  • Can SQL Server (2008 R2/2012) Integration Services connect to Business Objects / Hyperion directly?

    Hi,
I have a situation where I need to pull data from Business Objects and
    Hyperion using
SSIS (2008 R2/2012). I did some pro-active research on how to go about implementing this on a couple of Forums and could only figure out the below solution.
We can create an ODBC DSN / connection for Business Objects and that can be used by SSIS as a connection manager to directly link to the Business
    Objects Universe. (http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?p=622922&sid=fbb54541e1daacf9714a5672b5ed1314)
Question 1 - Has anyone tried to implement this in past? Is this possible directly or can be achieved through some workarounds? sharing inputs/experience on this will be highly appreciated!
Question 2 - If this possible in any way , how to get this thing set-up in an environment where SSIS and BO are residing on two different domains/networks. Any way to establish a connection from SSIS
    to the BO instance/server?
Would really appreciate if anyone can help me out with this issue.
    Thanks

  • Connect two Business Object (BUS2038 and BUS0010) in Workflow!

    Hi experts!
I have a Workflow based in BUS2038 (Maintenance Notification), I can see attributes like Functional Location (code).
My problem is, i can´t put Functional Location (Description) that is an attribute in BUS0010 (Functional Location) with an input Functional Location (code).
    BUS2038
    Input: Notification number
    Output: Functional Location (code) (attribute)
    BUS0010
    Input: Functional Location (code)
    Output: Functional Location (description) (attribute)
I want put Functional Location (description) in a mail step.
    How I can achieve this?
    Thank in advance

Thank you Rick Bakker, I implemented this BUS0010 in BUS2038 (and delegate) but when I was testing, the link between two business objects is <nothing>. Do you need any program for connect both Business Objects?
    Thank in advance!

  • Connecting to Business Objects

I am running Crystal Reports xi R2 Standard. My knowledge of Business Objects is limited. I have recently had Business Objects installed and now wish to connect to the Universe.  However, there is no selection in database expert in Crystal to connect to the Universe.  Firstly I thought I was running the wrong Crystal SP but after upgrading to SP6 there is no difference.  I do not find any reference to similar problems any where on the net.  I am able to open existing rom the Universe by browsing there, but I cannot run them as I get an error "The Database Connector 'crdb_universe.dll' could not be found"
Am I running the correct version of Crystal Reports to connect to a Universe running on MY SQL, but connecting to a CA MDB Database running on SQL2005?  Are there any client-side ODBC settings that need to be in place?  If so, what driver should be used and where should they be pointed?  What else can I try?  I have seen references to a fix (ADAPT01038498), but I assumed this would be included in SP6.

    Hi Garth,
Is the BOE server XI R2 also? If not that would be one problem, they must both be the same version and try to use the same patch level. Second, there is a Client install on the BOE CD, run it on your PC where you have CR installed. Then you may have to do a repair install of CR so it will find all of the drivers. Use the Custom Option and select the database drivers. I don't recall if Universe was an option now. If not then the client install should install it for you. Then when you go to the database Wizard you should see Enterprise or Repository as an option.
    Thank you
    Don

How to interact with the Administrator to get my database connectivity and then how to implement the path provided by the admin people to get my database activate and then to connect it to the business objects.
So again i am requesting you all if you any one among you, who has already gone through this situation  could help and make to understand how to connect the database to business objects.
And how to present ourslef in a new environment.
    Thanks,

    Anu,
This is one of those forum threads that could last all year with comments, tips, and criticisms.  If you have a lot of knowledge about BusObjects, then you are nearly half way there.  In my experience, the biggest road block to success is communication and team cohesiveness.  If everyone on the project are not communicating with each other then everything is going to fail.  What do I mean about communication?  It's hard to pin down, but when I see it I'll know it's there (smile).  For starters it's having a good plan that everyone can work from.  An underlying theme in communications is also trust.  The folks who hand out the userids and passwords must be able to trust the folks who are receiving the privileges.  If the administrator must give you read/write access to his or her database and they don't "know" you, then this is an uphill battle.  Many administrators do not understand middleware such as BusObjects, they are more familiar with things like Access, and such -- the more simpler applications.  When you try throwing terms around like business intelligence, single-sign on, multiple queries, data providers, meta data, report viewer, etc, etc their heads start to spin and they want you OUT of their sight.  All of these concepts must be introduced gently and in an appropriate setting.  The admins must get familiar and comfortable with your tools before you can make headway.  So that is what I mean by communication, in this case laterally.  You must also communicate upwards (the C-level folks), and downward, the users.  Like I said, folks could add to this thread infinitum, and I would invite other as such, but here are some things to think about as you move forward.  The best teacher is experience, but who has time for that?

  • Connection with Business Objects Credential Mapping

    Hello,
We are on BOXI 3.1 SP2. We have a SQL Server 2005 database - which recognizes our Windows AD accounts and allows us access based on that.
I am trying to create a Universe connection that can use Business Objects Credential Mapping, so that users can use their AD account to access data. However the login always fails.
Can you please let me know if I am missing any steps here? We normally use SQL server accounts for connection , but we are trying to integrate and use AD security.
    Thanks a lot.

When you are using BO Credential mapping in universe connection, you have to set the database userid and password in the user settings in CMC. Have you done that ?
Also make sure that while configuring AD authentication in CMC, you have not selected any option to update users' data source credentials at log on time.

  • Business Objects XI 3.0/3.1- Connection with SAP ERP not with BW

    Hi all members,
I have to confirm that can we connect "SAP Business Objects XI 3.0 or XI 3.1" with SAP ERP.
My client does not have SAP Business Warehouse. Neither they are interested to have SAP BW.
So, I have to confirm that can we connect "SAP Business Objects XI 3.0 or XI 3.1" with SAP ERP ?
Any other thing i have to go for?
Kindly any member guide me in bit detail.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Izhar

    Hi,
currently it is not possible to build web intelligence reports fetching data directly from an SAP ERP system. The reason is that SAP ERP data sources are not supported in universes.
    Regards,
    Stratos
PS: An option is to deploy a BOBJ rapid mart. Please note that in this case you require the BOBJ Data services (ETL) tools. The idea behind the SAP ERP related rapid marts is that in the first step the data are extracted from your SAP ERP sources and load them into a relational database (using a predifined DWH scheme). Additionally the package provides you with universes (which rely on this predefined DWH scheme) and use the database as data sources, here your SAP ERP data were extracted to.

    Izhar,
I would suggest going to the Business Objects Support site and doing a search on "portal integration kit" (and before clicking on search, choose your product via the "Products:" indicator, as well as choosing the Document Types of "Kbase Articles", "Product Documentation", and "Technical Papers").

  • SAP BUSINESS OBJECTS THROUGH VPN NO LOGON

    Hi Experts and community
I am trying to connect to Business objects (Intercompanies) through VPN to the mother company, and altough I get the logon screen, when I input my credentials it just returns a please wait message and does not proceed any further, and after a couple of minutes the please wait message is dissapearing.
Note, that I am able to connect to another application of Business Objects (Accounting) of the mother company with no problem so the VPN seems to have no problem.
Also note that I am passing through my company server to reach the server(s) of the mother company.
Thanks in advance for any reply
PS. I hope that I am at the right area of the Forum as it is my first time and I am lost

    Thanks for the reply.
I am attaching the lower part of the wording of the screen where I enter my credentials. I do not know if it helps to define what kind of Business Objects it is.

  • Business Objects Open Connectivity Configuration in Universe Connection

    Friends,
i'm trying to create a Universe based on a flat file. I found out this Business Objects Open Connectivity (in Generic Sources) to use files as sources.
But I'm not sure how to use it? Can anyone help with this or share a doc how to use this functionality?

    Hi BHARATH C S ,
    Follow the below steps.
    1. Save the Excel in Local disk.
    2. Go to Start>>Control Panel>>Administrative tools>Data Sources(ODBC)
    3. Select System DSN>>Add>>Microsoft excel Driver(*.xls)
    4. Give a new data source name and click on 'Select workbook' and point the saved excel sheet and click on OK
    5. Create a new connection in Universe designer by using the Generic ODBC connection
    6. Create a new universe and insert the table which we have defined in the Excel sheet.
If this solve your issue then Mark the answer as a correct.

  • Business Objects XI 3.1 Connection to Oracle 10

I am new to the world of Business Objects and In Universe Designer, when I try to create an Oracle OCI connection, I get the following error:
CS:DBDriver failed to load : C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\dataAccess\ConnectionServer\dbd_oci.dll (The specified module could not be found).
The path for windows environment variable is :
    C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\HP OpenView\bin;C:\Program Files\HP OpenView\bin\OpC;C:\Program Files\HP OpenView\bin\;C:\Program Files\HP OpenView\lib\
Also, when I try to use cscheck on server to check connection, nothing happens - is there any setting I have to make to get this working.  I have used SQLPLUS to connect to the database successfully.
    Any help or pointers appreciated

    Hi Michelle,
Please restart the connection server and try again. In case Oracle client was installed after installing BOE, restart of Connection server might be required. You can also verify if all the Orcale libraries are indeed inside the Oracle/bin. When you install Oracle instant clinet there will be no bin. the binaries will be present C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\. Please try these two option.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks
    -Anup-
