciated if somebody could share some information about the following....
What is the best approach to create TBOM's for a SAP SRM system? The SRM functionality is basically consisting out of multiple ABAP Web Dynpro's that are connected as a process via a SAP Portal (as is understand it). The entrypint to the SRM functionality is via the SAP Portal.
Do I first have to create a link to the Portal via an SAP Web Application link in SOLAR01 and then start recording? Will it record only the portal objects or also the ABAP Web Dynpro objects?
Do I have to list all the separate ABAP Web Dynpro's in SOLAR01 and use those as a starting point?
I am myself more familair with more classical SAP ABAP ECC systems and transactions. I could hardly find any information on the use of BPCA and the required TBOM's in the area of SRM.... Any help would be much appreciated!

E Recruitment Standalone system needs to connected with portal

Dear E rec experts
I am having e rec standalone system and a SAP HR system , Presently portal is connected with SAP HR system, I need to connect the portal to E rec server as well . Our Basis team did the SLD and SSO configuration , and portal system object also have been created to point the portal with Stand alone system . still i can not connect to e rec system with the portal.
Can any help with the java connector component name for e rec stand alone system with HR system , if jico is the solution for this issue.Else Please advice me any other solution -

Jco is for Java components. E-recruiting does not use Java Web Dynpro, but rather BSP and ABAP WD.
You link the systems via RFCs:
Call SM30, table T77S0 and check following parameter:
in RECFA HRRFC the destination to the HR system should be maintained
for this destination you can check if the connection is working by going to transaction SM59 -> ABAP connection -> double-click on the name -> button "connection test" to confirm the connectivity.
Afterward, you have to create the ALE distribution model so that you can transfer data via PFAL tcode and check the received Idocs on T-code BD87.

Below are the main settings required to enable you to transfer Customer Master Data to SAP GTS. Please note that their is a difference between, Customer Master Record and Customer Master Data in terms of data and for GTS, we transfer Customer Master Data. Hence, below are the settings required:-
In SAP ECC system:-
Activate the change pointers for Customer Master Data apart from enabling basic connection settings.
Schedule a job to run at regular intervals to transfer all the customer master data for the available change pointers to the SAP GTS system
2. In SAP GTS system:-
Maintain the Mapping for ECC Customers to SAP GTS Business Partners in the General settings area of the SPRO in SAP GTS system
Ensure that the Number range is maintained for those GTS Business Partners.
Also, some time you may be required to maintain the organisational structure to ensure full working.
