Connect to hdmi with lion

New iMac 27"  running Lion.  Trying to add my HDTV as an extra monitor so I can watch the "Web Only" tv shows on Hulu.  Just can't make it work and have found some threads elsewhere that indicate it would have worked if I was using an earlier OS.  Is there not a way to do this with Lion?  Have no idea how what monitor you use has thing one to do with DRM but seems to be the case.
Any ideas?

Really? Huh.
After each time it freezes (and it does so immediately upon connecting the HDMI cable to the port) I have to unhook it and force a shut down for it to get back to normal. I'd rather not do that anymore is all.
I have changed the input to the correct one, but no change.
Perhaps it is an incompatibility with the TV, but I have a feeling it's the upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Articles online suggest that Mountain Lion's forcing a switch to Apple TV, cutting out the compatibility with HDMI cable-connections.

  • IPad connect to localhost with Lion 10.7.3?

I'm running a copy of Wordpress on my localhost using MAMP.
It's running perfectly and I can access my install via http://localhost:8888/wordpress/ without any problems.
I've read elsewhere that I should be able to connect to this install via my wireless network using my iPad/iPhone by going to:
    IP:PORT/wordpress  >>>  ie/ 192.168.1.7:8888/wordpress
However this doesn't seem to work - I keep getting a Safari 'Cannot Open Page' error...
I'm running Lion 10.7.3 on the macmini and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
    Thanks!

To determine your IP address you can view it in System Preferences -> Network and select Ethernet or Wireless depending on your configuration.  The connected interfaces will have a green dot indicating a connected status.
Alternatively, if you are good comfortable with Terminal Application you can try the following:
Make sure the IP address you are connecting to is correct by going to the MAMP server and running:
    ifconfig |grep inet |grep -v inet6
This should give a list of your ip addresses such as
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000
    inet 10.0.1.110 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.0.1.255
With your ipad you will connect, in my case, to "http://10.0.1.110:8888/wordpress/" without the quotes.  Do not use the 127.0.0.1 address on your ipad.  You look like you may already understand this and were using 192.168.1.7 but it doesn't hurt to double check.
If that doesn't resolve the problem go into "System Preferences" -> "Security"
Select the firewall tab and click "Turn Off Firewall" for the duration of this test.  Turn the firewall back on as it protects your computer.
Then try to connect from you iPad again and it should work.
If that does not it may mean the web server is not listening on the correct interface.  If the above does not work there are many other paths.
You did turn on your firewall, correct?

  • Problems with graphics and Internet connection - iMac 2011 with Lion

First: sorry about my english... It is terrible! lol
I have an 2011 iMac, purchased in June 2011 in the USA. I brought the iMac to Brazil.
Sometimes when I turn on my iMac, the graphics are horrible and can not connect to the Internet. When this happens, I have to restart the Lion.
Apple introduced the "iMac FW Graphic Update 3.0". The information says clearly that supports Brazilian Portuguese. Butwhen I install, an error appears: "this software is not compatible with your system".
My Lion is in Brazilian Portuguese. Why it is not compatible? How do I install it? How can I solve this problem?
Note: The technical assistance of Apple changed the HD, according to recall made by Apple through the site. The HD is new.
    Thank you very much!

Anybody? I'm buying a new network card simply but I'm not sure that it is the network card that is causing the network problems I'm experiencing.

When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

  • Mini DisplayPort to HDMI transmits no audio on 2011 iMac with Lion 10.7.2

    Hello everyone. I'm new here.
I have a 2011 iMac which was shipped with Lion and I updated to 10.7.2. I am trying to connect my iMac to my televison to play my movies, etc by using the HDMI connection. No VGA connection on this TV, which is what I used to use before upgrading computer and TV. I ordered a MDP to HDMI adapter from ebay which says it supports audio. The seller is reputable and I do not see any issues from their other customers.
I have the MDP to HDMI adapter connected to an HDMI cable connected directly to my 46" Panasonic LCD. The video transfers perfectly, but audio continues to be played from computer's internal speakers. I've read through as many posts as I can find. I see many which tell you to select HDMI in System Preferences>Audio. There is no option for HDMI here. I only see "Internal Speakers" as the output option.
I called AppleCare and even spoke with a Senior Advisor. They say I need to buy one of the two adapters they recommend in their support article. (I get the impression that they just wanted me off the phone.) Those are overpriced and I think this adapter should work, as I see other customers of this same product are satisfied.
I've tried resetting PRAM and also SMC. I've taken a look at the audio settings on my televison, all to no avail. I don't understand why HDMI would not be shown in Audio under System Preferences. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

    Same problem.
All my equipment is directly from Apple, except two items bought December 2011, namely a 24" Sony Internet TV and a high end HDMI cable bought from Sony.
My Macbook Pro 15" with its 10.7.2 Lion and Intel Core 2 Duo let's me plug in a Moshi DP HDMI adapter via the HDMI cable to the Sony Internet TV.
By selecting the source on the Sony TV, I can get the display working. My Macbook refused to see the Sony TV until I switched to Mirror Display, but now I can switch between the two display modes fine with no problems.
But the audio does not work.
Really rather annoying, considering that there have been problems with this feature in several OS X generations now - after apparently working fine once upon a time.
Dear Apples, kindly could you tell me when you will re-introduce audio support through DP HDMI connectors?

  • Satellite L500-13e connected to TV with HDMI cable - no sound on TV

Hi! Sorry my English is bad.
I have a problem, i tried to connect my notebook with TV through HDMI, but
sound playing on notebook rather than TV ...
In Realtek HD Manager i didn't find "HDMI Output options"
Please, suggest what should I do?

The whole story is a little bit strange now.
As far as I know Satellite L500-13E is delivered with preinstalled Vista Home Premium and all drivers must be preinstalled.
I don't understand how you can suddenly have this yellow question mark in device manager.
What have you done with your notebook?
Anyway, at first try to remove sound device from device manager and restart your notebook. If the yellow question mark is still there install Vista sound driver. You can find it on Toshiba download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

  • How do I get Mac Pro with Lion Server to restart at a set time when users are connected?

I have recently configured a Mac Pro with Lion Server, and have set it to restart automatically every morning at 3am. When I arrive in the morning, I notice that it has not rebooted, usually because it states there are users connected. Is there a way to automatically disconnect users so that the machine will reboot.  No one is ACTIVELY connected at this time of the morning, but may still be logged in somewhere. I did see where I can log out users after a set period of time when using Workgroup Manager to manage a computer or computer group, but I don't use the server to manage all of the computers that have users log in.
    Thanks!

Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be each and every night, but it was for the sole purpose of preventing sluggishness. We had it set up before, as Snow Leopard Server and it would restart every night. It would occasionally be slow and need rebooting, however a manual reboot was not possible by most people in the store as they did not have credentials to screen share and restart it - which would result in holding down the power button to shut it down.
The server is used for the sole purpose of logging in about 50 users just so they can customize their experience, as well as saving items to their own home folders.  The store is closed during the night, and there is no reason anyone would be accessing it during the night.

  • With Lion no connection with my HP Photosmart

    Hello everybody,
I got Lion and now I am not able to connect the MacBook Pro with my HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-one C410b printer anymore!
I am really disappointed! I connected them also with USB. Nothing! The software had recognized the printer and automatically downlawded the driver.
Neverthless no printing, no utilities readability, nothing!
I checked the compatibility but the HP and Apple sites are not in accordance!
Is anyone able to help me? Thank you in advance.
Sorry for my English, I am still improving it!

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669, your printer is supported. Try deleting the /Library/Printers/hp folder and the printer from Print & Scan. Then download the drivers using Software Update or from here:

    Hope this helps.

  • Hdmi audio on mac mini with lion

    Hi
How can I get my audio to be output through a hdmi cable ?
By default sound was output by the hedphone  jack or the internal speaker. In setting/sound I see HDMI and my blue tooth headphones, I can select anyting tjhere except HDMI (tv) ?
    Antoine

I have Mac Mini (mid 2010) hooked on to 5.1 ch speakers (Bose) and LED TV (Samsung) through AV amp (Bose LS-35), all connections using HDMI cable. The dream system autput is limited to 3.1 (no sound from LR and RR).
When I then configure my speakers through the Midi-setup utility. I can specifically trigger each speaker successfully (control sound comes with the configure speakers tool). The video is also good. The problem is that whatever movie I play and whatever software I use (DVD player or Quicktime or VLC), I hear only stereo. I also tried every possible permutation in the software settings without success.
The fact that the midi-setup (in utilities) can drive every speaker indicates that the wiring is correct and even that the AV-received transmits the macs signal properly. But somehow, the output from the mac (apart from the setup tool) fails miserably.
I looked through hundreds of forums without success. People suggest using toslink and HDMI connection, but then we need to use two remotes, etc and not sure if that will either.
Apple clearly states MacMini is capable of producing 5.1 ch sound (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4214)
Hope to get some help and guys in Apple zero in on the issue

Thank you BGreg.  That is what I have been doing, and then it works just fine.  I think it was doing the same thing in the previous version of Lion.  I may be incorrect about that.  I upgraded to 10.7.3 a few weeks ago, and then last week I reloaded the combo update, hoping it would help.  Not so.  Thank you for letting me know it is a common problem.  I have tried permissions in Disk Utilities, and in Macaroni, both at least 4 times, plus numerous restarts.  Nothing Improves.  It still can not find the internet when it wakes up or gets up.
