Have you looked at the [[Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox]] or [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]] Knowledge Base articles? There is a lot of good troubleshooting information in there.
Hopefully this helps!

  • Connecting my MacBook Pro to Dell Monitor

Hi, I have a Dell E228WFP 24 inch monitor and I have connected it to my MacBook Pro (October 2013, Non-retina, 13 inch) with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, and another adapter off eBay, which plugs into the VGA cable that is in the back of the Dell monitor. When I turn the monitor on, the screen remians black, then the monitor goes into power save mode. The Mac can find the monitor, and the Mac says the monitor is working perfectly.
The monitor goes into power save no matter if I put it on Auto Detect or Digital imput, or Analog input.
    Please help!

Searching on Amazon, I find the monitor has HDMI.  a Mini-Displayport to HDMI adapter from the Apple Store is a much better choice than any VGA adapter.  Also your machine will support audio over HDMI if there is audio on the monitor.  If not, that's immaterial for that monitor:
    http://www.amazon.com/Dell-E228WFP-Widescreen-1680x1050-resolution/dp/B001BKR5D8
Anyway, HDMI carries the full digital signal.  So does DVI.  I for one prefer HDMI since it is less likely to fail connecting.

  • Setting up new printer with MacBook Pro AND Dell?

Need a printer, want an AIO, any work better than others with MacBook and Dell?  Purchased a HP Officejet 6500A Plus, any problems using both systems togehter?  Also, should I set up the Dell first then the Mac, or viceversa?

Thanks for the help, I'm definitely getting there
I changed the settings as you've described and can now print from my MBP. The 3 Dell laptops are another matter. Would you have any idea what the IP address of the printer would be? Or the AirPort Extreme? I'm following this tutorial:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1004.html
without much success but I'm really guessing at the IP address. I've tried 192.168.1.1 (my router) and 192.168.1.101 (the IPv4 address) with no luck. I suspect it's the IP address that's the problem ...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Facetime Does Not Connect - Incoming/Outgoing - With MacBook Pro

    Hi All,
I am having a problem trying to get Facetime to work on my MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.7.5, Facetime ver 1.1.1).
Basically, I can initialise FT/"see myself", I can make a call, the call will pop-up on the host device and when "accept" is clicked the call will stall with a "connecting" pop-up where the call never actually connects. The same thing happens from the 2nd device making a call to the MacBook, albeit when it finally stalls the error message reads "user XXX is unable to make Facetime calls" OR "connction was lost".
I have gone through all the forums, read all the official Apple Discussion Troubleshooting pages and have tried everything ... clock updates, manual DNS addresses, firewall rules etc. but nothing works.
Most interestingly though, I know that it is a problem with the MacBook Pro itself - and not with wifi signal or Apple ID etc. - because I can make and receive calls on the alternate device (iPad) on the same connection ... without problem.
Can someone please help? Note: Please do not post a standard "troubleshooting" page from Apple Support in your reply ... these steps have been followed and I know that it is something else about the MacBook which is the actual problem.
    Thanks in advance.

It is because of lack of drivers. The Boot Camp drivers supplied by Apple are no better than generic drivers.
Find the make of your computer's graphics card and download drivers for Windows XP. Install them, reboot and the option for dual monitors should be available.

  • IPhone 5S 8.0.2 doesn't connect via BT with MacBook Pro Retina

    Hi,
I'm trying to connect my iPhone with my MBP Retina because I want to try Hand-off and Continuity. I connect them via BT, they exchange the code but after 2-3 sec both the devices lose the connection. It seems like they are unable to recognize each other.
Moreover, on my iPhone there is a list with old devices they I had connected. I want to delete one of them because I'm not using it anymore, but when I tap on the , the option "disconnect this device" is grey and not blue as usual.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks

    I solved both problems.
    1) in order to use Handoff, you don't need to connect directly the devices. Just open the BT and connect them on the same Wifi
    2) after the update to iOS 8.1 every useless things are gone.

  • Monitor adapter for macbook pro and dell monitor

    Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro and a Dell monitor. The laptop has Mac OS X (Version 10.6.8). The model of the Dell monitor is a Dell E193FPp. I'd like to know what monitor adapter to get to be able to connect the 2 together. Anyone have any ideas?
Any help would be great. If you need more info on either equipment to help answer, please let me know.

  • Connecting MacBook Pro to Dell Monitor

    Hello all,
So I am attempting to connect my MBP to a Dell 19" LCD Monitor I got on craigslist.  The owner showed me that it worked (with his PC) before i purchased it.  I then went home ordered an HDE Mini Display Port to VGA Female Adapter on Amazon to connect them with.
First off, whenever I plug the adapter to the end of the monitor's cord it immediately goes to sleep mode without even being connected to my MBP.  Nothing seems to awaken it and all it will display when I press buttons on the monitor is "In Power Save Mode, Press and Key on Keyboard or Move Mouse".
Secondly, when I do connect it to my MBP, my laptop flashes blue as if connecting and then nothing happens.  Also when I go to displays, it does not detect the external monitor at all.  I clicked 'detect displays' multiple times and it will not recognize that the monitor is plugged in.
I have tried multiple methods from forums of unplugging, restarting and resetting PRAM.  Nothing has changed.
The only thing I can think of is the VGA adapter is bad.  I haven't tested this theory.  I am hoping there is a different solution, but if not I will go into the mac store and try a new adapter.
    MacBook Pro
    Mac OS X
    Version 10.6.8
    2.7 GHz Intel Core i7

    Thanks for any suggestions,

  • Connect Ipad retina with macbook pro OS X 10.5.8

I just bought a new Ipad with retina display and I'm trying to connect to my MacBook pro, but it says I cannot because the itunes has to be version 10.7 (mine is 10.6) so I check for version 10.7 but the specs say this is only for OS X 10.6.8 and I have 10.5.8!!!
So is the only way to use my iPad with my MacBook Pro by upgrading the MacBook Pro software? How come no one says anything about this at the Apple Store??
Are there other ways to do this?
    Sukey from RI

You need to upgrade your OS. It's your responsibility to verify if your equipment meets the system requirements, not the Apple Store.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

One thing that has been a source of confusion is people are attempting to pair the phone and Mac via Bluetooth. You cannot do that. Bluetooth needs to be on for both devices and they need to be in range but you cannot pair them. Here is an excellent article about that: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • Can connect to Snow with MacBook Pro but not G4

I have used my G4 with the airport for a long time. I recently got a MacBook Pro and it connects in fine to the ABS. Both worked connecting to the ABS for a few months. Suddenly, the G4 quit recognizing the ABS. Nothing I do allows it to find it. Could there have been a software update that caused this? There was a thunder storm, but no recognizable issues on the G4, everything seems to be fine...except it doesn't see the Airport.
